I noticed a lot of traders looking for him. Is he really rare?

he is MM my friend. One of the big 7 JLA members. His sculp is amazing, his dial very well done, and is a unique. I have 1, i neeed 2 more :p (check uout my trade wants and you will notice that)

Aside from the fact that he's Martian Manhunter what else is influencing is rarity. I'm just really glad I got a mine long time ago.

Yes, he is a difficult figure to get a hold of and he's one of the most loved comic characters in the DCU. He is probably the chase Unique of Cosmic Justice, and if he had a longer range, he would be comparable to Despero and Amazo as the best in the set.

When you mean range, can't he already perplex his own range to a 7? So isn't that almost as good?

he's as rare as all the other uniques from that set.

his main draw is his name recognition, same as for nightcrawler. when we got a REV of nightcrawler, as good as that piece was, his value nearly halved.

he's not really that great, though. he certainly didnt age well with the game...

Depends. If you are playing a game big enough to fit him in. then you are probably dealing with figures that can outrange him, true. But you might be more better served dealing more damage or increasing you chances of hitting them by using your perplex on his Damage Value or on his Attack Value. That's just my opinion though. One thing, a 6 range is not indicative of J'onn's ranged abilites.

I don't know I think his dial is pretty consistent. He delas a consistent level of damage throughout his entire and he has a nice selection of powers. I like his first click of Stealth Imperv and Perplex though, provided that Bright Light aren't out he can be pretty good as a powerhouse that can support as well ^_^
