View Full Version : If Wizkids Made A Video Game Into Clix Form Which Would You Like?

There are 100's of Video games out there that we all love to play. Some of us have put in hours of play time into some of these games and have come VERY close to many of the characters. The question presented for this poll is "If wizkids were to make a video game into clix form which would you want?"

Personally, I wouldn't want them to do GameClix, but, if they had to, I'd rather have things like Tomb Raider with the Top Cow TA, or AvP with the Dark Horse TA...

At least SOMETHING having to do with comics. Otherwise, from that list, I'd say Street Fighter. At least they have a comic, and it's kinda super-heroey.

I got into heroclix because I love comic books. But now that I am into the game, I'd love to see other realms of fiction mixed in. And video gamesd would be a great start. For me, the mario brothers are just classic, but I'd enjoy mortal combat, street fighter, Link, Samaus, or any of the main stream ones.

Maybe Wizkids could get the nintendo license. There are so many pieces they could make just from that.

12/05/2005, 11:50
I also fail to see the appeal of a Heroclix video game. What makes clix different is that it is a tabletop game. There are plenty of superhero/comic related games. If I want a video game, I'll play a video game.

2Face
12/05/2005, 11:52
Well, I'm an idiot. I just realized that I read the question wrong. I would like to see Halo in clix form.

Laenan
12/05/2005, 11:53
It's not really a heroclix videogame, it's videogame heroclix. That being said, I'd want to see Super Smash Bros. reproduced in clix form. That way, you get all the Nintendo characters in one package. Barring that, Mortal Kombat, Mario Bros. or maybe even final fantasy would be cool.

I voted Zelda, but let's be realistic, if they get Nintendo, they get Nintendo, and if they get Capcom they get Capcom. That means the REAL vote is:

Mario/Zelda/Metroid/+

vs.

Street Fighter/Megaman/Rez Evil/+

and it's not at all unlikely they could score both in a single set, as those companies are fairly friendly.

The only disapointment is that Castlevania is likely off the table, since that's Konami, and Konami (due to Yugioh) is shacked up with Upperdeck, and Wizkids sold out to Tops, which makes it liscense hell. I hate liscense hell, the world would be SO much better off without it.

Actually I want some TNA wrestling clix, even have a name for them... Dial Grapplers!

Anyhow, on to the poll at hand. I love a lot of the games listed, but the clear choice has to be Mortal Kombat. A large selection of established characters each with unique looks and powers to be reflected in clix form. Also a large fanbase.

Halo. Master Cheif REV with different weapon layouts. Grunt Marnies. Could do double base transporter Warthog (or atleast a double based Ghost). Can do all sorts of Covenant (LE for the special ones, forget the stupid thing's name now :p ).

Well, I play City of Heroes, WK doesn't need to do anything (except maybe a full CoH/CoV set)

I like HeroClix as a tactics game, and it would probably be best like that, or as a FF style team RPG (like x-men legends).

I posted Other.

The reason being. Smash Brothers Clicks would be the BEST way to represent all of Nintendo's franchises into Heroclix.

You could easily come up with a full set featuring Smash Brothers characters.

As well all the characters from the series are very diverse. You have Beatsticks like Donkey Kong.

Mid-level fighters like Link and Mario.

Utility pieces Pichu, Jigglypuff, and Princess Peach.

Basically you can fill a set with several great characters, and their brand and name recognition would sell the set very easily.

How about Final Fanasy characters in Clix form with different RRRRREEEEEEVVVVV and LE and Unique to battle different levels of monsters.

The different RRRRREEEEEVVVV represents their different power ups in Final Fantasy game where they level up and attain different powers.

Just a thought.

Kirby
12/05/2005, 14:32
RE for me! :)

It would make for an interesting change to the game dynamic: instead of having a lot of uber pieces hermorraging powers, you'd have lower point pieces that could do a variety of things, just not at the "super" level. That might not appeal to most, but I'd be all for it. Lots of zombies and other monsters, and a few boss monsters that would be really big.

As much as I love many of the other properties, I don't think 'clix is the right medium since it wouldn't really be able to capture all the subtle nuances - in clix, is there really any difference between a punch or a kick or a gun shot to the head?

HALO would also have been good in its own way. Castlevania too. Final Fantasy just ain't my bag, baby.

I put "other." I'm not interested in seeing any of the video game characters I know of as clix.

If pressed on what I would want if we HAD to have clix, I think it would be funny to see some of the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas characters from the Grove Street Families in clix form. Ryder, Sweet, Big Smoke, and OG Loc would be cool. Big Smoke would be on a double base with a dirt bike. We could have an REV OG Loc in his rap outfit, and a Unique where he's wearing his Burger Shot uniform.

I apologize to anyone who has no idea what I'm talking about here (although that is how I feel when people discuss the MANY video games I know nothing about).

Metroid!
We could have an REV Samus, each in different armor, power, varia and gravity with the Phazon as a Unique. The Fusion suit would make for a decent unique, kind of sub-rookie, and Samus without her suit, from Zero Mission.

Who wouldn't want a Ridley (unique) and Kraid (giant) U's?

Mother Brain, unique and giant.

Space pirate generics

Metroid generics

Metroid Prime unique

Shadow Samus Unique

The Wraith things from Prime

Federation Marine generics, Echoes

Parallax_LE9:

Well if we had Smash Brothers Clicks we could easily have a great Samus REV.

Realistically, very few video games would work in Heroclix, and very few video games would be able to bring the popularity to sell heroclix.

However, Super Smash Brothers, Street Fighter, and perhaps Final Fantasy would.

Super Smash Brothers: Nintendo fans eat everything Nintendo up, and they are some of the most loyal and diehard gaming fans ever. Introducing them to heroclix would be nothing but a GOOD thing.

Street Fighter: Hasn't been around lately, but Street Fighter is still the best 2D fighting game created...and possibly the best fighter created period. Interesting character that could make fun clicks. Though this would be much better as a collectors set than a full heroclix booster pack. (7 of the most popular characters)

Final Fantasy: This is a hardest crowd to win over, but atleast Heroclix plays somewhat like an RPG, so it could fit. I wouldn't want full monster sets though. Just main characters and main villians. Perhaps a Chicabo Transporter piece would be awesome.

Now that would be cool

Final Fantasy could draw in new blood, like the Invincible backers keep touting. Those fans are some rabid folks - without even knowing how to play Clix or having a group to teach them, the FF sets would sell like crazy.

Mega Miss: Not including my favorite platformer man himself - Megaman X.

Oh, the possibilities...
Characters from both the original and X series.

Protoman with L/C and some Running Shot.
Skull Man with Barrier and charge.
Charge Man with...well, yeah. His name and all.
Pharoah man with multiple targets, Energy Explosion, and some clicks with no EE but a high DV for the huge fireballs.
Shadow Man with Ranged Combat Expert and Stealth and Smoke Cloud.
Rush Jet/Coil transporters, which would make me laugh my head off...

And then
Sigma with (wow; what's it called; I haven't seen it in so long) Energy Drain or whatnot, and Regerneration and B/C/F.
Launch Octopus with Swimming movement and Exlpoit Weakness for the heatseeker-piranhas.
Duff McWhalen with a black hole that sucks up his stupid name.
Zero with Regeneration and B/C/F and as a bonus, his body comes apart in three pieces to represent how many times that keeps happening to him in the game.

Ah, the possibilities...

PLEASE Wizkids, do not get into gameclix. Theoretically it sounds good for little kids, but why play game clix when you can play the video game? Wow, only one other guy voted (albeit a semi-vote) for Duke Nukem??????

I realize he's other, and I realize that some of the youngin's don't remember the games, but Duke is the friggin' MAN!

A Nukem click would probably have 11 clicks of life, a special feat card that let him do regen rolls when he's in water terrain (drinking fountains let you slowly restore your life, as did broken toilets), Pulse wave with 4 damage for the big two-barreled stinger missle launcher (I can't remember what it's called), some energy explosion for the Shotgun, RPG, pipe bombs, and laser trip bombs, and a FULL DIAL OF RUNNING SHOT. Probably some incap for the freezethrower, Psychic Blast for the Shrinkray. (only boss-level enemies were impervious to it. If aimed correctly, you could use it on anyone else, and squash them with one stomp.)

Hail to the King, Baby!!

I always felt Metal Gear Solid charactors would translate really well into heroclix. Cmon, Solid Snake would be awesome to play!!! Give em a TA that duplicates stealth (Batman TA) and I'm sold.
Also a click of Dante from Devil May Cry would excite me in ways that are forbidden to most. I wanted one bad enough that I made a custom of him about 9 months ago.

I like the idea in theory, but most of the videogames I like are not character based.

The one I think would make the best clix is not mentioned-- Tomb Raider. The later games are terrible, but the concept would make for a good clix figure. All the martial arts chatacters leave me cold, and I don't care for RPGs.

Unless you got *really* wild and suggested Dig Dug and Pac-Man. I have no idea how they'd translate into clix form.

*Smack!*

Ok, now think.

The videogame industry is massive compared to the comic industry. It's existance didn't stop the Yugioh and Pokemon card games from doing massive sales, even though the videogame versions of both are far superior. If WK makes game clix, it WOULD be a sound idea, since it would pull from a DIFFERENT audience than HC. If the rules are similar (or even identical), it might even HELP Heroclix, since it would bring outsie players closer to HC.

robii_chan
12/05/2005, 20:34
I think having the Capcom characters would be the logical choice if you were looking for something to integrate on the side, since Udon comics has been putting out the DarkStakers and Street Fighter games for a while, and they HAVE been very successful in both the United States and Japan.

However...

I voted for Final Fantasy. The reason is when people ask me about tactical strategy games, I always think of Final Fantasy Tactics. Honestly, if they were going to make GameClix, I would like to see Final Fantasy Tactics using the MageKnight 2.0 rules. The system is already there and doing nothing. It's just a matter of transitioning the characters in. If you really wanted to, you could make the hero figures like Cloud, Squall, Vincent, Sephiroth, etc all be compatable with HeroClix, but I wouldn't think that was needed.

As for first person shooters. What? How exactly would that work for tactical strategy? I have bad images of Shield member clix and Punisher figures... RCE abundant, at best.

If a video game version of Heroclix was formed I would want it to play like a cross between Fire Emblem and Advance Wars.

Now I know what you are thinking. WAIT, those games play exactly the same.

Advance Wars puts more emphasis on generic fighters, which I think would be cool in SOME sceneros of a Heroclix video game. But I want that element of Fire Emblem of very strong and powerful leading characters.

I would also want full team building missions...with custom designed figures that support a working point generator (at least for the video game).

So the game has multi-scrolling levels, with multiple levels and such. My team I built is a 300 point hero team with generic back up police officers generating 1 every 3rd turn.

My opponent is using a 200 point villain team however, his generics generate 1 every turn. My team has more power, but is vastly out numbered.

I read the mission and decided I needed Vet Wonder Woman, Rookie Batman, and Robin, and My Custom created Super hero to win this battle.

Of course, online battles have to be present, and also Custom map building.

Games can take place with advanced rules for the video game, or traditional table top rules.

House Rules Generator is available for traditional table top games.

i'd like to see an online console version or pc version that is expandable, just so that the rules are set in stone, and not up for debate. the rules for this game are too unpolished and difficult to properly understand for anyone.

my vote goes to the "other" category for 2 reasons:

Metroid Prime (or anything from the Metroid Series)
Samus Aran...would probably have to be an REV to reflect the different suits
Variety of Space Pirates...mmm pirates
Ridley...prolly a giant or big fig
and of course...Metroids :) Prolly REV to reflect the different types

MegaMan X...for the same reason someone else posted...i want a Sigma Clix darnit :P

Fire Emblem would rock. Blades, or RCE, and rediculous defenses and AV's all around. It even would have Flyer's, Support, and TK(as it's the only way i can think of to represent Dancer's. Double Based Paladin's would be awesome. And the game is already TBS so the character's will play just like the ones in clix.

.
I would only use the ones that could "concievably" be crossed over into a comic/RPG type setting.

Final Fantasy Series: Don't like them. Never fond of anything that combines science with Sorcery... Except He-man. But that's a Childhood hero thing. (Gun Blades :tired: )

Street Fighter: Fun game, but it would be all the same thing.
Mortal Combat: See above
Mario Brothers: Too, odd. plumbers vs. turtles and mushrooms. Just can't see Luigi side by side with Spiderman
Sonic the Hedgehog : See above x1000000
Resident Evil This has potential, Always open for some nice generic monsters
Legend of Zelda This I could see as a possibility, As long as they go with Adult Elf Link, and not the brrr.... "Fairy Boy", not sure how it would be different from the last Indy BCF set
dothack Don't know anything about it.
Dead or Alive Worse than Street fighter and Mortal Combat. They are literally JUST different fighting styles. they don't even have the powers and weapons that could justify the SLIGHT variety SF and MC could offer
Suikoden Don't know it.
Call to Arms Don't know it.
Breath of Fire series I MAY have heard of this, but I won't comment till I'm sure, this has the sword guys, Marth and .... other sword guy who's not link :nervous: from Super Smash brothers? If so they could work, but I see the same problem as Zelda BCF for everyone!!

HALO I really only like for the Red vs. Blue comic strip thing,
Metroid could work,

Still want me some Castlevania though ;) Some great enemies for my midnight sons teams :)

I Am The Game
12/06/2005, 02:27
I voted other/no.

The only game I could conceivably see myself buying is Castlevania, but only because of the awesome generics we could get from the set. On the other hand, there's no reason Marvel and DC can't produce the same generics. They already have Frankenstein, Dracula, the Mummy, Werewolves, Medusa, Skeletons, Zombies...

Technically, gun blades are based on flintlock pistols, which were a cross between a dagger and a single shot pistol. They actually used these in France and England. I had the same gut reaction until I found out they were fairly historically accurate. Not such a cross between "science and sorcery." Final Fantasy was always more steampunk fantasy anyway.

For those who want Castlevania,

It's very unlikely.

Why?

Castlevania is owned by Konami.

Konami has a firm working relationship with Upper Deck (via Yugioh).

Wizkids sold out to Topps.

Topps and Upper Deck do not get along.

Liscensing hell sucks.

I really love Castlevania, and it would definitely be my first choice too, but I can't imagine it happening.

*Smack!*

Ok, now stop flogging that tired old horse before I call the SPCA!

Well since the poll says 'a game' and not 'a game company' I won't start speculating how man different teams could come out of voting Capcom (Megaman/Street Fighters would be great IMO).

Instead I voted other, for one simple reason:

OTHER = FREEDOM FORCE

For those of you unaware, Freedom Force is THE superhero computer game. (It's played out in a fictive silver age comic book world, and has about a dozen super heroes as well as quite a few super villains)...

Other:
The Fallout series.

First of all, Clix games we have:
Fantasy
Super-tech
Super hero
Baseball
And the short-lived Shadowrun (cyberpunk?) and Crimson Skies.

So, we need down and dirty mid-tech post apocalytic free for alls
I mean who DOESN'T want to see an army of Paladins facing off against the Super Mutants, stalking through the ruins of an anchient city, while a Vault Dweller plants explosives? Hmm?

I voted other. I think any one game by it's self would be to limitting. Just not enough characters in any one franchise to keep it going for long. That being said I think it would be best to do companys such as Capcom or Nintendo. I mean really just how many zombies could they make... :p

I'd personally lean toward Megaman, though it would be hard to represent weapon copy with the current rules...

Either there could be Feats for each weapon, and they go to the character that kills the original holder, or they could just do a few different versions of Megaman, for example a "Heat" Megaman that's red, and alternates between EE/Barrier and his normal RS/raw damage state along his dial. Perhaps they could break the REVs like that. R = default, E = stronger stolen ability, V = better stolen ability or two different abilities that alternate.

I responed other. I would not like to see them included in Heroclix. If they were to do it I would rather see it as it's own game. Maybe Mortal Kombat or Tomb Raider could work, but that would open up the door for Sonic the Hedgehog and Donkey Kong types of characters. I think these are too cartoony to be in Heroclix. Even Street Fighter is too cartoony for me. I know it sounds weird to call it too cartoony for a comic book game, but that's how it seems to me.

12/06/2005, 17:27
if WK was going to make a clix game for a specific video game I would like to see an Advance Wars clix game, and of course it would not be compatible with the other clix games.

If they were going to add some video game characters to hero clixs (of course its not like they havent already) I would say its to hard to decide, people would be argueing whos faster sonic or he flash and stuff like that.

I wouldnt mind seeing a samus aran or maybe mega man in heroclix. The mega man series has some cool chacters that might be interesting in heroclix.

I dont know if anyone would want it, but there is a Sonic the Hedgehog comic so technically you could see sonic characters in hero clix as part of indy.

Sonic himself might make an interesting clix, a dial full of hypersonic speed and BCF I would think lol

I voted other because I would like to see The Prince of Persia no doubt for shout! The Prince would have Leap/Climb throughout dial to represent his acrobatic ability. Blades/Claws/Fangs to represent his many weapons including the Dagger of Time. Regeneration to represent the fact he can redo time. His R could be based on the Sands of Time, his E on Warrior Within, and his V on the Two Thrones. E would probably have a higher attack value with maybe Charge and Willpower to represent his more brutal way of fighting than the R and V. And maybe a U Dark Prince from the Two Thrones, with his chain/ blade weapon that comes out of his arm. So he would have range, and blades.

Farah could be included with 8 or 10 Range with Running Shot because of her use of a bow and arrow. Shadee and Kailienna (the Empress of Time) would have blades. The Dahka, who would be a giant figure, with Hypersonic because he chases the Prince and NOTHING gets in his way. He would also have Super Strength, Icap. with 6 range because he can capture people. The Vizier would have Outwit and Mastermind.

Give em a TA that duplicates stealth (Batman TA) and I'm sold.I was thinking of the exact same thing. In fact I have done a dream set, though I never posted it. I just may put the finishing touches and post it.

Vulcan Raven, Vamp (maybe use Steal Energy correctly), Solid Snake, In Contact with Otacon, Solidus Snake and others. It could be awesome!

1) If we have a deal with Capcom that means Megaman which is what i really want anyway

2) Under this game system you couldn't accuratly do FF characters. Those games are all about costomization and i know for one that my charaters were pretty suped up. Although I wouldn't mind having a Yuna that triple casts Ultima for 68 clix of damage.

Why introduce video game characters into the mix. There are still a ton of characters left in the comic book realm to make. Plus if you want to play a game with your favorite video game personalities, go ahead and play a video game (I bet you there stats are more actuately protraied there). Let's get the balance in game play between Marvel and DC powers and characters right (and maybe, just maybe make more Indy) before you start throwing in people from outside the world of 2D comics.

I voted Legend of Zelda, and while that is still a very high choice for me, I think Castelvania would be way cooler.

Problem would be having REV characters. Any game in which a character leveled up would be easy, but in all the early castelvania games you didn't level up.

I would also love to see a unique version of Alucard with one of the familiars carrying the most overpowered weapon in SotN, the Crissagraem (or however it's spelled)

Third choice would be final fantasy, but only if they didn't do anyone from the Tactics games. REV's of playable characters and uniques of the bad guys and non-playable characters.

ooh ooh, and they could do a giant figure, Diamond Weapon ( I say diamond because it's the only weapon you HAVE to defeat in FF7)

God, suikoden would be perfect. It would also be more mageknight-esque, but with a minimum of 107 characters (heroes) per game not including villains, monsters, etc it would be awesome. None of the others would have that kind of background to work with.

For a seperate game, Suikoden would be best. For a integrated game a capcom thing would be best. Ken and Ryu should so be able to beat down superman.

I'm sorry, but have you ever played the Metal Gear games? The only robot in the game is Metal Gear. All the other characters are people, genetically enhanced people or just obscure people. Granted I am not too familiar with Mech Warrior, but to my understanding, and what I gather from the video games, it is all about fighting robots. That is not what Metal Gear is about.

I gotta concur on the Freedom Force Clix. "RIGHT MAKES MIGHT!"

As far as Metal Gear being anything like Mechwarrior, WHAT!? Espionage isnt the same as blowing stuff up in big robotic suits.

I believe he's thinking of "Heavy Gear" which is a battletech-like miniatures game of giant robots from a company called, I think, Dream Pod 9.

I voted Streetfighter II. I don't know that I'd like to see characters from most video games as HC figures, but there is a certain warm, fuzzy feeling that stirs inside my brain when I think of Vega fighting Wolverine or Chun Li taking on Elektra. Also, I'd love to see Bison get trounced by Magneto or Doctor Doom. :classic:

Final Fantasy might also be interesting. Hmmm.

The name of the game is HEROclix not Super Mario Clix. Keep it real keep it HEROclix.

It's a good thing this is a hypothetical question. ;)

And if that were the case, it would be called "ComicBookClix", not "HeroClix". Heroes can be found in comic books, novels, TV shows, movies, video games, in my basement or at your local bar. :)

@ delowen - Touche. Now that I think about it, there are many games that have a similar name that deals with giant fighting robots. Is "Guilty Gear" one? Me forgets.

They could make a HeroClix game, and use "Heros" from public domain stories, and then they would have to make the super heros available to use in the game rather generic because I'm sure the cost of liscencing at that point would be too high.

Sorry, I don't play many video games. It sounded like military combat. My point is does it have a large number of notable characters worth clix dials?

All these suggestions are stupid for the most part as they've already got comic games in those genres and none of them encompass what Heroclix is at all. If they're going to make a Heroclix game, it should be just that. Anything else and you have what's already out on the market right now.

I think the video fame idea would be cool and it would get more people collecting the game.

I agree. Most of the suggestions given are too limited for a whole set of Heroclix, and the characters are not really superheroes and supervillians. Although FF7, Mortal Kombat, and Capcom are similar to comicbook heroes, I would much rather see Cyberforce, the Phantom, Savage Dragon, and the many other Indy comic superhero/villian characters that are out there unmade.

Breath of Fire series I MAY have heard of this, but I won't comment till I'm sure, this has the sword guys, Marth and .... other sword guy who's not link :nervous: from Super Smash brothers? If so they could work, but I see the same problem as Zelda BCF for everyone!!

You're thinking of the Fire Emblem series. Not sure what Breath of Fire is.

I would love a Super Smash Bros. themed set. 25 to 27 of the character slots could be given to the characters that appear in Smash Bros. Melee, while the other thirteen could be given to other Nintendo characters.

I also think that clix of Sonic characters would be cool, only as a collector set instead of a full set. I think there have been enough Sonic characters to have 2 separate collector sets, one with Sonic and his allies, and one with villians like Egghead and Shadow.

Don't feel like reading 12 pages, and I'm sure it's already been mentioned. I voted other & think a Xmen legends style game would be pretty cool.

Psst, the poll is to make a Video Game into Clix, not Clix into a Video Game ;) .

Yeah it would. The Jak series and Prince of Persia series are my favorite PS2 games. A Dark Prince clix would dominate Dark Jak clix though.
