Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.
Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.
So, what say you all?
Next Film: ??????
a movie so good they couldn't remake it today with our PC environment.
I give it a 9 for all the excellent humor plus 1 because it annoys the PC crowd for a whopping 10
Hey, just a quick Oops and Sorry to krusticlese who suggested a really good choice for our next match (and one I planned to do cept I just plain forgot) :) Ill get your pick in next one KC, promise.
As for me, yeah I agree with my Uru friend, this is definately a classic of the genre.
Blazing Saddles to me is Mel Brooks' finest and funniest work. Made during a time when he was the king of slapstick comedy, this un PC film (what was PC back then anyway) made fun, and harshly, pretty much Everyone. A western comedy with a great cast of characters, that ended with God knows what, and more laughs than you can fart around a campfire at. :)
Long before Mel Brooks went to the Dark Side and started making stinkers, he made some true comedic classics, this being my favorite of them all.
Blazing Saddles - 9.5 / 10

I don't remember laughing a single time while watching this movie.
Probably just not my kind of humour.
3/10
I'm going with an 8. It's funny but I like robin Hood better. Overall it's a hilarious movie, but I wouldn't watch it more than once.
Current HCR Member Rating:

Actually, yes, and I even have it in my dvd collection. I also enjoyed Robin Hood.
I used to enjoy them a lot more when I was younger, though. Back then I would have rated them 8/10, while now it'd be more like 6/10. Same for Spaceballs.
Young Frankenstein I'd rate at 5/10, and that high only because of the performance of Marty Feldman.
Looks like we have our wires crossed my friends and well have to agree to disagree. I consider Mel Brooks' older films to be by far his best works, Blazing Saddles being my favorite and a true comedy classic. Spaceballs, Robin Hood Men In Tights, and Dracula Dead And Living It were almost painful to watch (not so much Spaceballs) and the jokes were so obvious you knew they were coming before they even happened. (Spaceballs I saw as a kid and enjoyed it being a HUGE Star Wars guy, but as an adult its lost alot) Mel Brooks hasnt done a good film in a long time in my humble opinion.
I actually know Dracula Dead and loving it is a really bad movie.
Its so bad its funny, but still bad.
its classic mel brooks.
but its no history of the world.
heh. check the avatar!
Okay, so I finally got around to voting here.
As I said back in the Blues Brothers thread, this is probably the only movie that's been on the list that I've voluntarily seen more than the Blues Brothers. I can honestly think of few movies that laugh at as much rewatching it as I did the first time. This is one of them. A definite 10 out of 10 here.

I'd give it a 7 of 10. A good movie. A funny movie, but not a great movie.
I'm with DTM on the Mel Brooks thing. His films really deteriorated as you get later in his career. The Producers was great. Young Frankenstein, I thought was brilliant. His best, I think. It worked on so many different levels. Not only was it a very funny movie, but it also had heart. Something you can't say for most of his other films. With Blazing Saddles, he went strictly for the non-stop gags, and it worked, but it lacked any real depth. History of the World, Part 1 also had enough genuine laughs to be good. After that though, I really can't watch his later films. Spaceballs, Men in Tights, they're not funny, they're just silly. They're Mad Magazine parodies on the big screen. I expect more from my comedies than goofy character names and flatulence jokes.

7.5/10
Blazing Saddles is definately a classic of the commedy film lot. I still get a chuckle out of the 'Randolph Scott' bit, if only because I love Western films. However, it was surpassed by two other Brook's works (Young Frankenstein is Mel Brook's best film, definately an 8.5/10, and I enjoy Spaceballs a lot more, probably an 8/10). Yet Blazing Saddles can still make you grin. Be aware it's rather politically incorrect if you get offended by such things. The line about 'Badges, we don't need no stinking badges' has been copied by tons of other commedies out there.

One of those movies I can just play in the background and chuckle at and even recite. Clevon Little is brilliant as is Gene Wilder. Madeline Khan is the best. :)

HOLY CRUD, a movie that CJ actually Did Not rate a 1 or 2. (as Ive just been going through all of the new ratings, and literally you have thought everything Ive checked so far as being the worse piece of trash ever put on film in the history of cinema)
You do realize there are several numbers in between 9 and 2, right? :)

8.3 out of 10 - 'nuff said.
Big fan of Gene Wilder/Mel Brooks no matter what they do. This was hilarious, but I think Young Frankenstein is just a wee bit better.
Any movie that pokes fun at the triple-K is ok in my book. Good Looney-Tunes moments too.
