I believe Arsenal had a drug problem (or so I've heard).

Iron Man, probably, but I couldn't tell you when
I think Hercules is drunk pretty much every time you see him. Specifically, I remember him going into battle drunk when he was in Heroes for Hire, and trying to get Galactus drunk in his 80s miniseries. (Brilliant plan, Herc!)
Also, I think the characters in Preacher were drunk through the entire series.
In She-Hulk #1 (the previous series, not the current one), She-Hulk beat Blizzard by drinking him under the table.
At his 40th birthday, John Constantine convinced the Swamp Thing to grow him a huge marijuana plant, and proceeded to get everyone at the party stoned, including Zatanna. I don't think any crime was fought, tho.

There are many instances of characters fighting while under the influence of drugs that they did not purposely take. I seem to remember this happening to Nick Fury and Batman quite often.

Not really stoned, but The Patriot from Young Avengers had all of his adventures so far while under the influence of some performance-enhancing drug.
In the Comico series the Justice Machine, which I read in the 80s, the Speed Demon character relied on some kind of amphetamine for his powers

I think there was a member of the Authority who was a drug addict of some sort, but someone else will need to provide details.

Iron Man had a drinking problem, and fought battles drunk (think it's Iron Man 180 where he kicks the bottle, but this was more then 15-20 years ago).

Warbird is a recovered alcholic. See the start of the last Avengers series and Iron Man. She goes into battle drunk off her kiester several times (fights Iron Man quite often there for a while, causing serious damage because she's so drunk she doesn't even know where she is any more).

Wolverine has fought battles totally smashed.

Captain Britain is an alcoholic, who used to have all kinds of problems both on and off the field because of it.

Batman was a Venom addict at one point in his career (years before Bane was even a name being thought of).

Lex Luthor fought Superman and Batman while high on Kryptonite.

Hourman (Rex and Rick) both use the drug Miraclo to gain their powers.

Hercules I think is permanently pissed (ie drunk), recently he fights Thor while completely tanked in Thor: Blood Oath, again, he's drunk almost the entire time of his recent mini series.

Back when he was Speedy he was addicted to Heroin. It was shown here (http://superherouniverse.com/superheroes/images/greenlantern/wallpaper/green-arrow-green-lantern.jpg) in this classic cover.

A few years earlier Harry Osborn was addicted to acid, though this was before he became the goblin. I think it was the first use of drugs in a mainstream comic.

The only other time that hasn't been mentioned was way back in an issue of Spider-Man from the 80s (I think) where Spidey drank some spiked punch at a party and then had to fight the Hobgoblin drunk. The main highlight was when he swung around a radio tower and tied himself up in his own webbing. Not his best moment.

Captain America got his abilities through a super serum :nervous:

Hourman(s) pops pills to gain power. The second one was quite addicted.

I believe there are a lot more Bad guys who use the drugs than there are good :)

Captain America #372-378 Streets of Poison storyline where Cap is taking down an Ice drug factory when it explodes with him inside it. He takes a large dose of the drug and goes on a rampage for a few issues while fighting the likes of Daredevil, Bullseye, Black Widow, Diamondback and Crossbones. It was a good story you might like.

In Ultimates: Super-Human (the first arc of the first series), Tony Stark mentions that he wasn't totally frightened fighting the Hulk, thanks to the "dutch courage" he drank before going into the fray.

Like the Spider-Man reference above, one issue of New Mutants (#52?) featured alien drug dealers convincing Sam Guthrie, Cannonball, to take drugs in order to be cool for his rockstar girlfriend, Lila Cheney. He then has to fight the aliens, hopped up on goofballs. The whole team learns a valuable lesson about peer pressure and the dangers of using drugs. "...and knowing is half the battle."

And Cypher got drunk at hte hellfire Club and went into action wiht a serious hangver. With as much as he drank i dont think he was close to being sober, but they always said that mutants burn off booze and stuff faster then reg humans.

During the Masters of Evil storyline in the Avengers 1st series - Hercules stormed Avengers mansion drunk to attack the Masters (who had already secured the mansion).

He was beaten to a pulp by Tiger Shark, Goliath and the Wrecking Crew and went into a coma.

This eventually led to the Avengers vs. Olympians storyline.

During one of the X men annuals, the one with the Horde, Wolverine came home drunk and bowled over Dazzler or Havok as he ran to see who was attacking the mansion.

What looks strange now, is looking back at Tales to Astonish, and the early Avengers issues that came out before Viet Nam and the Hippie movement hit their heights and seeing Giant Man putting pills in his mouth to grow and shrink! I can't imagine ANY character being allowed using PILLS to give them their super powers now!

There's a great bar brawl in an issue of X-men (180-ish) where Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Colossus end up out at a bar and Peter gets in a fight with Cain Marko (juggernaut without hios armor...).

I seem to recall Punisher shooting up some heroin after getting his face all cut to pieces because it's a derivitibve of Morphine... or something.

Don't remember him getting into a fight afterwards.... I know that's how he got the drugs.

That was anything by Grant Morrison. The Authority (one of his creations) was a team full of drugies so I am told. He likes to write alot of people getting hammered or stoned in his stories.

I remeber Iron man and Warbird teaming up to stop Goldie and robo or some random robots and tony realizing the carol was drunk, or at least had been drinking

the last poster mentioned Warbird... she fought some folks drunk when struggling with alcoholism, and eventually got hauled in front of a panel of Avengers for review. You can catch it in the Supreme Justice trade, collecting Avengers Vol 3 #5-7, Avengers/Squadron Supreme annual '98, Iron Man Vol 3 #7, Captain America Vol 3 #8, Quicksilver #10.

Grant didn't make the Authority, Warren Ellis did (and a NON-Grant person named Morrison did a later run). The Doctor, however, was a drug addict. If the others ever did (and they did throw some parties), they kept it under control and off the field for the most part. And in Jenny Spark's early days she was with a macho hero that once was convinced to take some drugs (went to take in the people with it, they said he wasn't "manly enough" to handle them, his ego made him take an OD...) and went on a rampage until she fried him.

Back to Grant, Animal Man and a friend once took some heavy hallucinagines as part of a 'vision question' thing, of course.

Not really on drugs herself, but Vera Black onces went under cover as "Miss Morphine". Yea, that must've been fun.

Oh yea, and Martian Manhunter is a recovering oreo addict. According to some reports, he had it bad at some times (there's a story about a rampage after Beetle and Booster got rid of every Oreo in a 200 mile radius...). Although that was told second-hand.

In League of Extradordinary Gentlemen, Quatermain was an opium addict. He fought Hyde under the influence as well as the patrons in the Opium den where Mina found him.
