Fantastic Forces
Armor Wars

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Armor Wars. Fantastic Forces was most definately my favorite overall for the longest time, but now that I've had a chance to play more of the pieces from AW it's moved up. The older sets have some good pieces and Ultimates was the first "great" set to me (for Marvel). I really like Mutant Mayhem's filler as it allowed for some great rounded out teams. But Fantastic Forces was the first set to really wow me. I found more playable pieces (big and small) and it made for some great balanced teams even in sealed. Armor Wars hit the scene and I was surprised how well it stacked up against each other set and, IMO, surpased them. I find myself reaching for AW pieces more and more whether for theme teams (which I play most of the time) or any other team.
I have to go with Xplosion. I can't think of the last time I built a competitive team that did not have at least one Xplosion figure on it.

Hmm... wonder how many votes will come in for Universe? :p
MM is my pick. The character selection meant absolutely nothing to me at the start, but it was cool to spend the time to learn about them. And as a bonus, the Marauders (with Mr. Sinister) are a fun team to play, Alpha Flight's fun to play, Silver Sable with the Suicide Squad is fun, and so is a team of multiple Cloaks.
Possibly the best assortment of secondary attackers in one set, too, with Havok, Domino, Northstar and Puck.
And after a year's worth of feats and BFCs, that original batch stands up to the test of time. The feats are fun to use and they're more balanced on average than the other sets of feats.
Yes, I even have some appreciation for Fastball Special. You just have to pair up a GL with either Defenders Hulk+Beast or Hawk+Cyborg or Sasquatch+Puck, and it'll work. It's kinda fun.

Wow! Talk about a tough choice!
Clobberin Time is overrated IMHO. It's a good set, especially on the character selection front. But there aren't many truly playable figures.
With the exception of Fantastic Forces and Universe. The Marvel sets have rocked since Critical Mass.
So my choice is between:
Ultimates
Armor Wars
Mutant Mayhem
And my previous favorite X-Plosion.....
I'll have to give this more thought.

we need a "i don't collect marvel" choice

Inf challenger is still the best set because I get the more classic characteres for my collection.
Cyclops Unique
Xavier
The more iconic Spider-man sculp
Scarlet Witch
Quicksilver
Hercules
Hobgoblin
Wolverine and Wolverine Brown uniforme the only Cool Wolverine what I collect
Black Phanter
Vision!
Thanos
Wasp
what a great set, no a villians or X or ultimates set
:p
we need a "i don't collect marvel" choice
DC will be next friday's poll. I figured to break up the universes in two seperate polls as there are people who are STRICT DC or STRICT Marvel
It was a close tie for me between Ultimates and FF. I went with FF because it rounded out the Avengers so well. It also finally gave us usable Giant figures that were more than sitting ducks for the RCE crowd. Last but not least, nowadays when you play the Fantastic Four your opponnents don't laugh when they see you setting them up at the start of the game.

Tough choice! Although Inifnity is a great set, I went with Cloberin' Time. It's got everything from the basics like Support and TK all the way up to some of the most powerful pieces in the game, like Doom and Thor. It may not have some of the new fancy stuff (cards, transporters, giants), but it has a lot of recognizable characters who haven't been made for the 15th time.
I really like Ultimates. Good characters choices, and the Marquee was amazingly fun.

This was a hard choice. The past 4 sets have all been outstanding, and I have a huge soft spot for CT too.
In the end, FF's new mechanics broke the tie even though giant rules are a tad confusing.
The vote is turning out like I thought it would. The sets with the power figs and the newer sets are getting most of the votes. There is nothing wrong with that but I looked at my own personal fun factor when I voted.
I would have to say my favorite set has been IC. My buddies and I picked up a case of IC on ebay really cheap and we've been drafting it. There are three of us and we take two boosters each. That makes for 8 drafts! It has been a ton of fun. You get to play with pieces you never would play with in a million years plus you get to pick up some old favorites. Sometimes cheap is good.

Ultimates. It came out at the same time as my first trip to Comic Con, so I got SO many good figs. In one saturday I pulled Iron Man, traded it for Thor and bought Hulk and Xorn. Good times, good times.

I would have to say Infinite Challenge. It is the set that started it all. Others may be more powerful, but I would still have to pick this set as my favorite one from marvel. Besides three of the figures stil get lots of use by myself and my two sons and thats Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Black Panther.
In unrestricted team events Quasar and Vet Thor also see lots of play when we field an Avengers team. Especially when the events are 1000 up to 1500 point armies.
I voted Armor Wars as well although I was in between it and the Ultimates set. I went with Armor Wars because to me it just seems that it is the funnest set to play with in my opinion. I realized when I was looking at the other sets there was just a few figures that I actually enjoyed playing while in Armor Wars basically everything is fun to field. My only problem with Armor wars is some figures seem toned down from how they should be but as long as their fun to play I can deal with it. Also, the set makes you think a lot more while playing focusing more on positioning because their isn't any cheap tk or power pieces that can just annihilate your opponents armies like there have been in past sets, IC=Firelord,Jean GreyCT=Nightcrawler/Doom, Moondragon XP=Doc Sampson, Destiny CM=Ulik maybe?, Ultimates=Thor, Marvel Girl MM=Count Nefaria/Gladiator Polaris.

I was torn between Ultimates (for Captain America) and FF (New FF and Professor X)...since I play Professor X a LOT, and I'm also a HUGE FF fan...I decided on Fantastic Forces.

Well, after serious deliberations, I chose.............................Ultimates.
I think it had everything that I could want in a set, in terms of character selection and playability!

There aren't many truly playable uniques, you mean? The regular set is full of goodies!

No, I meant that the set as a whole didn't have many playable figures. The ones that were, were wonderful. But in the end, Clobberin Time (and Unleashed) had more on the surface, than actual substance.
Of course this is MY opinion.

Mutant Mayhem - All those new rules.

FF overall for me... transporters, giants, great character slection (Ultimate FF, Thunderbolts, Power Man & Iron fist...) pretty much every character is useable (if not always great).
The somewhat unpopular Critical Mass would be my second pick, mainly for the U's, but also figures like Moonstone, Ulik, Corsair & Hepzibah, Spider-Man & Venom, and Absorbing Man.

I was torn between Critical Mass, Fantastic Forces, and Ultimates. I loved Critical Mass so much more than most people. It had Venom, for goodnes sake! Fantastic Forces was the most fun at the marquee. But I went with Ultimates because of all of the just totally awesome figs in that set.
I went with Clobberin' Time.
Any set that gives us Doctor Doom gets my vote.

i said AW only because its the set ive had the most time with.
*hugs set*
I plumped for Fantastic Forces just because of some of the great characters - Iron Fist, Luke Cage, the Thunderbolts - but I've got a genuine liking for Armour Wars because of its internal consistency. It's a very balanced set, as shows up well in sealed environment games.
"Yes, I even have some appreciation for Fastball Special." Heck - try it with Doc Ock throwing Mr Hyde in a Sinister Syndicate team. Great fun. Load up Hyde with Haymaker for when he gets there as well and he's not so much of a laughing stock as normal.

Ultimates, hands down - most playable Hulk and a Thor that is the best in the game - not to mention LE Danny Ketch, V Cyclops, etc.

Ultimates or Clobberin' Time.
Clobberin' Time gave us the FF, Dr. Doom, Thor, Nightcrawler, Hawkeye (okay, so he wasn't all that great, I used him often enough and did just fine with him), and others.
Ultimates gave us the Ultimates (duh! but it meant a new, and potent Thor, a new and fully playable Captain America, a new Iron Man that doesn't stink, a good Hawkeye, and a good Black Widow), Punisher and Ghost Rider (go Danny Ketch, go!), Captain Britain (yay!), Baron Zemo (bout time), Scourge, and others

It was a difficult choice between Fantastic Forces (Green Goblin and Dr. Strange) and Armor Wars (Spidey, Tony Stark, and the Ultrons).
Sorry Norman, but Spidey always will beat ya'. That and diverse figure dials, too.

For me, it's all about character selection, and that puts Clobberin' Time way in front. So many of my favorites in the set and the best selection of Uniques of any Marvel set. Infinity Challenge was fun just because it was the first, but Clobberin' Time really did it for me.

I went with Clobberin' Time.
Any set that gives us Doctor Doom gets my vote.
FF had a Doom
FF had a Doom
yeah buts an Ultimate Doom. a doppleganger-like fake Doom. bah!
I picked Clobberin' TIme because Thor is in it and even many sets later E Thor is a good fig. none of this ultimate hippy thor carp.
Had to go with Armor Wars. Cool new maps and great sculpts and paint jobs.
The vote is turning out like I thought it would. The sets with the power figs and the newer sets are getting most of the votes. There is nothing wrong with that but I looked at my own personal fun factor when I voted.

that is so awesome !!!!!
How much did you pay for the case?
I'd like to have a cheap case of Hypertime.
You can get a cheap case of Indy clicks but that set isn't the most fun for booster drafts. Too much stealth !!!!!

As far as character selection, I liked XP the most, but in the end, I had to choose based on the dials and internal consistancy. So...
I had to go with AW. Top to bottom, it has the most consistant dials and almost every single figure is playable, and none are total carp. No other set can make that claim IMO.
Infinity Challenge...Thanos :devious:

Clobberin' Time had my longtime and still favorite fig, Vet Doom. Not half as powerful after the Enhancement/EE nerf, but still damn good times.

INFINTITY CHALLENGE.
Back when attacks were nice and high.
Black Panther, Quicksilver, Hercules, Wasp, Firelord, U Elektra, Bullseye, R Vulture, E Annihilus, E Ultron, Dr. Strange . . . oh man, those were good times.

Had to go with Clobberin Time, so many of my favorites showed up for the first time. Thor, Black Cat, Dr Doom (and Doombots!), She-Hulk, Enchantress, Nightcrawler, White Queen, and Black Widow all made their debut, as well as a kick-arse version of Wolverine. (Vet Logan is a machine. :classic: ) Also some great villians in Doc Ock, Sandman, Titania, Super Skrull, and Blastaar, plus lots more Brotherhood! Runner-up goes to Ultimates. With Ultimates we finally had playable versions of favorite (and classic) characters: Thor, Cap, Widow, Magneto, Sabretooth, Hawkeye, and Beast, to name a few. Add to that Captain Britain, Phoenix (Rachel), Punisher, Wrecker, Ghost Rider, and a whole mess of Spidey villains, and you've got a great set.

Armor Wars. Slam dunk. I'm a huge Iron Man fan, and getting a repaired Iron Man, Iron Monger, War Machine, Ghost, Spymaster, and Titanium Man were dreams-come-true. The kickass Quicksilver, Captain America, Spider-Woman, and Sentry didn't hurt.

Most people vote based on character representation, playability, rules, etc.
I actually voted for Infinity Challenge. It's the set that started it all for me. I awaited these new minis for months. Then found out I loved the game too. I traded, bought and sold IC clix for a long time. I played in tournaments. I repainted some of the figs.
I still collect and don't have time to play as much anymore and I know many of the newer sets are superior in playability, sculpt quality, etc. but IC is like my first love. You never forget that. :)

I love Fantastic Forces. Just the aesthetic of the giant and double based figures had a great impact on the game, for me. Plus, there's a ton of great pieces in there: Hawkeye, Lockjaw, Karma, Ghost Rider, Asp, Shocker, Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Green Goblin/Norman, Sub-Mariner, the list just goes on...

I definately agree with this (with Clobberin' Time and Unleashed).
I voted Clobberin' Time. It had Thor, Logan, Black Cat (who I still use), and many others mentioned that were good.

I'd like to make a write-in for Sinister. It already looks like it could feed my thirst for villains, making it my favorite set!
So no official vote.
