View Full Version : Problem with item from ebay

So I go my item today, and it looks all well and nice, until I checked the flight stand. I know characters from Xplosion have the sectional peg holders, but this one has one like the ones from Hypertime, and Clobberin' Time. Not only that, it was glued so the souring marker is inbetween the character name and point value.
So my problem is that it was listed as being in excellent condition and never played. All noticably false. Or could it perhaps have been a factory mistake. What kind of feedback should I leave?
I think before you leave any feedback, you should contact the seller with your concerns. It sounds like its not "excellent unplayed condition" but he might have a good reason.

I contacted the seller and noticed he or she has nothing but positve feedback. I'd hate to be the first to do otherwise, but it may have to be done.
In reality if they have a fair amount of feedback then 1 negative isn't going to do much to hurt their reputation. You'll need to work with the seller if you want a resolution. What fig did you get? Those older flight pegs are nicer for the most part.

Take this as you want.
You are the kind of buyer that expects perfection and then when things don't go your way you are ready to blow the world up!
If you did not even contact the seller- then it is equally your fault! There are always circumstance and reasons when things go wrong besides deliberate fraud. Now we have no idea of your purchase size or dollar amount as they don't matter. Perhaps the seller did not know, did not notice the difference, perhaps someone else packed the box.
If a seller has 100% (depending on how many stars) he is very lucky because once someone like you comes along it can never be 100% again. If the seller is interested in protecting his reputation- he will work with you. If you get no response, or a too bad for you response-- THEN you have every right to NEGATIVE him.
It is obvious that you are relatively new to EBay, the whole idea is to make everyone mutually happy. You paid the price you wanted, the seller got paid and you both win.
Remember once feedback is left, it is hard to be removed. As well- are you prepared for a negative back (This customer does not communicate!- will surely be left for you)
It is your choice. Be smart.

He/ She asked nicely for some advice...
I wholeheartedly agree in regards to contacting the seller and trying to work it out.

Torontcollectr makes a lot of sense.
Always contact the seller first to ask for resolution. If he's an @ss go at him all guns blazing, but 99% of the time he had no idea he was doing wrong and will make it right for you.

Yes the buyer asked for advice-
But also said "I was going to leave a negative"--- without even contacting the seller. The seller's feedback of 100% deterred him (He should have checked the seller's feedback before purchase too)
The same holds true anywhere- communication or the lack there of can make all the difference.
Negatives should be a last resort. Ebay runs a tutorial about when to leave a negative and strongly discourages people (especially newcomers) from leaving negatives WITHOUT ATTEMPTING contact first.
On Ebay, as here at HC REALMS, as anywhere else- mistakes happen, most of the time they are nobody's fault (sometimes carelessness, or improper communication, questions not asked, assumptions made, and ignorance of the item or preocedure), but if no contact is made how can there be a peaceful resolution.?
We have dealt with 1000s both here (obviously not that many here) and on EBay and you would be amazed how many people don't read, don't communicate.
Again we urge you to deal with your issue, before blowing the whistle.

First off, I did contact the seller(see second post), and have not left any feedback yet. And no, receiveing an item in a way other than described on the auction is not my fault. I've been on ebay plently of times but thanks for assuming otherwise.

If you contacted the seller what was the response? How much time has elapsed between you sent the problem to him.
Feedback can be left at anytime (up to 60 days after auction end).
Yes we assumed you had not been on EBay long because of your question. Negative feedback is to be left when no other satisfaction, recourse is available. If we all chose violence instead of negotiations it would be anarchy.
We understand your frustration and disappointment in getting an undesired figure.
Did you give the seller any options? Refund, partial refund, exchange, future credit?
Guess we are trying to give you the seller's point of view- and while we don't condone his actions, we also recognize that from every mistake there is a chance for redemption., if that chance is given.
The flipside is that there are also buyers (do not take this as being you) who will make false claims to the seller to weasel extras (money, product, etc). On one occasion we had to deal with a buyer who we know received the right item- but claimed he did not. We offered full compensation including return shipping for the item (because we know we sent the right item). He just wanted it for free (refund and keep the item!), he refused the deal.
Keep trying.

Well it's been a couple days and they have yet reply back. Though, the seller has already left me positive feedback prior to me sending them my concerns. Maybe I'll leave a neutral feedback, I dunno. What should I do?

Give them till next monday to reply (drop them another note or 2 as well) and if you still hear nothing leave them negative and/or contact Ebay.
While it was a case of you pondering negative feedback without contacting them I was against it, but if they send you damaged goods and can't reply in over a week to a complaint they don't deserve a neutral IMO.
