I am posting this story as an amusing anticdote to all of you Ebay sellers. Last week I had a General Zod for sale on E-bay. It was going for 10 dollars, which I thought was a reasonable price.
To my surprise it didn't sell.
So I go today to relist the item and imagine my surprise when I discover the reason why it didn't sell.
If you're standing, sit down. This is funny.
The shipping charge was 30 dollars.
I got a little too zero happy when I went to enter that 3 dollars into the shipping cost.
Oh well, mistakes are made. The weird part was I had someone watching the auction and odds are... it was one of you. So who was it?
you think that someone would have emailed you to make sure the shipping was 30 dollars.

Wasn't me, but that's pretty funny. Best of luck on your next go.

And, you know, some eBay sellers *really* do this sort of thing.
They'll sell you something really valuable for a penny and then charge 20 or 30 dollars shipping, since eBay only charges the seller based on the price it sold for, not based on the price of shipping.
If the shipping was only $20, I would have bought it.

Well you know what? It's relisted with shipping at three dollars. Go and bid.
Also FYI, I'd have totally spent the shipping money on shipping. Like next day air, tracking, all that nice stuff.

I was shopping for a PDA last week, and found what I was looking for at a pretty reasonable Buy it Now. Then I check shipping - get this - $105.00
I actually e-mailed the seller, and he never got back to me. So you $30 charge isn't, unfortunately, automatically going to register as an accident when somebody looks at the page.
Good luck with the relisting. I'm sure that it will go, with $3 shipping.

Y'know--I've played against General Zod and I can't remember one click of his dial.
Maybe I never hit him.
That happens to me sometimes.

For $30 for one Clix, I would have wanted you to drive it to me. And pick me up a Happy Meal on the way!
I was shopping on ebay the other day and was looking at this stupid item that's like 1/2 a pound and the shipping (standard UPSP) was $12. On a $5 item that should cost $2 to ship.
Needless to say, I dind't get it.

UPS shipping for Ground for a 2 LB box from TN to California is $6 approx, depending on your arrangements with UPS.
Shipping is the biggest moneymaker on Ebay.

Shipping is the biggest moneymaker on Ebay.My bad for mis-typing. I meant: USPS - US Postal Service.
Standard parcel post with USPS is cheap. (For when you absolutely, positively don't care if you get it tomorrow or not.)

No we were not watching it...
But isn't $30.00 the typical shipping price to Canada?- yes sarcastic
It certainly seems that to take the time to fill out a customs form has doubled the price to Canada (compared to USA).
Sure it will sell next time around at the regular shipping cost.

Well I always say, for shipping to Canada, add 10 bucks. That usually makes it balance out. What I don't understand is why the US, Canada, and Mexico can't unify their postal systems. It would save a lot of grief and with a Unified customs department packages would arrive faster and safer than before.
