CRITICAL HIT THE ONLY HEROCLIX MONTHLY MAGAZINE ISSUE 2!!!
Good day all, ISSUE TWO of The FREE Heroclix Monthly Magazine is now available. If you already asked for a copy you will automatically get the magazine. If you did not get a copy then PM me with your address and I will send it to you ASAP. I will try my best to get these out as fast as possible. ENJOY.
Please use this thread for feedback....
I am working on getting the magazine out. I have sent out 400 copies so far. My email only allows so many messages to be sent out PER hour. I still have around 430 more to send out. EVERYONE who subscribed SHOULD have the magazine by 1am EST. Oh and if you work for the DEFENSIVE unit of a country (ie military). I am unable to send the document to you as the filter sends it back to me.
A FEW RETRACTIONS/MISTAKES
In the Sentry article:
Captain America can not use inspired command in the manner he does
Sentry Can not use Swingline
IN THE GL TANK article
Hawkeye can only carry 8 people not 12
Where do you subscribe?
You Pm me your e-mail, and I will send it to you. I just finished sending out ALL the subscriptions 823 copies NICE!!!!
I do apologize Issue One is archived and I will not be sending out copies of it, you will be getting issue two when you request it.
Just finished my copy of issue two. Another great job!
Do you mind if I print off a copy for the players at my venue? Even though they are mostly casual players and not the hardcore like most HCRealms members, I'm sure they would love your magazine as well.

Go right on ahead. Remember it is 88 pages (with no advertisements) so it might be hard on your printer. If anyone has players that do not attend HCREALMS you can give me their e-mail addresses and they can be added to the list. I would like to gauge how many people are receiving the magazine. Currently based on e-mails I would there are 834 (just got some more subscribers). I figured if 100 of those are judges that print it out and give it to at least 4 players, around 1000 players should be getting the magazine overall.

Nice job overall. Really enjoyed it!
Just wanted to point out a little factual error in one of the articles (not your fault, I know):
In the article on the GL tank teams, the author states that a Hawkeye using the GLC TA can carry 12 figs. He cannot. The TA specifically states that they may carry up to 8 instead of 1, not that they can carry any number of figures.
Keep up the good work man....
That would be my fault. DOH!!! That will be one of the two retractions I have to put in the next issue. Just to kind of let everyone know. This is a LARGE document that was sent. If you have trouble downloading it in adobe format, just email me and I will send you it in microsoft word
Great Job. I just went through the issue quickly, but what I saw I really liked. You've picked some great topics and presented them in an easily understood format. Thanks for all the hard work.

Hey Rock, the 2nd ish looks fantastic! Great job. Just one thing though, could you confirm that Michael dela Paz (who's featured in Custom Clix) is really from Brazil as you stated in the article? I seem to remember that he's from the Philippines.
Otherwise, please keep up the great work!

Great Job rock!!
Rock,
Got the new issue and it looks awesome. I saw your post about not being able to send to certain address's and was wondering if you have thought about zipping the file to send it out? I did a test and when I zipped it it reduced the size by about 400k now that does not sound like alot but if you have to e-mail 830 thats pretty big. Also it may help it get past the filters. We use it at work all the time for just that purpose. Just a thought.

Rock, your magazine is great!
Great Job rock!!
Let me echo these sentiments. Loved it.
One question: No mention of The General in an article about Regeneration?

If you're sending to certain military addresses (@us.army.mil, for example), any .zip files you attach will be stripped off or bounced. You might be bounced as a "bulk mailer." You might be bounced for attachment size.
If you need a test subject, I have a us.army.mil address, and a hood.army.mil address (but only for a few more weeks on the second one).
(Alternately, once I get set up after my move, I could see if sending it from *my* military address to just the military folk would get it bounced... I may volunteer to be your military Point Of Contact (POC), but not until April.)
As for this issue: I like the inclusion of the Bystander tokens (and the Placeholders from last issue). It's cool to see this becoming a real community effort, as well.
I would love a copy my address is:

Well Rock810, I finally cracked and registered here. After many years of being a "watcher" in these parts, your zine has spiked my curiousity to the point of making my presence known. This site has been and continues to be a valuable source of info. I look forward to reading your zine.
Long days and pleasant nights!

mate, the mag is GREAT , but shouldn't you consider using a mailing list instead of your email? I'm pretty sure you can import your contacts from your email to a mailing list, try yahoo groups :)

Only official pogs are allowed in tournaments. However, this is really up to your judge (and fellow players).

Yeah, sorry about that. I went back through the article a few days after I'd written it one last time to check the content, and I caught that mistake and one other (Cap can't use Inspire on him he's more points). I edited the mistakes out but by the time I'd sent the article back to Rock he'd already converted the mag to .pdf and was going to send it.
Kudos to the man for getting it out so quickly. Everything looks great!!!! And here's hoping for a corrections page to highlight my shame next issue :disappoin
Great job though, beats any other mag with Heroclix content hands down.

Hey, Awesome job. This is so cool, that you guys are doing this , and its free!!!! I am very grateful. Thanks a lot. It has to be a lot of hard work, that your not getting paid for so you guys deserve a ton of thanks and WK ( who also rocks!) if your listening you should throw some free stuff to everyone involved.

Way to go beefing up the content of the second edition. Lots of good stuff. Haven't gone through all of it yet, but Ludd_Gang's R Trickster article was turly enjoyable and provided a great laugh.
I just started reading the second issue and I'm enjoying all the great content, and the new .pdf format!
I'm curious why you chose to do this in magazine format instead of posting the articles here on HC Realms? These articles are the kind of thing I come to the realms looking for.
I hope that this won't dry up this kind of info from appearing here on the realms.
Just read the 2nd one, and it was really fun... keep it up...
This is just a seperate entity unto itself. A price guide would be dificult to do on the realms, and also posting all those articles in one week would prove daunting. On top of all that there has been a cry out for a magazine of this type. 939 different people (that is how many copies I personally have sent out) must mean there was a need for this.

Yeah my copy went to my junk mail folder....so anyone who was suppose to get a copy and it seems that you didn't, you might try looking in your junk mail folder.
Rock, the magazine came out great, good job! I'm glad I was able to help this time.
And people should tell me if they decide to try Anaconda and whoop some butt with her. ;)

In the St. Valentines Day Brawl article,
I'm sure a few people will have suggestions for couples that you did not list (Destiny and Mystique) or Question the Nightcrawler ShadowCat relationship.
But I must address the Saturn Girl/Cosmic Boy relationship. Saturn Girl was with Lightning Lad, in almost every version of the team, that is the love that survived. They have had children together (one which was morphed in Validus). They may have been some flirtation with Cosmic Boy at one time, but Saturn Girl & Lightning Lad are one of the longest lasting couples in comics!!!
And don't forget Black Canary and Arsenal and Chesire and Arsenal (he is one of the sluttiest male heroes around)!

Have you considered making a PDF of the magazine and posting online, so you don't have to deal with emailing it out?
(I haven't subscribe, in part because of the number of people you have talked about on the list. I don't want to add to the burden!)

The bandwidth requirements of nearly 1000 people downloading it (along with the ones who would just view it multiple times instead of downloading it) might be prohibitive. It might actually be easier for him to do it this way...

As [i]pseudosoldie[i] said, that be a whole lotta bandwidth needed for a free magazine.
There are a couple tricks I am going to try next issue to bring the over-all file size down some. However, I think emailing is just fine.
We'll see.
`The Le
I know earlier someone mentioned that some emails might bounce a zip file of the magazine but since you have to send in phases anyway maybe you can send it to some as a pdf and those who can recieve it as a zip you can send it as a zip...just an idea. :)

Yup, there was an error there Rock, i'm proud to say that Myke dela Paz is indeed one of our "kababayans" here in the Philippines.
Anyway, many thanks for the Online Mag! Here's to more Critical Hits (in my games and in my e-mail)!!

Thank yous to Rock810 and the rest of the crew who put together Critical Hit!! I LOVE THE MAGAZINE!!! As a newbie to HC, I have learned so much about the game just reading through. From both issues, I am working on my Cheese Teams and putting together other teams based on the articles. I also really appreciate the question and answers, along with really looking at different powers or power plays to understand how it all comes together.
Keep up the GREAT work! I look forward to April's issue.
Yup, I've now read issue 2 properly, and it is a thouraghley enjoyable and useful piece of work.
Well done Rock, and all concerned !
Is the guy who did the Archangel mod that was featured in the magazine on HCRealms anywhere ?
Also, while issue 2 opened fine, I was also emailed issue 1, but the Acrobat document in the attachment wouldn't open ... no such problem with 2, so does anyone know what the problem was ?
LoL
All the Best

I knew when I did the article that I would leave some people out. I know A LOT about comics, but I don't know EVERYTHING. That is the exact reason I make sure to tell people to research their themes. Even I make mistakes. I forgot how much of a man-##### that Arsenal is. He doesn't even touch Hawkeye's level, though :). Another one that I forgot was Gwen Stacy and Green Goblin. Bad storyline, but a good combo. Also, want to apologize about the Cosmic Boy/Saturn Girl issue. I've just recently started getting into LEGION, and I thought for sure that they had a relationship at some point. (Am I wrong?)
Don't worry, though. In Issue #3, I have a theme team coming your way that I know MUCH MORE ABOUT. Hopefully, it will not disappoint.
Also, if anyone has suggestions for theme teams that they would like to see featured, PM me, and I might just use your idea!
Thank you all for your constructive criticism. I enjoyed helping with the mag and want to give praise to everyone else who helped as well. Someone had said that they hope Wizkids would take notice and throw some free swag our way? I'm not holding my breath, but one can hope :cheeky: .
Thanks for the bystander tokens!
I noticed that the AIM Recruit and the Hydra Recruit have the same stats, but the AIM Recruit costs more. Is there something missing from the AIM recruit?
