Hey, all. I got this project where I have to make a collage of a song or poem that I like. I'm having trouble of narrowing down what song to use. My first thought was to use Metallica's "Fade to Black" or "One". I also thought of "Lightning Crashes" by Live.

Anyone have any ideas?

What kind of project is that?

And how are we supposed to know what songs or poems you like?

It's a project for my theatre class. We are studying creative design, and she asked us to make a collage interpeting a song or poem that we like. We cannot use any words, letters, or numerals to convey the messages of the song/ poem.

When I asked for suggestion, I meant for you guys to throw out some suggestions of some of you favorite songs/ poems that are some of your favorites, or song that you think would translate well into this project.

I always thought "Sold My Soul" by Zakk Wylde (off his solo album 'Book of Shadows') had a nice visual quality to it.

A collage as in "picture made from magazine clippings and the like"?

My favourite poem in English is Henry Arthur Dobson's A Kiss:
Rose kissed me to-day.
Will she kiss me tomorrow?
Let it be as it may,
Rose kissed me today.
But the pleasure gives way
To a savour of sorrow;-
Rose kissed me to-day,-
Will she kiss me tomorrow?

Rather simple in its form, yet I think impossible to depict in a collage.

Yes. A collage as in a group of pictures depicting words. Thanks for the ideas guys.

I'm definitely looking up that Zakk Wlyde song. Maybe "In This River" or "House of Doom", too...

Very nice. "House of Doom" is one of my favorites to listen to along with "Blessed Hellride". :)

It'll be interesting to see what catches your fancy, lots of material out there.

Teletubbies - Say eh-oh.

Easy. Cut out pic of Teletubbies waving. Job done.

My personal favorite is "Bleed for Me". My favorite album of theirs is 1919 Enternal. Blessed Hellride is the second.

I don't think that any of Black Label Society's songs will fit the project, though...

Yes, Zakk's solo stuff is a bit more "picturesque" (for lack of a better term) than his work with the band. A bit more personal.

I think just finding pictures that show what the lyrics of a song describe would be boring. Instead you should try to express the mood of whatever song you choose.

My take would probably be Bullets with Butterfly Wings (Smashing Pumpkins), and I'd start my collage with screen captures from Nineteen Eighty-Four and A Clockwork Orange (although the book is way better than the movie in both cases).

Magneto and Titanium Man- Wings
Paint it Black- Rolling Stones
Love in a Elevator- Aerosmith
War Pigs- Black Sabbath
Faries Wear Boots- Black Sabbath
Lookin' Out my Backdoor-CCR
Carry on my Wayward Son- Kansas
Wake Up- Rage Against the Machine
Anything by Iron Maiden

Those would all be cool to see. I could pry go on forever, but I had to cut myself off.

Metallica's "Fade to Black" would be pretty easy....just a piece of black construction paper...:)

99 problems by Jay Z. just put 99 different pics, and not 1 pic of a chick.

Mad World by Gary Jules. Good deep, dark song that could fit a lot into it.

Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger It's gotta be one of the weirdest songs out there.

Black Orchid by The White Stripes. This would be a fun one to do...

Hit me up Char if you need any help. I've got 12 gigs of music on my comp that I can wade through, and if that doesnt do it, I've got a 200+ cd collection...
