View Full Version : Combat Reflexes Has Changed!! Which Power Would You Want To See Changed Next
The combat reflex wording change really is going to affect game play and figure playability in the upcoming months. Which other ability out of the following list do you think deserves a change?
Telekenisis
Smoke Cloud
Battle Fury
Plasticity
Shape Change
Force Blast
Close Combat Expert
I voted Telekinesis, but Charge really should have been on that list.

I voted Battle Fury. It would stand to reason that a "berserker" style attack should get you at least a +1 to your AV.

TK. I'd like to see people like Jean be able to move objects that weren't right next to them, and also to be able to throw opponents into walls etc, again not from adjacency.
I suppose the working of these rules is dependent upon game balance, but I'd like to think that a compromise could be made to make TK more comic accurate, but still maintaining balance.

I'm not entirely sure that any of these need tweaking... look at what's going to happen with the older figures with Combat Reflexes. I'm not just talking about having to reevaluate all those figures, but if they were point balanced before (and I know that's debateable) they aren't now.
Of those listed, however, I feel Shape Change is the least viable and flashy. Force Blast is a very close second to me, but at least if you go to the trouble of setting it up right it always works, and even has a chance to cause damage. A very watered down SuperSenses just doesn't do much. (Of course, I have no idea how many points it's worth, either, so...)
I'm curious as to why some voted for Telekinesis? Were they hoping for an improvement in utility? :confused: Maybe dialing its usefulness back a little? Improving on the ability just make the old, over-used utility TKers even better and (if possible) more prolific. Maybe y'all were hoping for NAATk.

Telekinesis should not have to involve adjacency (maybe a 4 or 6 range with line of sight) and should be able to slam opponents against walls and off elevated terrain! :devious:
Perhaps a madatory push click after its use to balance that bad boy out?!

My thoughts exactly, if your gonna go nuts you should get something extra for it maybe +2 to every thing! Defense, attack, damage, speed.....
I voted for TK because a long time ago there was wording in one of the original rule books that suggested that you could throw someone THROUGH a wall. However, I have never seen any of the powers worded that way. I personally like to see TK get an attack like ability that allowed them to pick a figure up as if in an attack and throw them into blocking terrain.
Here is a possible wording
Give this figure a power action. This character may target any figure within, or up to 6 range and make an attack. If the attack roll is successful this figure may throw an opposing figure into blocking terrain. The resulting damage does 3 damage to the opponent and destroys the blocking terrain. The figure then making the attack takes pushing damage for every 100 points of the opposing figure that may not be reduced by team abilities or powers.

I'd say, that none really need to be changed now. If one has to be? I would say Telekenesis so that you can "TK" a character or object within 10 squares, anywhere within 10 squares.

TK is already very useful for the points... how would making it MORE powerful be a good thing?
I am the only person to vote for Plasticity. What the #### is that. It seriously needs to allow for elevation changes.
Also I vote this get's put back on page 1.

That makes sense but typically when someone goes into a berserker like state they are so enraged that they have no regard for their own physical well being but instead are so focused on hurting their opponent they will leave themselves open to an attack. So I would say +1or2 on attack and maybe damage but possibly a reduction in defense after a attack by possibly a -1or2. Or you could have it so that if the battle fury modifiers are used in a attack the figure would take 1 unavoidable click of damage.

I voted Force Blast, I would love to see some interesting things done with that, but Battle Fury would be nice to change to the suggested +1 attack value like Mage Knight. Well, kinda like that anyways

I voted for battle fury. 2 reasons:
1) you should be allowed to throw objects. Who hasn't seen the hulk hurl some giant rock or vehicle at someone when he starts getting really PEO'D?
2) I believe that you should be allowed something along the lines of charge or pounce (only a power action), but take 1 or two clicks for it.
When your in a inraged state you generally don't take the time to "sneak up" on someone or hide behind the corner ready to pounce or dash into battle. No, you want to get into the fight as fast as possible to smash as much face as possible.
Note: my opinion one #2 has mostly to do with me watching the ultimate avengers movie and watching the hulk leap right into action before they could really do anythin.

I think doing rules changes to the PA card is a great way to keep things fresh in competive play, in magic they cycle out cards and have base sets, so i guess in their own way wizkids are cycling out certain figures buy making the rules different and making other figures more playable.
My one request would be to make Stealth like the MK power ghost form (which i think is a better way to reprsent stealth) it dose away with Stealth figures blocking line of sight which is stupid.
if a guy is hiding in a bush and another guy is stood behind it then either three things happen when someone trys to shoot the guy on the otherside of the bush
1. the guy in the bush gets hit in the crossfire
2. only the guy on the other side of the bush gets hit
3. The guy in the bush takes the bullet for the guy behind him.

I voted for Force Blast, only because I think it needs the most help out of all of them. TK and Shapechange are pretty close too. I wasn't aware that Close Combat Expert was a topic of change?

Shape Change
At the beginning of your turn roll one six-sided die: On a result of 5-6, this character cannot be the target of ranged attacks by opposing characters greater than 4 squares away.
TK
Option to move half speed value, ignoring characters and terrain features.
