I didn't get mine, Rock. :(
PM forthcoming!
Issue 4 is great, and packed with tons of good stuff. Each and every writer did a fantastic job!
As the layout designer for Critical Hit #4, I am very happy with the overall look and feel with the book. Really, there are tons of good stuff in this one!

Just a couple of things.
In the Spider-Man section of the Combat Reflexes change, it is said that you should pounce in and use Incap rather than damage. Icap is a CC action, and pounce gives a CC attack, so Incap can't be used with pounce.
The 'theme' team article regarding the New Avengers was generally good, but the inclusion of sentences like 'Wish I could shave some points on to add in ICWO' and the fact that some versions of the team included a R Destiny, R Black Panther, Paramedic and R Mandroid Armour just seems more geared towards a competative 'semi-theme' rather than a straight up 'I'll have fun, but probably won't win' theme team. I'm not just moaning, but it's known that most people who try and play theme teams are not fond of people who say their team is themed, then add ICWO and a Paramedic/Destiny/Cheap TK/Healing. Roughly the same thing happened with the Sinister 'theme team', with ICWO being added to four figures, out of the 6 on the team.
Just a minor niggle to me, and I know this will just be me, but the Omega Red Clix Wish was pretty out there. The 12 RS on a grounded figure? And the 12 attack? It just seemed a little too fanboy for me. Don't get me wrong, I love the whole idea, but it just kinda struck me like someone posting a Superman with 20 HSS and 8 damage. Unrealistic, that's all.
I didn't quite understand the point of the page whose sole aim it seemed was to diss Marvel. Sure some people didn't like House of M, but some others, including me, did.
All in all, don't get me wrong, I love Critical hit. It's just that the whole theme team thing is cool, but for all the new players out there, they must read the articles and think that a team cannot be competative without ICWO, or the pit crew, both of which many players will be glad to see the back of. It just strikes me that people are always moaning about the pit crew and ICWO, but then many use them on their team.
Anyway, never mind me, just droning on. Generally great rock, and all you guys who worked on it. Many thanks.

Hey Rock! Issue #4 is Fantasmamundo! (And I'm not just saying this because my 3-D modeling article is in it!)
Seriously, Critical Hit is almost too good, which in this day of litigousness means eventually you may be asked to stop doing it. :/

Still reading it at the moment, very nice again Rock!
Although I have to agree, I was confused as well with the bashing Marvel page. I have no idea what this had to do with Heroclix at all...
It did not, it was just something different I was trying that one of the writers wanted to do. Also, I am sending out a document that contains the DAILY BUGLE 3-D building

Writers are allowed to have their own opinion, and one writer's article should not reflect upon the others. If the article had alot of swearing and bad words, I am sure Rock would have edited it or banned it.
But the open exchange of ideas and opinions should always be encouraged.
HEck, even now I am thinking of writing an article about how bad "Avengers Disassembled" and "OMAC" was.
*shiver*
Also keep in mind that many HeroClix players are also comic book readers, so I see no problem have a few comic related articles in there.

I agree completely. I wasn't saying that the page should have been banned. I was only suggesting that perhaps it was introduced as a comic related section of the issue, rather than placed between heroclix related topics, with no introduction.
Also, as with HCR, I would prefer that it was constructive criticism that was made, rather that simple expression of dislike. The article basically boiled down to 'Marvel sucks!' Any suggestions would have been great, other books to read that are similar to Marvel titles, any other storylines that were Universe specific events (in comparison with HoM), but were generally considered good, anything at all constructive.
I was only objecting to the fact that the page seemed to have no aims other than to tell people the writers opinion that Marvel is bad. End of story. It was out of place in the magazine, IMHO.

I like the Sentry/MoE thing.
I do NOT like the Omega Red fig. Way off base IMO Mostly due to the 10 range. Love Doom 2099 though.
And the Spoiler Space article is the bestest ;)
Omega red should only have a 6 range

Wellt the thing is, the theme of the mag this month was "Marvel Villians". And the article was about how Marvel is a villian unto themselves. DC comics is not immune to this either but once again this was a "Marvel" theme month.
As for Spoiler Space, it's the "comic book" section of the mag as someone mentioned above, a lot of clix players are also comic book readers. And a lot of comic book readers have opinions.
Such opinions as: Storm is getting the shaft just to make the Panther book sell better. Marvel sucks ;)

A very valid point.
I am sure these types of articles will be scrutinized and implemented better with future issues.
On a related note, I would love to see some comic trade paper back reviews in the future. There is a lot of great stuff out there I think people should be reading.

Well, to be fair here, I have to point out that it apparently doesn't always take bad words to get edited. In my article, when submitted, I startd off by referringto "New Players" as "Noobs." It got edited. I made a joke about how MODOK and Arnim Zola were "ugly." It got edited. I made my disclaimer say that a team with no Feats "would probably lose you a normal tournament." It got edited.
Now, I'm not really complaining about the content, but it did dry out the tone of the article a bit. I meant it to be kinda irreverent, and it came off more technical than I had planned. I mean after all, in the end this is a game about little plastic superheroes. And to be fair, Rock consulted me on the "noob" issue, nd there was one thing in there that could have offended any hardcore AA members (elaborating on the whole theme of wrking on my 'cardboard addiction'... y the way, I'm an AA member, so it wasn't THAT bad), but I guess next month I'll just have to write it up on a different tone.
No biggie, but I did want to point that out. Still, I'm happy with everyone's work.

Whats next months theme btw?
I like that the price guid is now separate. It just keeps getting better with each issue.
In the future, if someone writes an article, a return email would be nice as well. either, "thanks but we've filled the mag" or " great work, gonna throw it in". I wrote an article that didnt get printed, and I dont mind that. But an email back either way would have been nice.
Great Mag though, love printing it out and reading it during my lunch breaks
cory
Next month theme is Marvel X-MEN (heroes or Villians). CJf28 I don't remember getting an article. Contact me about that please.
Good stuff on the whole. I appreciate the downplaying Feats thing. Not that I don't have them, it's just that they're too often used as a crutch (just like th e"Pit Crew" isn't bad... it's the over-use and abuse of the Pit Crew that stinks. Just like Feats.)
Anyways, only thing I'd do different is change the team ability on the Zombies from MOE to Morlock. MOE is changing and will no longer apply, and the Morlock power, like you said in the issue, is seriously under-valued. AND it's thematic for Zombies.
Anyways, that's it. I'll try real hard to think up something worth writing. Need a column? I'm a pretty good writer. I just can't write team-building or strategy articles, cause I'm actually pretty bad at the game. Maybe a column written from the perspective of a bad player?! Yeah!

As I was the one who wrote the article, I will respond to some of your concerns.
Because I substituted lesser figures in order to complete the teams, I felt that adding 1 to the attack value via ICWO would make up the difference a little. I wouldn't have used the Oracle unique to give two or more of the figures perplex or outwit. If played without the Oracle Unique, the characters I would have boosted, Wonder Woman (AKA Sentry) and War Machine (AKA Iron Man), would still have been character accurate -- it wouldn't have blown the theme.
I also included one (1) alternate lineup that included some of the basic powers such as Support, Outwit, PC and TK. The rest of the lineups did not. I left it up to the readers to decide which to use. There are players out their that will not play without support pieces. I felt that if I left out the consideration of support pieces, I would have gotten a slew of posts complaining about it's omission.
Have Fun!

Rock, all I can say is thank you. And Thanks to every one who has contributed and who will contribute. I is a great magazine. By far the best Clix related magazine of any kind. I particularly enjoyed this months 'modding article'. I hope that continues, because it is sure to have tips that I can use!!!!

I love the Magazine!
I love the "how to reapair" (still waiting how to "reapain a dial with black mohism :disappoin )
I have some sugestions and I want made a contribution (no money sorry, only articles :p )
But that will be the next month.
Rock is ok is we sugest something for the magazine?
thanks for do this!
Suggest away. Just remember many of the "CORE" articles will stay (easy to figure out the core articles from past issues) and also take into consideration each magazine has a theme behind it, this next one is to be X-Men to coinside with the movie.
Obviously June will be Superman (release of the movie)
and July will either be Spiderman or Spiderman Villian because of Sinister release
August is the month for my birthday, but not sure what I want to there (also the month I start teaching)
September is Green Lantern because of release of Green Lantern set
So, pretty well planned, but suggestions are welcomed

Hi Rock - thanks for all those wonderful magazines....and I wonder if I would like to make a suggestion to you - since there is one topic I am very much interested in and I am not an expert but been trying to do the search on HCR...so I wonder if you will have a topic of this: "how to remove the paint from the figure when custom making clixes?" Creating the custom made Legionnaires is my project and I have done Bouncing Boy and Sun Boy...now I am presently working on Dawnstar (hard!). I tend to paint over the paints...making too thick. any chance of seeing this in your magazine?
It is possible, but I know I won't ever write it as that is not my area of expertise. I am sure I can goad one of the modders into giving me their secrets
