Interesting choice.
I for one loved this movie. It was made by geeks, for geeks. Sure, the Phoenix plot was unnecessary, but it was still good.
The movie alone gets a 9. The fact the Juggernaut actually said it gets a 9.25.

7/10 from me.
The plot is weak, parts of it barely make sense, others don't make sense at all.
Still, it was enjoyable. Certainly not a classic, but a nice action movie to pass some time.
I agree wit EN, and give this one a 7.50 (and again, I think Im being a bit generous)
So many characters wasted, and not even the ones that died, some off screen for that matter. Even with the cool new characters added, they still did nothing. What did Angel do? Colossus? Heck even series Main Character Rgoeu did nothing. Juggernaut was cool, and even a good way to KO him, but no battle with Colossus? No final match with Magneto finally taking on the X-Men together? And the final battle, really, was it that good? Not to me it wasnt.
This to me felt like a mid season episode from an XMen TV series, over the third (and possibly last) film in a series of excellent and very fun and well made action flicks. Overall, it was OK, a decent enough action movie, and a less than spectacular X-Flick.
Personally, I was disappointed when I left the theatres, and at this stage I dont care if they make another one, and some part of me hopes they dont.
Actually, Im changing my score to 7.00, and again I think Im being generous.

I loved it, but it wasted good characters, and confused itself with all the different plots.

Combining the Phoenix saga and the Cure storyline...absolute garbage. A busy, predictable flick filled with over-the-top special effects and geared for an audience with the competence of an autistic kindergartner. I was offended that they needed "class" systems to make us appreciate the power of the Phoenix. Yeah, we couldn't figure that out from the way she blew up Xavier and lifted up all of her neighborhood's vehicles.
Jean's "personality" change, Rogue and Beast's conflicts with the cure, Bobby's romance troubles, Ororo's leadership role, Angel's struggles with his father, and Kitty's maturation were totally unconvincing. I understood the Morrison, Claremont, Whedon, and Millar references but what joy can I get from a film that does not do their stories justice?

The bit with Juggernaught and Kitty was the only saving part and the bit in the house were phoenix wastes Prof. X. A mediorce action really. I hated Beast and everyone died too easily. Rouge did nothing either.
Overall 7.85 (for fun)
Wow, quite a bit of hate so far. I'm tempted to give it a higher score just to offset some of this heavy critiquing. I went in assuming it would continue the movie's version of the X-men and that's exactlly what it did. Like the last ones it was big and unfocused trying to balance so many little plots and characters like spinning plates. It wasn't perfect by any means, but I had fun watching it. I'd like to see even more die in the inevitable sequel (last one my butt, studios are too greedy for that) just to narrow down to the field a little. Maybe a director with a little more poetry in his presentation without being so generic as well.
Overall, an 8.1

Not hate on my end whatsoever. Disappointment at what we got for the ending of this Trilogy, definately, but not hatred. (And thanks for only voting on this one for what you believe it deserves ONLY, and not giving it an extra boost to try and offset some some of the scores you seem to think are too low or unfair. Thats the way to do it)

The movie alone gets a 9. The fact the Juggernaut actually said it gets a 9.25.
Without the Phoenix plot, this film would of been and "F." To me, its the only real strong plot point to it. The whole "cure" thing was done poorly. Would it killed them to name the chemical? Something, anything? Hearing all the different X-men and the mutants referring it to "the cure" kept it from being an actual part of the story for me. Sure, it would be technobabble, but at least it would of felt real instead of what it felt like. Whenever that part of the story was being discussed in dialogue, it had no reality to it. It felt fake.
I'll be honest, I enjoyed the movie overall. As you all know, I was very much annoyed with Marvel films as they rushed this, and there were obvious signs of a rush job. Some of the FX were poor, some of the dialogue obviously was influenced by the actors, as they got to have "character input." While I liked that we finally had a danger room sequence, who precisely wrote Wolverine's dialogue for it? That was awful. It was more Hugh Jackman's type of humor versus the Logan type of humor we have enjoyed in the previous 2 films.
I'm glad that the leaked info of a romance subplot for Storm and Wolverine didn't make it into the final cut.
However, the story was mish-mash. With everything they wanted in this film, they should of ran it over two hours. But what we got was a lot of action, with very little good character moments. The one that stood out as completely wrong was Charles. Patrick Stewart, an actor that I love his work, pretty much ruined the Charles Xaiver character he created in the first two films. Charles never EVER talked down to his X-men in the way he did to Logan. He has of course gotten mad at his X-men, yelled at them, etc. But he never insulted their intelligence. Never did he ever act that "I'm better than you, you little man" and that is precisely how Charles came across. Also, certain mutants being bad guys made no sense. (Trying to remain spoiler free here, folks. But I think you know the one in particular had me scratching my head saying "Why is he a bad guy?") One little annoyance was that the X-jet flew cross country to Alcatraz, and Angel made the same trip in less time flying himself. (Could they not of had him stow away on the X-jet? Minor annoyance, nevertheless.) Rogue has now become the biggest loss of potential in the X-men film franchise. That was terrible. And the total treatment of Scott annoyed me to all end. Yes, James Mardsen has a great working relationship with Bryan Singer. Yes, he's in the "Superman" film. But Avi Arad, you and your writing staff should be adult enough NOT to take out your frustrations with Singer by doing what you did with Cyclops. ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO DO IT!!! AVI, JOE QUESADA, GROW THE FRICK UP ALREADY! STOP HATING FOLKS FOR ENJOYING DC PRODUCTS AS WELL AS YOUR OWN! KEEP IT UP AND YOU GUYS WILL WIND BACK UP MAKING NO MONEY OFF YOUR COMICS ONCE AGAIN AND RETURN ONCE AGAIN TO BANKRUPTCY!!! (Ok, rant over on those two....for now.)
The positives for me. One, Magneto was awesome. It was great to finally see him portrayed as the mutant terrorist. X2 came close when he escaped prison, this one got it right. His dialogue was tight, and his "Oh Charles, I LIKE this one!" in the opening sequence was awesome. Also, Mystiques actions were dead bang on. But the best surprise for me was Beast. When I heard Kelsey Grammar was cast, all I heard from friends was "He'll be just like he was in the cartoon!" Wrong, wrong, and oh yeah, WRONG! The cartoon, while entertaining, didn't get a lot right when it came to X-men. Hank McCoy was one of the most poorly represented characters in that cartoon. They gave him big words, but in the end, they didn't do much else with him. Now, in X3, we got a great actor to give a great performance through that costume. Grammar didn't do anything to remind us of him being Fraiser, he created Hank. (Ok, the one line during the final fight his voice sounded more like his "Oh all right, Niles!" annoyed Fraiser voice, but otherwise, he was awesome.) Also, the very fact I didn't have to see Gambit was great. Overrated character. And Kitty was just awesome. The only thing missing for me with young Ms Pryde was to have Nightcrawler in the film to call him "fuzzy elf." Well, that and a pet dragon. But her development as well as Bobby's was great.
All in all, I still have to score this film a 6.5. It had a lot to do in a VERY short amount of time to do it, but it was enjoyable. I will buy it for my DVD collection, but it isn't at a X2, Batman Begins, or Spiderman level of good. Way better than Punisher. I can see an argument for being better than Daredevil, but I enjoyed Daredevil.

This film seemed like Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith lottsa hype with not too great a delivery. Still very good and in some cases well received, but overall the same as the other two.
Other than more action sequences, I didn't see much difference in this film than the other two. Still the same "special" effects that look kind of fake, still horrid acting with Halle Berry, still a lame plot that is a mixture of older X-men storylines, etc. etc.
7.25
This will probably be what I rate Superman Returns, too. These two films will be on the same level - lottsa hype, but the delivery could have been better, still good and all, but definately missing something.

The geek in me liked the movie...the movie critic was sorley disappointed in the lack of character development and story. The fact that the movie was thrown together, there were too many mutants to do anything with, and that the plot was lacking, just kind of left me with a meh feling. And I am a BIG X-Men fan.
Frontman, I just wanted to say, that IIRC, Professor X HAS acted like that with the X-Men in the comics, just not in the movies. When he demoted Kitty to the New Muatnts, he essentially told Logan that it was his decision an that he didn't need to explain himself to anyone, because he was the leader of the X-men. he also showed that same kind of attitude during and after Secret Wars, when he usurped Storm's authority.

After I wrote my review, I did remember those few times like that, and in a written comic format, it sometimes can get looked over. I also remember in Alpha Flight/X-men crossover where Charles just ripped into Rachel Summers. But I do agree that the film version has never been portrayed like that. Actually, maybe it was even the dialogue that Stewart had to work with. I think even something as simple as "Logan, you weren't there. You haven't seen what she can do." or something along that line would of cushioned it a bit more for me. X3 made Xaiver into a character that was a bit harder to like, compared to the first 2 films.

Just saw it today and I can't really see where the negativity comes from. This one seemed no better or worse than the first two. People keep talking about the plot but was the plot ever the strong point for first two? Not really. This one had more action but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. It probably could have been a bit longer for some more explanation or depth but then you run the risk of making it TOO long. It's definitely not the debacle some people make it out to be. Maybe I'm just not a good critic but I enjoyed it... I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. A good popcorn movie just like the first 2 and especially enjoyable for people familiar with the subject matter.

Most of the negativity toward this film is because of the director. If you aren't a advent comic book reader then yes this movie sucked. I didn't like the fact that Cyclops got killed. He is one of the main characters in Xmen. And to be used this way is a disgrace to the franchise itself.

I'd hardly say it was a "bad" movie. It's very watchable even if it's not entirely accurate. Keep in mind that not everyone who goes to see this movie is an X-men expert. Could it have been better? Of course. But it also wasn't as horrible as some people have made it out to be.

I don't think anyone is shoving opinions down your throat when it's you who are VOLUNTARILY coming to these forums so stop with the attitude.
Overall, X3 was a poor film that will not stand the test of time. As a summer action film, (that's less than a week old at that), it's ok. Certainly more enjoyable than MI:3, Da Vinci or Poseidon have been. However, none of those are great films either so it's not like the bar has been set very high. When compared to comic book films of the past, or even just action films of the past, it doesn't rate a mention. Yes, the action scenes are overall better than the previous two films but the story is even weaker than the previous two entries, the characters have no depth to them and the script borders on comedic, for all the wrong reasons. I definitely won't see this again in the theatre but I may purchase it on DVD if only to see any commentary or deleted scenes.
6.0 out of 10.0
2.5/10
And I only rate it that high because Kitty is hot, and they actually paid attention to an internet fad and incorporated it into a line for Juggy.
Virtually no plot whatsoever. Lots of pointless action, and not a whole lot of that was good. Magneto's scenes were as good as they usually are, like when he takes down the convoy, and when he moves the bridge. But Wolverine's fight scenes were terrible, as were everyone else's. Jean acted like the female character from Species.
They go and kill 3 of the most important characters on the roster, leaving it in the hands the worst ACTRESS on the roster.
I'm holding out some small hope for an Apocalypse storyline for #4, since that seems to be their goal in this movie, but it helps to have a story for your set-up as well.
Seriously, if there's a cure for mutants, there needs to be a story on how the mutants deal with that. Instead all we got was Rogue getting pissed at her two-timing boyfriend instead, and Magneto is running around being an ####### without cause. Yes, he's a villian. He's still Magneto, and he requires cause.
Speaking of which, Magneto was written horribly for this movie. Just completely out of character. For one, if he saw ANYONE, much less a mutant, kill Charles in front of him, he'd kill said mutant ASAP. No ifs ands or buts. And he certainly wouldn't cower to Jean, not even as the Phoenix.
The story for the closing and re-opening of the school took all of 5 seconds. And they cheered about it. I leaned over to my friend and said "Do we at least get a montauge for this??"
And the end of the movie just leaves you with a sick taste in your mouth. Just about the entire roster is deceased or left the team, and you'd like to know why the hell they died in the first place, other than because Jean Grey got horny. Magneto is recovering his powers, so everyone else will likely do so as well, so that leaves that bit of storyline even more unimportant than it was to begin with.
Just an awful movie. I'm glad other people enjoyed it, especially comic book fans and X-men fans, but I'm sad it couldn't be something everyone enjoys like X-2.

I really didn't see that much difference in it and the other two movies. It had more action but as far as the plot or writing goes it didn't seem any better or worse to me. I mean what did the second movie accomplish in terms of plot? Pyro switched sides and Jean Grey died but didn't. I never went to those movies looking for a great plot or excellent writing. If I want that, I'll read a classic novel. I guess I just feel like I'm missing some big flaw that other people saw. I didn't feel any more or less satisfied by this one than the previous two. To me it was just an enjoyable action movie w/ cool characters that didn't make me think too much... and honestly after all the bad things I'd heard (since this time last year) I wasn't expecting much more. It's funny though that your two highlights Kitty Pryde being hot and Juggernaut saying his catchphrase were also the two things I liked the best. I felt like the Iceman/Pyro fight could have been much better though... even though him turning into solid ice was pretty cool. Also the fact that Storm and Wolverine DIDN'T hook up made it more enjoyable for me.

The director isn't as much to balme as you might think. He was ordered to use the script by FOX. Fox rushed the movie because they were slighted by Singer. So the problems with the movie lie with their decisions.
Also, I'm a comic reader, and an avid X-Men fan......the movie wasn't that impressive. If you skipped straight to the action scenes, cut Halle Berry, cut the number of mutants in the movie to a point where you can invest some time in the ones you actually want to see, revert the characters cack to the way they were in the previous two movies, and then cut the dialogue it would improve the quality of the movie.
I want to see it one more time, and will buy the DVD to complete my X-Men movies collection, but this one won't make my top 5 comic movies by any stretch.

I really didn't see that much difference in it and the other two movies.
Okay, a fair observation.
I felt the drama and power in the climax of X-Men was the best out of all 3 so far. I mean far away better. I really feel something when Wolverine collapses after saving Rogue. While the scene with Wolverine and Jean at the very end should have been powerful, it just lost it to me. I don't why...too fast? Hard to say, I can't put my finger on it.
The climax of X-Men 2, while not as powerful, had a deeper impact emotionally (to me). I mean, it's a good thing there weren't two nooses available on the Blackbird after Jean bought it...Cyc and Logan might have knotted each other up right there (MSU...NOT like that).
The plots of X1 and X2 were solid, and to a credible degree had a surprise reversal that was, like it should be with good writing, guessable due to foreshadowing but not completely obvious. Magneto going after Rogue was an excellent switch, and Charles being turned on humans was like WHOA.
Of course, that particular observation leads me to the one element consistent in all 3 films. Magneto is a bastard. Plain and simple.
I also felt X3 was lacking in several "moments" that X1 and X2 were quite simply filled to the brim with:
Wolverine's "middle finger"
Wolverine vs. Mystique
Rogue getting clawed by Wolverine
X-Men teamwork
"If you're so righteous, that would be you up there in that thing."
I could go on and on.
Regarding this whole too many mutants deal...it seemed like X2 did a better job of managing the time the extras had on screen in order for them to do what they needed to do. X3 had way too much fluff time for wasted extras that resulted in very little time for pretty important characters that could have been developed/resolved better.
Anyway, just some thoughts...

X-3: 8.1/10.
For the record,
X-Men: 8.9
X-2: 9.0
End of trilogies should be the best. This failed to live up to the ststure of the first two. It's a decent film, even if the plot is lacking, but it seems much worse because we have 1 + 2 to compare it to. By itself, it wasn't extremely bad. it was (mindlessly) entertaining, but it lacked depth. It's good for that.
My rating system is quite generous though, it's probably a 7.5 on other people's rating system. I rated LOTR FOTR: 9.5, TT: 9.4, and ROTK: 9.7 for reference.

Improvements this film could of used.
1: A director from day one. 3 different directors, even though only one during actual prinicpal photography, 3 different takes on the film. This was apparent even from the opening sequence. It was meant to feel different from the Singer films, even though they wanted it to be similar. Stupid idea, should of kept the X-men theme alone and opened the film the same way.
2: Egos, as in lack thereof. Hugh Jackman, while I like him as an actor, didn't need to go all Harrison Ford on us an insist on input as far as director choices, dialogue approval, etc. Same with Hally Berry. Fox, Avi, and Marvel in general, should of not rushed this film just to get it in the theatres against Superman. Instead of worrying what the other guy was doing, they should of focused on doing the best they could. DC and WB were smart in moving their film back, because even if X3 was the best of the bunch, 5 weeks from now, the movie going audience will be ready for something new.
3: Twenty to Thirty extra minutes. The rush to finish gave us a shorter film. It was directed by an action flick director. The film was edited the same. Establishing Hank was a student at one time with the throwaway line of "This used to fit me," was stupid. Should of been done far earlier in the film. Maybe in those extra minutes they would of gotten a chance to name the "cure." Maybe with those extra minutes, we could of seen a hint of a Kitty/Peter relationship, as well as giving Rogue something, anything to do in this film.
4: Lack of death. Death in a story should mean something. With each additional death, the latter ones lacked punch. Why did the Jean/Logan thing have no meaning? We get Scott killed off early, even off camera if you think about it; and Professor X's "death" (watch the whole film including all the credits, you'll get my meaning) being the most powerful, Jean's was like an afterthought. Had Scott survived to the final battle sequence, it would of had an infinite level of intensity.
Think about it. If Logan was the only X-man to see Jean kill Xaiver, and Scott was alive, he would of never accepted it. He would defend Jean, saying she wasn't in control, that Magneto played with her mind, whatever. He would of been alongside Logan on the mutant camp raid, trying to save her. Even after seeing her just vaporize mutant after mutant, he'd still think there would be a chance. Hank and Storm having to drag him off while Logan did what he had to do. (which, btw, was one of the best FX sequences in the film. Logan was quite literal in the sense of "I'm the only one who can stop her," not because he's a killer, but because he'd be the only one to survive that level of abuse.) Scott and Logan having to come to grips that the woman they both loved couldn't be saved, and that one of them had to kill her. THAT would be drama, THAT would build for future storylines, THAT would be the X-men style of storytelling.
Again, I scored this film low due to missed opportunities. Not opportunities like "Dude, they should of had Gambit/Cable/Deadpool/name whatever character you'd like in it" type arguments, but within the confines of what they attempted with the film. Even a basic writer could of seen the potential there instead of following marching orders from Marvel/Fox/Avi Avard to kill Scott off, the earlier the better. If a writer sat back and really examined their script, they would of said, "Even though not everyone in the audience reads X-men, maybe I shouldn't insult their intelligence and name the freakin' cure."

I enjoyed this installment. Kind of light on plot, but plenty of action. Plus, it was all worth it to see Juggernaut bust out of the floor with his 'I'm the Juggernaut, #####!' line.
Overall, more enjoyable then the other two, for me at least. 7.9/10

I'm really surprised by how much people liked this movie. Did everybody watch the same movie as me?? And for my detailed opinion, I'm just gonna post a blog that I wrote about it:
I consider myself to be an X-men fan. I've read a bunch of the comics, watched the cartoons, and generally know most of the characters and stories. I also really enjoyed the first two movies.
That being said, I thought this movie blew goats. Blew 'em hard. Those goats were satisfied by the end of this movie. I, however, was not. Visually, the movie goes along fairly well with the others, but the effects were not quite as good (CG looked rushed, too many wire acrobatics). But the story and dialogue is where it all falls apart.
Now the story itself is actually decent. I won't bother summarizing it here as it can be found in many places. But the whole cure storyline, and even the way they handled the Dark Phoenix storyline, was decent (even though the cure story was very similar to the story from the last movie). But they took way too many liberties with who they decided to kill. You just can't kill Professor X. And if you do, it better be f***in cool. But they did, and it wasn't. I didn't care so much about Cyclops' death, because he's sort of sucked through the whole movie series (Marsden knows how to play a whiny #####).
So they make all these huge decisions in the movie (killed characters, characters who've lost their powers), but then they don't have the balls to stick to them. Professor X might still be alive!! Magneto might still have his powers!! We might decide to make another movie so we can make some more money!! If you're going to make a big deal about this being the last X-men movie, and then follow it up by killing or de-powering most of the main characters, f***ing stick to it. Go out with a bang! I would've at least respected their decisions even if I didn't like them.
Lastly, there were way too many characters in this movie. They never really focused on anyone (other than Wolverine of course), so when characters die, you just don't really care. And the small characters that just had a few lines/scenes (Angel, Colossus, Shadowcat, Juggernaut) might as well have not been in the movie to begin with.
All that being said, this was not the worst movie ever. It was just so very mediocre. A lot of the action was still cool to see, and Beast was pretty cool. But by the time the cool stuff came around, I was too pissed to enjoy the movie. I mean come on... they killed Professor X in the first half-hour!! And it was really lame!! What the f***?!?
As for my rating, a generous 3.5/10.
This film now has the Second Highest number of members rating it, with 20, just under Raiders Of The Lost Ark, with 23.
Of course, with all of these threads Always Open for voting, and many 19s, 18s and 17s in our list, that record could change hands at any time. :)
So your complaining about too many characters, people losing powers and suddenly getting them back, and people comming back from the dead. Your right, those things never happen in the X-men comics...:cheeky:

I agree with most of what the Frontman wrote.
the inner geek inside of me gives this movie a 6.00, although I'm really dissapointed about the way the X-men 3 movie has been made.
X-men 1&2 are great movies in their own right (except for the stupid way Jean died).
If the movie would not have been about the X-men (it really was the Storm and Wolverine show instead of a TEAM) killing Cyclops of in the beginning really was the worst writing I have seen in a long time........ then I wouldn't be as mercifull as to even give it that.
6.00 mostly for the great way Beast was done (the only new character that was given a background) !

Which insures us not to see Beast in a future film in case they do a 4th. God forbid they kept Nightcrawler around, even if to show up for "the last stand."

Wow... I am surprised at the huge dislike of X3! How any could give this movie a 2 out of 10 baffles me... I think some of you are voting more along the lines what you wished this movie could have been, not basing your vote on what it was! I loved the 1st and 2nd movies... I'd rank them about a 8.7. I would rank X-men 3 about an 8.7 as well. The only reason my rating isn't higher, is because I was upset that certain minor mutant characters where given more screen time than Colossus, who didn't even get a good fight scene where smashed some heads or threw some cars...
For those of you who couldn't get over some of the plot holes... like Angel flying to San Fran at the same speed as the X-Jet... or the scientists not having a technical name for the cure. Here's a bone for you to chew on... (if you loved X2) Remember when Xavier was about to kill all the kill all the humans in the world... and they cut to the few scenes of people struggling, as it seemed they were about to die? Hmmm... let's think about that for a moment. How many people were driving, or flying a plane right at that moment? or riding a bike, or skiing, or swimming? was that ever mentioned or given any thought? NO, because it was a huge pot hole!!
These are movies based on Comics people... Comics are full of pot holes! full of characters that die and come back to life. Full of poorly written dialog!!
Let's not forget this is a movie that is trying to condense years or character development into less than 2 hours... (maybe that's part of the problem) and I know it sucks to see characters that have fairly long histories in the comics, enter and die all with in 5 minutes of screen time. Unfortunately this movie was made for those of us who aren't comic fans as well.
All that aside, I'm not going to say the movie was flawless. I actually agree with what Frontman said about Xavier coming off a little harsh towards Logan. I really didn't like when he came down to find Logan on the floor in Lab, and Jean Grey gone... and he said "What have you done?!" I didn't like when Juggernaut knocked himself out running into the wall. And I didn't like Not knowing what happened to Cyclops... for those of you who think he's dead!
It makes sense when you think about it though... now Cyclops can and Jean can come back from the dead and go form X-Factor! If you don't think there will be a sequel... $120 million opening weekend at the box office says there will be. And how could there not be a 4th movie? The comics never end... so there will always be an infinite amount resources to make more sequels, as long as they keep making money. Personally, I have no problem with that. If it really bothers you that they called this movie the Last Stand, and said it would be the last instalment of X-movies. Tell me... are you still angry at the Death of Superman?
Because we all know that was a gimmick to get people to buy the comic... when they had every intention of bringing the character back!
To cap this post off... I'll be the first to admit that your state of mind and over all mood going into a film has a huge impact on whether you like or dislike a movie. I saw this movie late, after the Hype, and was actually told by friends that it wasn't very good. Therefore, I went into the movie expecting little... and came out of the movie extremely happy with how it turned out.
And if you don't think mood affects your opinion of a movie... I went in to see the Matrix after hearing nothing but great things about... and proceeded to hate the movie with a passion! It didn't help that I had the worst seat in the theater, or that I had a parking ticket when I got back to my car! I later watched it again on video, and proceeded to enjoy it... minus a few things that still pissed me off! :cheeky:
Rant ended... I always like to vent after seeing a film.
Incase it was missed. 8.7

So your complaining about too many characters, people losing powers and suddenly getting them back, and people comming back from the dead. Your right, those things never happen in the X-men comics...:cheeky:
I was mainly complaining about there being too many characters because it seemed that they focused more on cameos than they did on developing the main characters and the main plot. And none of the new characters were fleshed out at all, except for Beast. Angel and Colossus might as well have not been in the movie at all.
I'm well aware that people lose powers/get them back and die/resurrect regularly in comics, but come on. Does it not just seem like a total cop-out to anybody else??? That cure storyline was shaky at best, but it had a strong sense of finality and actually added a lot of meaning to this otherwise drab movie.
These characters were defined by their powers, and to lose those powers has to be a crushing and life-changing experience. Look at Mystique: she was totally disowned by the Brotherhood even though she took the shot for Magneto, and she became a traitor. That was one of the best parts of the movie.
Then Magneto is shown to possibly still have his powers at the end of the movie, thus negating the entire main plot of the movie you just watched (minus the Phoenix plot), rendering it almost completely meaningless.
Now if all the characters that died/lost their powers are back and powered in the next movie, it will be like this movie never happened (which is probably a good thing).
So instead of a movie with a good story full of meaning and important happenings, we are left with a placeholder. Something to remind us that the franchise is still around and able to make money. And a few years from now, they can sit down and squeeze out another steaming pile of X-men movie for the masses and be paid heavily for it.

Thank God this was the last one, if not, you could credit Ratner with the destruction of the franchise (He pulled, imho, a Joel Schumacer). If it would have been called something else( and all the characters had different names) I would say, "prety good movie". But this wasn't X-men. Let's kill off a couple of the characters that aren't dead, turn Marrow into a dude, Callisto into something she isn't, screw-up the effects on colossus, put Phoenix in a wicked witch costume(neat effects, not Phoenix, but neat effects), ignore any relation between Jugs and Charles, destroy the Mystique character, many other blatant omissions and screw-ups, so we can focus on Wolverine and give Berry more screen time(kissing her hiney, essentially).
With all that being said, I loved Grammer, Angel was cool in a limited-sort-of-way, give Madrox his own movie(except not as a member of the brotherhood) along with Mags and Wolvie, and Kitty's character was a nice addition as well.
See, not all hate.

X-Men: The Last Stand
To paraphrase Hank McCoy, "The Beast," they're calling this film a cure. To well-made, intelligent cinema. Who exactly are "they?" The execs at Fox? "But, hey-- it's a comic book adaptation!" you might say. "What more do you want?" Obviously, way more than we got, and on another level, less than what we had to endure.
In the third (and hopefully, final) installment of the X-Men series, the problem lies not entirely within director Ratner (who did a fairly decent job with the Rush Hour series, imo), but rather the screenwriter, Simon Kinberg. This is the same person who, according to the imdb, put his "Midas Touch" on such gems as xXx, Elektra, Charlie's Angels 2 and !Catwoman, all of which happen to share the same characteristics: sparse dialogue, poor character development/dynamics, and often unnecessary, overblown action. The entire series has suffered from these pitfalls to a certain extent, but none of this film's predecessors have failed so miserably in the craft of storytelling that is "The Last Stand."
What is the story, then? A supposed "mutant cure" threatens to unravel the very fabric of mutant existence. The twist? The "cure" also happens to be a mutant. One problem, though: that, in itself, does not a compelling drama make. Sure, we're treated to a few scenes where we get to see how this antidote to genetic superpowers weaves its spell like "magical Nair" on The Beast for a moment, and then permanently on one of the more established secondary villains (to my extreme displeasure), but otherwise leaves something to be desired. Like a plot. Or leaving the theatre to go home and watch the first two seasons of the Fox animated series that ran during the early 90's I have on DVD.
The initial two films establish our protagonists and antoganists. The X-Men are good. The Brotherhood are bad. And in-between, characters such as Logan and Pyro display shades of grey, contrasting against the unfaltering Professor X and power-hungry Magneto. Or so it seems, initially. In X3, the character arc involving the trinity of Jean Grey-Scott Summer-Logan that has been carefully brewing is swept casually to the side with almost a deux ex machina-type quality as one of the series' most pivotal characters-- the aforementioned 'Cyclops'-- is eliminated within the first act of the film without a second thought in order to establish the film's first "money-shot" and foreshadow an impending... boredom.
The biggest atrocity, other than the script, is the CGI, or lack of in key scenes. Alan Cumming, Kelsey Grammar and Rebecca Romijn were very convincing in actual makeup, a process that required several hours' of patience. The bus stops there, however. Remember how we thought those spotlights/Sentinel eyes in the Danger Room sequence would be fixed in time for X3's release, replaced with something cooler? Nope. They're still there. Or anticipating Colossus' transformation into a butt-kicking powerhouse of organic steel? Somehow, I couldn't stop thinking of how the T-1000 oozes into the cockpit of the police chopper in T2. Poor Piotr never even got a chance to go up against Juggy. The Phoenix is more reminiscent of a zombie than an cosmic entity. I did enjoy the showdown between Xavier and Jean in her childhood home, by far the most convincing scene of the film (sans CGI).
Despite a sloppy patchwork of action sequences interlaced with Made-For-TV drama at its finest (and most expensive at $150M, might I add), there are a few redeeming qualities. Ellen Page does a nice job as Kitty Pride/Shadowcat, and even then, her character isn't explored as fully as it should have been. Vinnie Jones camps it up as the Juggernaut. Kelsey Grammar proves that, at least as a blue, furry mutant, he can carry his presence to the big screen. James Marsden and Rebecca Romijn are way too underused, and Anna Paquin as Rogue could have easily been replaced with Paris Hilton without skipping a beat in this installment. I wanted to see her save the day! Alas, the comic gods were deaf that particular day...
Worth watching? Sure. Repeated viewing? No thanks.
6/10 (originally 5/10, but it gets an extra point for the infamous Juggernaut quote, and that's sad)
CURRENT HCR MEMBER RATING:
X3: THE LAST STAND - 6.84 / 10

Well, since I was the one who brought up both points you think I'm being sticky on, I'm going to continue out your point to its logical conclusion.
Yes, they never mentioned how many actually died when Xavier was in Cerebro. We did assume that there had to be some deaths. However, they also did not talk around it in the sense that X3 did. For example, how silly would it be for a scene with the President and an advisor to say,
Mr. President "Frank, how many people died during that mutant attack?"
Advisor "Can't say sir, but it was a lot."
That's the level of stupid writing this film had. Name the freakin' cure IF ITS A MAJOR POINT OF THE FILM!!! DON'T TALK AROUND IT!!!!

Yes good point... the cure could have easily been given a technical name... but that would have taken an explanation as to how one simple cure could affect the genes of so many difrent mutants with out any side effects, when obviously every mutants genetic structure would be completely difrent from another.
As for how many people died when Prof. X was in Cerebro, we have no idea, because it was never mentioned. And it was never mentioned because the death toll would have been huge!! We are talking catastrofic huge!! Any person driving a vehicle would have lost control... how many cars are on the road, at the same time all over the world? If you ask me, that's a huge plot hole! that's not something people would forget about. Infact that's the kind of thing the goverment couldn't take the chance of ever happening again.
Yet I still loved X-Men 2! I can deal with a few plot holes if it means seeing the comic characters I've loved since I was a kid kicking ### on the big screen! I'm sure if I went back and read some of my old X-Men Comics, I'd be able to pick them appart as far as cheesy dialog and plot holes are concerned.
Forgettable & regrettable. From the opening scenes I had a bad feeling about this film. Zero depth, either the film was too short or they just have too many mutants running around in there - everyone seems to have such a limited amount of onscreen time. Perhaps it was decided that after 2 films we could just get on with the show and not spend too much time on the characters themselves. As an action flick I guess it delivers the requisite amount of explosions and butt kicking but at the end of this film I was disappointed. Would be nice if there was an extended cut on DVD coming up but as it stands I'm going to give this film a 6/10.

I'm gonna go off the deep end here with a 9.25 out of 10. It was 2 steps up from X2 and 3 from X1. Simply amazing.
The problems with the movie were overlookable. Sure, Halle is a TERRIBLE Storm, but I got used to that in X1. She just doesn't portray the majesty of the character. At least this one was kinda her punk era, so it was somewhat excusable. Iceman and Pyro's fight was terribly lame. Like an episode of DBZ with an energy war. They're both more creative than that! But at least it wasn't very major. Also, Callisto was nothing like Callisto. Otherwise, I don't really have a gripe.
On the side of X3: a ton!
-Angel and Beast (who are both low on personality development in the comics) were handled well. Angel's family issues especially were great.
-Xavier finally had some depth! I loved the parallels between his class lecture on morals and his own battle with them. His death also was incredibly powerful.
-Magneto, the other side of the coin, was never more impressive. His elitist mentality with Mystique, his sorrow over Xavier's death, his 'chess' tactics. It was all so perfect for him.
-Spyke! Was that him I saw in there? I live for the cameos, and that was an awesome one.
-Kitty was amazing, definately a lovable parallel for Rogue. And Iceman playing Rogue so badly was dead on. I hate Iceman, and this movie kept that going without making either girl seem bad.
-Rogue would take a cure if she could. The movies have shown that, and it was completely believable to me. Sure, it was tragic to see her cave in, but I bought it wholeheartedly. Besides, the cure's temporary. She might get her powers back and kill Bobby, if I'm lucky!
-Speaking if killing, Cyclops finally bit the bullet! I've waited forever to see him go!
-I've never been so impressed with the Phoenix. I always thought the comics poorly portrayed her. This movie... wow. I was creeped out at times even! The floating objects wherever she was, the reddening of her hair and clothes throughout the movie, the black eyes... she was amazing. Totally made the movie for me.
-I don't care if the movies don't follow the comics. Combining the Phoenix in this way was fine to me. She fit in perfectly. Only downside was the lack of Hellfire Club. But really? I can't imagine making the Dark Phoenix fit the movie timeline in any better way.
AND NUMBER 1! "Don't you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut!"

there were so many things wrong with this movie. Not that I expected much because the first two stunk as well (thats right, I said it). and I don't know what your all gushing about but I cringed when i heard the""infamous" juggernaut line, to me it was on par with the "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" in star wars episode 3 for pure corn factor. and since most have already commented on the many problems of this move, I'll keep mine to a minimum. BUt what I can do is describe a deleted scene that will be included in the 4th edition of the dvd.
the scene starts with colossus, prof x, storm and ice man in a room in the mansion, similar to the one where prof x gives the lecture on morals, and they're just sitting around enjoying the afternoon doing their own thing, like reading the paper, sipping tea etc.
colossus - (while painting somewhat off to the side) so I guess cyclops is dead?
iceman -(nonchalantly) 'guess so, seems that way anyway.
storm - hmm, guess that makes me leader then?
Prof X - yup, suppose so
Colossus - so what do you think happened to scott, jean killed him?
Prof x- maybe, we won't probe though, she'll tell us when she's good and ready
storm - anyone seen Rogue latley, she seems to have dissapeared as well?
and end scene.
anyways, i'll give this stinker a 4

I'll be darn...thought I'd rated this but guess my despisal of it was enough to scare me off like someone asked to go duck-hunting with Cheney.
Guess I've pretty much already stated it: I despised this movie. The music was as ridiculously melodramatic - in all the wrong ways and times - as previous outings, most of the characters got maybe one SFX scene each and that was their "appearance" for the movie (unless you were Wolverine or such), and the acting and characterizations were flatter than the pages on which we normally view the X-Men.
It says a lot when the most quoted part of the movie wasn't even originally from the movie (yeah, the Juggernaut line) and it leaves you wondering about the "writing" skills involved in making the script. Oh, of course, Kitty's crude response was just so witty.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I guess watching Xander talk down Dark Willow with the scary eyes and changed hair colour and veins as she was about to destroy the world was interesting...er, wait, ne'ermind...that's right: the whole Phoenix/Wolverine (right down to the "Dark Phoenix" FX) was been there and seen it done better - on a lower budget even!
Toss in the casual killing of Cyclops (in part - according to what's been stated in multiple industry magazines, interviews, etc - just because the actor took a role in Singer's other film and because it helped clear up the "love triangle" so that Jean could openly love the "kewler" Logan) and that makes things even worse.
Score: 1.0 - I'm being generous only because D won't allow me to give this a zero.
Lord knows I wont defend this film, as I didnt care too much for it either, but a 1, RK? You found absolutely nothing at all of value in this film, not in the least?

Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Arguably its' DVD might make a nifty frisbee if thrown properly but that would mean investing in purchasing it to find out. I was quite serious about how while watching the "big scene" of Logan vs Dark Phoenix all I could think about was, "Hope this is over soon so I can go rewatch the season six finale of BtVS" (where they even -made- a Dark Phoenix reference that worked better than all of X3; perhaps because you actually gave a darn about Willow as opposed to strung-out looking Jean Grey whose character development over the movies was "I'm the Professor's most darling student, I must watch my powers and I'm torn between this guy I've loved for years and should be loyal to and this hot bod I've just met".)
I really could do another few pages about what I didn't find redeeming about the film; I'd be hard-pressed to find something that I enjoyed about the flick (even the SFX seemed worse in this film than X2 - how do you downgrade after getting a bigger budget?!?).
[Edit: In fairness, I did, earlier, slam the acting and I should say that the guy playing Pyro was stand out compared to the majourity of the cast (as in he did good); he wasn't "improved" over X2 though and not like he was such a majour part of the film it justifies giving this more points but I will say he was alright...I can't say entirely enjoyable as near the end there he was a bit too whiney for my tastes but up until that at least his lines didn't seem like such a forced delivery.]

Gotta side with Rokk Krinn on this one. OK - so Magneto tore the Golden Gate bridge from its foundations and used it to cross the bay. Cool visuals, but I kept asking myself, "Why?" I liked the first two installments just fine, but the third one's goofiness could not be overcome. Sorry, but there it is and there you have it. I give it a charitable 3/10.

Okay, first of all, my favorite part: The end, in which Magneto is at the park with the chess pieces, and he moves one a little with his powers, and there's a crescendo of operatic music. The movie is worth watching for that alone.
Anyway, as for the Cure storyline, "Cure" is the brand name they chose for this vile poison, so I guess it's legitimate that they call it that, but I, like some of the other posters here would have preferred an actual name.
How can anyone call Magneto an ####### for wanting to kill Leech? I would do the same thing. He doesn't want to see his people get exterminated again, and reasons that it's better for one mutant to die than for millions to be turned into homo sapiens.
I could not stand the part where Magneto left Mystique on the floor after she saved his powers. The real Magneto would have taken off his cape and offered it to her, and comforted her in the loss of her powers, not left her naked in the prison van, that was beyond ridiculous.
Professor's talk on downloading a mind from a sick guy into the brain-dead meat body shown on the TV was idiotic, how is that even a question? Of course you download the sick guy's mind into the mindless body, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
If they had moved Cyclops' death to the end, and he runs up to get to jean, and she disintegrates him then, and then wolverine goes up and kills her, it would have made Cyclops' death mean more. As it was, it didn't mean anything, and furthermore, there was no reason for jean or dark phoenix to do it. Her killing the professor made more sense, revenge for him keeping her in a mental cage for all these years, but what did cyclops ever do?
This movie is incomplete without the plot of "xmen official game" which goes in between movies 2 and 3. here it is:
"The story opens with Wolverine taking out some anger issues on Jean's death, depicted in the movie, X2. Wolverine wants to do a simulation of his battle with Sabretooth on top of the Statue of Liberty (as they fought in the first X-Men film) in the Danger Room, a technological marvel that can simulate realistic events using solid holograms.
After nearly being defeated by the simulation Sabretooth if not for the arrival of Iceman, Logan agrees to run Iceman's training program that the still-greiving Cyclops was supposed to run him through. Nightcrawler is asked to infiltrate the remnant of William Stryker's base in Alkali Lake, and he finds out that Stryker had a backup plan to destroy mutants: Mutant Hunting Robots called Sentinels.
Working together, Storm and Wolverine find an A.I. module for a Sentinel, when agents of HYDRA, an organization of terrorists, arrive to take the remaining Sentinels to their own base. It is revealed that Hydra designed the robots for Stryker, but the current commander doesn't want them activated. In the depths of the base, Wolverine finds Hydra has a familiar agent: Lady Deathstrike, who was able to survive an apparent death in X2 after being pumped full of adamantium.
Nightcrawler and Colossus destroy the generators for Alkali Lake, and he is plagued by visions of a youthful angry Jason Stryker, who keeps reminding him that he left him to die. When Nightcrawler asks Xavier why this is happening to him, Professor X says that is probably some form of psionic residue left over, and nothing to really worry about. However, it is soon revealed that Jason is alive and well, and wants to continue his father's dream of seeing all mutants destroyed. The mentally unbalanced Jason escapes with agents of Hydra, and the Master Mold.
Deathstrike knocks out Storm and locks her in a chest, and battles Logan in the eye of a hurricane, which Storm has created in her panic (she is revealed to be claustrophobic like her comic book counterpart). After he defeats her, Deathstrike escapes with the remnants of Hydra, remaining Sentinels, and the Master Mold (a gigantic Sentinel "factory"), Wolverine tells Storm he is going to follow, because Deathstrike is a key to his past, however small. Storm questions why he constantly leaves them behind (Wolverine is still not a full member of the X-Men, and he doesn't actually join until the events of X-Men: The Last Stand). Wolverine promises to return as he hitches a ride on her helicopter, which is going to Tokyo. Iceman, Storm, Colossus, and Nightcrawler return to the Institute in the X-Men's jet.
[edit] Chapter 2
Iceman is told to fight Pyro, who is threatening to destroy a nuclear reactor. Iceman arrives and battles his onetime friend, who is now a member of Magneto's Brotherhood, and is using his powers to create a giant Fire Serpent. Iceman has to defeat it to save the city, and he accomplishes this task. Pyro escapes and Iceman meets up with the rest of the team, after Xavier praises his skills in the battle.
Nightcrawler and Storm face off against one man who is many: James Madrox, the Multiple Man, a terrorist who robbed several banks who wants to blow up a bridge using his army of duplicates. Nightcrawler defeats Multiple Man, and he is to go to a prison for high-powered mutant criminals. This storyline is somewhat picked up in X-Men: The Last Stand, when Magneto and his new Brotherhood free Multiple Man from the Prison Convoy.
Jason activates the Master Mold in Tokyo, causing the Sentinels to hunt down and capture mutants. The Sentinels begin to hunt down mutants, capturing them, and Iceman sets out to prevent this from happening, and destroys many of the Sentinels.
Wolverine inftiltrates Hydra's main base, interrupting the Silver Samurai, who tells Deathstrike she shouldn't feel dishonored by William Stryker's underhanded method of controlling her (using Jason's serum in X2). Wolverine interrupts their discussion, and Samurai runs away, leaving Wolverine to a final battle with Deathstrike. Victorious, Wolverine leaves Deathstrike to what he hopes is a real death this time when she was crushed under a pile of rubble.
Logan follows Silver Samurai to his base, who tells him that he is a mutant, and if Wolverine can defeat him in combat (the two being great warriors), he will tell Logan how to defeat the Sentinels through the Master Mold. Samurai's power is the ability to charge his sword with energy, letting it slice through nearly anything, and to channel energy blasts through it. Conquering Samurai in combat, Wolverine emerges the winner, gains the information, and tells the team how to defeat Master Mold.
[edit] Chapter 3
Xavier telepathically contacts Magneto, and asks him for help in facing the Sentinel forces. Magneto agrees to a final teamup, saying the next time, it will be as foes again. The X-Men, meanwhile, are attacked by new, towering Giant Sentinels, crashing the X-Jet and leaving Iceman to defeat the huge robots. Iceman wipes out these Sentinels, as Master Mold lurks in the distance. Magneto arrives and uses his powers of magnetism to crush the many Sentinels attacking the mutants. The temporary alliance over, Magneto sends Sabretooth (who has a healing factor, like Wolverine, and survived his fall from the Statue of Liberty) after a new recruit for his Brotherhood: Jason Stryker, whose mind control powers would be a great asset... if he can be convinced to stop hating his own kind.
Arriving inside the Master Mold, Nightcrawler must disable its control center, while he is aided by a different, nice apparition of Jason Stryker, who helps point the way through the maze of the Mold's body. When he arrives at the Master Mold's command center, he finds Jason, who hates the younger "ghost" Jason, a manifestation of his split psyche.
Wolverine arrives in the Master Mold, and Jason uses his powers to make Wolverine fight himself in a mental battle in the Weapon X Lab, to fight his own demons. Wolverine is victorious against a horde of himself, and he heads to Nightcrawler's location, in the Master Mold's head. Jason tries to get rid of Nightcrawler by entering his mind and trying to convince Kurt that he is not a mutant, but a real demon. Nightcrawler disables the Master Mold's neural net, changed by Jason to look like a demonic realm, complete with demons. Meanwhile, Iceman must destroy the Master Mold's core, so that it will be a useless machine. He takes care of it, and flees the core's destruction.
Sabretooth works his way to Wolverine and Nightcrawler's location, knocking Nightcrawler out and taking the wheelchair bound Jason, when Wolverine arrives and attacks his nemesis. The two have a vicious battle, ending with Logan throwing Sabretooth from a great height to be impaled below, and then leaving his rival to, apparently, die. Jason dies in the battle, the good part of his psyche winning, and tells Nightcrawler it is okay for him to leave him this time.
The Sentinels, Master Mold, and Jason out of the picture, the X-Men head home. Nightcrawler tells Xavier he does not want to be an X-Man, for their lives are too violent and he is a peaceful man. Xavier tells him he is always welcome in the Mansion, and Kurt leaves, explaining his absence in X-Men: The Last Stand. Xavier ponders what is in the future of the X-Men, and we go to Cyclops, who is tormented by images of Jean's home and hallucinations of her voice..." wikipedia.
wouldn't that have made a better movie than what we got? Nightcrawler facing Jason's ghost, and everyone working together again? mutants united?

First time I watched it, I was most dissappointed by the focus on Wolverine. Hugh Jackman is incredible actor but not ideal Wolverine, and I don't like the movie being centered on him so much. The end of the movie was too much drama. I watched it a second and third time and began to appreciate the action scenes and began to appreciate the story in spite of the departures from the comic plot. If you didn't know the comic story, you wouldn't be as dissapointed, and i guess I could see that better after few more watches. The Juggernaut/Kitty scene is very cool, alot of the fight scenes are cool. So, I will give it a 7/10.
Improvements - more intelligent dialog, less Wolverine, much less Storm, don't kill of Scott and Professor and bring back nightcrawler, the single best character portrayed in all three Xmen movies. Opening scene of X2 is probably best superhero movie scene, period.

I have to compare this movie to Highlander 2. It is a sequal that is so much worse than the preceding movie that it damages the franchise. It wasn't just the bad acting (some of the acting was good), or the less than stellar special effects. It wasn't just the bad directing or bad writing. It wasn't just the full of holes and badly put together plot. (Did anyone else feel pulling a fluid from a mutant to create a threat seem to be regurgitated from the second movie?) It wasn't just the horrible inacurracies when translating comic characters to the movie screen. Having too many characters to fit into the movie didn't kill the movie for me either. The needless deaths bothered me. They bothered me even more when I found out the writers weren't even using the deaths to advance the story. (When character's parts are written based on something the actor portraying them did, it says some very bad things about the writing.) The fact that this movie seemed to ignore the character develpment that the first two movies set forth, bothered me a lot. When you watch a sequel, you expect to see at least some of the same people from the prior film. I saw people with the same names that looked the same, but acted completely different from their versions in the earlier two films. Even this lack of continuity both with the characters and the tone/feel of the movie wouldn't have totally killed the movie for me. But all of these things combined gave me a bad taste in my mouth. They managed to even take away from what good I might have got from it. Magneto's handling of the convoy will always be tainted by the way he treated Mystique.
Overall, not quite as bad as Highlander 2. I give it a 1.5.
Hey all. Im writing here and now (on this particular thread, as it has the largest number of voters on any Rate The Movie weve done, and Id like to get the word out) to let everyone who doesnt already know that Rate The Movies (RTM) now has its very own subforum, attached though completely seperate from the main TV/Movies forum here on HCR.
As such, were all now free to vote on as many of these as often as we like, without worry about taking over the actual TV/Movies forum or a warning email from the Mods (a very valid concern, and one I would understand the Mods getting on people for, though a concern no longer). Links are all provided on each new RTM thread (currently Chasing Amy is the newest one), which will take you to ANY previous film weve done. Posting on these threads and speaking your mind on these movies simply cannot be any easier. :)
So feel free to make your way down here and post as many times as you wish. Weve got a little bit of everything from the old time classics to current day blockbusters, from virtually every genre out there. Plenty of films to satisfy even the pickiest of movie goers, and as always (well, almost always :)) a negative review is as welcome as a positive one - just stay away from my favorites if youre in a nasty mood though. :p
So I hope to see you all paying this new RTM area a visit more often, knowing you can post to your hearts content, and that the invitation is definately OPEN to everyone! :) Thanks all.

So can I vote twice on this movie as a celebration? :)
(Having a new forum, I mean, not about the movie...I'd still give the flick a bad rating. :) )
Uh, no. :p (nice try bud)

Was not the perfect XMen movie, but it was a lot of fun. A good Watch! And I remember how not long ago pre Spiderman, that we didn't have ANY movies like this, so I am glad for it. I give it a 9.25. But I have a feeling, the IRON MAN movie is going to raise the comic movie gendre up a level.

This is one of the worst films I have seen in the last few years, there is no discernable plot, character development consists of people saying their names, Ratner is one of the worst directors working today and Zack Penn shouldn't be allowed within a hundred yards of another screenwriting job.
This movie defecated all over everything that came before it, I have no problem with changing the story lines but you have to stay true to the characters and this movie did not. Killing Cyclops because of what was reportedly an off camera dispute and than having Jean fall in love with Wolverine to sell more toys was almost as annoying as adding 25 new characters and not doing one of them any justice.

Wow, 35 members so far rating and discussing this film. I wish I knew the attraction.....Id put it on all of my RtM threads in the hopes of getting nearly that much participation. :)

3.25 out of 10.
This was by far the weakest of the X-Men trilogy and hopefully the last installment, if they're gonna be this bad from now on. I equate it to Highlander 2 and would prefer to pretend that it was never made. Loved seeing the usual cast of actors/characters, hated what they did with the X-Universe and the storyline from Astonishing X-Men.

4 out of 10. Yeah it was that bad.
I was surprised to see I hadn't rated this yet. I caught it at the dollar theater for $0.50 (!) last year...usually a sign that a film will do better than if I spent full price to see it.
Anyway: I liked this move more than I liked Superman Returns. the film has flaws, but for a genre movie, it has a LOT of what other genre movies don't have: characters showing off their powers and a straightforward plot that builds to a climatic fight scene involving everybody left (at that point).
X3 made me realize just how over-rated Bryan Singer is.
I'll give X3 a solid 7.0/10

X3 was by far for me the worst ofthe 3 movies in the franchise! Its like going up a roller coaster hill. The first movie was exciting, but then we climb higher and we see the second movie (my favorite), and then as we get tothe top we realize that the drop on the other side goes about 2 inches and well......that anticipation was great but the overall effect of the third movie was ....nothing!
Too much going on, and the death of heroes and no one really giving two craps that cyclops was dead..ugh!
My wife hated it too!!
I give it a 4 because at least the Beast was very entertaining and it was nice to see Colossus and at least the HEAD of a Sentinel!!

Really and seriously, this movie blows goats. I know my X-men history and while I think its nice that they attempted to do some grand stuff it falls flat on its face and the nose bone shoots into its brain killing it.
its just a bad bad movie.
I give it a 6/10 just because I find it hard to hate any comic film made in the last decade or so. If I think one is bad I just think back to the comic films that were out when I was a kid and even a film like Elektra is a masterpiece.
