Doesn't seem to be too popular, does it?
I've never even heard of it...
Suprisingly I liked it. I resisted watching it for the longest time.....

Tombstone is a movie about Wyat Earp, Doc Holliday and the shootout at the OK Corral (among other things) Starts Kurt Russel, Val Kilmer, Bill Paxton, and came out around the same time as Kevin Costners much longer and more drama oriented (to Tombstones more action film), Wyatt Earp. Personally, I liked this movie alot myself. Im a big fan of Kurt Russell, and not really knowing anything about these western legends I just sat back and had a good time throughout. Again, a faster, livelier (and in my opinion more enjoyable) outing than Costners Wyatt Earp, this is a film I enjoyed and I would certtainly recommend it to all fans of action oriented westerns.

I'm going to rent it this weekend. I'm a big fan of westerns, especially anything that is attached to Leone, so expect me to way in by Monday.
Thanks, I couldn't remeber if this was the Kurt Russel movie of the long boring although more historically accurate Kevin Costner movie.
When I think of Val Kilmer, this is the movie I think of.
Thomas Hayden Church is one of the Cowboy gang members who starts the fight which leads to the OK Corral.
"I am your Huckleberry, Sir." 7.5

Oh, he's not the only one. The cast is a who's who of stellar character actors. Powers Boothe (the downed American pilot in Red Dawn), Michael Biehn (joining Aliens squadmate Bill Paxton), Brendan from 90210, Henry from Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Billy Bob Thornton (watching him get slapped around by Snake Plissken is a joy), Billy Zane (whose presence, as I've said before, guarantees any movie an additional point from me), Chris in the Morning from Northern Exposure (or Aidan from Sex in the City, depending on your TV viewing habits), and Locke from Lost are all here. Add Dana Delaney (who I've had a mad crush on since China Beach), Chuck Heston, Sam Elliott, Kurt Russell, and the scene-stealing Val Kilmer, and you've got the finest ensemble cast to slap on spurs on the big screen since The Magnificent Seven (although Lonesome Dove takes the overall "best western" prize for me). The movie is ostensibly about the Earp clan, but anyone who's seen it will tell you that it really only gets going when Doc is onscreen. Russell gets a host of wonderful lines ("Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens!"), but it's Kilmer who really sells them. My favorites being, "Very cosmopolitan," and "Oh, Johnny, I apologize. I forgot you were there. You may go now." While the final third is essentially a revenge drama, the interaction between Doc and Wyatt keeps the characters from becoming caricatures. Strong performances, a great story, a surprisingly good soundtrack, and C-list workhorse Billy Zane all contribute to a solid 9.0 rating from me.

I generally hate westerns, especially the spaghetti ones. This movie is one of my favorite movies of all time. It sets the standard for moder westerns, along side movies like Young Guns, YG 2, and Unforgiven.
I give this one a 10.
The cast is awesome, as has been pointed out, and it is well written.

I can't believe some folks have not seen this movie. It is by far my favorite Western, and in my top five movies of all time. It may be the movie I quote the most from.
Some Favs -
'Go ahead skin that smokewagon'
'You gonna do something, or just stand there and bleed'
'I've got two guns, one for the each of ya!'
'I'm your Huckleberry'
And I could go on. As hail eris said it is the finest ensemble cast I've ever seen. And yes, Doc Holiday steals every scene he is in. And Sam Elliot gives a bang up job as well.
9/10
Im officially raising my rating to 8.25, thanks to those posts above whove helped me remember this film a bit better. (close to a 8.50 really....somebody throw me a few more bits for my memory and Im there) :)
Say, whats the line Kurt Russell gives at the beginning of the 3rd Act (when the Earps Strike Back):
"You tell em Im coming, and Hells Coming With Me!!" (???)
I havent seen this film is Years and that line, or the correct version of it anyway, still sticks in my head. :)

After the good ratings I decided to check out the movie.
My conclusion is that I should never ever watch Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp, as I found the supposedly faster and livelier Tombstone to be too long and too slow for my taste.
All in all it was okay, although I won't watch it again.
7/10 from me.
Would have been half a point higher if only I had stopped watching 90 seconds before the end.

Good western, and I don't generally like Westerns or Val Kilmer, but the movie was pretty good.

Good script, good actors, good overall filming. I used to own it, then when I moved, I left it at my mom's... :( Now I have no idea where it is.... I don't really like Val Kilmer either, but I DO like Kevin Costner. My explaination for that? Three words: Dances. With. Wolves.
Though I must admit, I'm quite the western fan, be it movies or music.
Hmm...Piratejessi,
This isn't the Kevin Costner movie. Its the Kurt Russell one.
When I was a kid, I had a huge love of the Old West.
I can't tell you how many research papers I wrote on Billy the Kid (one of which garnered an 'A' despite quoting heavily from the original Young Guns movie) ... and, living in Kansas, we've got a wealth of 'old west' history that happened right here from, well, anything in Dodge City, to the Dalton Gang shoot out in Coffeyville, to Buffalo Bill Cody and Wild Bill Hickok. And, of course, it was in Kansas that Wyatt met Bat Masterson.
This movie has long been one of my favorite westerns (Young Guns, and Young Guns 2 being the two others). So, while I may admittedly be a bit biased, for cinematic story-telling of what is, essentially, history which is incredibly tough to make 'entertaining' for most people, I give this movie a 9.25.
Tombstone is great as Hail Eris pointed out features an incerdible cast. Val Kilmer steals the show as Doc Holliday. "Your a daisy if you do." This movie is great rent or buy. 10/10.
When Doc does that thing with the teacup. Awesome!
You're a daisy if you do.

"I know why we're here, but why are you Doc?"
"Because, Wyatt Earp is my Friend."
"Hell Doc, I've got lots of Friends..."
".... I Don't."
LOVE this movie! 10/10
Perfect Western.

Right you are my friend, and I realized this right after I logged off and shut down my computer. And what do ya know, it was on TV yesterday, too.

I love the cast they put together for this film. Kurt Russel, Sam Sheppard (GREAT western actor), Val Kilmer, Bil Paxton...
I love Western movies, John Wayne, Randoplh Scott (ahhhhhh.........), Audie Murphy, Jimme Stewart, James Gardner, etc. This is up there with my favorites from yesteryear.
I didnt care for Young Guns that much, and YG2 was a rotten film, as are most modern Westerns (Quick and the Dead and Unforgiven were both rotten). I DID like Tombstone.
"I'm here Huckleberry."

One of the slickest, tightest, westerns ever. It's one of those movies I can have on in the background anywhere, anytime. I can't pass it up if I'm flipping channels. Great acting by everyone on board for this. The whole "show-down" in the bar between Doc and Ringo is one of the best scenes ever put on film.
Doc: ::gesturing to Johnny Ringo:: "Look darlin', it's Johnny Ringo. The deadliest pistoleer since Wild Bill they say."
*slight pause*
Doc: "What do you think darlin', should I hate him?"
Kate: "You don't even know him."
Doc: "I don't know...something about him reminds me of...me."
Ringo: ::mouthing off in Latin::
Doc: "That's Latin darlin'...evidently Johnny's an educated man. Now I really hate him."
As I don't like to give a 10 to anything that I can think of...I have to say 9.5. :)
Wow, talk about a film that just wont die, and with these scores its getting lately, it could be HCRs own Cult Classic as well.

I can't believe I didn't notice this movie was up. Now I do like me the occasional western but this film is by far my favorite one. Perhaps my favorite film of all. Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Michael Beihn, Sam Elliot and Sam Sheppard make an awesome cast. This is perhaps the most quotable movie I've ever seen. And I love me them quotes.
Ringo: "Well, I didn't think you show up."
Slight pause as it's Doc Holiday, not Wyatt Earp
Doc: "Why Johnny Ringo, you look like someone just walked over your grave."
Ringo: "Fight's not with you Holiday"
Doc: "But it is, we started a game that we never finished, a game for blood."
Ringo: "I was just foolin"
Doc: "I wasn't and this time (shows a US marshall badge), it's legal."
Ringo: " Alright lunger, lets do it."
Doc : "Just say when".
They draw, Ringo shot in the head
Doc: " Come on!!!....Come on Johnny."
Ringo stuttering and stumbling. And while falling to the ground
Doc: "You're no daisy, you're no daisy at all. Poor soul, you were just too highstrung."
10/10. God I love this movie.
Doc Holliday = complete awesomeness.
8/10
