Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.
Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.
So, what say you all?
Next Film: ??????
I saw this shortly after it was rentable.
I kept watching it with a scientific mind and couldn't get beyond the fact that the whole premise of the movie was bunk.
I also kept thinking how stupid these people were as the movie progressed that I was rooting for the dinos by midway through.
6/10.

Mostly for being impressive rather than good.

I'd give it a solid 8. It was suspenseful and had cool special effects, but the plot was kind of predictable.

You went into Jurassic Park with a scientific mind??? You do know who Steven Speilberg is, right? :)
Personally, while its no Jaws by any stretch, I truly enjoyed Jurassic Park, and for what it was (a popcorn, special effects, picture) it more than did its thing.
Full rating from me later, go to Rush Off To Work Now. :p

Eh, it was an entertaining film. I enjoyed the first time through. Each time after, it got worse. Not including the sequels, for pete's sake. :tired:
But, since it is solid, a 7/10 is in order.

It's a good popcorn movie, and the special effects were really something for it's day. It was one of the first movies to really use CGI extensively, and I remember being quite taken with the first shot of the brachiosaurs. A fun movie doesn't automatically translate to a great movie, but good enough fot
7.5 of 10
The girl in it had a nice big butt. The Velociraptors were awesome. People suck. And the T-Rex rules antarctica.
7/10
I was going to say 5 but Newman was in it.

What about Samuel L. Jackson? No recognition for the black guy who dies (Yes, I know which actor i'm talking about)?

Hold on to you're butts.
Mostly for being impressive rather than good.
Now that is a valid point!
8/10 for me as well.

I was 11 when the movie came out and I had never seen such a big hype.
Suddenly there were dinosaurs everywhere.
For the premiere I even got candy in the shape of dinosaurs.
To this day I have one piece of Jurrasic Park merchandice, a big piece of soap in the form of a stegosaurus (don't worry, I had other soap to use instead).
Coming to think of it, I haven't seen such a big hype, either.
Even Episode 1 oder Lord of the Rings didn't strike me as that big, although that's probably an effect of age.
Personally, I enjoyed this film, and in my mind it basically did everything it set out to do. The special effects were Unreal, truly more realistic dinos have never been seen before. The story was decent enough for what this film was (I wasnt looking for Da Vinci Code level complexity here), and the overall action (and dino chomping) certainly didnt disappoint.
Loses a bit from me due to the final scene, in which a T-Rex snuck into the main chamber so stealthily that neither the humans or the raptors saw (or felt) him, but overall it was an enjoyable action/monster flick, and one I could watch again every so often.

Jurrasic Park Is the worst major Hollywood film I have ever seen, far too much hype. I'd prefer to watch any other Spielberg film. Okay I thought the bit where the T-Rex eats the guy was alright but only because I was about 13 when I first saw it.
In my mind, whenever you bring dinosaurs into a film it is ruined.
Is it just me or was the young girl in it Kirsten Dunst?
For me 6/10. A must-see movie but is generally bad.
You think Jurrasic Park was over hyped???? Do you remember Phantom Menace??

I forget her name and I'm too lazy to see what it is right now but she's no star
I agree with the popular sentiment about this movie, good flick definetly worth watching, not the best story but still a solid movie
I'll give it a 7/10

Jurassic park is one of my all time favorite movies. I have no clue what age I saw it at but I was young (And still am) but I remember it being my favorite movie. In my mind, the movie has the best looking dinos you can get and some really good actors.
I'm givin it a 9/10

I remember Phontome Menace and Lucas has Speilberg beat on tie-ins every day of the week and twice on Saturdays but 3 times on Friday nights after the Matinee shows.

man creates Dinosaur, Dinosaur eats man. Woman inherets Earth.
*ring* *ring* Hammond picks up phone: "Mr.Hammond the phones are working again."
AWESOME classic 10/10:classic: I can watch it over and over again.
I would have ranked this higher before I finally read the book. This film could have been so much cooler. I still watch it every now and then though.
7.5/10
