So, our next film, Classic or Crud, Hit or Miss, what say you ALL?

Our next film open for discussion, and ultimately an Overall RATING by you all:

SILVERADO

Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.

Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.

So, what say you all?

Next Film: ??????

Come now, I know this may not be as classic a western as say Tombstone, The Good The Bad and The Ugly or Unforgiven, but surely some of us have seen it enough to comment/rate it here? :)

I really like this movie, for being a Western. It's one of the 5 Westerns I own (Tombstone, Young Guns 1 & 2, and Unforgiven being the others), and I think it was a really good movie. The cast whie not all-star calibre, doesn't get more solid than that. I'll give it an 8/10.

Not an all star calibre cast? With the likes of Scott Glenn, Kevin Kline, Kevin Costner, Danny Glover, Linda Hunt, Brian Dennehy, John Cleese, and Jeff Goldblum, Id say it may very well be the most all star Western ever (especially at the time this came out, when they were all much more well known - cept Costner, this being one of his first films). :) I too liked this film, and while it seemed a bit more Hollywood that other dark and gritty westerns before and after, it was definately very enjoyable overall nonetheless. A more fun that brutally realistic portrayal of old Western life, though in the end I didnt mind that one bit.

Silverado - 7.75 / 10

Silverado was the first western I ever saw on the big screen, so it will always rate quite high with me. I'd seen lots of westerns before, but they were usually old John Wayne or Clint Eastwood movies on TV. Since I'm a big Eastwood fan, the fact that this film leaned heavily towards the rough edged Eastwood style makes me like it even more.

9 of 10

Been a loong time, but I do remember that even though I was never a big fan of Westerns that I surprised myself by genuinely enjoying it. Made a good enough impression for me to give it an 8 of 10.

I was suprised by some of the complexities in this western. I liked it a lot.... 'heard they got a new 2 disk version out.... gonna have to see if I can rustle up enough silver fer to watch it 'n add it to the collection.... put it right next to the Spaghetti section...... ;)

edit: heh heh, forgot to rate it:
8.75
