Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.

I really like this movie. The performances, the cinematography, the music, they're all top notch. One of the last of the great Hollywood epics. However, even I'll admit it does run on a bit long in spots. Still, a well-deserved classic here.
Rating 9 of 10.

Thanks DTM!
I LOVE this film, it is certainly one of showbiz's finest. Shot in the 60s, and the picture quality is better then any film I've seen made today. Absolutely crisp, clear, lovely color and lines. For all time best cinemetography, this is it. I'm not a big desert fan, but it's hard not fall in love with the stunning beauty of the desert in this film. Stark, clean, naked. Characters pop out and seem more majestic, larger, and more dramatic against the sand.
The is definately Peter O'Toole's greatest film (and he is a great actor), add in Omar Sharif, Alec Guiness, and Anthony Quinn and you have movie making magic.
The sweeping score, the great story, the incredible picture quality, the amazingly brilliant acting, I still love to watch it.
It is long, but it has an epic story to tell, where it any shorter, and the movie just wouldn't be the same
10/10 (and yes, that's the first ever 10/10 from me I believe) for what I feel is possibly the greatest film of all time.
Thanks DTM!
:) I aim to please. :)
This is one film I Have To see. Ive heard so many Great things about this one, Im tempted to give it a 9 sight unseen. :p But cant do that, though think, along with Gone With The Wind and Ben Hur, is another old time classic that I really need to get to my video store and rent (more incentive sos I can place a rating on their threads here - well, Gone With The Wind when I throw it up anyway) :)
This is both an amazing story and an incredible film; it is well deserving of the decades of praise heaped upon it. It's such a solid 10/10 that it really ought not be included on the same page as many of the other 'movies'.
CURRENT HCR MEMBER RATING:
LAURENCE OF ARABIA - 9.67 / 10

Well, the third film in a row that has a very low rating count (Silverado - 5, Mad Max - 3, LoA - 3) Hope Im not overstaying my welcome with these threads? We havent even hit the Sequels section yet. :)
Winner of 7 Oscars and deserved every one. 10!

May just be a run of films that not a lot of your readers have seen. Mad Max I know I haven't seen in so long I don't feel like I can rate it, and Silverado I almost didn't rate either. This one's gaining reviewers steadily still.

I'd have to agree...but as a cynical old bastard, I'd have to say that when the hoi polloi are rating 2-star and 3-star films 9+ out of 10...its safe to say that they probably haven't seen as many non-genre or classic films.
For myself, I really enjoy all movies...but I don't go too far out of the way to watch films from certain genres.

It breaks my heart to realize more people on HCRealms have seen "X-3" or "Pirates 2" than one of the great classic epics that helped Hollywood's flame burn bright. It almost seems disrespectful...like someone is replacing the Bill of Rights with Woodstock.
Does it run a bit long in places? Perhaps but that was appropriate for the era in which it was made. People wanted their epic films to be lengthier and to delve into things. Lawrence was not an unknown person to the original filmgoers but I imagine Peter O'Toole brought him to life in a way history books never did prior to the film.
Seeing this film get "ignored" is a bit like hearing folks complain that Superman wasn't brutal enough in "Superman Returns" - like a bit of innocence has been forgotten.
Besides, while it's no my favourite film of Sir Alecs' (that would be "Bridge" - yes, even over "Star Wars"), it's got him which automatically means it's a 9-rating at minimum. ;)
Rating: 9.5 (a slight deduction for a few parts that I feel could've been edited to help the film age better but I feel guilty doing even that)

I picked up the dvd at the supermarket a couple days ago, since they tend to have movies that are considered classics for a very reasonable price.
Since I hadn't seen Lawrence of Arabia before and read many a good thing about it, I wanted to check it out.
Now that I have spent nearly four hours on watching it, I can't say that I understand what the fuss is about.
It does have a remarkable collection of the most peculiar characters I have ever seen in a movie, but that alone does not make it entertaining.
I'll give it a 7/10, but it's only so high because I like the overture so much.
