Elo :grin: I'm sure everyone is wondering how POM's get the recognition.. I'm pretty curious too! ;) So from this week onwards, I'll be posting Road to POM to keep everyone updated on the current POM standings and how the top players of the month got there. Watch out every sunday or monday for the POM standings.

Joel created a new traditional big event called "Ultimate Player" that will feature POM's and judges. I think I can play Ben Urich for Philippine clix and give you guys a good perspective of what it takes to be a POM.

Naj makes an appearance with a wednesday win in NG G2.. Conrad put up a close to normal heroclix game and it saw some pretty powerful combos. Naj brings out the current godlike fig in KC Flash with KC red robin as support and got the big W. Joel's LAMP and the only guy who used multiples of the same attack pieces came just a lil short of a victory. KC Flash is very difficult to KO and with all the feats you can put on him.. this is the fig that deserves the tag Heroclix god(in 300-400 only).. Positioning is a prereq to run and beat a KC flash team.. Congrats to Naj for a great win.:cool:

I didnt think i'd be doing myself here..:rolleyes: But here goes.. It was a great sunday in ATC.. the prize was a killer, lotz of people, JB celebrating his birthday with the clix people, and everyone was in a great mood. My team was all set but the last minute change of the format forced all of us to change teams. The twist was utterly devastating.. CROSSWINDS and EARTHQUAKE!!!( and the way people were rolling that day.. jeez.. NO ONE was saved) There was a saving grace though.. senses could save you and other defense abilities still worked in spite of earthquake(special ruling for this format only).. of course everyone had a fig with super senses so it came down to the roll. Marco was definitely the guy to beat. He lost the last round though (the guy he fought had vet Hawkeye(FF) with nanobots) and I just came up on points. Everyone had great teams.. (i used a vet hawkeye (FF) though:eek: ) But everything in the first and last round was #### after the twist. Everyone had fun and comaraderie was definitely there.. Pizza was good too.. Tnx to Juberbay for the great opportunity!

nicky just fell short of taking a 2 day back2back win despite all the critical hitting on Charlon's thing! The team compositions based on the posts were quite creative and the tourney featured an all FF LE team by Charlon. In many other ways.. Charlon's team was quite a HIGHLIGHT:eek: Using figs from only Mutant Mayhem, Fantastic Forces and Armor Wars.. This was a good test of team building and making do with what you have on the table. Conrad won;)

Nicky takes this one in spite of all the "screwings" to our favorite boyscout in different positions:classic: Gale is really Nicky's venue and he's the first guy you'll have to get through to score in this venue. From what I've heard.. nicky used a R superman (CD) and unfortunately for the players.. the twists were something like "swap supermen", "reduce supes to the last click", and "bad to the bone".. I'm sure everyone enjoyed the pizza though!


Clix Bits:

Talking to marco.. he remarked about something that I found significant.
"Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit naiintimidate mga players sakin.. yung tipong sasabihing 'wala, talo na to' pagnakalaban ako.. Nakaisa na sa akin halos lahat ng players.. Kabado nga ako sa mga dice rolls ko e.."

Not verbatim but i think you got the gist. Anyone has a chance to win against any player given the right opportunity. But its ok to feel intimidated against him though.. Magaling kc e. Something Joel said too.. "ala din sa swerte yan.. kung panalo ka.. panalo ka" or something like that.:p

Using a team with the pit crew (Universe's Con Artist, Destiny, Black Panther, Paramedic and Jean Grey) and 2 Hitters from unleashed in E Black Adam and LE Kara Zor El. For everyone's convenience i will define STOPP. "It is the state in which all motion or activity has ceased".. errr.. uh.. "it is the red in the..." sonofva.. wait a sec, I KNOW THIS!!!

I like the team and the win because it also represents the retirement of such archetypes with the retirement of Universe and to some extent Unleashed. Very effective close combat oriented team with Batgirl providing the stealth TA. Well runned too seeing as Marco won three straight with this. Here's his team

Myke shows off some mutant quickness in the wed tourney against javey, conrad and arthur.. Very simple and very effective in a format that limits printed damage value to below three. Although the team was beaten by Javey via IIF(which was a great move btw). And IIF seems to be the only silver bullet against a team like this in a format like this. Great team and I'm sure they looked awesome on the board!

This is the post basketball tourney and it was a great event. The teams were nice and given myke's relative inexperience with his pieces(they were all DC villains), he ruled that tourney bumping off fellow POM candidate Nicky in the process. The last match was against Mindreader's Hal and Kyle team. I saw some good teams that day. The one I liked particularly was Elvin's flash rogues team. Myke really dominated and won this tourney outright with great moves and good dice.(yep.. can't win without rolling the dice;) )

1. Nicky = 5 + 2.5 + 4 + 2.33 = 13.63 = 2 wins

drumroll................ tada!! Nicky maintains that top spot after two weeks of plastic mayhem. Nicky ranked 3rd in the Gale tourney and lost only once that was against Myke's team. I fought against Nicky's team and I got blasted bad! He had vet dr. light on his team along with V trickster, U Prometheus and E jinx. As if that was evil enough.. (well wildcards wouldn't be evil with TA's to copy right?).. V intergang medic provided the super man enemy TA to provide enough outwit to knockout all four slots of a single character! Although I'm not sure how the super man enemy TA works..(with regards to how the units are paired to gain outwit) but still the potential of three or more outwit in one team is nasty enough. Myke just managed to pull of a win against his well thought out team.

Clix Bits:

Basketball was a blast!! Lots of fun!! The sinister issue of this week (or this month rather) is the inherrent delay of the latest set in our Neutral Grounds shops where we play in. These players who support the heroclix community and play even if Sinister hasn't been released yet(and they want to spend for that set) are making a good deal of sacrifice by playing.(hey 150 is still 150 and a student like I am or a bachelor like a lot of the gamers need all the cash they can get). But hey.. this isn't a complaint thread! heavens nooooooooo.... I do understand that we play THEIR game and THEIR rules. So I guess we can hold our judgments to ourselves.:sleep:

Nicky joins in only one tourney this week and the reality of it all becomes apparently clear in our road to POM. Anything can change in a given week. With about 3-5 tourneys in every week, the attendance and the quality of your performance greatly affects your POM standings. Nicky uses Loki in this tourney. Loki is a swiss army piece with a short dial (8 I think) for the points. His main offense is his 12 AV and Psyblast for 3. 3 clicks cripple 90% of all heroclix made and thus solidifying this piece's viability. From my point of view, Nicky's team lacked a secondary attacker since the space were filled with the support crew (Clarice for TK and Ghost Widow for healing). There were a lot of teams that day and good teams were thrown around. If there was a player who could pull off a few wins with this team it would be Nicky. Loki has great potential and Nicky was gallant enough to try him. I've seen him appear in some of the player's lists of figs they have but haven't tried yet. He surrounded him with all the right TA's just didn't pull it off that time. Try him out! Wish I had one.. :grin:

Most team had no idea just how powerful this combo
will be this game.
Myke takes a dip in Conrad's prestigious invitational tourney for his UHP slot. Drew out a helluva crowd with ten players playing in 30 minute battles. Very difficult place to grab a win at. Mutants with speed was Myke's recurring theme this month. Unfortunately his mutants bowed to a machine(accdg to him;) ) Quite difficult to win with a team with 3 base damage as the highest dmg value. But like Conrad said.. he gets better everytime..

In the Saturday tourney(Myke's team in GREEN), Myke got a good seeding.(heh.. sounded odd don't you think?:) ) Yeah he managed to grab second place in the largest tourney this month. 6 pts worth of Mutant madness. This may give him a big lift in securing that UHP spot for this month(More on that in Marco's write up..). The most thematic team of that tourney and it got 2nd place. Very well done indeed( although Ghost Widow makes a brief appearance with the X-men and a lot of other comic teams.. heh:laugh: ) I have to comment on the DC king's win with a Nova blastin' Brainiac for 5 straight clicks. I mean really.. getting hit like that from all directions can really suck the life out of any team and seems like Patrick did just that and secures a great win.

Marco has been confirmed as a player for the upcoming UHP by the Black Knight, Joel. He does so in dominating fashion as he wins with a Sentinel Colossal fig and a lot of perplex. Very well done and he edges everyone in points probably due to the captures. Marco's team is in Purple. A lot of people aren't really aware of how powerful the sentinel strategy is. Your captures can be worth double the points. The sentinel can push unlimitedly and perplexers and prob pieces have clear lines of sight on him. The multi-attack function provides some fire power. The capture is also something terribly devastating. Imagine your big gun in your big gun team getting captured! If you have R jean grey, R black panther, V paramedic or other support figs.. they can do nothing to bring your main piece back(except maybe pray for a critical hit;) ). This win of his may have just crowned him July's Player of the Month.

Judge Conrad showcases some skills of his own and captures last week's ATC crown. Marco uses his Hydra team which I've seen him run before. Stealth is obviously his team's biggest weakness since it lacks mobility and MODOK cant use Psyblast against stealth. Stealth also knocks out MODOK's outwit. But still teams like this one are best overseered by players like Marco and I have to say that Jessica Drew looks even sexier with the Combat Reflexes boost.

Thanks once again to Alstaire for starting this thread and for starting other IMPORTANT threads. I am so happy about this thread that we are all enjoying and the Philippines being recognized as a separate entity. Gives all of us a time to shine.

This was a great tourney idea and everyone brought something interesting for the fray. I really liked conrad's team, though. Civil war is definitely breaking out at the seams. I can't believe he found a way to fit Nick in with cap, herc and DD. These are the end days. By your actions.. you will be judged accordingly.:p Spidermark brought a classic big gun team with the slugger by the codename Lightning. Quite ironic that Thor places 1st and the anti-registration fanatics are exactly where they are in comics. TK, Prob, Support, Perplex and the seldom abused support ability.. DEFEND w/ 18... Truly gnarly.. (if there was such a word:o ). Nicky really loves using prometheus and has brought him to the pantheon quite consistently this month..(keeps making me think 'bout the Recluse's Garrage sale.. heh:ermm: ) Nicky is like a great point guard in clix. He maximizes the usage of his force. Very good at tactics and can pull off wins with giant characters and other seldom used figs. A very good stealth-anti-stealth idea that just didn't get all the stops he needed to win the entire tourney but got enough points to remain in the top three.

Nicky plays well and plays with his own distinct style. He only attends 6 tournaments yet raked up enough points to keep at par with the Top 3. Well done.

Myke the mutant.. (am I allowed to coin that?:p ) His battle report says it all. Multi-team formats are very difficult ones and you have to prepare a couple of solid teams ready for any threat because of the diversity that you must expect to face. Myke's villain team has the greatest equalizer to be made thus far. Emerald Empress. This lil beauty takes out all your powers and plays you four your raw numbers. with a 10 av (pumpable to 13?!), 8 range and 4 damage (pumpable to seven for single targets), the Empress does what she needs to do for 100 points or less. Nova blast today is becoming more of a threat than an actual strategy. Playing against a nova blast character will always make players nervous and it gives the Nova blaster a distinct tactical advantage. Myke stays true to mutant quickness and uses his staple Jeanne Marie and Quicksilver. Great win.

Refer to the the NG Galleria battlerepart for Myke's team last sat. Myke swarmed the opposition with X-men mainstays. Of course the hyper-couple shows up in his team with a third member in Nightcrawler. So how can two damage or three win a fight? Two perplexers an one outwit piece (R con artist, E gambit, and R beast(ult)) ensures the damage will stick. Spidermark wins the tournament though but left Myke with second place and 4 big points for his POM total.

I have no idea what the format was or what teams were used but ill make a guess anyway. 400pts pure team faction open fcs and bfcs. Myke has the brotherhood or the x-men at his disposal. Knyt would've brought out his sinister syndicate, conrad plays all sorts of teams and Xandy probably brought uhm.. avengers? Myke probably won using a balanced well rounded team with useful support powers STOPP. Am I anywhere near close or am I lost in the third place?(anyone out there read constantine:) )

So we conclude a month long querry of what it takes to win POM. Myke attends 8 tournaments winning half of them(won 4times). i've laid before you a path towards POM. But this is not the only path to POM. Myke plays with his beloved mutants almost every tourney and won consistently and played well. He's a great testament for players who use their favorite figs.

Yep.. it's break up month.. August brings about a negative energy with it (and I was born on this month!). But In Philippine clix POV... It's a great month!! The UHP format has just been concluded and man it was a blast! Many thanks to the heart of Philippine clix.. Joel the black knight! Jhun comes in at third winning in a UHP warm up. Jhun uses a cohesive line up but looks more of a fun team than of anything standard. Jhun must've played well with that team of his, beating a nova blaster. I'd say Jhun is the type of player that gets on a roll and when he does.. very difficult to stop. What I love most about the UHP format is the sudden importance of the giant fig. But Atlas and Andy were the dominant giants of the UHP. I was just wondering though why anyone else didn't think of using Rita Farr? The cheapest giant available at the time would've allowed you to flex those points which is very important in team building. I just have to say this.. Arthur uses Ragman... Ragman is one mean MOFO.. just look at his sculpt!:)

Spidermark uses a mean dice and his own brand of careful planning to mobilize his game. As a civil war fan.. this format is just great! I love these formats that cons throws this civil war season. Sadly the Anti-registration is horribly outmatched!! But still they are a blast to play. Thor uses a high attack and dmg to keep him on the offensive and figs like R invisble girl fills up his one glaring weakness: 16 def. That 16 plummets to a really bad 12. I don't know what mark put in his team but i think sue or the R invisible woman would make sense. Iron man is a well rounded ranged fighter and all his versions have potential (looks at REV from xplosion:noid: ) uhm... ALMOST.:)

Patrick.. you know him well.. The talking starfish from the cartoon.. erhm.. I meant clixboy!!:knockedou The UHP runner-up himself! the DC king! A former POM, joining spidermark to make two former POMs contenders for this month. I believe his lead is nigh insurmountable if he continues to play this month. If these pre-UHP events indicated anything.. it is the fact that patrick would definitely finish on top. This win showcases the LAMP with supes. Very well done with a great team. I know I mentioned that LAMP was one of the keys for winning the UHP event and this is just icing. LAMP is one of the greatest DISTRACTIONS you could ever set-up in high point games (along with NOVA BLAST). I do believe that Patrick always runs his team well and I would consider him a good meta-gamer. Right now (this is without his 10pts from UHP), Patrick is sitting pretty on top.

Clix Bits:

I have to say first that UHP was a great event.( said that twice) I thought the format and the top 8 selection would prove to be problematic but it turned out to be what made the event an overwhelming success. Giant fig selection became an important aspect of team building. Sadly the DC Giants weren't really available to the players and is probably the only reason behind the massive use of FF giants. Well if I had a giant set I would definitely have gone Rita Farr or Giganta. We all love women but these proportionately massive chicks are just plain perplexing:p

The Eyes of Spidermark just couldn't pull it out that night forgetting to roll for leadership and succumbing to Patrick's team at the last round. The teams that came out on top were those that used the 100+ pt cap taking advantage of that ridiculous brilliant tact and perplex all the way scenario bonus! It was great fun though the top teams used nova blast. Mark's team lacked the firepower necessary to carry a 500 pt team. 100 pts are dedicated to TK duties for his slingshot nova blast (R polaris and V jean grey). Banshee definitely is of lower quality when compared to the Phoenix in nova blasting capability. That 11 attack spells a lot of threat and makes a big difference. Mark played well despite the lack of firepower and kicked butt! Just didn't win the last one.

Joel has a great eye for clix skill. Two of his horsemen made it to the semis and one of them won the whole thing! Charlon joins but one tourney and makes it to the top two this month! "I've had the honor of being smacked around by" his team so I know how well it plays. Two factors made Charlon's team great for the UHP format and losing once does not mean it wasn't all that! "Know thy enemy.." Charlon definitely recognizes who the enemy was that enemy is your own crew! That's right this was a competition to see who among the picks of the judges could better the other and the over-all picture was just to paint who had the best record. The best record will not garauntee you a finals spot. Naj went 3-0 but had to succumb to the higher points of patrick and knyt. Marco went 1-2 but still qualified. You see what made charlon's team great for this format was his team would be assured of "quality" victories via the high points in remaining forces with his three highest point figs equipped with the Laz feat and this was his second ace. 6v6 right?! seems fair enough.. Ghost widow ties the whole thing together and gives you a surviving piece for the precious laz time. There are only two ways to win effectively. Reliable healing (KC flash feat overload) and "extra" units via laz pit. 6 + 3 is hardly a match for most team and KC flash feat overload proved to be only kryptonite but you only face the team once if you're not on gundam force and you won't face the same team at all if you're allies with gatx.;). Sure you could win them all but that won't garantee you a spot. The format itself implies that you have to think of a team that will garauntee you a lot of points along with those W's.

Javey's Supes couldn't "Return" from the dead and got outnumbered by The Bat & The Joker's Crew. Patrick wins.

Charlon vs Nicky (Joel's happy at this point, the match-up guarantee's his team gets a spot in the finals.)
In this match-up that is almost a mirror Charlon's GW proved better than Nicky's. Charlon moves on to the finals.

The "Ultimate" round

Patrick (sporting a new cut) vs Charlon
Patrick's the Bat leaves the game early thus putting him in a bad position. The Joker and the rest of the Crew fought bravely but Charlon's Team simply had too much firepower after the Bat's departure.

Now on to the playoffs. You got this far player. Sealed is definitely the way to got to decide who goes on top. Sealed creates a predicament in this case though because of the choice of the set. 1 bizzaro pull and I have to say, "Tough luck man.. It's OVER.." You see the reason why Icons is imbalanced for sealed is because there are figs that can make or break the game. 400 pts and high costs will definitely make the game hard for everyone. Here's where the magic begins. Lockjaw and Ghost widow. The lockjaw players were all corect with their decisions to include the teleportin' dog to their line-ups but Ghost widow didn't seem to be a priority to most(specifically due to the minimal supplies). Ghost widow is great bait. 18 def and arachnos/mystics TA. Support. If you don't deal five damage in a single round of attacks.. chances are you have to do it all over again with that regen in the end. Another tough choice is whether to base the pesky undead or not with that obnoxious poison. Very difficult to kill. Charlon was 'lucky' enough to pull enough carp in his booster + joker. Joker pulls plus other assorted carp was definitely the winning edge for most players. Joker provides the precious outwit and the assorted carp would ensure enough space to fit in that lockjaw and armor piercing to complete the LAMP. While eveyone was laughing at all the crappy pulls, I was amazed to see how effective the final products were. Nicky, Charlon and Clixboy all had the supperior teams by the time round one started. I didn't see the last match but I know it was a fitting end. Charlon goes on to claim the championship. A horseman wins it all! Congrats!

Yep.. I know what everyone is thinking. Holy $%^&! He scores more than twice the formidable 20 pts that Charlon has amassed. Patrick makes a great transition from mech warrior to heroclix and dominates this month. I you want a clear cut road to POM.. this is that path. Win and dominate. If patrick continues to play this month then the POM is in the bag and he will be the first to get it twice in one year!! Great job..


Clix bits:

Conrad's and Ecchs' teams for UHP were severely thrashed by the opposition! But still they were represented well in the finals and Javey even managed to squeeze in to the top 4 with only two figs!!! Sinister is finally out and everyone is going berserk for it! Sealed was definitely fun and if you make good decisions in team building, every team has a shot at a win!

Patrick is our August POM with a great tourney win just moments ago in G2
Statiscally, it's impossible for any player to catch up with patrick now with him raking in 10 pts today. I decided to make the review now so players can check out what happedned just now.

The format was 500 pts all sinister and danger room. Here is Patrick's team by memory (Yes.. I have had the supreme glory of being smacked around by his great team) so just check the battle report when it gets posted for accuracy;)

I've decided to break down his team and perhaps uncover a little insight along the way at how it was constructed and played. Every fig is useful in a sense that they could all attack. Move-and-attack-a-plenty with 3chargers, 2 running shot pieces and a TK which provides the move and attack for Nick. Kaz-ar is the extremely useful tie-up piece. The team has 1 perplex and 1 outwit. Rhino provides the potential 1 hit KO with that 4 damage and superstrength combo.

Sinister is a set with high defense, limited probability control and disgusting AVs. 10 is definitely good for this set and patrick has two with that 10 upfront (valkyrie and Mach IV) and 4 with 10 AV spikes (Nick, Kaz-ar, Rhino, and Falcon). AV has been covered well and is supplemented by the perplex.

Set up is very easy with this kind of team. Enough flyers and the two of the best ways to block line of sight (Stealth via Nick Fury and High defense ESD cheap cost of Kaz-ar) makes the team very easy to position.
You could easily cover a third of the map on the first turn and tighten on your opponent so your bruisers become effective.

Sinister has represented close combat extremely well. In fact, close combat is the way to go on an all sinister team because most figs were designed that way. Closing in on your opponent early makes a great deal of difference in turning the game into a close combat brawl.

Patrick describes Mach IV as the best utility fig in sinister and his great play with this character certainly backs his point. Two targets 8 range, EE, 10 AV and running shot. Energy explosion takes out those pesky high def clicks, and other def superpowers that increases the chance to miss
(like senses, CR and Deflection) by targeting those figs indirectly. Target a softer fig that's adjacent to the High def character and you can slowly whittle down an opposing fig as you only compare your attack roll to the primary target. This is one of the unlikely ways to take out high defense or def powers alike (others would be force blast or pulse wave).

Kaz-ar provides the ultimate annoyance by basing the current threat of your opposing force with a 40 pt fig that has a 17 defence. Nick provides the stealth, outwit and psyblast. Stealth is definitely a must have power for sinister events. There are just too few ways to get rid of stealth in this set. Most of them would require you basing the stealthed fig.

So patrick wins this month with about 3-4 tourneys to go. Great work by clixboy so from Road to POM, let me be the first to congratulate you online for being player of the month! Congratulations brother!

my favorite cheesy tactic especially on big tournaments is the dual mind control + tk/nova blast. masaya gamitin especialy pag si supes ang klaban. sa big tournaments kasi lagi kang may makikitang supes.
actually, intimidation lang yung nova blast para mag scatter yung kalaban, the real weapon is dual mind control. after mind control, lagay mu yung kalaban kung saan pede kang mag single target pulse wave.

of course, use nova blast when the opportunity arrives.
actually nung clixmagedon, out of 4 rounds, once ko lang sya nagamit. mostly dual mind control ang nagpanalo (exp karma getting hold of two supermen,NGN and CD vet...ouch!):classic:

I also use weird teams and I'm impartial to using TK aND Support.. Never had r jean grey and I outgrew the paramedics too quickly.. but prob is a must for me.. Bano ko tlga mgdice.. I've even used as much as two probability controllers(R scarlet witch and R domino).. Yep.. that's as cheesy as it gets for me..:classic:

I'm happy that the new players and the old ones alike aren't really using medics anymore(xcep for Ghost Widow which is extremely hard to kill!)..
Actually.. medics are just obsolete now.. Nanobots is the way to heal these days.. Healing is especially crucial in midgame situations.. I'm sure everyone's had their fair share of beatings from these quick heal teams..
I'm looking to use nanobots this week.. it's a great card..

I love trying to make any situation work for me.. I'm more of an impromptu strategist than a careful planner.. I have fun everytime i play anyway...:laugh:

Masarap maglaro ng kakaiba! Personally I like using multi-task figures, figures that can switch from support to hitters to finishers. la lng masarap gumawa ng team na iba iba kulay at putahe. Like the last time I fielded kc flash, I fielded kc flash and his number one weakness (joker LAMP) in 1 team. hhehehe well as long as it brings me results and lets me have fun with doesn't really matter. Some say power cheese figs abuser ang mga gumagamet ng kc flash v supes etc etc etc.... well sa lang masasabi ko lahat ng fig may pangontra, lahat ng strategy may counter, pero ang bottom line dyan nasa player pa ren ang diskarte :) ika nga you win some you lose some but most impt of all you had fun! :laugh:

uh.. Geoff who?! I know what most of you are thinking.. but we have a rising star in our top3 this week.:grin: Uhm.. yeah.. WELL... If you guys must know this isn't the first time that this wily character has won a tournament. (I think he won one last month or 2) New players have a certain "edge" in this game wherein their style is not really mapped out yet. All of us who do battle with our little plastic playthings(uh.. no not the battery-powered kind:) ) have somehow scouted how the every guy plays. So in this aspect where Geoff is generally plays in ATC all the time, players that are not used to the venue would probably play against him for the first time if they do. Soooooooooooooooooo.. We got to themed team usage and man I've been aching to do one of these!

Geoff uses the bats allies (or are they batman's batty buddies?! oh geez if I crack anymore stupid jokes like these I might get this thread closed!!!!) Leap/climb+stealth was a gamebreaker back in the day but in themed team format (WITHOUT BFCs!!!!), they are still as dominant! Stealth does not only protect you from range but also from OUTWIT, perplex and probability control.. enter NGN supes.. Well this version of big blue enjoys the bushes more than the average kryptonian.. I think it has a lot to do with the "free" fortitude that it provides.. (It's a BUSH for the gods' sake!!) The introduction of super-man to the batman allies team has turned a team of passenger-only taxi to a one man army type of team faction. That one click of hss is particularly tricky to use as it restrains pushing and an un-"likely" critical miss would ground this run and gun boyscout. But still for 300pts it offers good options. But limited ones, though. Well done Geoff and welcome to the Road to POM.

If only looks could kill (apparently in Charlon's case.. it does!!).. Charlon.. Charlooney.. Char.. lon.. poster boy.. what more can I say brother? This is your year man.. Back to back major events for you (not to mention 10,000 other accomplishments;) ) Charlon picked the right ingredients to pilot the Dark Phoenix to another great win. Triple perplex, Double armor piercing and probability control. The Dark Phoenix has only to real weaknesses: Stealth and Armor piercing. Stealth nullifies the outwit and running shot. Armor piercing makes sure that impervious doesn't become a factor. With 3 perplexers, the multi-attack becomes a devastating force. Small hitters made Charlon's team very difficult to capture. I've had the supreme pleasure (once again..:( ) of being singed on the buttocks by Char's inflamed chicken... :laugh: Congratulations!! This one was well deserved and I couldn't paint a prettier picture for you.

Dare I say this? THREE-PEAT!!! This guy just wins so consistently these past two months that it doesn't seem like a bad idea to assume a three-peat if he keeps this up. Patrcik cut the column short last month (less stuff for me to do:) ) by posting almost 60 pts! Although I didn't really count it coz I didn't need to. Patrick knows how to play clix. Sealed is a great test of impromptu strategy and the man showed some skillz. Sinister is a great sealed event because of sooo many options and less predictable battle results.. I saw this game. 1st round goes by and Gian's KC arch-enemies gets thumped by Patrick's Supes and Luthor! Gian gets a bye win and then wins two straight to capture the gold. How could he have beaten patrick (who wiped him out!) in points? Well.. the last match was a mirror match between Gian and Nicky. Gian KOs the respective arch-enemies and bags double points. Nothing short of destined for me. That tourney was probably handed to Gian in a silver platter by the divine HAND!:) Amazing win! But still.. strategy wins out over probability.. I think the addition of the DEO agent was key for his win over the mirror. DEO agent provides the PD ability, perplex AND the all important 1 hit to KO! We're talking about the KC gods here people. 1 hit from Magog and even Supes would kneel. Wasting that one shot on a DEO agent could make or break a game. Not pursuing the DEO agents hurts you even more with three bonuses every turn.(perplex and the PD ability that both Magog and Supes could use..)

Conrad enjoy's putting up "mirror match-ups".. His formats are somewhat restrictive to make your playing skills decide your fate in his venue. True enough, with a 400pt build and 3 giants to stuff it with, Mark held his own last last wednesday night. With all those giants running around.. how could you possibly make room for outwit?! Well.. those that didn't pack it that night would face a nightmare in the form of the Joker. Mastermind and Stealth can be considered a godly combination. Mastermind keeps you in your deadly click and it is a power that is at par with HSS, Prob, and Outwit. Mark brings the right idea on the table. Joker with three giants and a throng(not thong..) of POGs!!! great win!

Patrick is once again on top. Mark actually stands a good chance of beating him for this month's POM and I'm sure Patrick welcomes the challenge. Ironically, Mark provides the one loss for patrick last saturday that gave Gian the openning he needed to win. Patrick brings V Super-man and U Lex Luthor (both from ICONS) to last sat's tourney and showed a clinic for how to play a team of only two figs. (yep.. the medic provides a distraction and the ALL-IMPORTANT outwit ability for Lex..). Anyone who gets smacked by supes would be either crippled or dead and either way.. it would render the opposing fig useless. Outwit makes supes bite harder and Lex provides the openning by either clearing the terrain or cleaning up the field. Patrick chooses the HSS path for his giants team and brings the LE jeanne marie to the board. 4th place was enough to get him 2.75 pts. (which gives him the lead over mark).

I love the TTs and have used them well.. I don't think they have a true brick in their team (with the exception of superboy and hawk) so I see this team going range combat all the way. Stealth is a gamebreaker for pure team and good trickshot candidates and handy HSS pieces effectively removes stealth from the field.. To an extent, can even be used to remove support powers like outwit, barrier, prob, perplex, support, tk, etc...

By being selected as a team faction for CTX, the x-men are truly a force to be reckoned with come CTX time. The x-men team is an already proven force that brings results. With so many options for 300 pts.. the X-men have a great chance to win it all through this advantage alone! Novablast and HSS abuse will make this team hard to put down and well quite frankly.. will intimidate most players!! But still.. team construction plays a key role in all teams and the x-men are not excempted. The x-men is probably the team that plays the closest to a regular constructed team and is definitely competitive.. watch out.. EX-men comin straight at you! gah!!!:eek:

Joining only 3 tournaments this month, spidermark has definitely lost some edge in his bid for a second POM. Now trailing by 10 points, he needs to win a big tournament either this wed or this sat with an attendance of at least 10. We're approaching the last week of september and players have the chance to play two more tournaments before this month ends. So we'll break down mark's brotherhood team that he used last sat.

The Brotherhood's bread and butter comes from the double-barrier strategy that ultimate thor used to enjoy in the same 300pt format. The centerpiece is none other than Magneto himself! Now for this strategy to work, we'll need running shot in order to position yourself after the barriers go down so we only have two magnetos for this job: the ultimate magneto 144pts and the House of M magneto at 187pts. Mark goes for the Ult magneto approach with a prob piece and E havok as the secondary attacker. Scarlet witch gains from destiny because of stealth and the 10range 2dmg potential. Stealth is money in a pure team battle because anti-stealth becomes a scarce resource. Although it wasn't noted, I believe inspiring command is THE feat for a Magneto squad. Zavier pointed out to me how gamebreaking this would be. The willpower works because of the lack of troops in general and simply because it's willpower (one of the best abilities in the game)! One note on the double-barrier teams! it plays like chess in slow motion.. yeah.. you get my point.. the constant barrier and its placement consumes a hell of a lot of time so pacing is very important if you want to beat a team like this.

The Team Captain for the JLA using the team to a great finish

Patrick takes a bow.. finally.. after holding the top spot for 6 weeks straight, he takes a dip to number 2. Patrick highlights the past week with his 4th place finish last wed using a JLA squad. He powered supes to two wins using the two aquamen as walking barriers and barrier breakers with unstoppable. The JLA super-man(CD) is tricky to use in 300 pts but is certainly playable. Outwit is an obvious weak point of hss centerpiece figs. But with invul as the mode of defense, there are other ways to hurt this fig. The easiest would be armor piercing since any fig can use this. Your goal as always is to knock big blue out of the movement power slots(same goal with mags..). Other cool options would be poison(with AP), psyblast, exploit weakness, EE(with AP), enchancement or perplex, and pulse wave(single target preferably). But you have to catch the boyscout in the act first.. easier said than done.

Our resident mutant has a shot for a second POM (previously patrick's distinction as the only player to score a POM twice). If you've been keeping track of ROAD to POM, you'll know that games played matters a lot in your final ranking. But for me, won't post players that haven't won a tournament yet and that is why Myke did not appear last week. But here he is in all his mutant glory piloting not 1 but two KC flash-lites to an impressive win. 18 def with deflection is horribly hard to hit. 18 def with super senses is potentially annoying if he makes the roll. Either way.. Imagine two KC flash-like figs running around the board taking a piece off your key figs every turn. Quite a nightmare I can assure you. For me, this strategy works because it knocks you off balance. This is the team that can bring down double barrier with relative ease. You see Magneto needs running shot to be effective and this team can take away those precious clicks in a turn or two. Nanobots for both of them increases survivability. So how do you beat this team without a BFC? remember that they are both GROUNDED which is the only reason they can never compete with KC flash mobility wise. Damage shield could work but may be too much of an investment to counter just one fig. Transportation and TK become very important here. Fight speed with mobility and positionning and take your shots if you see an openning then.. pray:) Congrats Myke for the well designed team and for the WIN.. and for being one week away from two POMs.. That is if patrick or mark let you have it for free;)

the batman enemies are a great team to field<period> Not a team to be underestimated and is easily DC's most competitive squad if used properly. This is the team that proves that running shot, charge and hypersonic speed is not the only way to win games. Stealth definitely helps and makes Joker into a demi-god with that untouchable mastermind in hindering terrain. There are other great strategies for this team and Javey certainly proved that you don't need a joker to be competitive. With Nicky, Javey, Elvin and Conrad aboard, they have the best players in terms of skill, reputation and experience. Definitely the current team to beat for DC.

with the exception of KC(andre) the bravest in the of the group i've seen so far, most brotherhood players will not leave their starting position and will most likely stay in a corner, thus a counter strategy of other players to this tactic is they will not also move and both will have a double lose hahaha

A great effort by nicky in a last ditch effort to grab some POM glory (and possibly that 2000 pesos posted by the godfather!). If more players played that day.. It would've been an upset situation for nicky to come out of nowhere to win POM this month. Batman Enemies always post great battlereports.. A true threat that will be difficult to deal with. It would really help if we knew thier teams but I am but a pawn to the system and stuff like this is really out of my control. Sorry for the short analysis on such a crucial preview for CTX. If its any consideration.. check the "who beat who" for that tourney. Yep.. almost everyone got a piece of each other! It only tells that the varied teams can win games! It will be a great match come CTX.. garaunteed!

yep meron nga cla pero, in my own opinion, msyado mhrap gmitin,like the certain 43 pt fig with 11 attck, u need to really invest to make him usable in the format,(43+ trickshot+protected+IcWo= 81 give or take..:cool: ).. napaka hrap mg invest sa fig na mdali lang kontrahin to render him useless (like basing the fig)...
thier hyper fig in fact is very usable...proper setting up and it would go a long way for sinister syndicte...

SuperP Adonis makes a splash in his comeback, taking NGG2 with firelord and mandarin as a 1-2 combo. Conrad's "newbie friendly" format looks good on paper and I've been hearing people talk about it till now so I guess it was really good(??):p Adonis goes oldschool, bringing out a standard STOPP team, without the perplex and support and double the "O";)......... and two T's:laugh: (I meant to write that some other way but I've been away so long I've forgoten what it was like to be vulgar..) Glenn makes a great run but I think the range advantage tends to spare the big hitters thus giving superP a lil advantage on pts. What gives the win a lil twist from the classic form is the absence of a healer. That firelord and mandarin pack mean firepower but is quite fragile if you punch through the highD.

Theme battle vs Constructed. That was good.. Only two guys used constructed teams and the themed ones endeared! The X-men make a statement (once again) of their themed team edge with Judge ecchs' triple perplex team. HSS+Nano proves to be one of the premiere Philclix combos around. This one is like LAMP ladies.. you either learn to use it or you learn to play around it. 3x the perplex made ecchs' buzzing 'moe into a fag with some serious ### whoopin to deal!(no offense meant to "avid" northstar fans;) ) The judges keep bringing all the noobs and vets alike to school this week. Ecchs' championship team also had to go through our POM runner-up Glenn. Galing mo ser!!!

Pimpdaddy dave grabs a quality win rolling over Arthur, Joel, Marco and Xandy! Dave showcases some swarm maneuvering in this oddly titled generic war format. I would say the most "exciting" match was between dave and xandy in a killer battle of electrifying numbness! Dave won out by around 5 pts? just goes to show the quality of exchanges these two gentleman had undergone that day (eeeehhh.. no they didn't exchange phone #'s.. at least not that I'm aware of:laugh: ) Talk about swarm over everything!!! I brought out eight pieces in a 400pt format and I was vastly outswarmed!!! ANDAMI LINTIK!!!!:nervous: Well done dave!

I plan to do this twice a month and try to examine the past two weeks and what to look forward to in the next two weeks. I was thinking maybe I could do two or three articles in two weeks.

Yes.. this is still a big.. well to some people maybe. Stringing together a good month is no easy task and I guess even in this trvial level.. the effort deserves recognition.

This is sort of the editorial portion.:classic: Purely opinionated but backed up by facts I assure you. I guess now would be a perfect time to discuss the upcoming big event, Clixmageddon.

Who set it up and What's the Deal?

Our good leader and benefactor Joel Atienza, has decided to put up another cash tourney to for us to showcase our skills and good will in our beloved game. Newbies and Vets alike get to gather together in a kind of clix orgy and get to know the community a bit better. I've participated in the last two and , man, G2 was packed! It was a hell of a weekend and people gave great feedback.

I have no idea why this clixmageddon had to be a bit more difficult to set up. All the ingredients remained the same but this one was a little different.

Minor quirks...

The format was met with mixed reactions. 300 or 400 or 500? Unrestricted or restricted? Open or pure universe? blah-di-blah... Everyone knows that clix always comes down to three basic elements. Force building, strategy and tactics, and of course (this IS a dice game...) LUCK. I don't see how the format affects any of the three so I guess any format is logically feasible.

Then comes the imbalances and abuses... yep.. all the dogs, red dudes with metal hats, crazy beach guys with camera and gun, green chicks with large floating eyeballs, everyone developing a strange fixation for consuming inorganic objects, disasters that alter game play, cardboard fixation, flying boyscouts, and the dead living again... It goes on and on and debate is quickly becoming a prerecorded dialogue.

And the endless continues!!!

Now the pods are prefilled thanks to one of our most significant achievements the clixmetric (tnx Dawg..) Whether or not you agree or disagree with the rankings.. You can't help but concede that it approximates one's actual achievement on the board. So whether it was luck, skill or cunning (euphimism:laugh: ) that got them on top, the fact is that that is what those players have achieved. So.. if the rankings are only a theoritical approximation of a player's skill then why should anyone be concerned? You shouldn't.. the rankings tell you one thing and that's who beats who the most. Any given day comes up with any given outcome. Simple, no?

Why does money complicate everything? Well.. if you must know.. Money is the single most powerful force on earth (yes.. it's not the sentry or superman..) Those fancy LE's.. they translate to money. So up for grabs is a very nice 5000 peso purse for the winner of clixmageddon 4. Also up is the title of clixmageddon 4 champ. There you have it.. money and prestige all in one event! People are already brooding about what to do to win...

No Problem Realy..

I see Joel's wisdom for the purse.. It motivates people. Like he said.. the guys who are successfull are the ones who are serious about what they do. That means they play to the best of their ability WITHIN the boundaries of the game. I don't see any problem if everyone played like this. This for me is the true spirit of competition. It is the honor of the struggle and not the outcome.

Everyone who can come better come... Else, You're gonna miss out on one of the premiere events that Heroclix Philippines has to offer. Everyone better play honorably. It's just a game really...

We have a huge hole in NG G2.. yep.. it's the crash site of DC's newest, greatest superhero! Gatx, the god of heroclix (DC), has decided to grace the earth with his supreme presence.. and what the hell! Win the biggest tourney this year.. I was shocked. No... everyone was shocked! We now have this year's premiere champ.. Gatx.. great job man!



Clixmageddon Aftermath.. the Real Story..

Everyone knows the real premise of Clixmag4.. DC vs Marvel.. The stage was 300 pts.. The top 8 featured only two marvel teams.. But the top 4 had those two teams there. The final match was a classic Marvel vs DC.. but was really just the same old KC-Flash-vs-everything-else! 3 KC flashes showed up. Two went on to the top 8. That same duo made the TOP 4.. And one of them eventually won..

Elimination: BFCs: Poor Teamwork, Bright Lights

Coincidentally.. Conrad's team had the same crew.. the ICwO though was with Jinx. Conrad packed an OD just in case of inertial interference field. What does this team tell us? Well it tells us that KC Flash is still a monster without Nanobots.. But what that this team REALLY tell us? No one prepared for KC flash. And if some people did.. not enough people brought the anti-flash. Simple Rock-Paper-Scissors..

Marvel Teams = Anti-flash?

Not necessarilly. Novablast won't work. And I doubt Hawkeye's trasnporter AV of 9 stands a chance against the red-guy-with-the-funky-hat.. The final battle told us that even if you hit the red thing with a nine to knock it down 3 clicks.. it's still a nightmare to play against. Marvel lack the team abilities that would neuter KC flash in this format. Mystics feedback and suicide squad. KC flash without outwit and nanobots become and Icons Flash. It is a big deal! Getting that one damage to knock him out of that monster 1st click could be the difference between winning and losing. The only thing Marvel has going for it is Vet Iron Fist, sinister syndicate, and Lockjaw. And the cardboard that could even up the game a bit like Inertial Interference Field, Ground Zero, and Extraordinary day.. So did marvel really stand that great a chance to knock out KC flash? It did.. If you hit nine's as often as Knyt does.:p

The Reusable Abuse

I hate to admit this but the people who came up with the format may have overlooked this gamebreaking stipulation. Poor Teamwork and KC flash spells an AUTOWIN. Most anti-flash teams rely on taxis to keep up with that 15 movespeed. Being able to use poor teamwork twice in the final round was a bit of an overkill. There are just combinations that are devastating in heroclix.. so in the battle of KC-Flash-vs-everything-else.. that Poor Teamwork cards looks an awful lot like Ninoy Aquino..

So have the gods stepped down from Olympus?

Gods are titles being given out as if its a rash these days. I wouldn't be surprised if Ecchs started calling himself the Indy gOD! (Don't ecchs please...:nervous: ) While Lord Recluse broods over his plans for Heroclix Philippines and The DC god Gatx keeps his own empire in check. There will always be middle ground.. We love different kinds of scenarios and these two judges are willing to cater those desires..;)

Anti KC Flash na Marvel? Check out the Battle Report at ATC the Saturday before the SAturday Clixmaggedon Event...

...this team i used to bring down the Fortitude KC Flash led Team then. The trick is to be aggressive - sacrifice the dog just to land some well placed blows. And kill Flash's support figs as he goes on a hit n run tactic...this will bring out the Big Red back aching for revenge.
...KC Flash without Protected, and Nanobots was a real challenge to use in that tourny.
...as Mikey said, no one expected with all those "restrictions" against the Red Menace that anyone would still be brave, crazy or cheesy? enuff to consider fielding this fig in the game considering how easily he can be taken down with just one lucky or well placed shot.
...but in the end it's still how you'd use these figs that will win you the game.

The venues aren't really getting that crowded this month.. Largest crowd was the in NG G2 with 10 participants, I think. So where have the players gone? ATC offered Kyle Rayner in Ecchs' Civil War format.. 8 people came.. What gives?

Marvel's Civil War draws to a close this week.. Heroclix Philippines held their own gauntlet of tournaments to decide the fate of the Marvel universe. Cap came out victorious in all those occassions.. But I doubt the comic is going to play out that way. The tag line, "who's side are you on?", has quickly become something relevant to us players today..

Civil War (Local)

Conflict has reached our shores as well. The realms have become a cesspool for conflict. Sometimes they seem to be intellectual. Other times though, just plain stupid. It seems some issues will NEVER be resolved. Asking "Whose side are you on?" around here may only solicit raised eyebrows and confused looks. So.... Is there a bad guy? Is he driving the players away?

I Want to Play!!!

There are less and less incentives left for players, both the regulars and the newcomers, to keep advocating the weekly tourneys. The judges have done spectacular jobs at trying to keep the LE prize support coming in. But the booster draft is becoming less and less enticing. No decent boosters left for us players. We'll have to eat through those remaining boosters to at least give Neutral Grounds an idea that there is still pretty good demand for clix in these parts. We really need help in that department.

Hypertime and Indy

The perpetually endless supply of these sets here are just mindboggling and disturbing. I thought I've seen enough Mutant Mayhem boosters opened in my short clix career. Not even Icons match to the number of unbought boosters that Hypertime and Indy have put up. We're enduring trying times right now..

Alternative Music

There are other ways to beef up a clix tourney prize support with help from the players. I've heard people suggesting an alternative prize system during the times we don't have the LE's for the event. Since the reg fee has dropped to one hundred per person, I guess people can auction up a LE, Unique or even bulk figs as extra incentives. But I don't really know how players will take this so I'll just keep it brief like that.

Alive and Kicking...

Good thing is, the players have really sacrificed something in one form or another to keep playing the game that we all love. I'd like to personally give a shoutout to everyone who has played despite the disparity in our booster drafts.. Special thank you's to the judges who keep our community alive!

There is HOPE!!!

Origins is coming out soon and this relative silence in the community is like the calm before the storm (everyone's saving up for Origins..). We desperately need new stuff!!

Well as a judge, the only thing I can advice players as of these trying times is that keep playing for the love of the game. There's still a lot of territories to explore, and I for one won't stop playing til I played all the figs I wanted to field.* The boxed plastic is just half of my motivation to play. As soon as I find time of course.

In the meantime, let's just hope that in the absence of boosters, the other prize kits arrive. And fall into the right hands, if you know what I mean. And yeah, I have 2 Lesters, one I'm putting on the line this wed and the other one soon. A little spark of inspiration for you guys.

Well, I noticed that during tourneys in G2 or Galleria, there are players who go there and hang out even if they don't join the tourney itself. And sometimes I hear players say that they can't join because of the entrance fee.. So why not remove the entrance fee and draft and play for the sake of playing (tska ranking!)? Maybe more players will join?

I know my argument has a lot of holes and I know we do the draft to support NG but I just wanted to say what I think. Basta ako maglalaro parin for the sake of improving my game! haha

I think what can help Harold's concern is more free play time - maybe structure one like a tourney if the players like it. I'm not suggesting this as a permanent thing, it's just that since everybody is stacking up for Origins (except maybe for Cool and GatX, hehe), we can try this as an alternative. Of course the regular tourneys will still be there.

Concerning this one...well, i hope you guys would be patient wtih the current set back we're now facing:
- "2nd Choiced" Boosters being drafted
- No/ or lesser LE's being handed out
- Retired Boosters being the only ones almost ever present at the games.
As of now wala tayong magagawa dito but to wait and hope...but lest assured your Judges are doing the best we can to remedy this situation..like:
- Donating personal LE's
- Lower Entrance Fees
- Better and Creative Venue Formats
- Following it up almost every other day at Wizkids and also with our bosses at Neutral Grounds speciafically Sir Freddy.

I'm cool, I think there was nothing "heated" in my post, just a little reminder and info to those who are still not aware of such. Naintindihan ko ung concern regarding late LEs left over selection of booster drafts etc etc. Just so happens NG had a slight problem with their shipping forwarder kaya nadelay ung mga stuff, concerning ung "sulit" ba ung bayad sa entrance fee.. well there are those who have limited budgets in playing and all but then again playing this game (and any other CMG/CCG) carries that little cash penalty. Some people will play for plastic rather than have a good time. We all have our definitions of "sulit" in terms of playing a certain game, pwedeng sulit dahil maganda ung LE at draft pieces or "sulit" kasi nakalaro na naman ako ng heroclix kahit wala ako nakuha... depende na sa tao un :)

We have a huge hole in NG G2.. yep.. it's the crash site of DC's newest, greatest superhero! Gatx, the god of heroclix (DC), has decided to grace the earth with his supreme presence.. and what the hell! Win the biggest tourney this year.. I was shocked. No... everyone was shocked! We now have this year's premiere champ.. Gatx.. great job man!



Clixmageddon Aftermath.. the Real Story..

Everyone knows the real premise of Clixmag4.. DC vs Marvel.. The stage was 300 pts.. The top 8 featured only two marvel teams.. But the top 4 had those two teams there. The final match was a classic Marvel vs DC.. but was really just the same old KC-Flash-vs-everything-else! 3 KC flashes showed up. Two went on to the top 8. That same duo made the TOP 4.. And one of them eventually won..

The Team

1st - MICHAEL L.
- U Flash (LGY) + ICWO, AP, Fortitude
- V Spoiler + ICWO
- E Jinx
- R Dr. Midnite
Elimination: BFCs: Poor Teamwork, Bright Lights

Coincidentally.. Conrad's team had the same crew.. the ICwO though was with Jinx. Conrad packed an OD just in case of inertial interference field. What does this team tell us? Well it tells us that KC Flash is still a monster without Nanobots.. But what that this team REALLY tell us? No one prepared for KC flash. And if some people did.. not enough people brought the anti-flash. Simple Rock-Paper-Scissors..

Marvel Teams = Anti-flash?

Not necessarilly. Novablast won't work. And I doubt Hawkeye's trasnporter AV of 9 stands a chance against the red-guy-with-the-funky-hat.. The final battle told us that even if you hit the red thing with a nine to knock it down 3 clicks.. it's still a nightmare to play against. Marvel lack the team abilities that would neuter KC flash in this format. Mystics feedback and suicide squad. KC flash without outwit and nanobots become and Icons Flash. It is a big deal! Getting that one damage to knock him out of that monster 1st click could be the difference between winning and losing. The only thing Marvel has going for it is Vet Iron Fist, sinister syndicate, and Lockjaw. And the cardboard that could even up the game a bit like Inertial Interference Field, Ground Zero, and Extraordinary day.. So did marvel really stand that great a chance to knock out KC flash? It did.. If you hit nine's as often as Knyt does.:p

The Reusable Abuse

I hate to admit this but the people who came up with the format may have overlooked this gamebreaking stipulation. Poor Teamwork and KC flash spells an AUTOWIN. Most anti-flash teams rely on taxis to keep up with that 15 movespeed. Being able to use poor teamwork twice in the final round was a bit of an overkill. There are just combinations that are devastating in heroclix.. so in the battle of KC-Flash-vs-everything-else.. that Poor Teamwork cards looks an awful lot like Ninoy Aquino..

So have the gods stepped down from Olympus?

Gods are titles being given out as if its a rash these days. I wouldn't be surprised if Ecchs started calling himself the Indy gOD! (Don't ecchs please...:nervous: ) While Lord Recluse broods over his plans for Heroclix Philippines and The DC god Gatx keeps his own empire in check. There will always be middle ground.. We love different kinds of scenarios and these two judges are willing to cater those desires..;)

I guess Cap has lost the will to fight.. On the bright side though, it appears realmers have also been docile these past few weeks. It's been quiet lately. The last event though was really fun. I've really had a blast with the comic book flavor of ATC.. Great teams with really interesting piece choices.. Great diversity. So for all you fanboys who would like to see your favorite team kick ### in the clix format, watch out for ATC's theme team format coming very soon..

The Themed Team Mechanic

Although we'll have to wait till June to get a hold of what's coming up for the next starter set, the new game mechanic looks really promising. I don't mean to hype it up too but hell themed teams really need a boost. I guess I'm expecting certain bonuses for themed teams ala the ATC format.

Origins and JSA

JSA is going to get a big boost when origins pops up with 18 d's and a potential 19 defense to share!(in the event that the posted stats for Jakeem Thunder is legit..) Hopefully we'll get our hands on it before the end of march!(or else you're the only ones who'll have fun with these cool new figs..:( )

for 42 pts, you get a decent 8 movement for pounce, a decent 9 AV and a massive five damage potential! The object of choice, the dumpster/generator.. fuel tank would be pretty nice too.. Best suited as the 3rd tier attacker and as a clean up piece..

Strategy

The dumpster works really well for this piece because of the two clicks of super strength that buys you TWO pounce attempts. Here's how you set up the double pounce.. (Lockjaw and TK piece for best results..;) )

Pick a nice juicy target preferably a fig with a 16 or lower defense. Then pounce at him diagonally like this and lay down the generator on the space the your pouncer occuppies:

Then protect the warrior with a well placed double based fig carrying around another threat like a grounded brick or a poison piece like this:

I've seen this piece played a lot and you guys should really give it a shot.. But why would you pay 2 more points for a lousy V Echo imitation?

- Leadership is perfect for the pt cost
- Shield TA (for themes and that seldomly used shield TA)
- an extra click of life

If the above reasons don't make sense for you then just use V echo. Make sure you protect this guy from range because that 15 D sucks..:laugh:

Yes the day that we thought would never come has arrived.. cap is DEAD!!! wel... that's what they said 'bout superman too!:speechles After seeing how "special" joe Q looks in the real world, I am tempted to say.. "Are you insane?!" But that stupid remark'll probably fall on deaf ears anyway and if they DID listen.. I'll get sued..:tired: for money that I'd make in a couple'a... LIFETIMES. With the media frenzy as incredible as it was with the sudden death of CAP, (and they gave cap's shield to some comedian...) Captain America #25 has been selling as much as the "death of superman books"(which should be aptly renamed.. "superman's three month leave") Hopefully the rebooted cap won't be killed as easily..

ZOMBIE C@P SIGHTINGS!!!

Finally some good news!!! We have a cool new clix game that's very reminiscent of our favorite superhero game and it has come to save us all! So are you sick of seeing that same old Hypertime booster that stinks of air three years old? Fear not my bretheren for HORRORCLIX will save the day! The sculpts are very good and the themes are interesting. The uniques are bloody awesome! Several of us has already begun constructing their own horrorclix teams. Personally, I'm really interested how players are going to develop strategies for that game and how those simple strategies turn into archetypes.

Too Much BLOOD...

Suffice to say, I've also noticed other players who are not into the whole horroclix thing at all. So I guess it's a comprimise for them to pay for something that they wouldn't like to draft. It really happens sometimes and it's more of an issue of majority. And it's safe to say that majority, if not everyone, consented to get horrorclix boosters for the draft. To everyone who made the comprimise.. thanks;) I'm also proud of those same people for not posting any sort of complaints or whatever.. shows you the level of respect we have for each other.

Strange Tales: the ORIGIN of....

Everyone is definitely psyched for this one! The ORIGINS marquee is coming this week! (assuming all goes well in neverland...) I can't wait to try out those cool new figs! (that most of us will probably never use again after the marquee...) A lot of teams are relying on this new set for reinforcements.. CSA, outsiders, JLA, JSA(lots'a 18 defs and a 19!!) and I guess a lot more. But the chase figures are terribly disappointing.. only because I know I'll NEVER get any of them.. After Origins hits, the thirst for better boosters will be quenched.. for now.

I don't want to be too objective but you have to let go of the TA first. Your favorite team need not have the same team symbol. Think of the TA's as utility and nothing more. Feat choices should not be limited and the team you construct must be able to perform in an 'ordinary day'. First you build the team (meaning you'll have to acquire the pieces..) then you write your battle report. Options are the way to go and you always play to your team's strength and get rid of the weaknesses. Then you determine which fig is your go-to guy so you'll know if you'll play swarm or tentpole. With this band of rebels, I'd say swarm is the way to go.

Looks better.. :p everyone has a decent chance to hit with 10's and 11's(with feats..) Teams like this need to slug it out quickly so don't hesitate to base your enemy at the first opportunity and unleash hell.:cool:

This is just one way to play it.. You can play your favorite team in many ways so you'll have to unlock their potential. How about using that R jewel and giving her the GL TA? or do an all wildcard team copying mystics via spider-woman and tbolts? If there are figs available then there is a way to play them..

Suffice to say, I've also noticed other players who are not into the whole horroclix thing at all. So I guess it's a comprimise for them to pay for something that they wouldn't like to draft. It really happens sometimes and it's more of an issue of majority. And it's safe to say that majority, if not everyone, consented to get horrorclix boosters for the draft. To everyone who made the comprimise.. thanks;) I'm also proud of those same people for not posting any sort of complaints or whatever.. shows you the level of respect we have for each other.

It takes a lot of willpower to NOT buy this awesome looking game. While I want to start building a team of vamps, lycanthropes and robots (from The Lab!!!:knockedou) myself, the thought of these figs ending up as mere decorations for my office after a month or two, right next to my old Mage Knight: Dungeons figs is keeping my wallet in check. But still... the U Athena from The Lab looks really cool...

But the chase figures are terribly disappointing.. only because I know I'll NEVER get any of them..

I totally agree with you here. I'm not lucky in getting these kinds of figs from boosters, and I certainly can't afford the prices a player would offer if ever someone actually wanted to sell one.
