View Full Version : Which new MARVEL set theme would you prefer?
While running the MARVEL PEOPLE'S CHAMP independent poll over in the ORIGINAL CONTENT forum, certain trends have appeared, indicating that various 'themes' might be more popular than others, for future Heroclix sets.
I posted a brief mention in the DREAMS & DESIRES forum and several people have latched onto the suggestion.
I thought it might be interesting to have a quick poll, listing a few choice 'themes' to see exactly which are the most-wanted. You never know - Wizkids MIGHT be watching.
There is no hidden personal agenda in listing these themes, I've tried to include themes that would allow Wizkids to include the majority of people's 'wants' from the PEOPLE'S CHAMP ongoing poll.
To this end, the suggested themes to be voted-for comprise:
01) Midnight Sons
A 'Horror' themed set featuring the likes of Morbius, Son of Satan, Dracula, etc.
02) Age of Apocalypse
AoA versions of the X-Men and their foes.
03) Golden Age (WWII era)
Classic WWII heroes and villains.
04) Earth X
Earth X versions of marvel heroes.
05) Young Guns
New/recent characters such as Young Avengers, X-Statix, Runaways, New X-Men, etc.
06) Ultimates II
Second set of predominantly 'Ultimate' versions.
07) M2 Universe
Characters from the future M2 reality (eg Spider-Girl)
08) Marvel Deities
'God' set based on the various Marvel pantheons (Asgardians, Olympians, Eternals, etc).
09) Mutant Massacre
X-Men themes set based around the popular storyline.
10) Contest of Champions
Heroes of the world.
11) Other
Anyway - hope the suggestion meets with yoru approval. No hard feelings if it doesn't.
Thanks for reading -
StellarX
I'd love to see sets of Runaways or Young Avengers, but "Young Guns" is too vague and I'd hate to see a mish-mash of characters from various series in one set (unless it was an uber set with several complete teams in it). . . so AoA.

Well, they've already released a *few* of the Marauders (Arclight, Harpoon, Vertigo, and Sabretooth, at last check?), as well as Callisto and some Morlocks, as well as the majority of the X-men and New Mutants who were around at the time, so a Mutant Massacre set is unlikely. :( So that really leaves the WW2 figures (a set of cheap-costing heroes with solid powers, perhaps? maybe a better WW2 Captain America and a Bucky piece?) or the Age of Apocalypse, which could be really neat.
Personally, I'd just like to see them throw in the Warriors Three, Balder, Sif, Eric Masterson as Thor or Thunderstrike, and maybe Odin, Dargo, and Bloodaxe--you know, some desperately needed Thor stuff.

oh craypola. can i change my vote to M2? call me the minority, but i would love to see an M2 set with the likes of A-Next, Spider-Girl, and the multitude of Villains and various other heroes around. Mutant Massacre, so we can finish the Marauders!
I actually voted "Other".
I like the themes of Collateral Damage and Sinister. I don't like themes centered around a specific group like X-men.
The Midnight Sons idea is unique but a whole set???
A WWII them sounds interesting but who would be in it? Captain America and Army men?
Earth X - too different for me.
The bad part is I really don't have a better suggestion.

Young Guns.
I think getting characters like Runaways, Young Avengers, Power Pack, New X-Men (with the long drooled over X23), etc. might just force me to buy my first Marvel case, and just might bring some younger players in... like WK wants to do.
Runaways or Midnight Sons would make great Collector's Sets.

Oh please give me the Midnight Sons. Or at least them as a collector's set (maybe to co-incide with the release of the Ghost Rider movie). It could also allow the introduction of the Mystics team ability to Marvel Heroclix
Ghost Rider (Dan Ketch) done right without Smoke Cloud
Johnny Blaze with the Hellfire shotgun
Vengeance
Dr. Strange (could be the darker masked version)
A more powerful Blade
Morbius
Hannibal King
Frank Drake
Pogs of the Darkhold Redeemers
Mordred the Sorceror
Werewolf at Night
Jennifer Kale
Daimon Hellstrom
Devil-Slayer
(Even characters like Man-Thing, Scarlet Witch, and Agatha Harkness had Midnight Sons storylines)
Then onto Villians:
Dracula
Deacon Frost
Lillith
Blackout
Zarathos
Demogoblin
Scarecrow
Centurious
Deathwatch
Black Heart
Mephisto
I know some of these are re-makes but I'm just a huge fan of the Midnight Sons.
Sign me up for a Hulk themed set as well. The others just didn't grab me as a theme for an entire set.
What would get me Omega Red, Maverick and Cyber?
I would like something along the lines of World Forces (something along those lines)
Could have reps from various countries i.e.
New Black Panther
Sabra
Maverick
Omega Red
Tyger Tyger
Union Jack
US Agent
Manta Ray
New Vindicator (yellow and green)
Big Hero Six ;) (j/k)

that's my take... but i'm sure they're set for the next year already anyway...

I do like the young guns idea but i dont think that an entire set based around teams like the young avengers and the x statix would sell particularly well. There just isnt a huge fan base for the smaller newer groups like that. Although I am a huge X-Statix fan and it would be pretty sweet to see some characters splashed in. A character like phat who goes from normal size at rookie to being all phatted up at vet and then you could have venus dee or u-go-girl with the transporter ability and phasing, anarchist for some range, vivisector with his blades claws, dead girl with regen... I dont suggest them as a special set like danger room because they wouldnt be overally popular but if they were splased in the set and then you made an " X statix" card similar to the t bolts card that would be really sweet for all us fans

I picked 'Other', choosing a Hulk-themed set. The set would also have a mix of Avengers and such besides just the Hulk-related figs (Green Hulk, Joe Fixit, Maestro, Devil Hulk, Doc Samson, Abomination, Leader, Tyrannus, Zzzax, Glob, and similar mindless brute monsters, Army/Hulkbuster generics).
Don't care for MC2 or AoA, Golden Age or Midnight Sons is a possiblity though.

09) Mutant Massacre

10) Contest of Champions
Heroes of the world.
11) Other
I voted........
AOA
to the runners-up
A Midnight Sons -While I want a Vengeance and Morbius, too many of the other "big guns" Blade, JB Ghost Rider, DK Ghost Rider and poss Mephisto have been done will be released
C Gold/ WWII heroes I like 'em not sure there's enought to drive a set, Marvel from the Slingers is dead, Angel's a villian, V-Battalion hung up their tights, etc.
D Earth X -really these are just reinterpretations of characters that we (mostly) have; pass I'll take some other charactes first
E Young Heroes -not these though, can't stand Young Avengers, Runaways or the "New Mutants/New X-Men"
F Ultimates -fill out the team please, but is there enough for a set?
G MC2 -Never a fan of Spider-Girl, but the rest as a collector's set would be wonderful
H "Deities" to the extent that the 300 point build is the mindset, who can be done right, no pass I don't need a 165 point Zeus or Osiris
I Massacre -yes for Morlocks and Marauders however they've been in regular assortments lets keep that going
J CoChampions -love the characters who've showed up more than once (Defensor anyone), but mostly these are the non-A-listers that should take up the common slot.
Other for me.
There's nothing wrong with any of the choices, I want clix from each of the groups, but as none really grab me as being perfect for an entire set theme. I thought I'd register my vote as "other". I do like the suggestion of a hulk themed set though......and Midnight Sons would be my most wanted catagory...but a whole set at once might be a bit too restricted.
If anyone from wizkids does read the poll, I hope they don't take low numbers of votes for any of the themes as indicating a lack of interest in them and they recognise that ALL clix are wanted by someone and most of us are very happy with every unmade character we get.

I love the Young Guns idea, because that's who I mainly follow in comics. Though ideally, it'd be best if it was mixed with some of the young heres' predecesors, and Wizkids could call the set "Generations".
But that's just me. :)
I went with Earth X.
Nothing else even came remotely to interesting me.

I voted for the Golden Era. I know I'm in the minority because most people want what is current, but I like the nostalgia of the old comics. Marvel Dieites I would love but I'm not sure they could do them justice (but imagine if most figs in the set were 125+ pts, with generics like Minions of Set and Asgardian Warriors!). I know the Xmen are Marvel's bread and butter, but I get tired of so much Xmen stuff. If anything I would enjoy a set called Alternates (or as I suggested a few months ago- WHAT IF) where they could place a number of different themes, primarily coming from alternate universes/timelines

07/25/2006, 20:54
I voted "other". I want a Deathurge so bad, but a GLA collectors set is the only way I see this happening. Sticking with seven characters per set, I'd like:
1) Mr. Immortal
2) Squirrel Girl
3) Flatman
4) Big Birtha
5) Doorman
6) Maelstrom
7) Deathurge

Very tough decision, but I voted Golden Age. My need for a Jim Hammond Human Torch a new Red Skull takes priority over everything else. I'd happily mix in Invaders characters (Union Jack, Master Man), and retcons (Baron Helmut Zemo, 3d Man).
Midnight Sons:
- Very tempting, potentially tied for first place. Dracula is a major priority for me. Johnny Blaze could be cool, and Scarecrow is one of the more interesting villains that no one knows about.
Age of Apocalypse:
- Ugh... I wish you people voting for this would leave the X-universe for 5 minutes and try reading something else for a change...
Earth X:
- This wouldn't sell an expansion, but there are some great play pieces in here for a collector's set. A Celestial-fighting Black Bolt would be a 300 point monster. The Hydra collective would be a very pretty piece too.
Young Guns:
- In all of echopryme's list, there's not one piece in there that I wouldn't regret pulling.
Ultimates II:
- No interest.
M2 Universe:
- Spider-Girl, and? Don't say J2 or I'll slap you, seriously.
Marvel Deities:
- plenty of fun stuff, but a lot of them would be off the scale. The Warriors Three, Lady Sif, Ikaris, fine, they work. Some of the mid-level gods like Grandmaster, the In-Betweener, or Surtur could fit on a 12 click dial if they cost upwards of 400 points, but what about Mistress Death, Odin, or Hera?
Mutant Massacre:
- Unlikely, Wizkids already dumped the Morlock TA so no Sunder, Morlock Healer, Ape, and all the rest of them. The big names would be remakes, and most of them don't even need it. We're missing Prism, Scalphunter, Scrambler, Riptide, Blockbuster, and stretching it, armored Thor. Mister Sinister could use a remake, but the rest are fine the way they are.
Contest of Champions:
- Before Alpha Flight, maybe, but now, there isn't a need for it. Sabra could be interesting, but Vanguard, Darkstar, and Arabian Knight are the best of the rest, and that's already scary.
Hulk-themed:
- I love that idea, but if anyone says that Zzzax is too lame, and they'd rather have Bruce Jones' psychic Absorbing Man, I'm getting off the bandwagon!

Bah. I voted "other" as well. These themes don't really fit a set.
I am all over the Hulk set though.
Or a set based on the 80s Marvel Comics!
Featuring Dazzler, remaining members of Alpha Flight and original New Mutants, Power Pack, the missing Secret Wars people and remakes of some of the more worthy characters involved, maybe remakes of characters that made up Excalibur. Hi Everyone - thanks for supporting the poll.
Just to clarify the suggested 'theme' concept, past sets have had a theme/title that has had a major impact on the content of the set, but this hasn't precluded the inclusion of other characters not necessarily associated with the main theme concerned.
For example, the ULTIMATES expansion included 616 versions, and ULTIMATE characters have appeared in sets other than just the ULTIMATES set.
What I trying to say is that I don't think any future set will be comprised entirely of characters related to the overall theme. So you could have a MIDNIGHT SONS expansion that includes predominantly 'horror' characters - but still fields a healthy spread of normal characters such as HULK, etc.
The idea of this poll is to get a feel for which themes are more popular. So far results match the polling in the PEOPLES CHAMP thread - AoA, even as a ten-year-old storyline, has a VERY strong following.
Someone posted earlier that "X-Men fans" always win polls. Well if this is true then it's an indication that there are just more of them voting, which is still a fair reflection of the overall voting public's opinion.
Personally, I voted for M2 UNIVERSE as I'd live to see a bunch of A-Next heroes and villains, but I'd be happy with any of the suggested themes - even the recurring 'OTHER' HULK-themed set! :)
Just stimulating debate and hoping Wizkids are reading/listening!
ATB - StellarX

I liked the Champions too. :knockedou we really only need Darkstar all the others are already in clix form.
I voted Champions too. I think it would be cool to see some of the heroes from Contest of Champions. At least they'd all be new characters. Include the Soviet Super Soldiers in that set as well. ;) I think Darkstar was in both.

Although I would LOVE a Champions set also. Except for Ghost Rider. :)
I actually voted Ultimates II, just because so much has changed in the Ultimates title in the six issues that have come out since the first set came out (OK, it's probably been more than six, but not much...). We could get the Black Widow in her armor, all of the anti-Ultimates, Wasp, Quicksilver, Giant man and Iron man generics, Sam Wilson. Plus I'm sure there's been some more cool stuff in the other Ultimates titles that I don't read...which is all of em.

I voted Midnight Sons because that's a section of the Marvel Universe that's SORELY lacking in Heroclix. I still can't believe we don't have a Morbius yet. Plus we can get a new Punisher to make up for the retired on in Ultimates. It's not like the ENTIRE set has to be specifically mystical in nature. Although they could make that crazy angel Punisher who pulled weapons out of his magic coat. And there seriously needs to be a new Dormammu. And I really want a Johnny Blaze with hellfire shotgun. Wouldn't mind a Clea either. And Hannibal King and Frank Drake to go with Blade for the Nightstalkers.
Lots of the other decisions would make cool collectors sets but not regular expansions. Have the Runaways/New X-Men been around long enough to warrant REVs? Not to mention all the M2 stuff. Anyone other than Spider-Girl deserves an REV? Earth X is best left as a collector's set or high powered Uniques in other expansions (see Kingdom Come Uniques).
AoA is in the same boat as Earth X unless you just want to make AoA versions of EVERYONE which isn't really necessary. If we get AoA AND Ultimate Dazzler before regular 616 Dazzler I won't be very happy. And do we really need AoA Sinster, Jean Grey, Sunfire, Iceman, Rogue, Gambit, Cyclops, etc.? Really? Other than a few key figures (Magneto, Apocalypse, X-Men, Holocaust, Weapon X, maybe Rogue, Sabretooth for Exiles, and Sunfire) we don't really need the majority of characters that came from AoA. Ultimates? Feh. But that's just my opinion. Just bugs me that we can have an expansion of figures that aren't the original 616 version. I don't mind when they drop in Uniques here and there (see Ultimate Nick Fury) but not the majority of an expansion.
Mutant Massacre? Well besides everyone complaining about "Oh no! Not more mutants!" what would that give us besides the rest of the Marauders and a bunch of Morlocks no one would probably use? Deities would be cool but it would have to be pretty spread out in order to get some recognition for folks who wouldn't know most of the set. Don't want another Critical Mass. But some more Asgardians and a new Hercules along with maybe Gilgamesh would be welcome.
Golden Age is very tempting as well but once again we get into the "how would the REVs work" problem for a lot of them.

I put my vote in for AoA, just for the sake of some alternate team versions of characters like Sabertooth and Magneto that otherwise might never get made, ideally, it would be a collector's set. Unlike what others have suggested, the AoA storyline was about more than mutants.
Is this any more redundant than DC's "alien" end-all background? For fans of the X-Men, we still need a new Gambit, Jubilee (finally), and most of the roster has been retired, such as Iceman and Sabretooth.
I would rather see popular characters remade from a time I remember than a long list of has-beens and "never heard ofs" from 50+ year old back issues. Although Midnight Suns would have gotten my vote if combined with Marvel Knights.

I voted Other, mainly cause I don't want to see Marvel or DC collector sets. I loved the 2099 stories and will love getting who we get...BUT! I would rather have had Grendel or Astro City, because there is little to no chance of getting them in a regular set like we could of 2099. 2099 has a high likelihood of being in a regular Marvel set, same with the GL's and a DC set...

I voted Golden Age. Give me a decent Red Skull (the current one is okay for the points I guess, but recipient of the Nazi Super Soldier Serum he ain't...he should be closer to the last Captain America, sans shield and with gun...). And a Union Jack would be real nice!
I'd really rather see one of the following though:
a) More classic villains (predominantly MOE) - Living Laser, Melter, Black Knight I, Grim Reaper, Whiplash, Goliath in original costume, Baron Zemo I, Tiger Shark, those sorts of folks. And a Harry Leland and Sage to complete my Hellfire Club wouldn't be out of place either. ;)
b) A 'Galactic' expansion, featuring at least a half-dozen members of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, the Guardians of the Galaxy that are going to be left out of Supernova, and more Inhumans! Maybe even throw in Air-Walker and a new Firelord.

Fair enough, but this poll is for a Marvel set theme, not for a Collector's set theme. In other words, the theme of a new Marvel expansion.

Well, I voted for Midnight Sons. However, I'm pretty sure that the next Marvel set (after SN), will be AoA (or at least X-men themed). If you do like the Midnight Sons, check out my signiture. My brother and I are working on such a set, and I think we're really coming up with some nice, accurate dials (though I've not posted these yet). I particularly like my brother's Ketch Ghost Rider -- that V is darn near perfect).
Much as I'd love to see more of the Mutant Massacre (Scalphunter! A new, good Sabretooth!) we have a *lot* of Ultimates ground to cover, plenty more that deserves to show up in HC.

More Ultimates figures are needed, with a close second of Young Guns so long as the Young Avengers and Runaways are heavily factored in to it.

Well heck, this is the first time I've ever had to look at the descriptions of the items to figure out what a poll on the Realms was about... ;)
I bypassed Champions because I figured all but one of them had been made. If I'd known it wasn't the Champions team, I might have voted differently...
But maybe not...of those choices, Golden Age is probably my top choice. Though there are a few other themes I think I'd prefer before any of the choices in this poll (I listed two, but there are others as well).

Mr. Sinister was terrible; Apocalypse was WORSE and I still don't have ANYONE to put on a theme team with him! Just give me the flight stand base, pretty please mr wizkids? (although: when the hell did Apocalypse ever fly in the first place? He's kind of a...big boneded fella and I don't think an absurdly large man with a big @ss personalized belt buckle hurtling through the air inspires quite the degree of quiet menace he was aiming for).
Plus an X-Man to round out the "Hilariously Overly Bloated Summers Family Tree" team (come on, Stryfe!) and a Dark Beast to play with Marrow, Callisto, and that weird melty morlock guy! Oh! And a Mikhail! AND A CALIBAN!
The pants! They are getting the tighter!

I voted OTHER but AOA is probably the strongest to THEME a set.
It is the sub-themes (or set threads) that interest me. Alpha Flight, Thunderbolts, the New Mutants and Excalibur all have strong choices (stronger than the Defenders after forvever) for cool themed teams. The Inhumans (or with DC, the Fatal Five or Flash enemies) can even be pulled together.
A lot of the choices listed would make great Collector Sets which could be aided by the odd REV or Unique, as things seems to have been going (U Spider-Man 2099, U Orphan or the Green Lanterns for instance) and there is always the little thread that might get boosted by a set (some assistance for Blink and E Sasquatch?) that loosely fits into a "broader" Theme, like filling out the Thunderbolts in "Sinister" (maybe Baron Zemo should have been a U there...).
A set theme...??? After "Sinister" ended up being a great place for heroic types (Black Bolt, Sym-Spidey, Nick Fury & Shield agents, Jessica J/Jewel, Daredevil, Nighthawk and Valkyrie to the Falcon, Madrox & co, Mockingbird, Ka-zar, Meggan, Wolvie, Shadowcat, Forge, Photon/Pulsar and a range of Thunderbolts) a broad interpretation of set "theme" seems the safest SET route beyond the specific limited and more "complete" nature of the "themed" Collector Sets.

Mutant Massacre, Not only for the contenuation of the Morlocks (Sorry Callisto and generaric morlocks, aren't enough), and if I recall correctly the hellfire club and the Brotherhood had their own things goning on with that... (yeah, I can't spell, sorry..)
How about a 2099 set?
2099 is already getting a collector's set, and, uh, it really wasn't that popular to begin with. IMHO.

I voted for AoA... although I'm just looking for a mutant based set next either way... to get some better versions of old favorites, some of the new X-peeps, and a chance to fill out some missing team members
Remakes:
Apocalypse
Blob
Toad
Pyro
Gambit
Avalanche
New X-Peeps (and older characters yet made):
Jubilee
Chamber
M
Husk
Skin
Penance
Caliban
Hellion
Dust
Rockslide
Mercury
Surge
Elixir
X-23 (yah, even her)
Horsemen of Apocalypse (the original ones, not all the lame followers)
Empath
Vulcan
Darwin
X-Statix
Mastermind
some of the cooler Acolytes
(just to name a few)
Filling out Teams:
Sunspot
Strong Guy
Rictor
Feral
just saying, its prolly close to the cycle of X-theme
(for the record, I generally vote Indy on Collectors Sets... but should a Horsemen of Apocalypse Collectors Set that includes a Giant Apocalypse with Double-Based original Horsemen - War, Famine, Pestilence - and a Death version of Angel come to be... I'll vote so fast the internet will shudder from the abruptness)

I really don't care which set wins it, except Ultimates. For the love of Pete, PLEASE don't let that carp become the central theme for yet ANOTHER set. Ugh.
My favorites? Midnight Sons and AoA followed by deities I guess. Hulk theme sounds kinda interesting as well, and I'd be all over that bandwagon if we didn't already have over 10 different versions of the Hulk floating around from previous sets. If it finally got us a Maestro, it might be worth it though.

AOA was my vote.....remember that it wasn't ONLY an alternate reality as various characters "passed over" to the Marvel 616 dimension:
1. X-Man (wicked character who had his own title for years, my personal #1 want in Heroclicks!!!)
2. SugerMan (Just imagine his sculp,........a potential masterpiece!)
3. Dark Beast (Mwah ha ha hahaha...)
4. Holocaust (I like the translucent idea.........)
While I'm aware that the AOA characters haven't had enough exposure to warrent a REV treatment, the above charaters could be Uniques for a new X-based set. Yeah, yeah, I know we have mutants coming out of our ears, but even still, I collect virtually everything Marvel (& DC) and when I look at my list of new Heroclix wants the majority are still X-related.
We still need:

SuperSabre
Crimson Commando
Omega Red
Maverick
Legion

Although I think many of the alternatives were great I ended up voting Ultimates 2. In the original Ultimates set 16 of 40 were Ultimate versions of heroes/villains, so there would still be room for lots of other themes and characters.
And there are many Ultimate clix we still need:
Falcon
Captain Mar-Vell
Wasp
Quicksilver
Shadowcat
Nightcrawler
Carnage
Moon Knight
Elektra (please don't kill me for saying it)

Obviously, I would have voted "Young Guns." The Runaways in particular have 38 issues of continuity to build REV sets from. And those Young Avengers collectors sets of action figures are GONE in my area while the "Marvel Horror" set gets marked down for speedy sale.

You guys should check out the mods emperorshotz made in the artisan's section. they're beautiful and exactly the kind of thing i'd like to see done in future expansions:
linky-link goodness. (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2172505#post2172505)
I voted other. Why? Because I like throwing my vote away...
...I'm looking at you, John Kerry.
Anyway, I'd like to see an "Amalgam" set.
Yeah, the mixture that happened during the 7th grade popularity contest known as DC versus Marvel.
Sure the story was trash and the battles were as accurate as using the bathroom without aiming when the seat's down...but I'd like to see some of the combinations none the less.

Definatly AoA cause there has to be a better apoclypse and more horesmen anyway.

I would be such a happy camper if a Golden Age of Marvel set were made.

First of all, thanks to everyone who participated in this poll, and for all your interesting comments.
It was extremely difficult to come up with a finite list of set "themes" to please everybody, but the themes listed in this poll were largely a reflection of how the voting has gone (so far) in the " Marvel Peoples' Champ" thread.
So, no big surprise then, that the AGE OF APOCALYPSE was somewhat of a runaway winner, polling 321 votes (three times its closest rival). There is a massive mutant fan base out there which has long been lobbying for an AoA-themed set. This is pretty remarkable when you consider the storyline is about a decade old and most X-men already appear in Clix form in at least one incarnation.
While it can be disheartening to those of us who voted for another theme (hey - I voted for the M2 Universe - look how modestly that theme fared!) - it's a fair reflection of popular opinion, and also a likely indication of the fact that an AoA themed set would sell handsomely.
Hopefully Wizkids will be watching/reading/listening to opinion. Remember this poll was not for a "Collector's Set" but for a whole set/expansion. That being the case, bearing in mind recent trends, an AoA themed set would not necessarily preclude appearances by characters outwith the AoA Universe (witness HoM and Ult characters appearing in recent sets), as Wizkids don't want to alienate players/collectors by making sets too theme-specific.
So, it didn't take a crystal ball to predict the outcome - but what of the rest? If we remove AoA from the picture, what are we left with?
124 Votes (13.29%) Ultimates II
102 Votes (10.93%) Midnight Sons
81 Votes (8.68%) Golden Age/WWII
59 Votes (6.32%) Other
58 Votes (6.22%) Earth X
50 Votes (5.36%) Mutant Massacre
47 Votes (5.04%) Contest of Champions
45 Votes (4.82%) Marvel Deities
24 Votes (2.57%) Young Guns
22 Votes (2.36%) M2
I was surprised to see how strongly a second Ultimate-themed set polled, given how many Ultimate characters have already been made into clix form - but again, the figures don't lie.
Also - strong polling for a horror-themed (Midnight Sons) set - with characters like MORBIUS riding high in the Peoples' Champ poll. Surely it can only be a matter of time?
Opinion on the other theme suggestions seems pretty split - but hopefully these can find at least some partial representation in future sets. It was also surprising that in the grand scheme of things a retro "Golden Age" set polled nearly 4 times what the proposed "Young Guns" (new/recent characters) set polled. Does this indicate that (like yours truly) a big proportion of clix players/collectors are of more senior years?
A final mention for the decent poll of the "Other" category. Most people suggested a Hulk/Gamma themed set - a set which I, for one, would happily pay for.
However you voted, hopefully you enjoyed the debate in the thread and
had some fun. I sincerely hope that your own most-wanted figures make it into clix form soon.
Best wishes to everyone -

Does it matter much what theme the Marvel sets are? Experience shows that, whatever the theme, the set will be at least 40-50% X-Men characters.

I would really like to see a Midnight Sons, since Dan Ketch Ghost Rider is my favourite comics character. I really loved the story, and think a Spirits Of Vengeance TA could be excellent.

I'd quite like to see an Amalgum set, including having Arch Enemies for the characters that fought each other (Hulk & Superman, Spiderman & Superboy, Batman and Capt. America) etc. as well as a Unique of Wonder Woman with Thors Hammer.
(p.s. I know it's a Mavel thread, but it was a Marvel crossover.....)

You're thinking of DC vs Marvel. Amalgam was another beast entirely.

Wasn't the Amalgam universe the Result of DC vs Marvel?
I would go check, but all my Graphic Novels are boxed up ready for us to move... :(
I guess what I mean is having the characters from DC vs Marvel as arch-enemies as well as the new characters Like Speed Demon, Dark Claw, Super Soldier etc. as part of the set.

Well, I think an Amalgam set would be sweet! I've actually done customs of a few; Super-Soldier, Iron Lantern, Amazon. Wouldn't mind seeing WK's versions of these and other Amalgams!
