DC Division Week 6 Preview:
It’s Week 6 and the regular season is going out with a bang! Every single one of these games could potentially have playoff ramifications, as 11 teams scrap for the remaining 4 (or will it be 5?) playoff spots. So without further ado, here are this week’s games.
Judges (2-3) vs The Society (1-4)
It’s a battle of the sneers between Dr. Light and Dredd. The Society find themselves playing spoiler against the surging Judges, who must win this (and decisively) to have a chance to make the playoffs. Despite their struggles, I’m still convinced that the Society have the base for a strong, contending team, something I didn’t think could have been said for the Judges. Yet, the latter took down Tenk’s Young Justice, and they’ve got ample motivation to do the same here.
My pick? Lex is taking a break from this one, so no chance for him to hide into soaring if the Society take an early lead. However, look for Professor Zoom to work on “improving” the Judge’s finesse pieces before they can take down too much of his teammates. The Society get the last laugh and strike a pose.
Teen Titans (3-2) vs JLE (1-4)
While this is more of a “would like to win” than a “must win” for the Titans, they could find themselves out of the playoff hunt if the JLE beat them badly.
If I can’t say anything nice, I’ll just move to…
My pick? The Titans enter the playoffs, but not before Peers gets off some nice story posting. :nervous:
BRPD (1-4) vs Outsiders (4-1)
Really only one thing that matters for this game: Will Iceman show up? If I’m Chiles, I’m checking the other play-by-post leagues a lot during the next two weeks, while Turtle gives the Outsiders as much a chance as legally possible to claim their playoff reward. But that third week? Whether it be the manager or a designated sub, there’s going to be a lot of catch-up to be done, even if it’s only to gain some stats.
My pick? All I’m saying is, watch out for Dustin Hoffman and glass walls in churches. As for the game itself? Look for the BPRD to counter the Outsiders’ team stealth with a bit of help from the Kabuki girls. Hellboy and co. in an upset.
Injustice League (2-3) vs Young Justice (4-1)
Pity the Injustice League (but don’t tell them about it, lest Despero get all indignant and murderous in your grill). Not only do they suffer some of the most frustrating dice rolls a team could hope to see, but now, in order to make good on their slim playoff hopes, they get to face Young Justice. See, of the 11 teams in the DC Division that could finish 3-3, the IJL is ranked 9th. They need to win this game big in order to leapfrog to the playoff seats. Pre-Buster-Douglas Mike Tyson big. And Young Justice? Think of them as the consummate skills boxer: they’re not going to win a lot by KO, but if they can last to the judge’s table, you’re likely out of luck.
My pick? Young Justice eeks out on points again.
Sentinels Of Magic (4-1) vs Dark Judges (2-3)
The Dark Judges are in similar shoes to the IJL. Only they’re 10th out of 11 potential 3-3 teams. And they’re facing a team that has won their last couple of games by large margins. The Dark Judges showcased a swarm team last round, hoping to overwhelm the JSA. Whatever method they try, they’ll need a lot of points to slip into the playoffs.
My pick? The Sentinels aid the Dark Judges in their quest to get top draft pick for evil-aligned Indy teams, whatever that’s worth.
Legion Of Super Heroes (5-0) vs Green Lantern Corp (2-3)
And we come to team number 11. Out of 11 potential 3-3 teams. And they get to face the toughest of the bunch thus far: the undefeated Legionnaires. Sorry, Orko, I’m just not seeing it, short of the LoSH calling a no-contest to prevent any injuries as they enter the playoffs.
My pick? 6-0 for the Legion as they cruise into the playoffs, looking for some unsuspecting 3-3 team to beat up.
Games of the Week:
Yep, we’ve got three of ‘em. Because every single one of them is a must-win or must-not-lose-badly, in the case of the 3-2 squads.
Batman Enemies (3-2) vs Secret 6 (2-3)
On one hand, you’ve got a returning team from last season that took down Galactus, a dangerous theme team with a skilled player, and its lead figure: Joker, got injured last match. On the other hand, you’ve got the scrappy upstarts (which is also nicely thematic), who have fought hard in every match they’ve been in, giving trouble to the IJL, LoSH, and JLI, and defeated the Judges and the Society. (Thawmus may want to consider giving his team an acronym, considering that history). If there’s one thing on the Rogues Gallery’s side, they’re facing a team with almost as little mobility as they have. This one’s going to be a down and dirty brawl.
My pick? Much as I’ve been impressed by the 6’s showing this season, their games don’t tend to result in 700-100 victory margins. They’ll have to be aggressive to pull this one off, and between the Radiation Leak BFC and Clayface doing everything he can to keep them tied down, I don’t see it happening. Batman Enemies.
JLI (2-3) vs JLA (3-2)
To give you an idea of how much this league has changed in one season, these two squads were the class of the DC Division last year, going a combined 11-1 in the regular season. So the likelihood that one (and possibly two) of these teams might not make the playoffs is all the more surprising. (Perhaps even more surprising than the fact that neither of the two Justice League teams have a Superman or Batman). Parentheticals aside, these are both similar squads, featuring strong front-line characters with excellent supporting casts. The major difference is Hal Jordan’s injured; Captain Atom’s not. Side note: this week’s introduction of the new maps places this one in the Watchtower. Fitting, no?
My pick? Between the injury and the Telekinetic Strain BFC, the JLI make the playoff push even closer as they even their records to 3-3.
JSA (2-3) vs Fatal Five (2-3)
While the JSA may be in the catbird seat heading into this game, they’re facing a Fatal Five squad that dismantled the Batman Enemies last week. Facing a plethora of Outwit, Stepper goes with Fortitude on Captain Marvel. Unfortunately for Doc Mid-Nite and Mr. Terrific, Bright Lights makes their abilities all too vulnerable against this squad.
My pick? It’s a close one, but Captain Marvel manages to take down more of the Fatal Five than they can of his teammates.

Yea its bringing up the training base for every link, and it has two fields I can type in, but they don't do anything unless i just don;t know what to type in. This probably has something to do with my walk firewall.

I would love to go as well...last year was AWESOME...but alas...my wife's expected due date for our second child is February 20...so even if she gives birth two weeks before...I don't think she'd let me go have fun and play clix while she's at home with an infant and a 1 and a half year old. :O

Speaking of WWLA, I live in LA and can offer a futon to anyone looking for a place to crash. I'm in the valley but near the subway, so it zips us right to the convention center without having to park (although you then have to carry your Fin Fang Foom all day)

It is from the object or person in front of the tker and yes they could end up 11 spaces in front of the tker as long as the tker has line of sight.

I believe you're allowed to move whatever you're moving ten squares. So yes, if you start out 1 square away from the TKer, you'd finish up to 11 squares away.

Hoping we get a ruling tonight man because weekend's gonna be pretty busy. Got traffic shool tommorrow. Got a ticket for going 40!!! I'm doing an all-nighter with my youth group as a fund raiser, they set me up with a computer for some video editing that I've been wanting to get done.
Febuary prizes showed up today.

Yeah actually that pretty much put him ahead of me if Cur's predictions are correct..but then again, I don't think I'll be making much points in this game...Ah well...now to look towards next season...darn, I'll only be able to keep three people now...that's gonna be a tough decision...:O

I am still having an awful lot of trouble making out the new maps, even using Full Screen. I've tried monkeying with my resolution, and that didn't help either. Any suggestions?

You weren't the only one hoping for the win. ;) But alas...Imperv, Shape Change, and Super Sense rolls have been the bane of my life these last three games...I have rolled three or four of the above powers in my last three games. I rolled Imperv 3 times on Despero, Shape Change 3 times with Cham, and Super Senses 3 times with Flash and Elongated Man...can anyone top that? ;) I think I'm a pretty good contender for the most Imperv, Shape Change, and Super Sense rolled Award. Vote for Tanis11!! ;)

Just checking, but does this turn end the game? Cause if you're gonna finish out, I'd move WC so he can attack next turn, but if you still get another turn and Mikey doesn't, theres no reason to move WC out of stealth, where he can be attacked.

Well you would have to declare good or bad alignment when you pick the team but you could draft only those related to your team that break the alignement rule.

I am also having trouble opening the new maps, which is extremely upsetting since I've been clamouring for more map choices since day one. I prefer to set them up at home anyway, so could someone please tell me which map is "Marvel 1" and what side the grid co-ordingates run along?

try using the firefox explorer, thats what I use its a free download an it has no problems with teh new maps

I was getting the same problem that one of our other Leaguers was haivng- everytime I tried to open it it only brought up the Training Facility (a custom map) and no other options. Then I worked it out- the work computer I was using has an old Flash player. If you get that problem, you need to upgrade your Flash player guys.
I have dial-up at home and it takes over 10 minutes to load but at least it works. It's worth it for new maps! TMNT, would it be possible for you to write a brief description of the map when you post the link so I don't have to wait forever to find out what it is? ie:
Marvel 1 (The Shopping Mall)

No problem. Actually, I do use Firefox and the maps are still tiny... Eventually I figured out that if I turned up the resolution so that everything else was hard to see, I could see the maps mostly fine if I got real close to the screen and squinted.
I hesitate to call it an optimum solution, but it's something, at least.
Hey, if you happen to be playing on Marvel 1- Marvel 4, OAP 1 OAP 2, DCA DCB, DC C, DCD, IAP 1, IAP 2, or Heroix, just ask your opponent to use the old creation matrix.

No problem. Actually, I do use Firefox and the maps are still tiny... Eventually I figured out that if I turned up the resolution so that everything else was hard to see, I could see the maps mostly fine if I got real close to the screen and squinted.
I hesitate to call it an optimum solution, but it's something, at least.

Unless there've been some major Flash changes in the last couple months, I'm current on that... And, Zoom In at this resolution makes things pretty easy to see (although to get tokens or see coordinates and such that way I would have to constantly Zoom In and Zoom Out), but at the original resolution I had it didn't seem to help much at all.
My work firewall won't let me download a newer version of Flash. I've tried before for other things. Oh well.

As a last resort, you can ask for a screenshot of the map. Getting one posted for reference's sake shouldn't be too hard.

Doesn't look like there are stairs at all at Q13 and 14. The only stairs on OAP1 are at D13 and E13.

Assuming you mean Q12 and Q13... no, that's just sidewalk, not stairs. If it were an indoor/outdoor map, that'd be the front door of the house... or maybe a garage... but there's no stairs to the roof from there.

Actually Cyberboard is a separate program so you don't need an internet browser to view it. I've been using that for my game with GreatArelius and just save it and pop it back open when I go back on again. Saves a LOT of time...and I don't have to have 50 million windows open all day long. ;)

Not neccessarily. The author of the "Steppin' Out" maneuver likened it to taking a knee, and while I certainly would be entertained by Romo botching such a play, he hasn't done it yet.

Sidenote: Parcells never really looked happy on the sidelines this year, so while I wouldn't want him to come back, for his sake, it still sucks to lose a really good coach.
Whilst the end of the game does end my post-season hopes, let me point out that even when I had a huge point advantage (like 300+ points), I did not run*. I kept taking the fight to Thawmus.
And, with that, the Secret Six retires ... at least until the post-season games for those that couldn't make the post-season begin. Now, I just gotta figure out who to give the last upgrade to, and who to 'lock in' for next season.
* - Alright, I tried to run. But, I couldn't get away from Clayface and his stinkin' plasticity. And, his Shape Change -- his freakin' Shape Change -- kept me from putting him out for the count on a number of different occassions. Yeah, and while we're being fair, I believe that the Vision had pretty much conceded prior to that anyway, as a combination of placement errors and bad luck had doomed the Exiles.

i know, i forfieted before the match to avoid injuries. i even posted on the main thread to ask for comments or suggestions. no one brought up that injuries wouldn't carry over into the playoffs (making a forfiet pointless). so, basically, that was the dumbest thing i could have done.

They don't carry on into non play off games. For instance, I don't have to worry about injuries cause I'm not in the playoffs. If we fight Galactus (or whatever), my team will get to show up injury free.
Yeah I asked if injuries carried over into the NON playoff games, and Turtle said it didn't.
Someone else asked if they do carry over into the playoffs and they do, they DON'T carry over into the Superbowl. So yeah, you did the right thing. No worries, Leemac. :)

Dark Judges vs. SoM, is about to turn into a brutal slog, which hurts my chances of racking up points for a Cinderella run at the playoffs (If Tanis didn't already mess it up by throwing his game :angry: ;) )

So the way I see it it's a dog fight between the following teams for 7th & 8th place
Alpha Fllight (W-4, L-1; 2073 pts)
Freedom Phalanx (W-3, L-2; 2375 pts)
West Coast Avengers (W-3, L-2; 2031 pts)
Sinister Six (W-3, L-2; 2015 pts)
Thunderbolts (W-3, L-2; 1914 pts)
Excalibur (W-3, L-2; 1829 pts)
The Exiles (W-3, L-2; 1753 pts)
Alpha Flight is the only team here that could lose and still make it (currently 4-1), but considering there are 3-1 teams with a higher total point score than Alpha they'd have to still score big while losing (would have to be very close to 401-399 in order to not be passed by Freedom Phalanx, who in turn would have to be decimated).
Exiles will have to make a giant win, close to a complete shut down, but we've seen them do that before. So while all the teams listed above are in serious competition for that 8th slot, I think the real contenders are
Alpha Fllight (W-4, L-1; 2073 pts)
Freedom Phalanx (W-3, L-2; 2375 pts)
West Coast Avengers (W-3, L-2; 2031 pts)
Sinister Six (W-3, L-2; 2015 pts)
Freedom Phalanx just needs a mediocre win to clinch it, 500-300 would do it. If the Phalanx and Alpha Flight lose then it's 100% down to who can score the most points, with the Alpha Flight, WCA, and Sinister 6 totals being within 60 points of eachother. Should be VERY tight.
But again, if everyone of those team (aside from Thuderbolts/Excalibur) loose, a 3-3 team could still slip in.

I think the Alpha Flight/Hydra game is going to be very crucial for rankings. They're a great team, but are playing Hydra, and both sides brought their A-list lineup. It's 50/50, but should be watched VERY closely.
OK, another question: If I target a wall, and on the other side of the wall is a barrrier token, do I destroy just the wall or the barrier as well?
Ok, I did my part and brought home a win, now all those teams that are currenly 3-2 need to loose and I have a chance at the finals.
Actually, nevermind.
I just looked at points, even if Freedom Phalanx looses and picks up zero points, they'll still have more points than I do after round 6. Man, I really need to have clean sweep the Defenders to have a chance.
Of course, The last minute KO on Ben this game, and Johnny Last game weren't very helpful. Oh well....

And still the question remains, since Sinestro's most expensive REV is the Hypertime one, does that mean that I upgrade to the E HT Sinestro?

The faq skips LE Clark Kent because superman's progression is based on the most expensive REV set, which is the ICONS version.
When an LE is part of the most expensive REV set, it counts.

Must be this trying to take more than 1 turn a day thing that's throwing me off. :nervous:

Marvel League Rankings Analysis
#1 - SHIELD (W-5, L-0; 2778 pts) vs. Heralds (2-3)
#2 - Iron Man Rogues (W-5, L-0; 2388 pts) vs. Ultimates (4-1)
With both of these teams on straight wins, they are 100% guaranteed to make it even if they lose to a clean sweep. People on the edge will be hoping that the Rogues beat the Ultimates soundly to reduce the current #5 team's playoff chances.
#3 - 60's Avengers (W-4, L-1; 2798 pts) vs. Sinister 6 (3-2)
An important game for both teams. As the #9 team, if the Sinister 6 can pull off a total sweep of the 60's Avengers, they could actually knock them out of the play-offs! Chances are slim however, as it would only happen if the Freedom Phalanx and WCA can overtake them in points as well. As long as the Avengers can wind up with at least 18 points they are safe.
#4 - Minions Of Doom (W-4, L-1; 2575 pts) vs. Fantastic Four (2-3)
The Minions are guaranteed to make it in, because if they don't, Doom has threatened to destroy HCrealms and turn it into a memory dump for his robots. Nah, j/k! The Minions need at least 241 pts with a loss to stay in the play-offs, but a win will guarantee it.
#5 - Ultimates (W-4, L-1; 2516 pts) vs. Iron Man Rogues (5-0)
The Ultimates need at least 300 pts on a loss to be guaranteed to stay in the play-offs. Tough call against the undeafeted Rogues, but if they get less than that there's still a chance they'll stay in, depending on the results of other matches.
#6 - Alpha Flight (W-4, L-1; 2073 pts) vs. Hydra (3-2)
To be guaranteed a place, the Alphans MUST win against Hydra. If they lose, it's going to come down to points, and with plenty of 3-2 teams on similar points to them currently, that's very dangerous for them
#7 - Freedom Phalanx (W-3, L-2; 2375 pts) vs. Hellfire Club (1-4)
The Phalanx lead the 3-2 pack currently, so a loss here could knock them out of the race. If they win with at least 440 pts then they guaranteed to make it in to the finals.
#8 - West Coast Avengers (W-3, L-2; 2031 pts) vs. Secret Defenders(2-3)
The WCA need a huge win (784pts) to be guaranteed a playoff. Any less than that, and it will depend on the scores of those teams chomping at their heels for that coveted 8th spot.
#9 - Sinister Six (W-3, L-2; 2015 pts) vs. 60's Avengers
Sitting at the border, the 6 need a definite win here for a chance at it. If they can get more points than the WCA and the T-bolts with a win they can make it in.
#10 - Thunderbolts (W-3, L-2; 1914 pts) vs. Excalibur (3-2)
#11 - Excalibur (W-3, L-2; 1829 pts) vs. Thunderbolts (3-2)
This game is critical for both of these players. Theoretically, a loss with 118 pts for the T-bolts or 202 pts for Excalibur could still get them in, since that is all that is currently seperating them from the 8th slot. However, don't hold your hopes up, since that would require the WCA and the Sinister 6 both getting completely slaughtered. A good win either way will give a good chance of making it in.
#12 - The Exiles (W-3, L-2; 1753 pts) vs. New Mutants (1-4)
The minimum needed to give the Exiles the slimmest chance to make it in would be 278pts. Although obviously the more points they get the better.
#13 - HYDRA (W-3, L-2; 1610 pts) vs. Alpha Flight
Hydra needs at least 421 pts for a shot at the playoffs. Tough luck for a team that was in the top 3 just a couple of rounds ago.
#14 - The Brotherhood (W-2, L-2; 2015 pts) vs. X-factor

The faq skips LE Clark Kent because superman's progression is based on the most expensive REV set, which is the ICONS version.
When an LE is part of the most expensive REV set, it counts.
Well carp. That means Dr. Light has to work for a 6 point upgrade.
I like the R Dr. Light better than the LE as it is :(

If you can call a no contest in the middle of the match, I believe you forfeit any points you scored. But again, I think we need to ask Turtle to really know.

Marvel League Rankings Analysis
#1 - SHIELD (W-5, L-0; 2778 pts) vs. Heralds (2-3)
#2 - Iron Man Rogues (W-5, L-0; 2388 pts) vs. Ultimates (4-1)
With both of these teams on straight wins, they are 100% guaranteed to make it even if they lose to a clean sweep. People on the edge will be hoping that the Rogues beat the Ultimates soundly to reduce the current #5 team's playoff chances.
#3 - 60's Avengers (W-4, L-1; 2798 pts) vs. Sinister 6 (3-2)
An important game for both teams. As the #9 team, if the Sinister 6 can pull off a total sweep of the 60's Avengers, they could actually knock them out of the play-offs! Chances are slim however, as it would only happen if the Freedom Phalanx and WCA can overtake them in points as well. As long as the Avengers can wind up with at least 18 points they are safe.
#4 - Minions Of Doom (W-4, L-1; 2575 pts) vs. Fantastic Four (2-3)
The Minions are guaranteed to make it in, because if they don't, Doom has threatened to destroy HCrealms and turn it into a memory dump for his robots. Nah, j/k! The Minions need at least 241 pts with a loss to stay in the play-offs, but a win will guarantee it.
#5 - Ultimates (W-4, L-1; 2516 pts) vs. Iron Man Rogues (5-0)
The Ultimates need at least 300 pts on a loss to be guaranteed to stay in the play-offs. Tough call against the undeafeted Rogues, but if they get less than that there's still a chance they'll stay in, depending on the results of other matches.
#6 - Alpha Flight (W-4, L-1; 2073 pts) vs. Hydra (3-2)
To be guaranteed a place, the Alphans MUST win against Hydra. If they lose, it's going to come down to points, and with plenty of 3-2 teams on similar points to them currently, that's very dangerous for them
#7 - Freedom Phalanx (W-3, L-2; 2375 pts) vs. Hellfire Club (1-4)
The Phalanx lead the 3-2 pack currently, so a loss here could knock them out of the race. If they win with at least 440 pts then they guaranteed to make it in to the finals.
#8 - West Coast Avengers (W-3, L-2; 2031 pts) vs. Secret Defenders(2-3)
The WCA need a huge win (784pts) to be guaranteed a playoff. Any less than that, and it will depend on the scores of those teams chomping at their heels for that coveted 8th spot.
#9 - Sinister Six (W-3, L-2; 2015 pts) vs. 60's Avengers
Sitting at the border, the 6 need a definite win here for a chance at it. If they can get more points than the WCA and the T-bolts with a win they can make it in.
#10 - Thunderbolts (W-3, L-2; 1914 pts) vs. Excalibur (3-2)
#11 - Excalibur (W-3, L-2; 1829 pts) vs. Thunderbolts (3-2)
This game is critical for both of these players. Theoretically, a loss with 118 pts for the T-bolts or 202 pts for Excalibur could still get them in, since that is all that is currently seperating them from the 8th slot. However, don't hold your hopes up, since that would require the WCA and the Sinister 6 both getting completely slaughtered. A good win either way will give a good chance of making it in.
#12 - The Exiles (W-3, L-2; 1753 pts) vs. New Mutants (1-4)
The minimum needed to give the Exiles the slimmest chance to make it in would be 278pts. Although obviously the more points they get the better.
#13 - HYDRA (W-3, L-2; 1610 pts) vs. Alpha Flight
Hydra needs at least 421 pts for a shot at the playoffs. Tough luck for a team that was in the top 3 just a couple of rounds ago.

If you go "no contest" it counts as a loss for you and a clean sweep victory for Kazz (and 800 points for him). This will result in a very happy Kazzigum and very sad mbauers and jhhump, since that would be two teams ahead of us (ultimates are the other) given 800 free points and an automatic playoff berth. But I'm not bitter or anything :laugh:

I won't tell you which one I want the most (since I know the prizes) but let's just say, they're good, and I need one.

No way. The TA, as written, is perfectly balanced--for those who are paying for it. With Wildcards, it gets gross, and quickly. Especially because in this format, BFCs are always random, so the major counters to the strategy of Sue + Wildcards aren't an option.
Maybe if we worked out a system whereby you had to pay 10-15 extra points per Wildcard it could be wildcardable, but for free? I can't get behind that.

True but I lost 4 games even with the Alt Fan 4 TA. And barely won my last game.
The fear was that I would dominate, clearly that's not the case. And while you can't choose your BFC, I've clearly been screwed in a few matches by the random BFC.
And they're are plenty ways around it.
Doom got me with a high attack. New Mutants found pulse wave was a wonderous way. Iron Man Rogues found poison works nicely.
I just kinda feel that if Wizkids thought it was un-balanced to have it wildcarded, they wouldn't allow for it to be wildcarded.

Good games, but I'm looking for something quick and more "Icebreaker-isque".
Like Ultimate Musical Chairs, - Musical chairs except when the music stop, the caller yells out a body part and that body part must be put on the chair. For instance, - ear, Right hand, and so on. Keeping it clean of course.
Something quick and fun to get teens out of the chairs and warm them up for the evening service.

Well, that's because they feel that BFC's are enough to feel that something is balanced, sadly. They don't feel wildcards are unbalanced because Disbanded is out there, and they don't feel LAMP is unbalanced because Poor Teamwork is out there. And they typically fall back on BFC's to say that something isn't completely borken.
Which, since we use random BFC's here, really doesn't work for us at all.

I don't see any problems with wildcarding the Alt. FF TA. Especially since I thought we were working on straight tournament rules in this league.
I recommend the rule be either 'ALL ATAs cannot be wildcarded' or 'No ATAs can be wildcarded, the wildcards get the original TA'.
Personally, I have no problem with ATAs being wildcardable in a league where you've got the KC figures running around.

yeah we have two ff teams w/ alt ff ta, neither is making the playoffs,... if both teams went undefeated, I would say something like I want them in season 4 :)

I think this is definately the more logical and fair way of handling it, declaring no contest mid-match felt a little silly. It's just that the board discussion of the past week has been discussing it as a mid-game ability. Besides, if it's a clean sweep I wouldn't do it anyways, I need SOME points to get to the finals. Sorry Kazzi.

Since I didn't even make the top 10 with my team, I don't feel it's too powerful, thank you.
It's a tough call, as other than this we play by official heroclix rules. But I HATE the Alt FF ability. I'm fine with ICWO, even fine with Thunderbolts, but the Alt FF ability wildcarded just bugs the #### out of me. I know Wizkids considers it balanced, but it's the one ability in the game that seems overpowered to the point of being silly. 19 defense for every figure on your team, even those with ES/D and combat reflexes? Even those that didn't pay the hefty FF TA price?
It's in the official rules, and it's a slippery slope outlawing things just based on the 'I don't like it' criteria, but I'd much rather play in a league without wildcardable Alt FF abilities on the other side of the map from me.
And remember, it wouldn't just be FF teams. One needs to ask themself how they'd feel once the MSU's Legion got their hands on a decent FF member, and locked an already rampaging team's defense at 17 or more.

So far there is no restriction on other Alt TA's. However, your Alpha Flight is restricted to actual Alpha Flight members and wild cards.

on the ALT team ability affecting wildcards. I would say its fair that it affects wildcards, who have at least 1 vversion with the FF 4 team ability.
Off the top of my head that would be she-hulk and spiderman.
For icebreakers If they are kids I am not realy sure what to play? I never did many social events as kids. I went on a Jessuit Karos Retruit a few times in high school. Where they bassically put us in a room and started sharing stories and then having us come up 1 at a time and share our stories. Then everyone would give you support and everyone would cry and relate it to God/ Then do exercizes how we see God in our lives and in each other. Realy it was a magical wonderful experience, because it was the oposite of high school. Everyone was friends, no one judged you, poeple that hated you in class would hug you and cry with you here, it was unreal. The worst part of the week long retreats were returning to real life.

I'd be in favor of the Alt Fan 4 rule proposal. I figure the most abusive thing with that card is lending the 19 DV to a figure with ESD, and Turtle's team can already do that (Human Torch).
And remember, it wouldn't just be FF teams. One needs to ask themself how they'd feel once the MSU's Legion got their hands on a decent FF member, and locked an already rampaging team's defense at 17 or more.

We do not, in fact, use the straight tournament rules here--as evidenced by the alignment rule and thematic feat rules, and this rule that is pre-existing.
Besides which, stating that the FF teams have not dominated with this rule in place has no bearing whatsoever on how likely they are to dominate without it. That's like arguing that because V Supes sucks with the half-range HSS (not that I think he does), there shouldn't be a problem if he has the full range. One does not follow from the other.
And, why is it not thematic for Crystal to have the FF ATA feat if she's not on an FF team? Or Medusa, She-Hulk, etc? Unless ATAs are restricted to being the single free "team feat" only.

Anybody watching Ultimate Brotherhood vs. Marauders? Great match. The Ultimate Brotherhood are having their match of the season, and Magneto may vanquish the whole team the way it's going. Really great strategies happening on both sides, a great mix of tactics and luck. Magneto making his breakaway to RS Scalphunter just now, awesome!

I wish I had put myself in position to make such a move. I have some injuries for the first round of the playoffs that are going to be hard to deal with.

That brings up an interesting rules question. With Ra's suffering a -1 to his defense, how does that affect your team ability? I'd think it would be considered a modifier, so the replacement attack values would be 11 for his teammates (on his U's top click, IIRC), and not 10, but then...I dunno.

But then again the Judges stand a very good chance of making that 8th spot...before tenk's forfeiture, I had a chance depending on two things...one, Iceman doesn't show...and two, the Judges don't score more than like 405 points. But at looking how that games going...I don't think I woulda made it to the playoffs. He's doing really well and could still take that 8th spot if Iceman doesn't show...

Crosses fingers for a nice DC ATA that IS the Society, cause the one we have now sucks (If it was an ATA for Calculator or Superman Enemys, I would love it)
I'm not gonna pretend I'm not in the playoffs because of my team feat, but with all honesty, a team feat that needs the IL TA, when the only Society members that have said TA are:
1)E Solomon Grundy (already taken)
2)E Black Manta (theres no way I could upgrade him to the E, and even then he isn't worth the points)
3)LE Barbara Ann Minerva (I would have to upgrade Cheetah 3 times. Currently she has 1 SA and no KOs)
is pretty much the same as not having a team feat at all.
With our luck, DC will get an ATA for the WORTHLESS Batman Enemy TA....

Yeah, I think I'd need a complete sweep to beat that and, although the dice rolls in particular and the game are in my favor right now, I have Joystick (Karnak) on her last click next to 3 opponents. Oh yeah, and there is the matter of the whole "uninjured Juggernaut thing" I have to deal with. Oh yeah, and Fixer is about to get smacked off of his outwit.
Ok, so, um, about that sweep... :disappoin
And speaking of Fixer, I have an AST question. If Fixer outwits someones super senses and a teammate shoots that target for 1, I know I get an AST. However, if the figure is still showing super senses and another one of my teammates shoots that figure (with SS still being outwitted) does Fixer get another AST?
I know you can only get one AST per action, but this is an instance of one outwit helping two successful actions.
