Actually, there's nobody more deserving on my team of the MVP award, in hindsight, than R Man-bat.

Despite his inability to carry others into the fray, like a good Man-Bat should, he stopped several opponents for several turns, because of his decently long dial, cheap cost, and full-dial of L/C.

Two games I can think of in particular where he pretty much kept the team from dying immediately was the first game against the Outsiders, and the game against Peers. And there were countless other instances where he saved lives, like when he pinned down the Society, or the S6, when I needed a little breathing room.

In all actuality, the times when I've been WITHOUT him is usually when my team doesn't get into position, and gets destroyed in two turns.

So, I don't think it's any surprise who my round 3 draft pick is. ;)

See, I was the only one who thought we'd go straight 400 for Season 3, as it seemed a logical progression from Season 1's 300, and Season 2's 300/400.

I'm down with either 300 or 400 point formats. But I think it would be cool to have a 1,000 point team-up at some point where you and a partner join forces with 500 point teams, in a 4 person match. Maybe the end of the season once the playoffs start? Since stats won't matter anyway.

Speaking of Thor, anyone interested should feel 100% good with drafting him, I will not be stealing him. I had a great time with Thor last season, and he's a great figure, but I'm tired of the guy and looking for something new (it rhymes with warm).

I highly recommend him, for 112 points he can do great things, and really just keeps fighting throughout his dial. Not being front loaded means you can afford to really send him into the thick of things while the rest of your team benefits from the lack of attention.

I don't think we should pick their figures, but perhaps during season 3 we can vote on a draft rule along the lines of : If you don't provide Turtle with a draft list within X hours of a round beginning, you go to the end of the line for the round.

It's not fair to make a new rule right now, but it really is not difficult to work up a list and give it to Turtle. No one should be waiting to see who else drafts what in the current round to see who they want (different than waiting for the current round to end before sending in your next round).

I think Turtle does a fine job of keeping things running smoothly, considering we've got nearly 50 teams with individual managers in all sorts of different time zones. The added time allows folks to make trades, while envisioning all sorts of scenarios as to what their team will look like. There's no other time in the season where folks get so excited about the league. Why not enjoy it while it lasts?

how about this for the future drafts,.....

when a manager is submitting a draft pick, one has to submit at least 4 characters with the experience level, plus any and all feats that are applicable for that draft pick.

if in the next round, the manage has not submitted any new picks the next character on the previous list would be taken.

if all 4+ characters are taken, manager will be given 4 hours to submit a new list. if the manager doesn't return a list of characters with in the time frame the draft pick would be skipped.

if a manager chooses to skip a round but not exit the draft simply state skip.

if a manager has run out of points or choses not to participate in the draft the team must state that they want to exit the draft.

I like the character separations, but for the actual matches I think I'd enjoy getting to play against DC. It's not like my Avengers fighting the Secret 6 will be any less themey than when we fight the Marvel Zombies, and I feel like I become tighter friends with my fellow Marvel opponents than I do with the DC players.

I think maybe pre-season we should mix it up, marvel and DC, but regular season should be strictly Marvel and then strictly DC. I am also hoping for a fun mid-season break before Rivals Week where Marvel and DC can dance again.

Earlier I proposed a cross league game scheduled for the 4th game of the season.

Once the third game of the season is over, you would know the matchups. Marvel #1 vs DC/Indy#1 and so on.

Of course the Marvel bottom-feeders would end up playing each other...but thats just incentive not to suck!!!

That's why we're all told to send in a list. That was the reason that the draft was delayed this morning, thus not revealing any of the previous players picks that you wanted to see.

I agree with you mostly, the delays are bothersome and I want to get through the draft and start season 3 too.
But a counterpoint to this is the situation I'm in. I have the 4th pick I think, so as the draft snakes away from me, there are a minimum of 6 villain teams that are gonna make picks before it comes back to me again. In other words, I got the 4th pick of the draft, then my next pick was the 37th of the draft. Quite a wait between picks. And it can get pretty complex trying to figure out, if player X is gone, I'll take player Y, if X and Y are gone, I'll take Z, but what if X, Y and Z are all gone?
I'm sending two picks in, with subs, as my turn approaches. that way I don't end up picking someone I didn't really want that much too early.
It's worked for me so far in that I haven't held up the draft yet:laugh:
Anyway, probably more than you needed to know ........

I got a similar situation, there are 3 other Avengers teams (ultimates, New, Shield). At some points there are 50 picks before my next one, most of them good guys and many of them Avengers. I just assume my first few picks are going to fail and send in a long list of picks. Doesn't matter what the people before me draft, the whole point of making backups on a list is assuming that #1 #2 & #3 will all get taken.

Also, there is a good reason to sometimes not send in any backup picks--if you really, really want the fig you're going for that round, and you're worried that they'll be taken, you may want to see who takes it and then PM them to see if there's any more expensive figure you can draft that round in exchange for a trade; especially as the draft snakes and it might be quite awhile before you get to draft again if you wait to try to arrange the trade for the next round, hence making it much more likely that the fig they'd want is now gone. In that case, it's a significant disadvantage to give backups.

Of course, if you're not desperate to have the number 1 choice over the number 2 choice, then that doesn't apply.

Although, if you're on the DC side, the fewer backups you list the less likely you are to alert Turtle that you're interested in one of the figs he's planning to draft. :nervous:

By the way, Turtle, that's not a dig at you or your integrity, just a statement of fact that it's hard to 'unknow' something like that.

Just pointing out the counterpoints that the system we're using does leave valid reasons for delay, by having non-trivial penalties in some situations for not doing so.

Doom would also be interested in Suicide Squad, Kabuki/Bat Ally, Ultimates/Supes Ally, or Ult X-men/2000AD.

I think making the Pre-Season games be cross universe is a BRILLIANT idea. Obviously there'd still need to be a few Marvel vs Marvel games, but since it doesn't affect the standings, bring it on. I agree I feel a lot tighter with those I've played against.

I'd also love it if we moved to 400 pt games for the whole season. Could we at least make the whole of the play-offs 500 instead of just the Superbowl?

Now that I'm against, last season I found my 500 point team far less threatening than my 400 point squad. The new guys are being given 500 points total, it's very difficult to ensure that your draft lineup will be effective at 300, 400, & 500.

Actually, given the sheer magnitude of PMs I've received concerning Batman Enemies (since everyone wants the TA for one reason or another) that people are wanting to draft, and not have to deal with stealing, I'm not too certain that the rest of my picks will be uncontested.

However, given that after round 5, I'll have all the figures I want, I could really care less. I've got plenty of figures, plenty of options, and there's always room for more TA's on this team, with the two wildcards being heavily playable.

I don't really think they should, and here's my reasoning. Practically every hero in the Marvel U is an Avengers reservist, as evidenced in Avengers Disassembled when they all showed up.

I thought about this last season but didn't have the points to get him. And then this season, it came down to points again. But CB + PD TA = +1 on range to anyone in LoS since the Giant can basically see everyone!

Even still! Using the PD TA last season, positioning was key so I could get the max number of uses from the PD TA. When I was fighting Validus, it was great that ALL of my guys could see him so I could gain the most from the PD TA. Same thing with CB. Plus, you WANT to be around CB because of his 17 Defend!
