Holy ####.
He's very take downable by a high offense squad (Leemac's Shield would obliterate him), but if you don't just put him right down he can do amazing things. With a good crew of under 50 point guys, lots of fodder to get in the way of the opponents, he could really be awful.

Dont care for Mandarin the character, so will keep my old one. I will say the white power is useful for Mandarin since he has so many abilities.
Can he use ANY of those powers or ALL of those powers? I am assuming he can pick and choose, right?

I sort of disagree with this assessment. I think his 'damage reducer' is his 12 range. With the proper teammates, he will hang back and pick people apart.
Of course, I really like The Dark Knight as well so there you go. ;)
Can he use ANY of those powers or ALL of those powers? I am assuming he can pick and choose, right?
He can use all of them, but since none of them are free actions, nor allow for a ranged or close combat action, you'll never use two of them at the same time.
If he had a special power that gave him outwit, perplex, probability control, and energy explosion, then he could outwit a defense, perplex up his attack, perform an energy explosion attack, and re-roll if he misses.
Which isn't the case. But I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Black Panther with such a combo.

On one hand I like the concept of him having all those powers for all the rings, but on the other hand....why use smoke cloud when you could use barrier? Why use any of those powers besides tk and barrier? One target EE and incap are poor when you have 3 damage outwit.
Also, having a 12 range and outwit that only works from 10 squares away is a bit....problematic.
I think I'm including the Iron Man Rogue team as part of my list of wants for next season.

My 2 cents on the new Mandarin:
1. Those are some pretty awful special powers. He's saddled with (and presumably paid for) multiple clicks of energy explosion, force blast, smoke cloud, and quake. TK, while not a useless power, is really not a great addition to a 156-point figure. While I know there are circumstances where all of those powers can come in handy, they tend to be fairly limited circumstances. He would have been a better figure if he didn't have to pay for a half dozen nearly useless powers.
2. While he has some pretty useful regular powers on his dial, his powers don't create a lot of synergy. He can outwit, but to do that, he has to get within 10 squares, which wastes his 12 range. He can mind control a figure, but there can't be that many situations where it's better to mind control another figure instead of, oh, nailing them with psychic blast for 3 damage. He's can put up a barrier, but again, why do that when you can psychic blast for 3 damage instead?
The lack of synergy really hurts him because he pays for all of those powers, but they don't work together well.
Overall verdict: A lot of powers. Some are useless. The useful ones don't work together well. He would have been a much better and cheaper figure if Seth had settled on a smaller number of powers that work together better.
Mandarin + Mental Shields + Force Field = Sick.

Remember that the White Powers don't count as prereqs for feats, so for large chunks of his dial he wouldn't be able to use those...

Forcefield is a bit iffy there, yes. But he can use Mental Shields for all of his dial, except for two clicks (4 and 8). Remeber, Willpower qualifies you for Mental Shields too ;)

I love minimates!!
I like Mandarin, just because for 156 pts, he doesn't have to be your whole force in a 300 pt game.
I like his stats, I like that they gave him options, he's not a game-killer, but I think in the new enviornment he'll be fun to play.
I think that's exactly the point... there's not many situations where you're rather use Mind Control, or Barrier, or Smoke Cloud, or TK, instead of doing three damage.
But if you find yourself in -any- of those situations, you're covered.
On a 300 point game though, he is a lot of points to have as "support". In bigger point games he will be MUCH more useful But in a standard 300, I think he costs too much for what he brings.

I'd love to see some "Red Son" characters made, especially Batman, Superman and Hal Jordan.
Other than that though I think since its JL themed I should see a lot of characters I like and am familiar with so it should be a great set. Although I'm probably more excited about Avengers, since were getting a 616 Cap, Ultimates, Red Skull w/ Cosmic Cube and lots of other stuff that I'm really excited about.
I got mine as well...not a lot for my team that can work for everyone so I decided to go with something that everyone can use and not break the bank. NO more siphon power.

I've lived on the west coast a year and a half now, and while I miss NY very much, the restaurants/fast food out here really dominates. I think it's the prevalence of more small chains. Although NY fast food Chinese is much better.

Nothing beats local restaurants anywhere...the non-chain places that you cannot find anywhere else in the country.
While traveling in the south, I have found hidden treasures of BBQ and southern cooking (I love southern cooking!). There is this place in Atlanta which has the best fried chicken and fried green tomatoes in the world. South City Kitchen (I think...I know where it is, just never the name) or this seafood restaurant in Mobile which has the best blackened catfish I have ever tasted (as well as good Banana pudding). A place in KC, KS is where I had the best BBQ I have ever had in my entire life. Little hole in the wall place but it was the best sauce.
I try to never eat at chain restaurants while traveling...except for Sonic. Damn their milkshakes!!!

There aren't many characters in DC that haven't been made at all I'm hoping for, but there are a huge number of characters who deserve remakes.
A boost to the Green Arrow family will be great, with a new Oliver & our first Connor, and I hope a new Black Canary.
I'd love to see a new Batgirl & Lady Shiva.
A new Deathstroke. The old is still a great figure, but has started to fall behind the new figures with their fancy non-front loaded dials.
Ted Kord Blue Beetle.
More New Gods. Baron Vundebar.

Definitely want to see a kick butt Canary, Huntress, and Shiva. I wouldn't mind seeing a new Despero, maybe going back to the old-school "goofy alien with a fin on his head". :laugh:

The one figure I really want to see DC make probably won't be in Justice League -or- Teen Titans... I'd love to see a Skyrocket. But then, I'm the (only) person who bought Power Company... tho she did get a panel of face-time in Infinite Crisis and a panel of face-time in Birds of Prey OYL...
... meh. Mach-I/III/IV will be a good sub for her if I decide to use her next season.

I can wait a little longer for certain characters (Deathstroke, Nightwing, Batgirl, Kid Devil, Cyborg) if I know they'll be in teen titans. (I find it odd that Robin is gonna be in Justice League with Teen Titans around the corner.)
I want a new Doomsday, a new Ollie Green Arrow, a and new Black Canary.
New figures I want Lobo of course (one on the bike, one without, one his new pirate look, one his old biker look), Connor, Psycho Pirate, and the rest of the secret 6.

I did! I also said "noooooo don't make him an uber fighter! Being an amazing archer but only a brawler in close combat is part of his charm."

I don't know...I was driven there by a friends' family. It was right over the bridge, maybe 5 minutes or so in KN. Maybe 5 or 6 tables. Honestly, the best BBQ ever. The baked beans were heavenly. The coleslaw was heavenly. I heard the other sides were good too but I was too busy stuffing roast beef, ribs, chicken, turkey, and brisket into my mouth.
We ordered platters of stuff...I can find out hte place when I get back to the office and ask my friend (she is from KC, KS and her parents live there and took us out when we are all there for a convention).
Her dad is a BBQ critique with some newspaper/society of BBQ or something and said this place was the best in all of KS and MO. He apparently has eaten at all of them. Seriously Jacin...most awesome food ever. If you like BBQ...

I've got a few scenarios created, such as 'Aliens' and 'Dawn of the Dead', where HeroClix teams gather together to take on a HorrorClix foe run by a single player. Basically, it recreates a movie, using HorrorClix figures.
In 'Aliens', the Heroes are sent to eradicate a group of 'hostile xenoforms' in a newly discovered buried alien structure in the Antarctic. When they get there, they do battle with Aliens, rescue survivors, and try to destroy the Alien Queen (and aide or avoid the Predator).
In 'Dawn', the Heroes defend a mall from an overwhelming horde of Zombies. They, too, rescue survivors and attempt to destroy as many of the zombies as they can without being overrun.

SHAZAM has had fortitude since game two season 1 and you see what happened there, oh and Mr T will be actively seeking thwart to go with the JSA's Coordination

Yeah...you won the Superbowl. That's what I'm saying.
I'm not really scared, per se. But in this league, the ability to avoid Outwit is pretty impressive because it is not a foregone conclusion in many cases. Just ask Dredd. :cool:

All HorrorClix figures use their HorrorClix rules (including those on their card, Frenzy, the built-in Willpower, etc.).
I ain't worried...I LOVE thwart. Bring it on Supes Allies!

All HorrorClix figures use their HorrorClix rules (including those on their card, Frenzy, the built-in Willpower, etc.).

A morrison JLA would be great if you had a high team pick slot. I really love those guys, that's the book that turned DC around for me after a very low period of several years. The book gave DC a center to revolve around, and reminded a lot of people that these characters are amazing, not just relics of a naive age.
Looking forward to some league announcements tomorrow. I had a great season 2, so here's to season 3 being even better. See you all on the grid.

I think I've actually managed to convince myself that I want to try and run a "Mole Man and his Minions" team for next season, just for the sheer insanity of it :)
Mole Man, a horde of Moloids, Tanaraq (as a sub for Giganto), Chemo (subbing in for Tricephalous), maybe Ulik (as Megataur) and Brood Queen as Skreeal!

What I do, is I kinda let it flow. Normally, during the season, I'm looking at my opponent's roster, trying to figure out what they're going to bring, and build a team to counter it. During Pre-season, I just focus on two things: Having Fun, and getting stats.
I could care less if I win or not.
The key is to look at your schedule and try to upgrade her as close to the point-cap-raising as you can. That's part of the fun of a fantasy league... working on timing.
Whereas my choice comes down to "Do I want to spam my grunts into games to try and get them stats, knowing I'll probably be giving more stats to my opponents than I get and unbalancing the league, or do I try to play 'normal Heroclix' style and only use grunts for filler?

Depends if you really want to upgrade her or not...if you do and if you're just going to bench her for 80% of the time, the preseason's the time to get her some stats. If you don't care to upgrade her, then have her sit and play someone else to get their stats up.
Me, I'm playing pretty much all the new people I got to get them stats to upgrade them. So yeah, my squad's pretty much gonna be a hodge podge of people with no rhyme or reason to them

Miek should be happy to be represented by a Saurian Trooper, go find an Indy team to get you one, and leave my Skreeal alone! :p

Yeah, when the Judges win, it's a three way tie. Sure, we'll be in the DC division (I assume) but the trophy will still be all about the Indy glory.

While this was being investigated, someone let loose this information, and a pitchfork and torch parade ensued. Lealu immediately made a short rant saying that she was in fact a woman, and that she was done with HCR. I believe that was her last post on HCR.
I'm pretty sure she wasn't banned, and is still not banned, in hopes she ever decides to come back. (a short look at her membership confirms this) But she'd probably have a bit of explaining to do, which judging from her last post, wouldn't happen, so I'm pretty sure she's gone for good.

I'll also add that one member of the 'Realms (whose name shall not be mentioned) also sent around, to anyone and everyone he could, all of the 'evidence' he'd gathered that LeaLu was not actually who she claimed to be, including a very real photo of a topless woman with excessibly large breasts that he claimed bore evidence of PhotoShopping which, near as I could tell (and I work in PhotoShop A LOT), it didn't.

Okay, brief explanation:
Basically, when you are a church worker in the LCMS (Lutheran Church Missouri Synod), you can get a "Call" from any church or lutheran school at any time. Usually, you first get a phone call, just a formal greeting. Then you receive a big certificate in the mail called a "Call document". This has all sorts of details for the church or school that is calling you to serve. 9 times out of 10, they also will foot the bill for a flight to their location (which could be anywhere. My dad has gotten calls from Fort Smith Arkansas, New York City, and Hong Kong), so that you can take a look around, greet existing staff, etc.
And then after that, you basically decide whether you want the job or not. If so, you work out the details with them. If not, they go down to the next person on their list. Basically, the Synod shoots them a list of what they think are the best candidates, and then they modify the list themselves to decide who they want to send a call to first.
The way it usually works, if you were in the Call system, you would probably get calls from urban churches that need like 5 pastors, or churches that were started up 5-10 years ago, and need a fresh young face to keep them going. At least, that's my impression.
It used to work HORRIBLY, but now it works very well, and a lot of teachers and pastors stick around longer now. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how hard it is for a budding church worker to constantly move due to disappointment.

That must have been a pretty emtional experience it almost brings tears to my eyes when I visit my old grammer school catedral. I wish you the best of luck in your new career ventures. Judging from your posts and all the somunication I have had with you. You are a warm hearted person who is deeply involved in the church, the comunity and religon. They could not find a better pastor then you turtle. If I was anywhere near you, it would be an honor to bring my wife and I to your sermon, after you get the position.
On preseason i awlays find its the best strategy to go with as swarmy of a swarm team that you can muster, also throw your (not so much want to get stats for) characters at teh enemy to tie them up and take shots with your little guys some of them are bound to hit. Remember the only advantage the winner gets over the loser is extra Kos, if that much. Overall the preseason losers will receive more RPs. So try to lose but make it as close as possible, esspecally if your a marvel team, with teh avengers set coming out and all those new white powers to play with.

I origonally drafted herculeas with the impression that he would be traded, unfortunatly the legistics of teh trade did not work for both parties and it fell through, now while I do not mind having him on my team, I ended my draft early and didnt get enough fliers, I was hopping to get stardust, ill ahve to wait till mid season now to get stardust. So if anyone is interested in herculeas for a low cost flying Good aliened figure let me know. Remember there is a great chance well see a new herc in teh avngers set.
Yeah I read up on the whole Lealu gate thing cuz I wanted to find out why she left...it was kinda sad that a person would want to do that to someone else just cuz of something that happened in their personal life. Why take it out on someone else? Kinda sucks...but what can you do?

It's by eye.
Just little things here and there. Funny shadows, color tones that just quite dont match up, general shoop-da-whooping.

You can do it by eye, some.
But there are a number of different filters that you can run a picture through and, generally, if it has been altered, the person doing the alterations misses some of the things that'll show up on those filters.
IF LeaLu wasn't real and the photos were faked, (s)he made sure to clean it up really well, and none of the filters revealed any work had been done to it.
Of course, that also doesn't eliminate the possibility that the photo itself was of a real person, and just not of the person who was claiming it was their own.
So, for example, would airbrushed photos show up as fake going through the filters or by eye? Or does it normally have to be something a bit more exaggerated...such as fake breasts.

The Society
Zoom, feated up and ready to go, Sinestro as transport, and a veritable swarm of rookies waiting to upgrade... this team scares me.
Green Lantern Corp
Apparently the ring is no longer a requirement to join... but with Abin Sur, Tomar Re, and Ch'p, they've got enough ring-wielders. Wonder Woman provides brickaliciousness, but the main problem with this team is a lack of balance; The odds of those who need stats getting them is relatively low.
Fatal Five
Emerald Empress with nova blast and protected. Ow. They're also able to wildcard Superman Enemy or Batman Enemy, so they're going to be especially vicious. If you can keep them from being adjacent to each other, that might make things a bit easier. Might.
Injustice League
Lots of variety, with Despero providing a tentpole and lots and lots of stat-hungry Rookies ready to swarm. This could be a sleeper team.
Secret Six
I guess it's true... they can't count so good. But any team with Karademon is going to be hard to face, and there's lots of chances for upgrades here this season.
Armies of Apokolips
I have no idea what the Ghost is doing there, but this team will be ugly when we hit 400 points. The only comfort I can take is that this is the Rookie Darkseid... for now.
JSA (Golden Age)
Some Origin goodness here, but I think this team won't be nearly as ugly as it could be... say, if this were after a reboot. There's a lot of figures in need of upgrades here, and if they were to continue on after this season, they'd be a serious threat.
Superman Allies
In the 300-point games, this team is going to be pinched... Bones is going to see a lot of play. But when they hit 400 points, as there's lots of different combinations they can throw at you as their four biggest figures are 100, 100, 105, and 112 points.
CSA
Ug. Who let Amazo on this team? To be honest, I don't want to face this team. Partially due to their figures, and partially due to the lag-time in deciding if things would be re-rolled and who will get the token if they do...
Doom Patrol
I like this team. It's decepticely simple. If Robotman can get some good stats in the pre-season, it could be the other big sleeper in the division.
The Greatest Generation
My biggest problem will be mobility. I have one flier. Granted, one who can drop eight paratroopers into battle, but still. It's going to be a slow plod against more mobile enemies.
Superman Enemies
Once Mister Mind gets enough stats for Compel, it's gonna be hard to face this one. Plenty of cheap Outwit makes it even uglier.
JLA (Satelite Era)
Parallax shouldn't be joked about -- he's gotten the stats to upgrade three times. There's a lot of Uniques on this team, meaning upgrades will mostly be kept to feats... but that may be all they need.
JSA (Modern Age)
At first, I thought the Golden Age got the better of this split. But Mister Terrific and Shazam! are both feated up and ready to go. Still, they supper from Unique-ism as well.
JLI
Best. Theme. Team. Evar. An excellent mix of strong and weak characters, upgradable and not, this one's really hard to plan against. Just show up and try to cope with whatever wackiness they throw at you.
Batman Enemies
Having faced them last season... Don't underestimate the annoyance of Man-Bat. The addition of Criminals for Mastermind-fodder makes them even more dangerous, and they've got more nasty tricks where that came from.
Young Justice
Another excellent mix of mobility and firepower, I'm expecting really good things from this team. The addition of The Ray and Wonder Girl will be interesting to watch.
Outsiders
Yeah, okay, this one scares me too. But that's mainly due to their TA and all my AV-enhancing tricks that I need in order to actually, y'know, hit things.
Legion of SuperHeroes
Wildfire is so cheese. But paired with MonEl, plus all the fun TAs they've got trading in... I'm hoping not to face them again this season.
Sentinels of Magic
It's hard to improve on how well they did last season. Raven w/Construct is going to be annoying as hell. But let's not forget that they've been 'knocked down' to Origin Green Lantern instead of KCGL; how well they cope with that is going to make all the difference.

Man I know I have a few Uniques (5) but I don't EAT Them.

Nah, you can catch most everything using something as simple as the edge detection filter that's built into the software.
And, PhotoShop CS3 is going to be releasing (soon), and it is supposed to be packed with even more tools like it that'll be able to detect photo fraud, like telling you if someone used the 'clone' tool to duplicate areas of the picture by running an algorithm over the pixels and finding areas that are 'improbably similar'.
If you want to see what to look for. Take a look at these photos (http://news.com.com/2300-1026-6033210.html) and see if you'd have been able to tell, just by looking at them, which ones had been changed.

I have 2 trades I am waiting for. there is a third one now that hinges on one of my first two. Should I wait till I get my first 2 then PM TMNT? or should I send him a revised list with all three?

My team simply cannot function as a core unit without her. So, I had to draft Kara, the Checkmate crew, and Batman to compensate for the loss.
