I have to recommend the games at SGC, I've only managed to get there a few times but I've always played a great bunch of games with friendly people, and the Judge was always incredibly helpful [unfortunately I have a terrible memory for names and so can't mention him properly]
But if you're in sydney and you have nothing else on on a sunday afternoon, I suggest getting on down to the games!
Cheers,
Robert

The link seems to be down.
Does anyone know what events are upcoming @ SGC?
Is there a pre-release happening? New Guy Night?
Draggor posted that UH's is this sunday but that is all I know that is happening in Sydney and sunday has suddenly looked bad...

I looked at the website earlier in the week, and it had this Sunday down for a "400 point scenario". Exactly what that means I'm not sure.
I'm going to either call the shop or SMS Neil tomorrow, as this is going to be my first free Sunday in over a month, and I want to click!

I tried emailing Neil through the wizkids website to find this out myself. According to the wizkids schedule this sunday is sposed to be the New Guy Night tournament.
Anyway, I too plan to be there this weekend.
Also BB, if you didn't know, the Supernova release sealed tourney is 19th November.

The 19th... ah... :knockedou
Thanx Thanosied - I will be there with bells on. I think the guys must be tied up with Supernova (the gaming convention/event in Sydney) this weekend.

no idea. No one turned up the last two weeks, so maybe they didn't make one up.

Did you go? I was tempted to go on NYE, but decided to skip at the last moment.
Ahh well, I guess I'll give this week a miss too then.

SGC's site has games listed from a few weeks ago...
Anybody know what is coming up this week or the week after?
Have to budget and with Avengers out I expect a sealed.

I was told last night that this sunday at SCG it's 400pts, JSA only.
zero_cochrane
06/28/2007, 23:17
Really? Bizarre! What if you don't collect JSA?
There's going to be a lot of very similar teams.
I can't make it due to work, so whatever, but that's got to be one of the most restrictive tournaments I've seen!
Than0seid
06/29/2007, 03:49
Yea, I think everyone's of the same mind. If it was Avengers it would be more varied as there's a wide range of figures, maybe even JLA.
Oh well, I'll tell you how it goes.

For anybody who doesn't hear from other sources, the (hopefully) week four of Starro Attacks at SGC is the following scenario:
400 point sealed tournament (modified).
Buy one sealed booster. You may use up to 200 points of your own Justice League figures and cards in addition to the contents of this sealed booster.
If you played this scenario in week three, you may not use any characters who you played in the subsequent week (unless you pull it from your sealed booster).
So you can bring as many of your previously-acquired Justice League set characters as you like, and add no more than 200 points of them to your force. For example, if you play 150 points of your own JL figures, you can use 250 points of figures pulled from your booster.
As I used my previously-acquired common Batman and rare Dream Girl in week three, I can only play those characters in week four if I pull them. This prevents people from playing identical forces for two weeks running. Obviously if you didn't play in week three then you don't need to worry about this restriction.
Any questions?

From http://www.sydneygamescentre.com/heroclix.php
Upcoming formats:
Sunday 4 November: THE MOB ATTACK! 400 points and all figures must be 50 points or less.
Sunday 11 November: THE ALIENS INVADE! 400 points and all characters must be aliens...but NO SUPERMAN. While Superman's away the aliens invade...
Sunday 18 November: THE HUMAN CONDITION! 400 points and all your characters must be plain old average humans. No aliens, no mutants, no animals. No special powers whatsoever.
Sunday 25 November: TAG TEAMS! 300 points with 150 points as your backup. As an action, you can swap in one of your backup figures.

Sunday 11 November: THE ALIENS INVADE! 400 points and all characters must be aliens...but NO SUPERMAN. While Superman's away the aliens invade...Note that this has been clarified a little, mostly at the request of some players.
No Superman family characters at all (including Supergirl, Young Superman, Krypto, I guess Mon-El if anybody can keep track of Legion continuity...).
Characters cannot be from (any version of) Earth - so aliens and other-dimensional characters (like Spiral) are okay, but Ultraman from Earth-2 is not.

I've been in touch with Paul at Sydney Games Centre, and he's okayed me to post the next few weeks of tournaments here and on the Croftminster forums...
Sunday 2nd of March - Land of the Giants!
500 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is not in effect.
You must have at least one Giant on your force.
Giants do not take pushing damage, and ignore the "Shrunk" battlefield condition.
followed by...
Sunday 9th of March - Uneasy Alliances!
Dire enemies are sometimes forced to work together! Reed Richards and Doctor Doom, Lex Luthor and Superman, Batman and the Joker - who will lead your team?
600 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is not in effect.
Your force must include two characters who are archenemies (same colour archenemy base). Friendly archenemies can share their attack values with each other when adjacent.
and then...
Sunday 16th of March: Reinforcements!
Just when things seem hopeless, here comes the cavalry!
400 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is not in effect.
Build a 300 point force, with an additional 100 points of "reinforcements". Whenever one of your characters is knocked out, you may immediately choose one character of fewer points from your reinforcements and move them to your starting zone.
Any Questions?

I just felt like a kvetch about what's happened.
On friday I contact SGC and spoke to Paul, one of the new owners about the possibility of buying a case of Crisis from them.
During conversations through the day I organised to purchase a case from SGC, coming in that night after work.
I turned up that night to purchase the case with a credit card and found that they did not currently have eftpos access because of the change of owner.
Paul stated they would have it late this week, and offered to hold a case aside for me. I offered to put money down for it, and he said not to worry about it, and he would give me a call when they got eftpos.
A friend of mine offered to go in and pick it up for me today, and I rang the store and spoke to Adrien, who seemed confused about what I was asking before confirming that they did have a case for me.
My friend went in the store and called me back to let me know that they only had 19 boosters, not the 20 of the full case as they had actually opened it and started selling from it.
I asked him to buy the rest of the case for me anyway as there's no other option to try and purchase Crisis in sydney at this time, but this is the last time I'm planning to buy anything from this store.
As I said, just wanting to get this off my chest.

The email newsletter said Uneasy Alliance, so that's what I edited the post above to match.

Here's the next few HeroClix tournaments at SGC:
Sunday 23rd of March - Death and Rebirth!
Superman has been killed by Doomsday, but it's only a matter of time before he comes back... if you can survive that long!
400 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is not in effect.
The highest-point character on your force begins the game off the map, on his first KO click. At the beginning of each player's turn, heal him one click of damage. When the dead character has been healed to his first click, you can immediately move him to any legal square on the map.
SGC will be open as normal on Easter Sunday.
followed by...
Sunday 30th of March - Extraordinary Day!
Some days just aren't meant to be ordinary.
300 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is not in effect.
You must choose and record four different Battlefield Condition cards on your team sheet (rather than the normal three). Each game, you may secretly choose any number of BFCs (between 0 to 4) to play that game.
Once you have played a BFC, you can't use it again that tournament.
and then...
Sunday 6th of April: The Infinite Map!
Time and space have been warped, and now enemies can come from all sides...
400 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is not in effect.
From the beginning of the third turn, the edges of the map wrap. That is, characters can move from the last square of a row to the first square of the same row as though they were adjacent.
and then...
Sunday 13th of April: Bizarro/Backwards Dials!
Heroes have lost their strength but may regain it as they are wounded... everybody is struggling against the effects of Bizarro World!
400 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is not in effect.
At the begining of each game all figures will start on their last click of life. The dial of a character who takes damage from any game effect is clicked counter-clockwise until they pass the green line (reaching KO). Once this happens they are KO'd.
The dial of a character who is healed by any game effect is clicked clockwise.
The focus of these tournaments is on scenarios that keep things fresh and encourage people to try different teams rather than the same-old same-old, but without too many actual build restrictions. It should make it easier for you to build your force at home and not worry that it will be illegal.
Fin Fang Foom: There has been a bit of back-and-forth between the venue and the judge about how and when to run this (I think I've earned the "Herald" keyword...). The date for this tournament is tentatively Sunday the 27th of April, from 12 noon (four rounds). We're looking at a 300 point restricted tournament (no retired figures) with something to spice it up in later rounds - players may optionally buy any one booster from the store and add some of the figures as "reinforcements" to their force (exactly how this will work will be determined).
More details will be made public as soon as they are confirmed, but please feel free to express your opinions in this thread. We want as many people as possible to come and participate!

Last Sunday was won by Rachel! Other teams played included Mr_Nobody's Flash team (Crisis Flash and a bunch of Kid Flashes) and Sgt_Grime's X-Factor team. My Gotham City thematic team came in last!
This week is the Extraordinary Day tournament (300 points).

Last Sunday was won by James H, who in the very last turn of his game against me managed to KO Green Lantern (Hal from justice League) by rolling a 10 with Power Girl, thus gaining his first KO and winning the game for the Birds of Prey! Leaving the Justice League of America in second.
It sure is wacky to have six battlefield conditions in play at once... especially on the space map.
This Sunday is the Infinite Map, 400 points.

Next week, Sunday the 4th of May - Comic Accurate Teams!
400 point constructed tournament.

Two rounds, two battlefield conditions.

For May we've got a set of "Crisis-themed" tournaments. These three tournaments are high-point battles that allow players to bring out the biggest heroes and baddest villains, including colossal figures, but with a few twists to keep things interesting and avoid the tried-and-tested old strategies from dominating the field. :)
Sunday the 11th of May: Alliances Tested!
Part One of three high-point clix crises! Only the most dedicated of super teams have a chance to fight with their normal effectiveness, but with the threat of colossal perils on the horizon, they must try...
600 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is not in effect.
Your force must be all-heroic or all-villainous.
Characters cannot use any team abilities unless they are adjacent to a friendly character with the same team symbol.
:star::star::star:
EDIT: Alliances Tested was won by M.O.D.O.C. and Fin Fang Foom!
Sunday the 18th of May: Plans Unravel!
Part Two of three high-point clix crises! The plans of heroes and the schemes of villains alike aren't going as expected. Your preparations may turn against you, but if you think fast you could find an unexpected edge...
600 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is not in effect.
At the beginning of each game, your opponent chooses which of your unused battlefield conditions you must play that game (he must choose one).
Outwit cannot be used counter powers possessed by opposing characters. Instead, Outwit can be used to counter a single opposing feat until the beginning of your next turn. Other rules for Outwit apply normally.
:star::star::star:
Sunday the 25th of May: Cross-Universe Crisis!
Part Three of three high-point clix crises! With foes such as the Anti-Monitor, Lord Foom, and the Devourer of Worlds rampaging across reality, only one universe can survive...
600 point constructed tournament.
Retirement is in effect (restricted environment).
All of the characters on your force must belong to the same universe (all Marvel, all DC, or all Indy).
Once per turn when you declare an attack (but before the roll), you can choose to have the attack deal penetrating damage if it succeeds.
:star::star::star:
These line up with the final three weeks of the American Crisis events, and thus the tournaments have the same point totals, but are a little less vanilla. If we ever actually get the Crisis tournament maps then we could certainly play on them (bit of a long shot at this point). The Anti-Monitor set also comes with a pretty cool map. :classic:
