Anyone know of any other Heroclix that are australians?

I can only think of Pyro and Boomerang. I think the Captain Boomerang clix is descended from an australian (maybe).

Bishop is supposed desended from Gateway, making him a little bit australian. Any others?

Any characters that they could yet make who are australian (at least a little bit). As far as I know there aren't even very many aussies in comics, little own in clix.

Wasn't Shaman from when Wolverine was Patch in the Australian outback?

I read somewhere that Skullbuster is suposed to be Australian, I don't know the character comic wise so don't know if it true.

It's really tough - there aren't a lot of Australian characters in comics, and most of them haven't been clixed yet.

You could go with a force of X-Men from when they lived in the Outback, though.

The original Boomerang who copped it in Infinity Crisis was your quintissential Australian stereotype character. Shaman is most definately a Canadian shaman. Skullbuster - there have been so many that one could well have been...

I am an Australian, born in Hong Kong of Macanese (Macau) descent so Domino REV (Hong Kong) and Batgirl U (Macanese - the DC boys called her Macauan) cater for my pre-continental roots. The only Clix that is Australian being missed by everyone maybe as his recent movie appearance was implying a background contrary to his comic book history. Pyro, of the Brotherhood, was born is Sydney, Australia.

Regards all.

hmmm I can't remember who I was meaning then... thought it was shaman... I'll have to dig out my old X comics now

His background in the X-Men films was entirely different... but it was probably too convoluted to make the movie!

I think they need to get around to making the Tasmanian Devil, from the Global Guardians and also a member of JLI.

I can't be the only person geeky enough to get a grin over the fact that the JLI had an embassy in Australia that he was stationed in.

Admittedly I think it was destroyed with the rest of Melbourne when the Invasion! event happened in 88-89, but there was still the geek thrill.

Sure, he's just another low level brick with claws, but dammit, he'd be an Australian brick with claws!

The website bio for the X-men 2 movie mentioned that Pyro was born in Australia. :) That's as far as it went though.

Lord Shaper, I think you are thinking of Gateway- the australian aborigine mute mystic teleporter....heh.

Yeah - Gateway is the telporting aboriginal hero.

Sorry about not noticing Pyro, Wakandaman was on the ball and ZC too. I have found a few references to home-grown heroes (published here) but not to any more Australian characters from the US majors. There must be more... apparently we had a Captain Atom for quite a while.

That link didn't work for me, does anyone else have that problem?

They moved it or something. On the page that it links to click Search and then type in Australian Comic Characters and you will get the article.

That worked for me (but the last link worked for me too... before:rolleyes: ).

OK,

That Monash University article was taken offline and I actually thought it was quite worthwhile. I am not impressed... so I did a little research.

A super-short overview of Australian Comic '94 is cached here:

Ah.. but Tasmanian Devil is so much more...

The Wikipedia Entry (go the alternate origin!):

Tasmanian Devil is a member of the Justice League Europe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_League_Europe). The team was based in Paris, France (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris%2C_France). There is no relationship between the character and the Looney Tunes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looney_Tunes) character (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasmanian_Devil_%28Looney_Tunes%29).

History

Hugh Dawkins is a born metahuman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metahuman) with the ability to turn into a supernaturally large and intelligent Tasmanian Devil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasmanian_Devil), in a fashion similar to a werewolf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werewolf) (An alternate origin, claiming that Hugh's mother was a were Tasmanian devil who raised him in a Tasmanian devil cult, which gave him a Tasmanian devil amulet after selling his soul to a Tasmanian devil and injecting him with a radioactive Tasmanian devil musk from a race of alien Tasmanian devils which gave him his powers, has jokingly been offered). While Hugh was a pacifist, his alter ego of the Tasmanian Devil was aggressive and bestial. His parents had a hard time with him until he saved his father's life.
He became a superhero in Tasmania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasmania) until he was contacted by a man named Doctor Mist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Mist) to join the Global Guardians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Guardians) where he fought alongside them until their base was destroyed and the team disbanded.
Dawkins later joined the Justice League International (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_League_International) after helping to rebuild the Justice League Embassy which had been destroyed during the Invasion. It was revealed that Hugh is openly gay in Justice League Quarterly #8. After some time missing, he was shown attending the funeral of Sue Dibny (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sue_Dibny), wife of the Elongated Man (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elongated_Man), in 2005.
In 2006, as of Green Lantern #10, Dawkins is shown once again as a Global Guardian.

[There is a cool thread on the DC message boards from June 2004 (http://dcboards.warnerbros.com/web/thread.jspa?threadID=54123140&messageID=54158677)during Identity Crisis thing. He appears twice in the funeral sequence. The thread is hilarious as it regards bad (bad bad) continuity issues but the Tasmanian Devil Isn't Dead! thing just keeps popping up...]

The only thing I can think of would be if they made an Indy Collector's set of the Southern Cross but I think I was reading that book back in the late 80s. And I am in the middle of moving so I don't think I can even look up the publisher.
