Sorry bout the delay- thought Zero's internet was back.

Tomorrow is 600pts, 3 actions per turn, all teams must contain an even number of figures.
Players get 1/2 their figures (randomly picked) in there starting zone in round 1, with the other half of their figures appearing in round 5- second deployment occurs anywhere within a figures base movement of their starting zone, but not adjacent to an enemy figure.

Hi All,

I'm planning on coming along next week (the 27th) If the format is Golden age 400 points then I've a team otherwise can I borrow one. (Unless it's sealed of course)

I really hope it's on even if it's the day after Australia Day - It's been over three weeks since I last played clix and I'm getting twitchy :)

Ahh, this is a very different beast to how Sgt Grimes described it.

This is why I don't trust him.

Well, that and his well known love of the male of the "Gallus gallus domesticus"

See you tonight.

I'm sure it will be one, and I'll push for the 400pts GA game for you.

Worse comes to worse, there's normally a few spare teams floating around.

And what's the format for next week?

Hi All,

I walked up to the Tin Soldier today, so I know where it is.

What time does the game start of thursday? Is there anywhere near by to grab a snack?

I should be free from work by about 17:30 - Anyone fancy meeting up before the game?

Actually while I'm asking for advice - any suggestions for Australia Day? My current plan is to lie-in and then wander around the Botanic Gardens and see what's happening - any other suggestions?

I'm staying about 10 mins from the Tin Soldier (not planned but very handy!)

making things easy on ArakisLSN, thursdays game is 400 pts GA.

generally I advocate getting in by 6pm, so the first round can get started by 630.
that said im usually there much earlier, and so are others.

far as nearby food... there's choice paralysis in that part of the city. but snacks for during game I usually get from town hall woolies

Thanks to everyone at the Tin Soldier!

I had a great evening, my rogues team didn't fair to well (at all) but everyone made me feel welcome.

As I said if you ever find yourselves in Bournemouth, ir even in just Southern England then we'll have a return match!

Glad to have you there. It's good to find out what others are playing.

Mr_Nobody
02/01/2011, 06:10
oh and im told this weeks game is
200pts- team must be made of exactly two figures one of which is less than 50% the cost of the other figure, but no feat cap.
(so the most expensive your figs could be is 132pts and 66pts, or you could play a 2 pt pog and a 1 pt pog (with an absurd amount of feats).

or

an actual sealed.
no really it might finally happen.

and noone had to kick me to post this.

So after a devastating win by yours truly, next week's forecast is for 400pts comic accurate (with slight chance of sealed).

(with slight chance of sealed).

After the email sent out yesterday by Tin Soldier, I imagine that there's no chance of a sealed.

Mr_Nobody

Im still looking for a new venue to host us on Thursday Nights, so alas- no game this week.
Hopefully I'll have a suitable venue hooked up for us by the start of next week

Good Games has said we can use the Sydney store and will provide prize support.

So, any evolution over the past 48 or so hours... to Good Games or not to Good Games...?

I work pretty much across the road so it is an awfully convenient choice...

the ballarat goodgames is a great place to play clix, they supply the le prizes and get the stock in and are very friendly people. anyone who lives near ballarat should go there to play clix.

I confirmed with Drew at good games sydney yesterday, and with James. We'll be playing there tonight,300 pt teams, no special rules.
See you there!

Yes, I crossed paths with Mr Nobody about to enter GG's the night before last.

How did things go...

Also, when I enquired at (the NEW - large, upstairs, table-laden) Tin Soldier in Penrith about Heroclix, yesterday afternoon, their reply was that they stocked it once but the company went out of business or something.... Ah... So, the Tin Soldier/Heroclix relationship has now faded to the digital realm where, sadly, their competition is legion.

They were good times on York St though.

Yeah i tried with tin soldier and the penrith club to get something happening with heroclix for ages. They never stocked it or showed any interest in it at all really which is strange when the city store did so much. But oh well, that's why i just stayed at Unlimited hobbies.

Hi,

Unless the judge, or somebody, starts updating this topic regurlarly, and a lot earlier than the day of the game, I imagine that 'clix is probably on it's way out.

As a lot of players are coming to the games straight from work, or they are unable to access this site from work, putting the format for the week's game up at 10 on the morning of the game is just pointless.

Have you noticed how much the player base fell away after Sim_James lost internet access and the formats weren't being put up late, sometimes not until the day of the game?

I don't see this trend changing unless an effort is made by the Judge to inform the players earlier of what's happening. At the moment it gives the impression that the judge doesn't care about the game (which I don't believe to be true) and if he doesn't care, why should people make the effort to get there?

Cheers,

Mr_Nobody

Those are all really quite valid points.
and of course the closing of the city store didn't really help matters.
the relative silence online of late though has mostly been due to our struggling to find a suitable replacement venue.

last week we tried gaming in the Good games city store, but I don't think it really has the free space to work as a clix venue.
The staff at the burwood venue are apparently happy for thursday night clix to happen there as well as MODOC's sunday tourneys, but there is some concern about peoples abilities to get to a venue not in the city on a work night.

That said I have recently discovered that I am going to have to work late tomorrow, so wont be able to make it for some release day tournament action anyway.

Hopefully when Mattley gets back to regular work (having just broken his leg) we can start playing in the parasites upstairs area. Its right across the road from Kings, where many of us buy our clix.

I have checked with O'rance, and he's good to judge tomorrow, so the plan will be 300pts sealed Giant size X-men, from 6:30, at Good Games Burwood.
The store is a short walk from burwood station.
Woot! See you all there:D

I want to stress that this frustration is only about the timeliness of information lately. By all measures you are, and have been, a tremendous judge, going above and beyond in the majority of areas to ensure that the players are having a good time, and generally making it fun for people.

This is me blowing off steam over a single matter that has bugged me for the last few months.

Hear, Hear!

Yes, I am with Thanoseid. As I said before, TS, York St - good times!

I have issues even making the odd night so I definitely agree that without at least a few days notice it is very difficult to be be prepared (or even enthusiastic) to be at any event going straight from work :m-boot:, especially when work ends at 6pm.

Has GG Burwood definitely got stock in for the sealed?

What's happening if they don't have?

Still plays quite regularly, but cant be online all the time fixing the tags on peoples threads, since his only realms access is his smart phone

For those people who knew him but have not already heard -

A week ago Zero_Cochrane aka James ORance, died.
After complaining of an upset stomach the day before, he simply collapsed in his home and was unable to be revived. He was 34.

His passing leaves a large hole in the Sydney gaming scene, as he was a well regarded game master on the con circuit.

He was especially important in the local clix scene. During the year when clix was dead, he traded and purchased old LE's from overseas to ensure we maintained a good supply of prize support to help keep the game alive. Im sure most of us Sydney clix players have fond memories of ORance, who always had a smile and cheerful words to share.

He was due to be the best man at my wedding, and I miss him greatly. It was excellent to see so many clixers at the funeral, I know his family were surprised and touched by the large attendance.

Goodbye James.
You are sorely missed.

I hope the best for the O'Rance family and please let them know that our thoughts and prayers are with them.

I never met James personally, but he and I have talked and traded on these forums. He was part of a Modding contest I did years ago and HE WON with (if memory serves me correctly) a watchmen custom set he made. I sent a CUR of Crisis to him and he used it as prizes (3 weeks: first week- all the commons and the tournament required the participants to use only common figs. Week 2 uncommons- must use uncommons. Week 3 Rares- must use rares) for his venue.

Nothing but respect to the man and his skills. He was a giver (rare in this world), and he'll be missed.

Daaammnnn, my condolances. Wish I'd been in to play more recently to have a last game with him. One of the better guys and opponents to sit opposite of and a good guy to just talk comics with too. Big sympathy to all you guys that knew him better than I.
