Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.
Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.
So, what say you all?
Next Film: ??????
Well, what a task this film had before it. To follow up such an Iconic movie as Jaws is a massive chore, and one that countless sequels have failed to do, be as good as the original. (and what an original this was - only The Empire Strikes Back and The Godfather II have really done the job to follow up their Legendary originals)
That being said, and while this sequel is certainly not as good as its 10 Rated Classic from which it came, its not a bad film overall really. Most of the main surviving cast (and they even mentioned Dreyfuss' character in the film) returned, as did John Williams, to a story that wasnt half bad really.
Years later another shark terrorizes the small town of Amitty, and sheriff Brody is all too familiar with the signs of this towns unwanted, watery stalker. Great White takes on a Killer Whale, the classic water skiier scene, and a pretty suspenseful ending with the series of kids strapping their sailboats together to make one life giving, though all too delicate, life raft.
Not nearly the classic of the original, it was still an entertaining movie nonetheless. Ill give this one a 7.25 / 10, which is alot better than Id give its following two sequels.
6/10.
A serviceable sequel for us Jaws fans, similar enough in character, tone, and style.
Drop 3 points for every sequel beyond this one.
Now I know this is a far cry from the classic original Jaws, but surely more than 2 of us have seen this one.
I do have seen this one, but it was something like 15 years ago or so the last time, I don't remember it very well; is it the the one where the shark attacks kids (or teenagers?) on a catamaran, and get killed by electrocution (chewing a submarine cable or something)?

I'm with drunky. I know I've seen it, but not long after it came out. Haven't been compelled to go back and watch it again, so my memory of it is much too vague to be able to rate it.

yep that's the one.
Jaws and Jaws2 have really gotten me scared of going far into the ocean.
Jaws2 6,5/10 because it's entertaining but just not as great as the first one.
Thanks for the clarification the itsy bit, at least I'm assured my memory still works a little :p...

I like what a previous poster said:
6 minus 3 points for each sequel after......
The first was so good and such a breath of fresh air..... or gasp of salt water.....
The 2nd wasn't bad if there had been no 1st movie it was definitely passable but, like others, I'mn just not that interested in seeing it again and if I don't, I will not regret it.
I watch the Jaws films all the time. Jaws is my favorite movie of all time and I can't get enough of the sequels even though they are garbage. I'll give this one a 6.25 for the reasons already listed by other voters.
6.25/10
