I buy them. I only ask for copies of downloaded comics, specifically the ones I don't buy or have no intention of shelling out cash for. A good example is House of M. There's no way in hell I was gonna buy that mini-series. I'm really glad I didn't, and I copied some scans. ;)

oi house of m is good ha, to other people hehehe well di ko din mashado natripan but i'm stuck na with 6 issues and i'm still looking for issue 7&8 to complete the set, yun din hirap sakin completist ako so kahit napangitan ako kinokompleto ko pa din hehe.

It was just okay for me. The one thing I liked out of House of M was the Spider-man mini-series. Now that, I bought because I liked the premise. I enjoyed it more than the main mini as well. I'm also a bit of a completist, only so that when I dispose of the series that I don't like, it'll be a complete set.

Hehehe that's not always true. Especially if you're a tpb buyer like me. Nakakainis kase yung mga tpb dahil hindi mo pwede ibuklat ng todo, so hindi mo nakikita yung mga art sa gitna part, that's one advantage of the scans (full art, pwede mo pang izoomzoom). Plus, pwede mo pa i print screen isang page, edit it, and you've got yourself a poster/wallpaper hehe and like Gian said, if the real thing sux, then a scan is definitely much better :)

but that's just my opinion, siguro nasanay lang ako sa scans. Although owning a copy certainly has its advantages as well.

Nakakatawa lang dahil comic piracy actually has an inverse effect sa comic industry as compared to other markets such as sa mga music or movies, kase people actually tend to buy more comics that they've read from a scan (parang ako) edit lang: this isn't really proven, but i've read alot about it haha

Actually, reading comic scans has the same effect on me... exciting pa rin... ang disadvantage niya, you can't read it while pooping in the toilet for 2 hours.... hahahahaha... :p Seriously, i've been collecting since high school, na turn off lang ako sa mga crossovers nung early 2000, kaya nag stop ako... pero nagpipique ulit ang interest ko with all the new situations coming out. Pero with all our expenses nowadays, plus heroclix, pag tiyagaan ko muna ang scans. :cool:

well i agree with charlon minulat niya mata ko sa comic scans, tae ka charlon! sa ngayon dahil sa comic scans napabili ako ng mga tpbs ng jsa at nightwing. onga bakit nga ganun mas maiinfluence ka bumili ng comics na nabasa mo sa comic scans. ewan ko din ganon din ako pag nagandahan ako s scans bumibili ako ng totoong book.

eh di laptop! hahaha actually, comic scans are the reason kung bakit ako nag start bumili ng tpbs.. never talga ako naging collector ng comics kahit dati but i do know a bit about the more famous comic book characters. tapos one time nag download lang ako bigla ng scans ng GL Rebirth and nagulat ako na ang ganda na pala ng art ng comics ngayon.. this was around last year lang ata.. hehe so yun, i have been downloading ever since and buying the ones that i really like. at least hindi sayang ang pera sa disappointing comics diba? pero shempre minsan gusto mo lang tlaga mag impulse buy ng mga tpbs so tlagang nakaka bili ng mga hindi okay. hehe

True, but it does have its advantages. I mean you have to start somewhere and most people who do get the scans started from buying comics as well.:)

It does save time and money. You just have to know where to get the scans. Useful din siya kung hindi ka sure about the quality of art or the story. I mean i downloaded Final Night, the art was just horrible *except for Parallax Emerlad night. I saved myself from buying the whole comic.:laugh:

But having the actual comic in your hands is still different i have to admit.

Well, with scans I get to read more stories, and concentrate my money on the tpbs that I really want and still don't have.

I won't buy a tpb of Batman: Hush even though I like it because I have it saved on my hard drive. Now, in the event that I lose that data, maybe then, I'll consider buying it in tpb (or the Absolute Hush if I'm ####ting money na ;))

I buy comics and copy comic scans in such a way that I'll get to read more stories without having to pay as much.

Hehe mahirap talaga pag lumang comiks, ang hirap maappreciate. Pagnabasa mo e makikita mo talaga that we've come a long way hehe hindi lang sa art, pati ung story at dialogue. Kanina ko lang binasa ung secret wars, sobra nakakatawa kase puro stating the obyus, tapso si reed parang ineexplain pa lahat, yung mga line pa nila e puro "it's as if ganyan, or it's like ganon" mga metaphorical ekek. Pero ayos pa ren kase naglalaban lang sila lahat yahoo :)

Dati rin sinubukan ko download ung mga lumang marvel, kase plano ko bilhin ung mga Essentials (avengers essentials, xmen essentials) kaso pag basa ko di ko rin kinaya, nakakatawa ung mga fight scene nila at mga sinasabe hay.

You must be talking about the Red Tornado cover. Yeah, it is pretty awesome. I saw it last august in the solicitations and I've been using it as an IM image or as a wallpaper ever since. :classic:

I assume you read the Newsarama interview as well. They did say it may ship earlier than that. It's just that when you re-solicit a book, the earliest that Diamond would allow the solicit is 4 months.

Yeah, it does suck, as well as All-Star Batman & Robin's delay. I wouldn't have realized that only 1 issue was released this year if I hadn't read that interview.

I kind of expected the guy to burn out. These are what's on his plate as I've observed over the year.


I see Jim Lee variant covers from Skye Runner to Red Sonja and even some major Marvel & DC stuff.
He's working on the art for the upcoming DC MMO game, which is a pretty heavy task by itself.

I agree. Totally worth the 1k I payed for. This book inspired a lot of stories and writers, and most try to write stories that would live up to it. A lot of writers are still trying to write "the next Watchmen" up to this day.

Well the new Cyberforce did have an evil Ripclaw, which really turned me off. Plus, if you haven't been keeping track of the characters, it's hard to get started with a new series when everything is so unfamiliar from what you originally loved about Cyberforce.

I'm currently feeling a lil disappointed at mainstream marvel.. gawa lng cguro nung civil war delay.. The new avengers series was a big disappointment in general (been collecting till issue 25).. The breakout arc was over the top fun but bendis really sucks and I'm through with his work. :sleep: Flameheads should really check out the ghost rider ongoing.. ganda pramis! I'm looking for a new ongoing to collect these days.. maganda b yung batman? JLA astig e.. Any cool spiderman or xman arcs recently? With all the decompressed stories thrown around these days.. baka mg TPB na lng tlga ako.. padalhan nyo ako ng scans pls!!! hahahaa.. paburn na lng kung sino ang willing:)

I would say yes, give it a try. I'd buy it if it weren't for money constraints. It's written by Gail Simone (Villains United, Birds of Prey) and drawn by Talent Caldwell (Wildcats:Nemesis). Personally, I'm a fan of Gail's work so there may be a little bias in this post. Instead of her Gen13 reboot, I'm going for Tranquility, her other Wildstorm title which'll debut (or has it already) sometime this month or December. :p

Nonetheless, 2 issues are out already, you might want to check em out and see for yourself.

Just read the Cable & Deadpool issues #1-17 from the link that darkjacen posted. I actually like the book. I never really cared for Cable. And Deadpool was cool, but never really grabbed my attention. But this book really entertained me and got me to care about these characters, especially Deadpool. His banter is funny, and the missions aren't silly. Hope to find the rest of the issues, I really want to read the rest. :cool:

Any one has inputs on Ultimate fantastic 4/x-men comics? it got my attention. I'm familiar with the ultimate x-men but the U fantastic four is new to me.

For me, Ultimate F4 is right up there with Ultimates, if not better, at times better hehe art pa lang panalo ka na, although yung recent issues nagpalit na ata ng artist so medyo bano ung art.. EDIT: oh ya, dito ren pala yung first appearance ng mga marvel zombies, the best storyline so far for this title, unfortunately, yung marvel zombies mismo, wasn't as good.

I think Justice #8 just came out. I'm not picking it up anymore, so I'm not really sure. I'm waiting for the trade for that one.

Wildcats 2 will be out next year. Jim Lee stated in Newsarama that most of his books, including AS Batman & Robin will be out around Feb & March due to his own fault in meeting deadlines.

All-Star Superman will be out January as well.

As for the rest, I have no idea. :p

Well the Ultimates Universe was created so that the younger readers could get a new storyline that was similar to the Earth 616 (current marvel). It was supposed to be simpler than the chaotic 616 storylines with all the mergings of alternate realities like that of t Age of Apocalypse, and the weird if not interesting Exiles.

And technically Kitty Pride and the young Spidey are just dating (bah like that's an excuse:p ) She was originally with Bobby Drake but since Rogue now has the power of gambit, she and he became an item again. Yup weird:knockedou

I think Ultimate Spidey's reason is he didn't want any dead girlfriends. He didn't want to endanger MJ, especially after Gwen Stacy's death. He thinks that by dating an X-Man like Kitty, she can take care of herself much better against villains than MJ. The fact that they can make out on and off the job is a plus. :laugh:

basically un Bullet point parang sinasabi nila na 1 bullet can alter the course of history, so sa bullet point parang ganun nanayari.

for example Steve rogers in bullet point volunteered to becoms a test soldier pero not for the super soldier serum pero to become Iron-man. Uncle ben is a soldier gurading the ironman experiment ata then he gets shot. si peter parang na traumatize sa nanyari he walked in sa gamma ray experiment or something so peter instead of being bitten by a spider was dozed with gamma radiation and becam the hulk. so far yan ang alam ko nanyayari hehe

read this in a site dedicated to john byrne and his works...
mga aborted storylines na gawa nya pero never saw print. galeeng ng kanyang "end of galactus" story, eto (quoted from byrnerobotics.com):

"How did "The Last Galactus Story" end?

JB: At the virtual End of the Universe, Galactus is confronted by a Watcher. This Watcher turns out to be the same one who witnessed the "birth" of Galactus in our universe. The Watcher (not Uatu) was eventually driven mad by the accumulated guilt he feels for the acts of Galactus. He has been trying to move galaxies to somewhere Galactus cannot find them, but has been destroying them in the process. Galactus and the Watcher battle -- a huge cosmic confrontation that stretches over centuries, as the universe falls into near total entropy. Finally, to defeat the Watcher, Galactus sucks all the remaining energy out of the Universe. Nothing is left but Galactus and his loyal herald, Nova. Realizing at last what his purpose is, Galactus cracks the seal on his suit, starts to remove his helmet, and in that instant all the energy he has absorbed explodes out of him. He becomes the "big bang" of the next universe, and when the smoke clears, we see Nova has been reborn, as that universe's Galactus.

Incidentally, back when I was first approached about Marvel's "The End" project, I was asked to think about "last issues" for the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. One of the things that occured to me was using this as a way to finally finish the Last Galactus Story. Goes like this:

One day, out of a clear blue sky, literally, Nova falls into the heart of Manahattan. The FF go to investigate. They find her, and after a bit of trouble deciphering what she is saying they realize she has come from billions of years in the future. Reed's "universal translator" was having problems with her speech because she was speaking English, but English distorted by billions of years. Anyway, she finally tells them what's going on with Galactus and the rogue Watcher, and the FF race off to use their captured version of Doctor Doom's time machine to speed to the future and try to help Galactus. (Reed, you see, being Reed, has already figured out what Galactus' purpose is in the scheme of things.)

Uh oh! Using Doom's time machine alerts the good Doctor to what they are up to, and he goes after them. Pretty quickly he figures out what is going on, and realizes this is a perfect opportunity to steal the power of Galactus for himself. The universe may die in the meanwhile? What cares he?

So, of course, the FF end up battling Doom, who is doing all kinds of things to try to get Galactus' power, while Galactus is busy himself dealing with the rogue Watcher. Finally the good guys -- which includes Galactus in this case -- win, But Ben and Nova both die heroically in the process. Galactus wonders what it was all about, what it was all for. Reed tells him. Galactus understands. The FF (what's left of them) start to head back to their time machine with Doom as their prisoner. Galactus calls after them. "Leave him!" Moment of tension, but Reed agrees. The FF return to the present, and just as they wink out they see Galactus open the seals on his armor and begin to release all his stored energy.

The three are back on Earth, in the present. They mourn Ben, but they resolve to continue to fight the good fight, in his honor. The Fantastic Four are no more, but the Three shall fight on! Sue wonders what Galactus wanted Doom for.

Cut to somewhere, somewhen else. Energies roil. A Universe is aborning, and at its heart we see a great cosmic "egg" akin to the one that once gave birth to Galactus. It opens, and Galactus rises from its midst -- but when he turns to us, we see he now has the face/mask of Doctor Doom. Like a certain other human we all know, Doom is about to learn that "with great power must come great responsibility'. (2/15/2005)"

"In response to the revelation of an outline of planned storylines for UNCANNY X-MEN through issue #150:

JB: Something that jumps out at me is the "death of Mariko" referece. That was going to be a hugely powerful story. In fact, when this list was made, with the death of Phoenix not even in the cards yet, it was probably the most powerful story we had planned.

I'm going to break one of my own rules here, since I have, at one time or another, discussed most of the details of Mariko's death as I had worked it out. So here it is all together, for those who haven't seen it before (and even those who have):

Sabretooth attacks Mariko as a way of getting to Wolverine. He brutalizes her beyond imagining. (Nothing sexual. This is sheer animal violence.) He leaves her for dead, torn and bleeding in a alley.

But she isn't dead, and the X-Men, tracking Sabretooth, find her. They race her to a hospital, and over the next several issues she lies in a coma, on life support. Other things occupy the X-Men's time for a while, but their thoughts keep coming back to Mariko. Wolverine returns to her bedside as often as he can. Her condition remains unchanged.

Finally, he can take it no longer. He begs Jean and Xavier to do something, to save her. Xavier scans her and makes a sad discovery. She is brain dead. Only the machines are keeping her alive.

Wolverine refuses to believe it. But Jean links his mind to Mariko, and he feels the emptiness where her soul used to be. He asks to be left alone with her.

Xavier and Jean depart, to wait outside. Wolverine sits by Mariko's beside, holding her hand, stroking her hair. He rises. He looks at the machines that are maintaining her life functions. In a sudden, swift movement he pops his claws and slashes the power cables. The machines fizzle and shut down.

Outside, in the hall, Jean and X have both "felt" what has happened. They move toward the door, but Wolverine comes out before they can enter. He stands for a moment in silence, looking at them. Finally he speaks. "She ain't meat," he says softly. And in an instant, he is gone, disappearing down a stairway.

One good thing that might come out of Civil War is the new Thunderbolts line-up. I thought I was going to ignore this book despite the new additions, but after finding out that the new character Penance is *SPOILER* Speedball trying to redeem himself for Stamford, I might give this book a try for maybe four issues.

Supes was burned out and kind of loat his powers after his fight with Superboy Prime. I think it was the effect of going through a red sun. Not sure about the other two, but the way I see it, they took the time off to review their scripts so they'll know what their new origins and histories are. :laugh:

I also like the fact that when fighting one, you really don't know what you're up against. Unless you break that nanotech-based candy-shell, you'll never know if you'll find a soft young girl or a hardened criminal inside. Either way, you'll have a hard time going all-out in fighting them because you know that there's someone innocent inside.

It had it's cool moments as well, but I won't spoil them here as a courtesy to the others. Think of it as the calm before the storm. It's a setup chapter, while the last issue is when the $h!t hits the fan.

It's almost over. I'm waiting for the hardcovers. Vol.1 is already out, it'll be just a few more months before the last half is released. A story like Justice deserves to be preserved in hardcover and sit next to Kingdom Come and Watchmen in my shelf :p. My suggestion is you should wait for the trade.

The Symbiote is still going to be with Mac Gargan in Thunderbolts. FYI, the artist of the new New Avengers is Philippines' own Leinil Yu. I like his art. Especially since I've seen it evolve. Galing nga ng distinction ng art style between New Avengers and Mighty Avengers. Kinda captures each team's mood and tone. :)

It is set in the future pero there's a lot of traditional japanese elements in the costumes, settings, etc. Mapapabilib ka talaga sa designs niya ng mga robots, cyborgs, futuristic vehicles, etc. Grabe talaga ang details!

Serenity rocks simply because it is a Joss Whedon creation. But if it's true that Leinil designed the ships as well, that makes it even cooler. :cool:

Exiles is an on-going series, that's way past 80 issues na. You know how the Marvel Universe has a multiverse full of alternate realities? Take 1 or 2 characters from each reality, preferrably X-Men related, put them together as a team who jumps from one reality to another (a la TV's Sliders) so they can repair each universe and right anything wrong in that Universe. Some characters like Blink and Sabretooth are from the Age of Apocalypse, while the others are guys like Spider-Man 2099, an alternate Heather Hudson, Morph, Mimic, and right now, Psylocke is included. It's kind of fun. I read an issue or two here and there if I find a copy on sale. Check out the back issue bins of Filbars for some cheap copies para you can try it out.

guys a little piece of advice lang..sa mga scans niyo check niyo first for viruses yung mga folders..meron kasi mga cds from shops na may hidden files! scan the comic file for viruses..most probably yung folder ung may tama kaya pagmagcopy kayo files lang wag un folder..i think??ewan kung tama un!

Hehe joke lang, but considering how many shops sells scans for lazy people (hehe like me back then...) you won't have to go through that.
But just for anyone else who might encounter that problem. It's probably a hidden file. instead of copying the entire folder as you'd normally do,. select the comicscans. The hidden file if ever will only appear if you enter folder options and select view all including file extensions. So just copy the comics instead.

Harold, GL Kyle changed costumes at least 4 times na, one was the original one he had while still with Titans/JLA,second when he embraced the Ion power(Ion Saga, GL 142-150 ata), the third was when he brought back the guardians with his Ion power( the one featured in his clix form) and the most recent was when he inherited the starheart power of Jade (Rann-Thann war). When Gian's done with the GL scans you can borrow them!

Come to think of it you have a point arthur, c GL Kyle doesn't need the ring anymore. But diba he only became Ion (again) after Infinite Crisis?

Most sites that have downloadable scans DO have viruses. Including the Ultimates CD you lent me Anton. ;) You can clean it manually as well. Just open the archive, either in zip or rar form, then delete whatever exe file you seen inside. If it's not a jpg or gif, delete it, because it's definitely a virus. I spent my Christmas vacation cleaning almost 80 issues worth of X-books scans before I could read them.

don't take it personally bro hehe..but at the moment that you opened the folder the virus starts to spread so i guess you would have to clean it first..

If its the Soraci virus, it targets all html files in the computer. worm siya. it took me months to find anything able to fix that, the most anything could do was to quarantine the darn file. I lost a lot of html files for my Java programs to that. Hehe don't worry i don't take things like that personally. Viruses are something we have to go through to enjoy torrents and such.

Avengers vs JLA wasn't THAT bad. At least not as bad as the Marvel vs DC crossover that spawned the Amalgam Universe.

Ultimates vs Ultimate X-Men is actually the Ultimate War mini-series. A 4-issue story during the first year or two of the Ultimate Universe, I think. Bitin yung mini-series, as it's all setup, SPOILER WARNING Magneto attacks New York again and frames the X-Men. The Ultimates are forced to go after the X-Men, who are on the run. At some point they decide to join up with the Brotherhood, I think. And then, it says: "to be continued in Ultimate X-Men," so I don't know what happens next. Xstriker, you can get a copy of the Ultimate War mini from darkjacen. I just borrowed his scans.

It's called Ultimate Wars. It was about 4 issues long and ending in the Ultimate X-men. I have the scans of that, if i'm not mistaken it's in the Ultimates Series 1 CD i have. The jist is like what gian said, i'll just give a little more detail!::knockedou SPOILER: Iceman ends up saving the ult X-men's asses, literally freezing a whole area. Colossus goes head to head with Iron man and beats the hell outta him, only a contained tactical nuke stopped him in his tracks. Storm tries to face Thor...didn't work. It continues in "return of the King" where Cyclops informs the ult x-men about where Magneto's base is and oh yeah ultimate Phoenix makes an appearance in Marvel Girls power boost!

Unless you wanna read Ultimate X-men i'd suggest you hold off on that crossover.

Anybody remember Brave New World? Remember the last scene with all the Monitors talking about the anomalies? Nightwing was on one of their monitors, as well as Martian Manhunter and other DCU characters that just got their own series after Infinite Crisis.

I was wondering about that red arrow remark.. so the future is shaping up to be Kingdom Come? or at least parts of KC? so we're expecting a third crisis to complete a trilogy? ang galing ng pagbuild-up nila.. took 3years or something.. ndi ko pa nabasa yung infinite crisis tska identity crisis e..

astig ng DC noh? more than 3 years ata to shape up the crisis stories eh, Mikey better read identity crisis sobrang galing pramis your really missing out, big factor yan identity crisis sa mga nanyari sa infinite crisis. 'im not sure pero even pati un superman of tomorrow and hush intertwined ata lang haha. and yeah some parts of KC lang nga ata ang nagshashape u, kasi jade and ted kord are dead they're suppose to get old sa KC but you'll never know no one ever really stay dead sa comic universe

I have to commend the writers for the excellent job. Considering that DC's characters are more difficult to write than Marvel's (in my opinion anyway). I mean how difficult is it to write a story about a 'super' man and things such as:
- the fastest man alive
- the most powerful weapon in the Galaxy (and it's a ring!)
- a rich guy with issues (and gadgets)
- an ambassador from Olympus
- a kid with powers like Superman

and convince them to like things such as:
- a team of sidekicks
- second to third generation heroes (with colorful costumes pa)
- a green, arrow guy
- an arrogant, asinine hero with a lousy hairstyle
- a janitor from the future
- a man of a thousand talents
- a faceless conspiracy theorist
- an elastic AND slapstick kind of guy
- an elastic AND serious kind of guy

and even tie them all together into one story. Well yeah, some may be contrived but not as much as how Marvel does things now. Don't get me wrong, I still like Marvel, it's just that DC stuff are more unpredictable.

If there's some DC story that I don't like, it's gotta be JLA/Avengers. :p Now that's marketing ####. But I'll try to finish it just for the sake of knowing the ending.

Mikey,
Start with Identity Crisis, then read the four pre-IC minis: (OMAC project, Rann-Thanagar War, Day of Vengeance and Villains United), and then read Infinite Crisis. Even then, you still won't witness everything that happened during the Crisis.

Go to a book sale, or any store that sells cheap back issues that are only a few months old. You can find a lot of the Infinite Crisis tie-ins in their bins for at least 40php. Almost each book has awesome character moments due to the Crisis, and for some, very important scenes that you wouldn't see in the main Infinite Crisis mini.

Of course if somebody here in the realms has the scans, that's a lot cheaper. :p

Anybody have scans of Annihilation and it's mini's? Pahiram naman oh.
