I still get to read new comics, but it's none of the titles I buy. I get to read some New Avengers and other Marvel stuff. One of my agents is a Marvel junkie, and when he brings his comics to work, I borrow them and read 'em while at work. New Avengers rocks, BTW. :cool:

If I remember it correctly, that's the issue where the New Avengers try to hide from the Hand and help Echo. Logan takes them to Silver Samurai's place to hide. Silver Samurai's watching Lindsey Lohan's Mean Girls when they arrive. He and Logan argue, claiming who owes who a favor. Logan turns his back for awhile because he senses something, and Silver Samurai slashes/slices Logan's neck almost completely, then Elektra and the rest of the Hand attack them there.

The story also intermittently shows scenes from when they infiltrated Ryker's and confirmed if Cap was dead, because of what Ms Marvel told Spider-Woman (that Steve is still alive). Turns out it was just a ploy to corner and arrest the NA. (Damn, Tony's a dirty sunovabastiche!!!) Doc Strange unleashes a can of mystical whoopass on them, and each of the MA are hallucinating (i.e. Sentry sees Void, Tony sees Cap, Ms. Marvel sees the Brood, etc), enabling the NA to escape.

The MA go to Dr. Strange's Sanctum Sanctorium, the new base of the NA, which has been mystically altered to look like a future site for Starbucks. No matter what Iron Man and the rest do, they can't find the NA, even though they're right there, standing next to them, albeit just mystically cloaked. This portion of the issue's cliffhanger ends with Iron Man coming back to the house bringing Brother Voodoo along so he can try and uncloak any spells Strange put on the place.

Three years ago, when Variety carried a brief mention of a Spider-Man musical in July of 2004, the news went under the waves without much of a ripple, thanks to either nothing much coming of it at the time, or the combined disbelief of fans.

Turns out, it wasn’t a joke.


According to Playbill (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/107378.html), a reading of the Spider-Man musical will take place in New York City on July 12th and 13th. According to the trade, rehearsals will begin on July 2nd.

As reported in 2004, the production has major muscle attached: Tony Award winner Julie (director and costume designer of The Lion KingTitus) Taymor will direct; Taymor and Glen (The Wooden Breeks) Berger will write the book (i.e., script); U2’s Bono and The Edge will write the music; and Matthias “Teese” Gohl will serve as musical supervisor. Marvel will produce, along with Hello Entertainment/David Garfinkle and Martin McCallum.

A “reading” means that the musical is still in its earliest stages – a test balloon of sorts to attract attention, money, and theater owners to see both if its worth staging, and where – either on or off Broadway.

Among the roles being sought to fill are the young-man-turned-hero Peter Parker/Spider-Man ("male, late teens to early 20's...[with a] great pop/rock voice") and love-interest Mary Jane ("female, late teens to early 20's...[with a] great pop/rock voice") as well as villain Norman Osborn/Green Goblin and Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson (both call for "male, 50s.")

The character breakdowns provide some insight to plot points as the character Arachne ("female, 20-35 years old, any ethnicity") is described as "a beautiful, boastful young woman turned into a spider for her hubris and lack of respect for the gods. She subsequently appears to Peter Parker and the audience as in turn a powerful spider-woman who comes from another time to inspire Peter; an otherworldly lover; a bride; a terrifying (and sexy) dark goddess of vengeance; a dance partner in a charged and violent spiders dance of death; and, finally, a lonely, fragile young woman." Casting is seeking a "strong Celtic, Balkan style, e.g., Sinead O'Connor," noting, "outside the box ideas are welcomed. Could be someone from the music industry."

Also, a "Geek Chorus" consisting of "three teenage boys and one girl" are described to "meet to ritualistically retell the greatest Spider-Man stories.

In WildCats 2.0, Lord Emp "Ascended" into a higher being status. He created an identity for Hadrian (Spartan) and gave him the name Jack Marlowe. They made it look like Jacob Marlowe (Emp) died and the HALO company was inherited by his nephew Jack. Ever since then, Jack has tried to take more covert approaches in saving the world. One of the cooler concepts was "saving the world through commercialism" or something like that. They manufactured batteries powered by a baby universe, so that the batteries last forever. They manufactured cars powered by the said batteries, thus reducing the economy's dependence on oil. These products were some of their ways of saving the world from the grasp of governments and corporations who control the populace by getting all their money. there's still the usual superhero action, but it was mostly really covert mercenary stuff. The new series is supposedly a meld of both the previous volumes and the very first Image superhero volume.

any body has wildcats scan OLD school (image) or NEW school (dc)?? use to read Wildcats back when they came out. mid 90s yata yun. yes i was reading comics then, when i was TEN. he he he

I don't have any scans either. Even though I'm a WildCats fan, I never tried looking for scans because I wanted to own the actual comics & trades. Finding the actual comics is harder than I thought and now I'm looking for some as well, just so I could read them.

Among the arcs in the old-school Image volume 1, I'd recommend Alan Moore's run on the series. #21 to #32 I think.

If its the only title you'll be buying, you might as well try it. It looks interesting, with stories possibly revolving around Mary Marvel, Jimmy Olsen, Darkseid and Ray Palmer, it should make for some good reading. I think they did a good job with 52, and with Paul Dini at the helm of Countdown, I think it could be really good as well. I'm more of a wait-for-the-trade kind of guy with this series, which is what I'm doing with 52. But if you want a weekly fix, it might be worth a shot.

BTW, a new hulk movie is due on 2008. Ed norton(as hulk) and Liv Tyler as Betty Ross. Tim Roth plays the abomination. NEW cast. Possibly no tie in with the Eric Bana-Hulk (good)

Yeah, I saw the articles for that as well. Good call on Ed Norton, a really good actor who's capable of portraying someone like Banner. I heard it's a mulligan as well, they're ignoring the Ang Lee film and starting fresh much in the same way Superman Returns did by ignoring Supes 3 & 4. But what got me thinking otherwise is the backstory for Abomination. They said Banner is on the run, and Tim Roth plays a KGB agent who goes after him and exposes himself to the gamma rays so he can take on the Hulk. I hope it won't be too much of a reboot, because we don't really need to see the origin of the Hulk again. I hope we can jump straight into the story and action, just like Spider-Man 2.

Supergirl's personality was recently "split", into how many, I dunno, how it was done, I dunno, but one of those Supergirl ended up in Earth 2? (not sure kung anong earth tayo). Anyway, I only got this from WW3, which I just finished along with 52 (ang galing 52 pages na tayo). Anyway, didn't like the end much.. IMO they tried to hard to be smart and creative but ended up being boring and repetitive (stop with the multiverse already).

The Titans were "slaughtered" in WW3 hehe

I have no idea as to what happens to Jericho. There are rumors that Cyborg and Raven will be leaving the team and joining other teams, or will be in another team full of former Titans, but not the Outsiders. Well, they're still just rumors, but Sean McKeever, the new Titans writer DID confirm the inclusion of Kara and Jaime in the new TT roster.

Yeah, astig ung issue na yun. But the presence of Batman and Superman in that issue overshadowed the JSA a bit. It was like an issue of JLA instead of JSA, but it's good nonetheless.

I don't think the big three decided to finalize the roster that way, because when Black Lightning was handing Batman the invitation to the League, Bruce said "so that's how you're deciding on the roster? whoever was present in that battle?" or something to that effect.

This looks interesting. I've always had a soft spot for titles that had nothing to do with the the regular universes' contunuity, like books that have no Civil War or Infinite Crisis influence. It's why I'm enjoying Brave and The Bold so much, the lack of any continuity baggage. Looks like Marvel has one of their own as well, but this time written and drawn by Indy creators. Check out the 2-page preview below, with a funny take on Dr. Strange.

SPOILERS THAT HAROLD ASKED FOR: Well, Batman and Hal Jordan investigate a mystery involving the death of a person, who's body ends up in space, Gotham, and in other parts of the world all at the same time, all killed by a gun shot wound in the same spot. This takes them to Las Vegas, where they got a lead as to who this person, or in this case persons were. They encounter Roulette and two aliens, one of which had a probability altering weapon. They throw-down, and one alien is on the run while his partner leaves for space after stealing the Book of Destiny/Fate from Roulette. Batman goes after the guy with the weapon and ends up in Mexico, teaming up with Blue Beetle. In space, Hal enlists the aid of Supergirl to try and track down the alien with the Book, the contents of which contains the future. They get seperated somehow in the planet during a fight with some baddies, leaving GL by his lonesome to go to Rann, which is where the baddy fled to and Supergirl enlisting the aid of Lobo to navigate her way to Rann.

The book is 3 issues in so far, and is written by Mark Waid, and has some really awesome George Perez art that you could spend an hour just looking at the details. :laugh:

Dawg, stick with the Titans when Sean McKeever takes over in issue#50, I think. The new Titans line-up will include Supergirl and Blue Beetle, and Mckeever is known for writing teenaged characters pretty well.

Yup that's wind dancer. Her father took her from Xavier's after M-day seeing as she was no longer a mutant. Funny thought, she was one of the more powerful characters in new X-men.(I'm up to date with that book only, last issue was all about the new mutants being sent to limbo and belasco's back in power.)

marvel's next event looks to be a skrull invasion or something of the likes.. the last pages of New Avengers 31 reveals elektra to be a skrull in disguise.. Bendis has also hinted in newsarama that an Illuminati member may have also been a skrull after they've been captured in the kree-skrull war waaaaay back.. The only good catch about this is it is confirmed that the skrulls were NOT behind civil war or house of M.. they just kinda played a part and said "meh, let the stupid earthlings duke it out.."

I'm still not a big fan of The Retconnati even if I did enjoy the first issue. While this theory of a Skrull impersonating one of them is interesting, it's going to water down the impact and significance of a lot of the great character moments that hero has had over the past decade since the Kree-Skrull war. Can you imagine what it'll do to all the great X-Men stories of old if it were Xavier? Or what about if it were Tony Stark? If this is true, I'd imagine it might be one of the lesser-used members who haven't had that many series over the past years, like Dr. Strange, Namor or Black Bolt. It'd be cool if it were Black Bolt though, which kinda ties into the retcon in issue #2 where they reveal the Beyonder is a mutant Inhuman. Aaaaallll about the inhumans for a change.

Well a skrull impersonating an X-man isn't unheard of. Years back there was a skrull warrior that impersonated Wolverine, and that skrull died, making most of the x-men think wolvie died. To their surprise it changed back into a skrull. It happened during the Twelve Saga (Where Apocalypse tried to use the legendary twelve mutants to give him uber powers.) Hopefully that upcoming storyline will not be so drab as the Twelve saga(Lotta Hype but a disappointment):tired:

Ang dami pa kasing "unfinished business" sa JLU cartoons. For example what hapened to Luthor and Darkseid? What happened to Amazo, when he left Earth because he can't counter attack Grundy? What about the General? He has not faced Supes yet. Tapos, si Grodd, he was thrown to space by Luthor, but surely it's not yet the end for him.

Ang mga tapos na ay sina Vandal Savage, Grundy, Shadow Theif, and Devil Ray (Not Black Manta). Unless i-ressurect sila or something. Tapos si Mongul pa, he's paralyzed but surely he just can't stay forever like that.

Well, the interview was a little vague. A fan asked if those two will ever join the League again, and the answer was there may be something done about that by issue #13 or so.

I also read in Newsarama just now that they might be trimming down the number of characters, stating that Meltzer wanted to do a personal story which is why he was allowed a huge cast of characters. The roster might be smaller than what we have right now.

I just read World War Hulk #1. It was alright. Seeing Hulk carry a badly beaten Black Bolt was just pure beauty. "I didn't come here for a whisper... I wanna hear you scream!"
Tony Stark's monologue was kinda cool as well. I believe this is Marvel's attempt at redeeming him for being a total ######bag for the past year or so. Can't wait to read the next issue.

I also finally picked up my seven issues of Welcome To Tranquility from my friend's comic shop, The Fourth Wall in Buendia. It was well worth the wait and the money. The story of the first arc was good, and Simone's writing truly shine in it as it makes you care about all these "has-been" superheroes and supervillains who've all settled down in the same town. Neil Googe's art is really good as well, and it reminds me a lot of my other favorite new artist, Giuseppe Camunccoli (The Intimates, Captain Atom: Armaggeddon). Try this series out if you need a break from all the typical superhero schtick that we get from the big two.

I wish I could give full spoilers, but I haven't read the issue. Just an interview in Newsarama with the book's artist of all people. If someone actually read or bought the issue, pahingi naman ng FULL SPOILERS. But if I had to guess, judging from Countdown (another book that I only read mild spoilers of), it might've been Trickster and Pied Piper, kasi they've been getting flak from the other Rogues for being friends with Wally. This might be their way of regaining some street cred.

As for Heroes for Hire, they were hired to investigate the murder of one of Hulk's allies and probably got in too deep. I think almost all the books where the heroes are set in New York are bound to be involved with WWH. One issue sports the infamous "tentacle rape" cover with Black Cat and the other 2 girls tied up and looking fearful of some tentacles creeping up at them.

- Iron Man (Tony Stark) - he's what every man secretly wants to be: ridiculously rich, good-looking, loved by the ladies(bang any celebrity chick I want), genius-level intellect, follows his own moral code(and to hell with what everyone else thinks), and has the coolest toys on the planet that he can use to blow a king-sized hole thru any country that looks at him funny. That and he's fearless, too (to be "just a normal guy" and stand toe-to-toe with heavyweights like the Hulk/Thor/Thanos without messing your pants, no matter how great your suit is takes major cajones). And yet he's as flawed as any human with his own personal problems. He's getting a lot of flak these days but mark my words: Marvel's going to make him the biggest hero in their stable(next to Spider-man)right before the movie's out in 2008.

- Kyle Rayner - He was the Peter Parker of the '90s... and he wielded the One of the Most Powerful Weapons in the Universe... now he IS one of the Most Powerful beings in the MULTIVERSE. Now that's something.

- Superboy (LoSH) - back in the '70s and in the new cartoon. Imagine yourself a country boy learning you'll be the Greatest Hero ever and every bad guy in the 30th century gunning to make a name for himself by kicking your tail across the galaxy and you're not at the power-levels they expect you to be.

- Lobo - because he wreaked havoc across the universe, raised a ruckus in Heaven and Hell AND kicked Supes in the nuts

- Shiang Chi - he's the Master of Kung Fu. The MASTER!!!

- Darkhawk - before Kyle, he was the hard-luck teen hero of the '90s

- Robin (Tim Drake) - because unlike Dick or Jason, Tim had to IMPRESS and EARN the Batman's trust and respect before his life became wrought with tragedy. That's some achievement for a 15-year old.

Atom Smasher - really great in JSA, even in 52, sobra lang siyang conflicted, pero a man of his conviction. Plus, he is the only one na talagang friend ng next kong favorite superhero..

Black Adam (OO HERO SIYA TAE) - Unfortunately, pangit nung character niya nung sinaunang panahon, meron kase ako nung origin niya na comics. But now, grabe, sobra astig sa 52, even in JSA, kaya black reign isa sa paborito kong TPB. To me, Black Adam is the epitome of Anti-Hero nyahahaha

Mister Miracle - story wise, konti lang nabasa ko, gusto ko siya dahil naastigan ako sa power niya, I think it's really creative. Plus, ayos din yung background and beliefs niya.

Invincible - He's like Spider-man and Superman rolled into one, and the story is really good. Plus, teammate niya si Monster Girl (an almost favorite) hehehe

Sa Marvel ala.. Pero I really liked Super Skrull in Annihilation. Surfer ok lang din, but there's something about a surfer dude in space that's slightly off hehe

I'm halfway through the first Walking Dead trade by Robert Kirkman. Damn, it is sooo good! I'm amazed at how much I'm enjoying this Zombie book, because it's more about the survivors instead of the gore and violence, though the book has its fair share. Now I'm seriously considering spending some bank on the other trades once I find them.

I'm halfway through the first Walking Dead trade by Robert Kirkman. Damn, it is sooo good! I'm amazed at how much I'm enjoying this Zombie book, because it's more about the survivors instead of the gore and violence, though the book has its fair share. Now I'm seriously considering spending some bank on the other trades once I find them.

If you're gonna dive back into Flash, start on the week of July 18th, with All Flash #1. I think it's just a one-shot that transitions from Bart's series back into Wally's series, which starts again with the original numbering on August.

I finally finished my current stack this morning, and I have to say, this is an exciting time to be a comics fan. I know that the biggest event right now is World War Hulk, while in DC its supposed to be Countdown, but it's the less-hyped events that has me excited the most. X-Men #200 features the return of the Marauders and the first part of Endangered Species, while Sinestro Corps finally reveals its FULL roster of yellow ring-bearers. Both books have left me craving for more, and I fear for my wallet as I'll be spending so much bank on these events in the next three or four months. And that's on TOP of the regular books I'm already getting.

Spoilers for Sinestro Corps: Sinestro's army begins its attack. A group of yellow-ring slingers attack Oa and kill A LOT of the Green Lanterns. Kyle is attacked by a yellow-ring and gets sucked into the Anti-Matter Universe where Sinestro and his crew are based. Sinestro's crew by the way? You may know some of them: Amon Sur, Cyborg Superman, Superboy Prime, and... wait for it... Anti-Monitor. Oh yeah, Sinestro also turns Kyle into the new Parallax. :eek:

Spoilers for X-Men Endangered Species: Beast is desperate to find a way to repopulate the mutant population and reverse the effects of Wanda's "no more mutants" hex. He's asked Reed, Tony and Hank for help, but no one could come close. Now, he's forced to approach villains for help. Among them are Dr. Doom and Mr. Sinister.

un lang talaga endangered species, 8 pages lang per issue. It's a small crossover story that's like a back-up throughout 4 X-titles. Ung mga next pages mga pinup lang.

If you're gonna get Amazing Spider-Man, di ka makakatipid, kasi it's gonna be 3 issues per month pretty soon. The first editor of 52 is taking over that title, and they may be cancelling the other Spider-Man titles to make way for this. Runaways is good, Brian K. Vaughan is writing it. Titans looks interesting because of the new lineup including Blue Beetle and Supergirl. I like Sean Mckeever's writing from the Mary Jane book, so maybe he'll do good with Titans as well.

One book I find interesting is Outsiders. The current series is ending at #50, and will reboot with Batman leading it again, or at least in a more prominent role as he's changing their roster.

I'm really digging it so far. I finished Seed of Destruction and Chained Coffin & Others, which are the first two trades. I'm about to start reading Wake The Devil. When I reach the halfway point of these trades and come out satisfied with them, I just might get the newest Hellboy and BPRD trades when they come out. Mignola's art is really nice. Great look on the Mark I armor, a blink-you'll-miss-it Mark II and the Mark III armor making F-27s look slow.

With the glorious applause during and after the scenes, this looks like a winner. (and, dammit, the booming Black Sabbath- "Iron Man" guitar chorus makes it worth it alone!) :laugh:

That's what the saleslady at ayala powerbooks says - its their anniversary month. So its until August 31. I also think its all outlets because a friend of mine also told me about this sale in another powerbooks store.

Oh by the way, the comic selection at Fully Booked -Serendra is pretty good. Check the basement.

@Dawg - my favorites were, and still are: Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison and Frank Miller. Don't know what they're working on now though. Maybe Marvel 1602 or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen are worth buying.

Dark Tower - An adaptation of Stephen King's novel written by Peter David. Ganda ng art ni Jae Lee and colored by one of my favorite colorists, si Richard Isanove.

Silver Surfer Requiem - mejo mabagal ang story but it's illustrated by Esad Ribic, parang mala-Alex Ross ang style (pero shempre di kasing ganda!)

Immortal Iron Fist is pretty good too. :)

A little of both, but Dan is the one who approves them. Some deaths aren't obscure at all, Connor Kent, Earth 2 Superman and Lois.

There was a running joke in San Diego in one of the panels that any character Geoff handles in one of his stories dies. And since they confirmed that Blue Beetle will be involved in the Sinestro Corps War, the crowd was gasping in shock. Dan, sensing everyone's anxiety said that Geoff isn't gonna kill Jaime. Dan said they love the Blue Beetle book and they're supporting Jaime Reyes, which is why the book will never be written by Geoff Johns. :laugh:

Talaga? I have never seen Hellshock.. I know I have read the Wildcats Trilogy but I can't seem to remember the art. hehe There are some stuff that Jae Lee did that I didnt like so much like the Ultimate Fantastic Four. But I really love the Inhumans and Sentry that he did with Jenkins. Pero talagang step up ang art niya sa darktower!

Well, Jae's art when I first saw it was really "dirty" in a way. The lines were everywhere, not like the Jim Lee type of lines, I'm talking LONG lines drawn all over the place, like in explosions, or shadows. It's hard to explain. Try typing Jae Lee Wildcats Trilogy art in Google Images.

Finally got caught up with Countdown, with the exception of this past week's issue. The story threads aren't as amazing as what I hoped they'd be. The only ones that interest me are the Mary Marvel storyline and the Rogues (Piper and Trickster). I just found out after reading these that Black Adam transferred his power to Mary Marvel, which raises the question, why is he in the Injustice League in the upcoming JLA series if he gave away his powers?

My bet with Jimmy Olsen is that they're going to reveal that all those powers he had in the Golden Age of comics are true. Di ba they used to have some comics where the stories were really silly, like Jimmy gaining some powers for a day and whatnot. Tie it into the multiverse and all that. Plus, how the hell did he know that Red Hood is Jason Todd, and that he used to be Robin!?

The Black Adam mini is going to reveal how he regained his powers after World War III. He lost his powers back then and Billy changed the magic word that he needs to access them. If I remember correctly, it shows what happened between the ending of World War III and when Mary finds him in Gotham.

try downloading one of the files. if there are any files in the rar that are NOT jpegs, delete those if your anti-virus doesn't delete them by itself. Those are the viruses. That's how I check the comics I download. As for the sites, you'll just have to trust and update your anti-virus and anti-spyware software regularly.

I haven't picked up my stack yet so I haven't read the issue yet. But my guess is it's the new Aquaman, the younger one, because they both make the cut in the new roster of Batman's Outsiders.

Nope. After the Tornado's Path storyline he had himself restored back into his android body kasi he felt too vulnerable when he was human. Di man nakaporma masyado against Solomon Grundy, Amazo, etc, kasi his human body was too frail, so he couldn't protect his family very well. He realized this during that story, and it has been bothering/burdening him ever since.

Yeah. Kasi where would they put Grace Choi if she isn't in the Outsiders? I don't see her joining the League or the Society anytime soon. :p

i got hold of sinestro corps special and GL #21..what do you read next? the latter pages told me to read GL #14..un si sinestro nilabanan ung replacement niya..do i have to read that before reading the issue where hal confronts parallax?

No, not really. GL Corps and Green Lantern each follow different portions of the war so far. If you just want to read about Hal Jordan and Parallax, stick with Green Lantern, and you won't feel like you've missed out on anything from Green Lantern Corps. There are some cool moments to be seen in the Corps book though, like Kilowog's fights and Mogo's battles.

Check the DC link I posted in page 61. It may be in Russian, but it has English scans of the Secret Six mini-series. Then go to the Birds of Prey portion to download the last arc that featured the Birds going up against the Secret Six.

He's a Parademon. He never really had a unique name or identity of his own. Parademons are the foot soldiers of Darkseid's army in Apokolips. The one in Secret Six is someone who was exiled and banished from that army I think. So since he's from Apokolips, I guess you could say he's was also a New God. Tama ba guys?

I actually hope that they'd keep that up. having to read several issues just to get the whole story in order can be annoying. Most of the older X-men comics were like that (OZT for instance and The twelve):confused:
