I know I may be asking for it with Rocky II, since only THREE of us rated the original Classic Rocky (myself included), but what the heck lets see how she goes. :)

Is this the one where Rocky is losing the big fight, but then he digs down deep to comeback and win?

Seriously, is this the one with the Russian guy or the one with Mr.T?

Its actually the one with his rematch with Appollo Creed. The one where he actually becomes the Heavyweight Champ. When his son is born and his wife almost dies.

Revisits the same as Original- more anguish- with the time it took for Adrian to come out of her coma-the rest of us sank into one.
Look to future sequels 3,4,5 for at least some originality.
This movie was all about the double dip.
3 out of 10 for music (also the same), and how can you not feel encouraged watching these stories of the underdog.

I don't really like the first one all that much, but the premise of a guy getting a shot out of nowhere and going the distance is at least compelling and somewhat believable. That being said, the idea of him getting a rematch and actually winning as a sequel, is only believable as a way to cash in on the success of the first film. So no love for Rocky 2.

I've always liked this one because it shows how his success ruins him;
he goes out and buys a spiffy car but can't drive it. It's those elements that make this one interesting. yeah, the fight scene is very similar and the music is very similar as well but the effects of instananeous wealth are fascinating. I think Sly may have some personal experience with this one......

Personally, I thought Rocky II was an OK movie. Sure it wasnt the Classic "Underdog Makes Good" film that the original was, but it wasnt a bad movie, and to me was far from a simply a cheap copy or rip off.

This film delved into Apollos harsh treatment from the media after the originals final bout, Rockys harassment from Apollo for a rematch (which he was love to do, as he cant seem to do anything else, but Adrian is totally against it). Adrians problems with her pregenancy, brought on by guilt over stopping Rocky from doing what he loves, and Paulies loud badgerings, and Micky who has gained loads of respect for Rocky since the beginning of the first film, and is ready to train him at a moments notice (or accept his decision to stop if need be)

This wasnt a bad film at all really, and it showed all of the classic Rocky characters in new lights, with new emotions, going thru things we never saw in the first movie. Not to mention this, not the original Rocky, was when The Italian Stallion actually WON the heavyweight belt over Apollo in the final seconds of the fight.

Sure it wasnt as iconic as its original, but it also wasnt a bad film in the least to me. The slugger with a heart of gold finally gets a wife, a son and a title, good on ya Rock.

Not unlike my comments on the Bond movies, the Rocky movies all kind of blur for me. Was never a big fan of the Rocky and it's been forever since I've seen them, so I'm going to have to abstain from this one.

Watched it two days ago, and although this is not really a brilliant movie, it's still fun to watch (like most of Rocky movies... in fact like all Rocky movies (watched the fifth one this afternoon - which I never saw before - and it was fun too :p)). Plus I like Apollo Creed, and seeing him congratulate Rocky at the end of the fight is really cool (damn Drago BTW). Just hope the sixth one will be as good as the five before.

Rocky II is a solid film, I like the whole series and I rate this as one of the best in the series. The story is still solid, Apollo is as cool as ever, the fights are fun to watch. It may not be oscar worthy like the first film but it really has a lot more going for it than people give it credit for.

8/10 I think its a great movie and wonderful continuation from the first.
