So, our next film, Classic or Crud, Hit or Miss, what say you ALL?

Our next film open for discussion, and ultimately an Overall RATING by you all:

SHREK 2
yp6ybgKUEG8

Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.

Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.

So, what say you all?

Next Film: ??????

Yes, I know, many of us truly HATED the original Shrek (a movie I thought was great, very entertaining and loads of fun, myself), but that doesnt mean its sequel shouldnt get a shot at HCR. :)

7/10

A couple of friends and me took the extra effort to find a theatre where the original version (meaning: not translated) was shown when the movie was released, and I don't regret it.

One of the funniest animated movies I have ever seen. I don't care what you say, it was hilarious in my opinion.

I liked it. Antonio Banderas as Puss made the movie. The final battle was full of great gags. Is it a perfect movie, no. But I would certainly recommend it.

8 of 10, just like the original.

Into all sunshine some rain must fall. It was funny and cute but something about it grated on me. Maybe it was trying to be clever and failed?
Life of Brian I thought was clever, but this?.... I don't know......

Personally, I liked enjoyed Both Shrek films, quote alot in fact. Very cool animation, funny and witty comedic lines, great mockery of fairy tale films (while being one itself) and just alot of fun and laughs to go around. I honestly have No Idea why so many of us hated Shrek when I posted it here earlier, but it seems thus far that that isnt happening with its sequel.

I had a blast watching this film, as I did its original, and while I may like the first Shrek just a bit more, this one is still reat fun for both the old and young.

Shrek 2 - 8.50 / 10

CURRENT HCR MEMBER RATING -

SHREK 2 - 7.30 / 10

(5 members rating)

As for the original (which can still be voted on if you havent already):

SHREK - 5.94 / 10

(20 members ratng)

Well, it sure seems like many more of us have seen the original Shrek over Shrek 2 (20 members voting compared to just 5 for this one), but hey, as these are Always Open, you just never know. :)

I enjoyed both films, quite a bit actually. Both are movies made for adults but sold to kids (most kids aren't going to get a lot of the jokes).

8.5/10

I know I'm one of those who blasted the original "Shrek" but for some reason I very much enjoyed "Shrek 2". Maybe it was because the personalities worked better for me this time or maybe it's because the story wasn't quite as cliched or maybe the jokes were just funnier....probably part of it is I'm always a sucker for a good rendition of "I Need a Hero" at the climax of a movie. :) *jk* Seriously though, I really like "Shrek 2" even though I'm one of those who panned the first one.

Vote: 8.5/10

like Shrek a great enjoyable movie 8/10.

I did also really enjoy the 3-D Shrek ride/movie: the Ghost of Farquad.

Bah.

I hate Shrek and Shrek 2. The jokes all just fell flat for me. Stupid cliched jokes...the characters weren't likeable at all...I felt that, for the most part, it just rode on the success of the original Shrek - and rode it further into the ground. The original Shrek, while not something I'd subject myself to a second time, was at least bearable the first time around. I walked out on Shrek 2.

3.25

I'm torn of how to vote. I want to give it a higher rating, but would simply be appauled if Shrek 2 had a higher rating then the original. It was funny, but had all the jokes but none of the charm that Shrek had. I guess my vote would normally be about a 7.5, but if Shrek 1 is only worth 5.94, then Shrek 2 doesn't deserve anything over a 4.5

Wait, so you feel Shrek 2 deserves a 7.50, but youre giving it a 4.50 (dropping it 3 full points) solely because you dont want its overall rating to be higher the the orignal Shrek? And youre being serious about that?

Magnito

No, I am giving it a 7.5, I'm just appauled that it is getting a higher rating the Shrek 1, which is a by far better movie.

Wheeew, you had me worried there Maggie.

Personally I liked Shreks 1 and 2 about the same (which was alot really), and apparently so did you as you gave them both the same score (7.50) Im not sure why the first one was so hated, but hey, to each their own and all that. :)

I only gave the first one a 7.5? Wow, I must have been in a bad mood. It deserve at least an 8.

Trust me, a 7.50 was Generous compared to what most everyone else gave that film.

Ill change your rating to an 8 on that one when I get home.

Make that an 8.5. I watched it again, and really enjoy it still. :)

If this is the case, you really should go and rate the original Shrek here as well. As mentioned quite a few times here, it sure could use the support.

I don't know why I watched this, I hated the first one with a passion and then one night i couldn't sleep and it was on and i was like oh what the heck, I have no idea how i made it all the through, it was like an endurance test just to see if I could like walking on fire but way less funny.

At least give Shrek 1 a 0.5/10 to show is superiority over this sequal.

Actually both of them are counted as 1's, the scale goes from 1 to 10 here, not 0. :)

First Watch: 9/10
Second Watch: 6/10
Actual points: 7.5/10

Its a really really funny movie but once you get past the funny its just really not that interesting of a movie and IMHO doesn't stand up to repeated viewing.
