The police scanner had been first to report it. But this was not a normal disturbance, or at least nothing the boys in blue could handle.

Batman arrived to the Gotham Harbor per his usual way, from the rooftops. From this vantage he could see everything he need to. Joker was at it again. Laughing like a madman, him and his men could be seen knee-deep in water. Whatever he had done, he had flooded the harbor area.

With keen eyes, Batman assesed the situation and did what he did best. He dove into the area, and took Joker's first goon out in one fail swoop.

"You're done Joker, give it up", Batman said grimly.

"Done? HA HA HA! You've no idea what I've done!," Joker yelled wildly. "I've got two underwater pumps, raising the water level and pumping in my patented Joker gas. In less than 3 hours, this whole city will be flooded, and once the water gets in the city's system, there will be nothing they can do to get rid of my poison!"

"You sick twisted.." Batman said

"Enough!" A figure rose from the water. "I can not allow you to poison the ocean OR disturb the natural balance" The figure joined the side of the Dark Knight.

"Batman, you never said you had any friends. I always pegged you as the dark brooding type. Well either way, I planned on you. If those pumps are turned off, they'll automatically dump all the poison strait into the ocean! HA HA HA! I win either way Bat-jerk."

"The King of Atlantis will not have this!"- Aquaman said as he pointed his trident towards the Joker.

Scenario: Batman And Aquaman start on the left side, Joker and squad on the right.

* Special Objects in R-22 and T-18 are the Water Pumps.

--- Batman might be able to change the wiring and put them in reverse. Be adjacent to a special object and make a standard attack roll against a Dv16 defense. If you hit, roll as if the object has Super Senses. If the attack still hits, pumps start working backwards and Joker's plot is foiled.

--- Aquaman might be able to call some valiant sea creatures to work their way inside the pumps and disable them from the inside. If Aquaman has no tokens, he may take a power action. This gives him a range of 6, and he can then put 2 L-Ron pogs anywhere within his range. Treat these Pogs as if they had the JLA TA and are fish creatures. If the fish creatures become adjacent to the object, on the following turn, can take a 0 move action and destroy the Water Pumps (also KOing themself). L-Ron pogs can not attack, but can be attacked by the enemy.

Tie (Pumps destoyed & Villians Escape) - 5 pts
Loss (Neither) - Earn 5 pts (But lose Aquaman)

So am I playing Batman or Joker? I take it the villains only goal is to kill both heroes? When the pumps are shut off I see the villains can escape. How is that done?

In this case, their goal is to proctect the pumps, and remain standing at the end of 15 turns.

Problem, you're in water terrain, which slows you down, movement is cut in half.

Then, charge cuts in half again, so you can only move 2 squares, and you wouldn't reach Aquaman from S-19. Closest you'll get is Q-17

So GL, what do you think of the match thus far?

Do you feel the objectives are too easy for our heroes? Does having the heroes have a goal outside of fighting, make you as a villian, more able to fight off a team that might normally have the power advantage?

What do you think of this type of playing? Any questions on this system?

Easy to understand? To much like RPSC?

Yeah I like the gameplay of the scenario better. I think this particular battle might be alot advantageous to the heroes since both of them can move freely in the water, but none of the villains can and theres nothing in the description that says they can't destroy/turn off the pumps if a villain is adjacent so Batman could easily turn off both pumps while getting beat up, but not die and complete his objective. This obviously does not have to be the case but it kinda feels like that in this specific instance which is probably why this is a test game. THis is probably your RSPC hangover as someone usually just plays your villain. If this is a league where the team you are playing is an actual team, not thrown together to combat you, then things need to be alot more even. Now if you do want to do like RPSC where the villain is just controlled by someone else, I don't have a problem with that as I like that gameplay. It allows you to play people you normally wouldn't and to get creative with both story and play tactics. Its a whole lot easier for instance for me to play a crazy Joker when it doesn't espicially mean anything to me, where as if this was my team, It would be harder to play with my story than strategy.

I like the game though it flows well and is easy to keep to a story espicially with the lower point cost. THis is always a good thing to me. This is also the first I've seen of actually FORMING a team as opposed to just having one. I like that aspect as well.

The main thing I'd suggest is to make sure you get very specific. In the thing I did like this there were multiple things I didn;t mention and figured people would take them as canon, but people didn;t get it and I had to explain, which took alot of the fun away. For example: Not having the villains objective, or how they escape in the write up. Also I was thinking the pumps where just hindering objects since they were special objects but since you moved Batman where you did I'm not sure since now Joker has Line of site to Batman, and I wouldn't think you'd do that so I don;t know if the Pipes are actually blocking. Detail is the key in these, even if you think its something stupidly minor, its still gotta be in the initial write up.

Overall, yes I like it and would be in a league like this for sure. Too bad Green Lanterns cost too much to use :-(. Good base, just needs some tweeking, but what doesn't? Shouln;t be too hard.

I think you're 100% right on.

In this instance, the Joker (probably) wounldn't be someone's team. And I'd assign this to some player to play out.

But yes, the Villians didn't have any specific goal besides fight, and defend the water pumps.

Oh, and the water pumps are blocking terrain. And that was a very poor thing for me not to mention.

I like the idea of forming a team too. I think all team would go through a Vol O. (O= Orgin) where it would tell stories when these characters might have met perviously. During which they're increasing their play total by playing games.

Once they play total has gone up a little, they could formally have the story make them a team, and go up to Vol 1, with some big storyline. Like for the JLA, maybe their first encounter would be with an alien invasion. Or saving Jon Jonzz.

hmmm..well since I screwed the pooch on my positioning cause of that I'm pretty hosed on that one. I could move Joker next to Bats to give him a click of poison, but Joker would most likely take 2 since I won't have anyone to Mastermind to AND if I Outwit Willpower, you'll just Outwit Outwit and get it back so thats useless. Hmmm...

Batman knew he had to act fast, and the Joker would take advantage of any weakness.

But he heard the most bizzare sound. Low ultra-sonics could be heard through his radio transmitter.

Little did he know, that Aquaman was calling for his own assistance, the local sea-life would come to his aid.

Batman will try to disable the water pump in T-18, Av10 vs dv16, need a 6 and the roll is 6+3 for 9. Rolling for the super senses, and get a 2. That's 1 pump disabled. No push damage due to willpower.

Aquaman takes a power action, and places to L-Ron Pogs on the board. I'll place one in U-20 and the other in P-20.

I'm going to do away with the whole JLA TA on their dial, as I already have enough advantages

The Dark Knight did what he could, but he was still putting the lose ends of Water Pumps wiring back together, and could hardly defend himself.

Seeing that there is no way to prevent the destuction of his precious gas Joker turns to Batman with fury in his eyes.

Joker: Curse You Batman! Always ruining my plans and its also your fault I thought in my head Outwit, his Outwit, but didn't actually type it!

Angrily Joker expends himself to shoot an extending boxing glove at the Caped Crusader. 9 on a 16. Roll = 4,4 for 8. batman takes 3 and is knocked back to X17. I've never used Mastermind before so if you can Mastermind push damage, hes doing that to Carl. If not he takes 1.

And he'll Outwit Leap/Climb...just cause...hes the Joker hes CRAZY like that.

Batman took the brunt of the force. Despite all his years of training, nothing was going to prevent a giant fist from hurting when it connects properly.

But much to his pleasure, he heard silence. The last of the water pumps had suddenly stopped.

Batman was quite suprised, he wasn't used to someone else being capable of coming through in a pinch.

Maybe having a partner wasn't so bad.

The King of Atlantis finally stood in stature tall above the water. And with much strength hurled the trident down upon the criminal. The criminal spun out of the way only to spin himself into the side of the water pump and tripping over it. The injury looked quite painful

Batman wondered if the miss was intentional, or if this stranger had tried for a lethal strike

Batman was now reeling. The pain was spreading in his whole body, he needed help. He tried to send out a batarang, but his arm now ached in pain, and his toss went wide.

Then suddenly he saw himself he saw a rather large porpose at his knees. Whoever his ally was, he was more than abilities than meets the eye.

Turn 10

joker: Stupid Blow hole! Don't you have a Tuna net to get caught in? Mel, finish off the Bat for me!

Mac charges to W18, via V19 and attacks Batman. He goes to stab Batman, and is blocked, but it is only a distraction as a spurt of gas from Mac's flower sprews in Batmans face. 7 on a 13, needs a 6. Roll = 11. Batman takes 1 for the KO. Batman crumbles in the water.

Joker: AHAHAHA, didn't count on that didja Batsie!

Batman was fell into the deep Gotham waters. He would have never thought he'd end up in a watery grave. He could still hear The Joker's laughter, it made him even more tired. He would have surely gone to the bottom if not for the remaining Sea Creatures under the command of their leige. They took his limp body away from the battle and to relative safety. Now it was time for Arthur to finish this business.

Turn 11

Joker: alright boys time to deal with the Fish man. WHOO HOO COME OUT AND PLAY!

With that the Joker pulls out a cherry bomb and simply tosses it at the dolphin flapping at Mac. Joker attack Dolphin. 9 on a 14. Roll = 1,1. With a quick whistle from his master the dolphin turns and smacks the cherry bomb back at the man whom threw it and it explodes in his face.
Joker takes 1

Joker: GAH! KILL THEM NOW!

Yeah I've been rolling great all game, like 8s and up and then a crit miss against a dolphin. Go figure. Sadly though this looks like a draw as I fail to see how you're going to KO Joker before the 15 turn limit That was my advantage in this for not dieing. It was almost impossible for me to stop you turning off the gas, but I definently held the advantage of staying alive with the Mastermind. Actually you would have been fine had I missed Batman on that Joker shot.

Joker: Mel get up here and take a trident for me!

Mac: What boss...

Joker: Is the fish man out of gas?

The gas hits Aquaman but it does less damage to the see man than it did to batman. Aquaman takes a clix for poison.

Joker then takes a large sledgehammer and bonks Aquaman over the head with it making him take 2. Joker also takes 1 for the push

Turn 14 Justice League

Aquaman and Dolphin clear

Turn 15

Joker Clears Criminal tries to hit the Dolphin I suppose, need 10. Rols 7 and misses.

Joker: What crappy henchmen I have? Come on you idiots lets get out of here!

The Joker and his men start to flee as Aquaman makes 1 last desperate attack....

The striking glare gave Joker enough reason to make good his escape. Than and The Joker realized that he was now surrouned by a team of sharks.

Arthur less concerned over the imprisonment of a land dweller saugh the dark hooded figure. He followed his aquatic allies to the nearby shore where Batman was now awakening.

"I guess I should thank you," Batman said.

"I thank you, you risked your life to protect my home," Arthur said.

"And yours mine." Batman said agreeably, "And The Joker?"

"Escaped..." Arthur said searching for his words... "I'm sorry, what is your name?"

"They call me Batman, and yours?"

"Aquaman seems fitting enough for now."

"I have several questions for you," Batman said

"Another time perhaps, the duties of a King are always pressing," Aquaman said as he seemed to walk into the sea.

So can the duties of a Knight, thought Batman...... ecspecially with The Joker still on the loose.

So that worked ok, some room for improvement. But this system is a little more fast paced than either RPSC or Fantasy League.

Scenarios make for some fun thematic elements.

And rewards for achieving certain goals could make for even more fun. I could have seen Batman getting the chance to upgrade if he had personally KOed! The Joker.

So what do you think, should I pursue this or not?

Yeah definently. If I can choose I'd like Cap and the Falcon. I guess it would be an Avenger's team, but then again I don't know how open you are to like new team names if the characters in the team made sense of course, not like a Feluwelt/Vision team :)
