So, our next film, Classic or Crud, Hit or Miss, what say you ALL?

Our next film open for discussion, and ultimately an Overall RATING by you all:

HALLOWEEN 2
57yirty-6O0

Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.

Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.

So, what say you all?

Next Film: ??????

I can't wait for Halloween 3 reviews.

Is the number 3 worst movie ever what I saw.

Second: Street Fighter.

I actually remember "Halloween 2" pretty well. It definitely wasn't as groundbreaking or as top-notch as the original "Halloween" (the film that basically helped launch the slasher genre...but barely had a drop of blood in it) but it wasn't as bad as many other slasher sequels. The directing was still good - though you could tell there was some pressure to up the "gore" a bit to compete with the likes of Jason - and acting was fine and competent. What was nice about "Halloween 2" is that the storyline still made sense - heck, it actually fit in rather nicely as it just extends on from the ending of the first "Halloween" movie (starts right after it essentially). If they had stuck with the way "Halloween 2" ended instead of trying to bring back the cast and rehash everything (and getting really strange with the Cult of Arawn stuff and all) I think the movie would be better remembered (in fairness, they attempted that at first...but the result was the abyssmal "Halloween 3").

All in all, a film that suffers some sequel'itis but one that I recommend re-watching before voting as I feel its' memory has been "tainted" a bit by its' descendants.

Score: 7.75

I agree with RK here, this film while not the Classic its original was, wasnt all too bad itself at all. Reminds me alot of Rocky 2 and Jaws 2 in that respect, two other sequels that came out around the same timeframe. They were bad films themselves at all, but when compared to the first (which in most respects were all Classics) they just didnt hold up.

I liked the fact that this was still the same Halloween night from the original film, that it was simply a continuation of what we going on in Haddonfield at that time. As mentioned here, it was done with more gore horror than Halloween 1, which made it feel less special and more common a horror film to me (not that I dont like gore mind you, but in slasher pictures I feel suspense gets me going more than blood)

Its obvious from the way this ended it was to be the last film for Myers and Loomis, but alas H3 didnt do so well so back they came for H4 (which oddly enough was really good). Halloween 2 was decent enough horror film during a time when horror movies were EVERYWHERE (is there even close to another decade where horror films were so dominant than in the 80s?) Not nearly the classic of its origin picture, it was still an OK film with enough scares and a decent enough story to keep you interested.

Halloween 2 - 7.50 / 10

Halloween is easily in my top 5 favorite films of all time.

Halloween II is a 5/10 at best.

Exclude Halloween III (which I'd actually rate higher than II) and drop a point for each sequel that follows.

I agree with you on the original Halloween, agree to disagree on Halloween 2, and actually agree with you again on your last statement (to a point), as I dont think H3 was all that bad. It was different sure, and dopey at times (though most 80s horror films were as well), but all in all I liked H3. And that ending, wow, Very Cool.

I think part of the problem Halloween 3 ran into was that it tried to cash in on a franchise-style name (or, rather, attempted to create a franchise by adding a movie into a story that was alread finished). Part of me honestly wonders if it had just been entitled "Season of the Witch" or something like that if it would't have been received better.

Come now HCR, Im sure more than just Rokk and I have seen this film well enough to rate it here.

(Oh and RK, better brush up on your Muppets movie knowledge, I sense a sequel of theirs coming up real soon) :)

To quote John Candy:
"He blowed up real good."

I'll watch it if AMC or Sci-Fi runs it later this month but I won't Tivo it.
I've seen worse films with similar themes: 6.0

I kinda like H3 in a weird way. It even has a catchy tune:
"Have A Happy Halloween, Halloween, Halloween.
Have a Happy Halloween with Sil-ver Shamrock."

Sorry, can't rate this one, haven't seen it :o. I love the 1st one, but I don't like horror and/or slasher movies that much, except when directed by Carpenter (there are a few other exceptions of course ;)), and since he just produced this one... However, comment made here about it are interesting, I'll give it a try if I have the opportunity to watch it. I think I saw the 3rd one though (one night on TV while I had nothing better to do :p), and it was really bad yes.
