Saturday I am playing in a Marvel vs. DC tourney, all figs from the same universe. Here are the two teams I have put together, tell me which one you think would be better.

U-Wolverine(from Sinister)
with Auto Regen
V-Marrow
R-Jean Grey(From IC)
V-Magick
V-Psylocke(From CT)
U-Phoenix(Rachel Summers)
V-Colossus(From Danger Room)
V-Kitty Pryde(From CT)
U-Nightcrawler(from CT)
V-Domino

OR

U-Shazam(JSA)
V-Dr. Mid-Nite
V-Stargirl
E-Dr.Fate
R-Mr.Terrific
E-Hawkgirl
R-Power Girl


I think those are the teams. So, swarming X-men or Power Hyped JSA, this is a 600pt game. All feats and BFC need to come from the same universe as the team, and I don't have a lot of cards since I stopped playing for a while. Any opinon is welcomed. Thanks.

Of course being a JSA fan, I would use the JSA team. But I would swap out Shazam and use an E Black Adam. That would give you 43 points to use either another cheap JSA'er or some feat cards.

The reason I like Black Adam more, is that he starts with Hypersonic. He doesn't have that Billy Baston charge click...and he is only 123 points compared to Shazam!'s 166.

You will probably see wealth of X-Men teams, so I would err on the side of the JSA. That's a good team, however, I think you are missing the staple: R Jade or LE Jennifer-Lynn Hayden.

The Rookie is 64pts and the LE is 74. For 10pts, the LE is amazing.

If it were me, I would go with:

U Shazam 166
V Powergirl 120
E Dr. Fate 113
LE Jennifer-Lynn Hayden 74
V Stargirl 63
V Dr. Mid-Nite 58

594

And 6pts left to play with.

With the JSA I'd drop R Powergirl and 'downgrade' Mid-Nite to his E. You don't need the Defend on the V and the E's Willpower is massively useful.

With the extra points I'd work in Hourman. You've got so many fliers you can afford to include more non-fliers. V Hourman is a great figure - good stats and that PC. If you have it, throwing Pounce on him is sneaky for all those L/C clicks.

I'm a huge fan of V Powergirl but I don't think you have the room without dropping someone.

I like Captain Marvel. His mid-dail Outwit is sweet and since you have the medic anyway, I'd invest on the extra points over Black Adam.

Another possibility is dropping R PG for Atom-Smasher. On the right map with lots of elevated terrain he is a beast.

Just a few JSA thoughts, anyway...

I'd go with the X-team, they seem to have more mobility (TK, teleport pieces) more damage potential (lots of blades, RCE and Enhancement) and more options for actions (10 figures as opposed to the JSA's 7 figures). I think if you faced off against your JSA team, the X-team would win most of the time.

Both teams have issues when it comes to mobility. The X-Team has a Tk'er, but it only has two move and attack pieces. The JSA has plenty of move and attack and no TK. However, I think if the two teams went head to head (even though the X-Team would certainly get the first strike) the JSA team would win because the X-Team couldn't swarm effectively because too many of them have to move first and attack later.

Plus I agree with the earlier statement that you'll see about a dozen X-Teams.

I'd go with the JSA using some of the earlier pointers

Great Suggestions, I don't think I have the V-Power Girl, but I will look. I know i don't have the LE-Jade, but I might have the R-Jade. I wish there was an Allen Scott JSA clix. But, oh well. I guess the E-Mid-Nite is just as useable so that will save me some points. I am going to stick with Shazam over BA, just cause I finally got Shazam and darn it i am going to use him!

me, i'm an X-Men fan more, so I'd be more inclined to use the X Team..althought I don't know about that Colossus. Something never sits right with me with him. I've had GREAT experience though with the Cyclops and Storm from DR though. Unless I'm off, you could drop Domino down and take Colossus out and go with Storm and Cyclops.

Those are both fun teams.
I dunno how to pick.

I love Dr. Fate, but I hate Mr. Terrific.
I love Kitty and Colossus, but I hate Domino.

That activation click on U Shazam really bites. It's the main reason I hardly use him, and do so very questionably on JSA theme teams. :(

I'd reduce Mid-Nite to R, V Stargirl to E Star Kid, drop Terrific, and add LE Teth-Adam (you can use him with Shazam, which is cool, and retains your theme). Teth takes over Stargirl's flight, and Mid-Nite still does what he know best: staying low in the shadows and offering Support. Terrific is fine, but drops like a brick. A few clicks of OW isn't worth the 58 points, imho. :)

I have had really good success with Colossus, just last night playing a 400pt version of the same team of x-men(minus phoenix, magick, and psylocke) Colossus took down a R-Icons Superman with some heavy objects. He does good when you can land him on the second click, with the 10av. He is still not the Colossus he should be, I mean no Invuln and low damage, but he is playable and that is at least something. I hope they make a good 125pt version of him with no activation click and steady stats someday.

I completely disagree with you. That Shazam is great. But each to their own.

No way. The E is the best JSA-team member but do NOT go down to the Rookie. E Star-spangled Kid is ok but the Veteran does a completely different job and I would definitely keep her. You need all the ranged advantage you can get.

Now, I'm not dissing Spider-ham 'cause I respect this guy, however, when it comes to the JSA, I've fielded this team many times over. Speaking from experience, ensure you have the range with Stargirl.

Getting the E or V Hourman is good. I would have suggested him earlier, however, you seemed more keen on Power Girl. Hourman is an amazing piece for his points and, as most JSA characters are AV 9 at best, that mid-dial PM is a huge bonus.

Crimson Avenger is a great piece too, if you have her.

I've never really used Mr Terrific because I only really like the vet and he's hideously expensive for what he does.

I am really excited to use U-Shazam, he is one of my favorite DC characters and I hope he is what I think he can be.

I only have the R-Hourman, although, I am starting to think I should drop R-Mr. Terrific, since you have all pointed out he is not so good for his points, I am going to look and see if I can find the V-Powergirl, and maybe add on the E-Hourman(I think my friend has him), unless I can find the R-Jade. Good stuff guys.

Ignore all the "Shazam is worse than Black Adam" comments. Vet Black Adam is definitely strong, but the exp has only 2 clicks of HSS and no good mid-dial powers like Shazam. His activation click is easily mitigated through double time, and if you can fit TK in there he is quite a beast. Even without DT he's easy enough to protect using Dr. Fate's barrier.

My own exp with Shazam in a large sealed tournament was KOing 2 exp Black Adams and 1 vet.

I personally love X-men, and all the secret amazings (magik and stuff) are too good to pass up.

Magick is usually forgotten about, then does like 7 damage in your face without even knowing it.

Also, she has 6 clicks, for no reason.

The X-team has more damage potential, and range too.

I would use Trick Shot and Storm V form Danger room instead of Collossus personally.

I just wanted to let you know I went with:

U-Shazam

E-HawkGirl

It was a good day as I went 2-1, taking down an Ult Thor team, an Ultimate Iron Man/V-Hawkeye(transporter), and V-Dr.Strange Team. It was a lot if fun, I lost to a team running KC-Flash and Jay Garrick with ICwO and Tomar Rae(the GL), I was done in by lack of ability to run down the other team, the flashed with AP and those high movements just kept running away from me. Power Girl and Shazam were a good one two punch, and the Willpower on Mid-NIte was really helpful, and that wonderful 9AV on Crimson Avenger the whole dial is sweet. Thanks for the help guys. I was able to take down an Icons superman with the x-team in a friendly match after the tourney.

Good! Well done. Its a shame you couldn't get Jade in there, because Shazam + Dr. Midnight's Perplex and Doc Fate linked with her TK would have probably given you a chance of catching that Flash. However, the JSA ALWAYS struggle with the 20s of this game. Its just a limitation you have to accept.
