CRITICAL HIT NEW GUY NIGHT (http://www.hcrealms.com/temp/CriticalHit%5B1%5D.09.NGN.pdf)

I am having some problems with my E-mail, so it may be until late tomorrow that you find it in your mailbox. Until then you can download by clicking on the above hyperlink. I know about 500 people got the hellboy picture by accident. I apologize for that and I am working on getting everything out now. Please be patient.

Good day to all,

I hope I find everyone in good health and good spirits. It was a busy month for me (as always) and even bigger to go. This month we are doing an INDY Theme which I hope you all enjoy.

As always we are looking at expanding the magazine so writers and graphic artist are always welcome to join the team. Or if you have a free moment and you know your heroclix any help is appreciated. The next
edition of the price guide is due out in a few weeks.

If you are interested in adding or doing something for the magazine please email me at [email protected]

As always I appreciate any positive criticism. On top of that I understand there will be mistakes in the magazine, so please feel free to point out using positive criticism.

I hope you all enjoy the magazine this month and thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

William Rock (rock810)

Nice, I do have to say thought that I do try to use the FF V
Ghost Rider on all my teams. I love the sculpt and he is incredibly good (not to mention one of my favorite comic characters). My friends often overlook how good he is.

As ever - thanks for all your hard work compiling this issue. It would be churlish to be critical given how much effort goes into it! Nice to know you are receptive to positive feedback however!

Keep up the great work -

SteallrX, I personally don't mind negative criticism as long as it's constructive on how I can make Smell of De-Feat better.

Hi guys, thank you for another fine issue.

I especially liked the "new" Pit Crew and Vendetta articles. I don't think anyone could have improved either of these articles. Each was well thought out.

I especially did not like the Invincibles article, primarily because of the fact that every team had In Contact with Oracle on it! Also some teams were just plain uninspired (A TrickShotting, Thunderbolt, ICWO FF Hawkeye team...with by-the-way Atom Eve?)

I would haved have hoped for a GG/Crusade Indy team-up for maximum doubles confusion!

(in Sally Field voice) tidge liked me, he really liked me.

and I didn't even catch hell for my use of ICWO with the Sinister 6 teams.

We all recognize the strength that is ICWO, but there is a difference (IMO) between filling out a very theme team with feats (even non-thematic) and just dropping it in place. The Sinister Six would probably be better with a con Artist or a medic, but offering second-stringers a stat-boost instead is a much more theme way to go, IMO.

How hard would it have been to offer a team with at least two of the Global Guardians together?

To be totally fair, I ought to offer up some Invinicibles play suggestions myself (I know almost nothing about the characters tho!) to be ripped apart...so keep checking the Combat Formations forum for a shot at Revenge!

Really awesome as always Critical Hit Project crew!

Keep it up!

And, I think I was one of the first people to play an ALL FF Ghost Rider team, it just rocks. (2 vets and one experienced usually) I've won 2 different tournys with 'em and I think it's time I bring them out again. :classic:

Hey there, this is The' Le. I put together Critical Hit this month, while Rock was on sabbatical.

I did indeed notice all the ICWO team builds this month, which is why I did a "Le's Corner" filler, suggesting alternates.

That being said, just keep in mind that the team builds in Crititcal Hit are just base suggestions. We encourage you to modify them as you see fit!

I've also asked all the writers to ease up on the ICWO usage next month. The good news is that ROCK is back next month, which means I can just concentrate on images and layout!

Woot!

I wrote both the Cheese and the Invincible articles, and being competitive minded (i.e. I like to make figures most people don't use and make them usable, and I write the Cheese article) there are many people out there who play Oracle on all their teams, I've seen it.

I realize I should have been a little more theme-oriented and I had plenty of chances to correct my mistake of including to much ICwO and I didn't. The writer's articles (particularly mine lol) are not liked by everyone all the time, and it is something that I realize. Some people play mostly themes, but in my experience most people in my area do not, and I was trying to make them all have some familiar elements in with them.

Short answer, don't judge the teams in the magazine for my oversight please, not saying you did, but like I said I was trying to make the Invincible pieces more palatable for non-theme players is all.

I have actually played 6 of the 7 Invincible figures in real tournies, and played more than half of those without Oracle, I personally don't use it all that much anymore.

The strategy is sound, and you don't have to point out just the teams in criticism, as the le said, they are only suggestions.;)

This is the crux of the problem, IMO. Very few of the pieces in the collector set have much going for them beyond theme uses. The low(ish)-cost AE/Vendetta possibility with Invincible and the brutal Lazarus Pit possibility of Omni-Man are likely the best "competative" options for the set.

As for theme purposes, Robot is one of the lower cost AI figures, so a theme team with Aphrodite, Red Tornado, Doombots might work.

Also for theme, I would have aimed to use Atom Eve with an (Ultimate) Spiderman to try and go for a "Cross-town, High School Dance" scenario (and allow for WC use of the GG team ability).

The remaining three really don't strike me as having enough going for them (considering their cost): Allen maybe could team up with Cyclops? Angstrom is just another Mad Scientist clix (of which we've already got many not-so-useful examples) Titan? Mastermind fodder.

first things first, another outstanding job rock

CH is the best thing this site has to offer by far.....every issue has something that is useful, and you dont get enough kudos for putting this together.

I ALWAYS look forward to the next issue of CH

that being said, as a spider-man guy I really enjoyed your Sinister Six article I was wondering where you got those pictures of those statues of spidey fighting sandman & vulture?

does anyone know who makes/made them because I woudl be interest in finding them on eBay or somewhere.....PM any info please

Glad you liked the book. I'd be lying if I said I knew where the images came from though. I download dozens to hundreds of images before deciding which ones to put in the magazine. I probably just googled "Spiderman Vulture".

In anycase, I found the spidey-vulture one on Diamond. You can get the info and take it to your local comic store to special order (assuming they are still in stock).
Check it out:

However, my guess is that it is out of print. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Actually, I wrote the Sinister 6 article. 1 little thing I have to share is that one of my earlier versions of the article didn't include a mention of heroes like Punisher having vendettas but I added that in towards the end as theme/flavor to show why a hero character would also use Vendetta so I didn't make it come off as a "bad guys only" feat.

One quick comment to the designer of the Savage Dragon dial - NO REGENERATION???

I dunno.

Wasn't the Savage Dragon's regeneration very slow? As in, it took several days to weeks for healing?

I believe his damage reduction already accounts for smaller healing.

`Le

Shango
10/20/2006, 14:44
His regen is only "slow" on major injuries - like regrowing an entire limb for example, or his entire lower body. Cuts, wounds etc heal very quickly - ala Wolverine. He has regernerated from far far more damage than most any other comic characters (only the new Uber-Wolverine compares).

I know I have talked to a few people. I just started to get into Savage Dragon and so far I havent seen it. :) I probable would put the last 2 or 3 kliqs for Regeneration.

Shango
10/21/2006, 04:19
If you've just got into Savage Dragon - then the reason his regen is low is because his powers have been weakening (and he has been loosing his regeneration powers) because of geing touched by Negate. Negate's touch normally instantly removes someones powers, but in Dragon's case it did not have an instantaneous effect, but rather a slow effect as Dragon's regen powers slowly decreased.

However - as per the last issue (#129) ... spoilers....

Dragon is about to get a blood transfusion from his own retained blood samples (pre-Negate) so I suspect his healing powers will kick right back in.
