Something tells me I may not find too many fans of the series on here since most MMO games aren't all that popular, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway. The next expansion, Nightfall, is going live this Friday and I'm fairly excited about it. Of course I'm also annoyed because the copy I reserved arrived today and I missed the call because I was writing a test (school works against me again!) and I was busy...playing Time Crisis 4. Okay, maybe it was my fault and I can enjoy looking at the box tomorrow since the servers won't be ready till Friday, but is anyone else going to be taking the leap into Elona with me?
For those who don't know, Guild Wars is an MMO that people usually don't add RPG to because it doesn't really play like World of Warcraft or other of that type. There's no monthly fee (the huge draw for me) and the game plays somewhat similarly to Phantasy Star Online, just less aliens and more dragons. Well, not that many dragons actually, it thankfully avoids being a direct Lord of the Rings type atmosphere and bases its locales around real world locations. A great example is the one coming out this Friday which will focus on Elona which is more or less Northern Africa which will be an interesting experience as I don't think I've ever played a game with a backdrop like that.
So if anyone has ever been interested in playing the game, I advise you to give it a shot because it not only kills most of the grind found in MMORPG games, each expansion can also function as a stand alone game so there's no need to play catch up with older versions. Of course considering all the stuff coming out in the next few weeks that could be a tall request, so I'll let you decide what kinda games you should get for yourself :p
