uggh where ot start wit this "movie."
first the pros [the very few that I have to say about this "movie."
pro
- Ben Affleck did a decent job as horn head
- jf was great as foggy
- bullseye was great save for the lack of costume
- the peanut scene on the air plane was funny
the cons
-everything else in the "movie."
marvel, you had kevin smith cameo in the movie, i'm sure if you asked really nice and gave him a big bag of money with a dollar sign on it, he would have been more than happy to write the script and direct.
I know he said that he will not do another big budget movie but that was last year.
any way i give this dud a
4 out of 10.
if this gets a higher rating than blade then the world has gone mad.

I guess I've gone mad because while I gave "Blade" the lowest rating of those scoring it, I rather enjoyed "Daredevil". It was by no means a masterpiece of cinema but it was fun and it showcased the character moderately well.
Find it interesting that you want a "script" from Kevin and Co. because I noticed a lot of the Daredevil movie was taken from either Smith's comics or other Daredevil comics that came out around that time (e.g. - the playground sparring).
My biggest gripe of the movie was probably the scene-chewing by Bullseye - and, well, never been fond of Elektra but she was appropriate for this movie - but, on the flipside, I was more than pleasantly surprised by Ben Affleck's work in the film.
It was mainly a "superhero cash-in" film, I admit but compared to so many others - Fantastic Four, for example - it was moderately well done.
Score: 8.0 (about a point higher than I would normally do but I'm trying to gear this based on other people's scoring systems, not just my own and I would say the high votes for "Blade" shows that people do give mid-level movies slightly higher than mid-range scores).

I liked this movie, with my only complaint being that it was too short.
Or rather, the build-up took too long and the ending was somewhat abrupt.
Never understood why so many people didn't like the movie.
7/10*
*I agree that Blade should get a better rating than this movie, though, so I will adjust my rating for Blade a little.

rokk, the reason i am so harsh with my rating is that i am a big dd fan. i like blade but not as much as dd. i had higher expectations for this one than i did with blade. of course i was not happy wit the costumes when i saw the posters but still hoped for a good story. just because they borrowed from kevin's run [mainly the religious stuff] does not make the same as if the guy wrote the script.
if others liked dd thats fine but Ii did not enjoy it.
if this gets a higher rating than blade then the world has gone mad.
Actually, while I didnt love Daredevil, it was an enjoyable comic book film nonetheless. I liked Blade moreso, but Daredevil isnt too far back at all in my book.
Plot? Cohesion? Writing? These have no place in the Daredevil movie! Aaaagh!
Also, before I read any comic books with Bullseye in them, I saw this movie, and it made me hate Bullseye.
3/10.
decent comic flick
brilliant choice for Kingpin of MCD. I give it an extra point for that.
7/10
I enjoyed this movie. Too short though. Thats my major complaint. I'm gonna give it an 8 outta 10.

DD was a great movie...until the "end battles".
somehow DD fleeing for his life bleeding half to death and then fighting Bullseye seems stupid to me...
fighting the Kingpin thesame night (?) ... ludicrous.

Actually a very nice treatment of the characters. While there is always a little tinkering with the history it was a fun movie to watch. Not a classic by any means, but nice action, romance- solid story. Likeable characters.
Solid 7.5 regardless of the many who trashed this film upon opening (Ben haters? don't know what was THAT bad)

I didnt mind this movie much at all, and thought overall it was a decent comic book action film. Sure its not up there with SpiderMan or X-Men as far as Marvels greats, but it was far from a bad movie as well. A few things I didnt like throughout, like Matt fighting Elektra in the playground (why not just tell her, and everyone watching in broad daylight, youre Daredevil right there), and I definately didnt like the Kingpin (who was played very well by MCD) to be Outed at the end of this first film. Let him by the behind the scenes criminal mastermind until a third film, then a climatic battle outs him as DD finally defeats Wilson Fisk. Bullseye was cool and fun to, Ben did a good job with DD himself, and Elektra was decent enough (though I wish she looked more like she did in her solo film) Overall, not a bad comic book picture to me at all (though I do think Blade was a better movie), but nothing overly spectacular either (even with a special edition out I dont own it on DVD).
Daredevil - 7.25 / 10
I give it a 5.
It was okay I guess but it just didn't have anything really strong going for it. The romance was kind of hurried, Elektra was made out as a very average martial artist (which made Daredevil out to be nothing special), there were some grateing hokey scenes. The worst part about the movie though were the oppressive darkness and the action sequences. The movie was so dark that it was often hard to follow the action, the first action sequence in the bar may as well not have happened it's very very difficult to follow, the remaining action sequences often had annoying bits of silliness that made them hard to swallow. The best fight really was that thing in the park which was bad simply because of what it was.

Only saw this one once, and not for some time, so the details are vague, but I'm giving this one a generous 6. Not awful, but enough was wrong about it that I really can't give it more. I heartily agree with DTM that the playground fight was SO out of character. Might as well just give your secret identity away. And I remember being so disappointed with the final battle with Bullseye, thinking, "No! that's all wrong," though for the life of me I can't remember the details of what made me think that. Whether it was that the characters were acting out of character, or whether they had DD and Bullseye's abilities horribly skewed, or whether the physical feats were beyond what either character should have been capable of, I honestly don't remember. Just the lasting impression that it stretched credibility waay too thin.

To me, Daredevil was fun. It wasn't on par with the first two X films, however. I do say its better than the Hulk, way better than Last Stand. Last Stand had so many plot holes that it made Daredevil look like a solid film.
There were some great moments. The sensory-depravation tank was a neat touch. How they did the radar sense was incredible. The fight sequences were good, some of them great, others not so much.
Jennifer Garner. Hot. 'nuff said.
While I enjoyed Affleck as Matt Murdoch, I actually was disappointed after seeing the "Bourne" films that Matt Damon didn't get the chance to play him. Between the two of them, Matt is a much better actor, and actually looks like Murdoch a bit.
Frank Miller. Death by pen. Nothing could be better for Frank to have a cameo.
The story was weak at times, and if you ever get a chance to see the Directors Cut, I was sad to see that didn't get made into the theatre. Much better execution, save the "Elektra shows up, Elektra dies, Elektra's resurrection hinted at;" which was still poorly done.
The Frontman gives Daredevil an 8.5 out of 10.

i've only watched this movie once, and only really remember being bored by it.
Better than Elektra (but then isn't anything?), about the same as the Hulk, but not as good as Punisher (yes I really liked both Punisher movies).

Not great but not nearly as bad as many would have you believe.
7.5 out of 10
My Rating, and then my Rant.
Rating for Daredevil (Both theatrical and extended cuts) 8.0/10.
Daredevil (the movie) is IMO the best example of the one trivial thing a comic-book movie can do to be (again IMO) a good comic book movie. That one trivial thing is to actually have the title hero in 90% of the movie.
The Hulk's problem? The Hulk doesn't show up for the first hour of the film.
The problem with Spider-Man 2? We get stuck with a Peter Parker that has consciously made the decision to not be Spider-Man!
The most specific, common complaint about Catwoman: where is Selina Kyle?
Schumaker's mistake on the Batman franchise was not being able to have a Jack Nicholson or Michelle Pfeiffer to carry the otherwise dull Batman bits.
Superman Returns...err did he? I saw him save a plane, and fly around a city, but what else was there? Superman 2 was only saved by 3 villain Kryptonians, Superman 3 and 4 had utterly forgettable super-heroics.
Daredevil barely went 5 minutes without seeing either the red costume, or Matt Murdoch evoking the Devil. Plus we got great scenery chewing performances in Kingpin and Bullseye, and suitably fun-gone-bad scenes with Elektra.
Here is a movie that basically honored the promise: Pay us for the ticket/DVD, and we will show you the title character. Not only did we get that, but we were not spared the brutality of the costs for Matt Murdoch's choices...that scene with him chewing up the valium and spitting out his teeth is probably the bravest vigilante film montage since Taxi Driver!

Daredevil is a terrible movie. Period.
It's an extremely strong visual film and it had it's share of enjoyable fight sequences, however by the time they arrived they were so riddled with poor dialogue and weighed down by a it's marketing assistant of a soundtrack that they were flat, cliche and anti-climactic...basically they were a bore. In short, it was not a compelling story and it betrayed some signature personality traits of it's title character...and yes, Jennifer Garner is hot...but doesn't every expensive movie have it's share of ##### these days? Especially comic book movies?
This movie was simply too stupid. I didn't buy it for a second. I'll give it some points for a partial rebound when the director's cut DVD was released.

My wife would give it a 10. She liked it that much. I don't have any idea why she would do that. :) Personally it was ok.

like the movie, but Ben Affleck will never be a "Daredevil" in my mind.
6/10 with him, 8.5/10 with another character.

Could have done without the Daredevil killing, and someone as DD besides Affleck. Aside from that it wasn't really all that bad. There are far worse comic adaptations.
I really want to see a Born Again movie though.
I enjoyed the DD movie, but never saw it in theatre, opting instead to wait for the DVD. Colin Farrell was good as Bullseye, and Ben Affleck was also good as DD, much to my surprise/delight. I haven't read DD in a long time, but MCD was a bit of a 'shock' as Kingpin. He played it well though, and he's got the right size/build for it. I lust for Jennifer Garner, so I was drooling over her as Ms. Natchios. I thought the story was very well done, the action was goos, and DDs powers were very well represented. John Favreau was a weirdly good choice as Foggy.
A solid movie, that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.
8.5/10 (I seem to be giving a lot of movies that rating lately)
