So, our next film, Classic or Crud, Hit or Miss, what say you ALL?

Our next film open for discussion, and ultimately an Overall RATING by you all:

TOY STORY
DPMvfaF2tao

Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.

Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.

So, what say you all?

7.5

It was a great acheivement for cgi films, and was well executed. I've watched it in a while, and it came out when I was 4, so i dont remeber much of it.

The sequel was way better.

You see, I actually liked this one just a bit better than its sequel. This one did an amazing job in showing how the entire world for these toys was confined to a very small area (a kids room and a yard). Sure they traveled to Pizza Planet, but that was not of their own means (the second one they walked all over the city, which I thought took away from the overall feel of a toys world is in a very limited space, and theyre fine with that because its all they know)

This movie I LOVED, and its probably my favorite Pixar film. Honestly cant see all too much wrong with it as all. Was the animination say not as good as Cars, maybe, but for its day it was Unreal (I mean, are we going to punish Snow White because its animination wasnt as clean as the Disney films of today?) Great story, great characters, great pacing, and I even really enjoyed Randy Newmans score on this one. A Perfect movie for adults and kids alike.

Amazing movie, which deserves an Amazing rating from me.

TOY STORY - 9.25 / 10 (borderline 9.50 to me)

Great movie, especially because of the Pig and Mr. Potatohead. This was really the first movie that made me go, "Wow, thats amazing!" because of the unbelieveable animation. It pretty much revolutionized the way animated films are made - for that I give it 9.5.

What an awesome animated film! I find it exceptional among animated films in that I can still enjoy it today. Great (for the time) animation, and a plenty helping of humour!

Rating: 9.0

..now bring on Toy Story 2 so I can give it an appropriate '2' rating.

It's a good movie, good animation, some good laughs, but I have no real desire to watch it a second time.

I think it earns a solid 8.5 of 10.

The 'nostalgia' factor of the toys actually hurts it I think...In coming years as those toys become (even more obscure) some aspects of the humor will be reminiscent of Marx Brothers movies: The film/humor will still be good, but many of the puns/jokes will be lost.

Toy Story is a terrific movie on so many levels. It was groundbreaking technically, Pixar's first leap from 5 minute shorts to a full-length feature. But it also had a story with heart. I wasn't just a showpiece for "look what we can do with out computer now". It had characters you could care about, who were more three-dimensional than many a live action movie. And it was funny. Really, really funny. My daughter went through a period where she watched this movie twice a day for weeks, and really it didn't get tired, even watching it over and over again. There was always some new detail you missed, or some joke you didn't catch.

I'd like to make a late vote here...

9.5/10

As a child(I was very young) I loved this movie, and today I still do. It started the animation style that has been used for MANY movies(Monsters Inc., Shrek(& 2 & 3) , Cars, etc, etc).

This is a really great film, a lot of fun to watch no matter how many times it's been seen before. I liked the sequel even more but even though I thought about knocking this one down a little to make way for a higher rating sequel, I don't really feel justified in giving this anything less then a 10 for being a great movie all round with nothing out of place.
