My local store, the only one that reliably stocks Heroclix in town, siad that there had been a price rise with the release of Supernova, and are now selling boosters at $16 each. They also got in some Sentinel packs and marked them at $63!! Seems very steep to me, and I can't help but ownder if they are just trying to make some more cash off the loyal player base we have here in Ballarat.

I was in Melbourne last weekend and spotted boosters at Mind Games in the city for just 12 and 13 dollars. Made me wonder.

Boosters vary a bit in price here, I honestly can't remember what I last paid for a booster but I think it was in the range of $12. Military Simulations has them listed as $11.99 for Sinister and Supernova (more for some older releases like Ultimates, less for Critical Mass and Collateral Damage).

DoFP was $50 at stores in Sydney. Mil Sims doesn't have it.

I think I might head over to the Croftminster forum and see what they say is the RRP. Man it sucks that they have such a Monopoly here. And they are my venue, so it makes it even more awkward.

Yeah, but I'm the judge there, and they generally look after me, and they give me and most of the regular clixers a 10% discount.....however that still doesn't even bring it back ot normal pricing. So it's complicated I guess.

I think the new owner is looking for as many ways to making the business profitable, and since clix sells well and they are the only ones in town that stock 'em, it makes sense from a retail standpoint. However it does make me consider buying more online, or buying up while in Melbourne. :noid:

One of the stores I visit has boosters from $12 - $14 ($12 is for Indy), the other has boosters around $10-$12. Where do I buy my case from, mmm?

I think DOFP is around $50 at this end of the wide brown land.

There was a price increase related to SuperNova according to one of my sellers.

Musicman, I assume you are in the states? If so, you've got to take into account the $ conversion. $11 or $12 australian would equate to about $8 or $9 US.

Plus we always end up paying more because of the extra shipping to here.

Ouch WakandaMan, depend on where you go in melbourne you can get boosters as low as $6.50, (yes it is indy boosters). General price in melbourne is $10-$13, depending on where you go. Mind games is always stocked with older boosters, but is always $11-$13, Alternate nations in winsor is around $8-$12 depending on how old the booster is (Mutant mahem and critical mass is always cheap). Mil Sims (man that is a cool place) is normaly rrp, hence $12-$14 unless there is a sale on.

adelaide still had the best indy booster at $3 a pop. I bought so many it was not funny

I've bought bricks from both Mindgames and alternateworlds. From memory Altworlds was about $5 cheaper. around $135-$140, but don't quote me (I sent the receipts in for the brick figs). Will be buying a brick when they come out, so will fill you in on the prices then.

will also update my trade list when it comes out, lets see what i don't need :)

Yeah I know, I rang them too, and was too late. I'm going to wait until they have more stock in and then come down sometime. Don't know when yet as I have to go to Kerang this weekend for my cousin's wedding.

I couldn't believe it when they told me they were $120 though!

I bought one (expensive) booster here so far to tide me over and got U Vandal Savage, V Booster Gold, E Mano and V Phantom Lady! Definitely worth it! :)

Pick up the last brick and the last 3 legacy boosters at Alt Nat, and one more booster at mind games.

Glad I did, Pulled the 4 standard U's (Stripe, Vandal, Sandman, and Batman, No Johnny quick :( ) and at least one of everything bar Catman, Supergirl, and Shazam.

Plus one booster had R Robot supes, R Damage, V Hawkman and at the bottom Wizard Shazam. :laugh: .

The wackyness continues thou, the Final legacy booster had a rookie Joker in a plastic bag???..... after I took it out of the bag, I realized it was a gold ring and not yellow. a quick check of the dial confirmed the redhood LE in a booster. :nervous: Pity I took it out of the bag.

I think I have bought just about enough Origin boosters for now (will continue to chip in $5 for cracked boosters as part of our tournament prizes, of course). There's only seven REVs and one unique that I still don't have from my priority wants list (I haven't pulled a single Atom or Shazam! Bizarre).

So it's time to update my trades list as well. :)

Here in the 2 stores I play at in Adelaide, generally boosters range from $11 to $13, with Indy for $3.

One store for tournaments will drop boosters down to $10 just for the tournament.

Tin Soldier had some Indy boosters for $6 a few weeks back, but they sold out fast. I guess that folks who weren't playing the game three years ago snapped them up.

Personally I have a decent collection of IndyClix (all the uniques, all but two of the LEs) so there's no point in me buying any boosters, but $3 each is a steal.

That's pretty good.

I stopped buying my clix in Ballarat a while ago after the store put the booster price up from $18 to $20. Even with the 10% discount, that is still just TOO MUCH.

I now buy them from Melbourne by the brick and sell the excess to the other local players so they're not getting ripped off either.

The last couple of times I called Alternate Worlds they refused to quote me a price for a brick over the phone, because they were worried I was from another store and trying to compare prices. Ridiculous. Since I'm in Ballarat, I'm hardly going to go all the way in there just to find out a price. And I don't see how someone from another store couldn't just come in anyway. So I wasn't impressed by that.

I went in to Mindgames yesterday, they Definately had Crisis boosters, but I'm pretty sure I remembered there being heaps more..so could be selling really fast. I think they were either 12.50 or 13 bucks, I havnt gotten into Crisis so wasnt paying much attention.
I'm prob gonna go there on Friday or something to buy some more M&M, I'm new to the game and have basically only watched the Spider-man (which i own) and X-men cartoon/movies, So its not always value for money for me buying boosters, however I really like the M&M figures, andm reading up on the characters I get which i dont know/
Bought some stuff online and just got my Sinister Six...exciting stuff haha.

Unlimited hobbies does bricks for about $120. Crisis cost us $15 each but that's because he only had a limited amount. Avengers is about the same price, and so was mutants when they had it.They have boosters of super nova and sinister for $8 each or $72 for a brick. 12 to 13 bucks for the new sets is pretty good for loose boosters, although I'm a brick buyer so I haven't paid more than that for a while anyway.

Ironically with the US dollar weakening, the price should be going down, not up!

Mind Games in Melbourne told me their boosters are going for $17.50 each at the moment though.

That's just one store though, and it seems extreme. The Melbourne stores have gone up a little as well, but not that much. Even if it is the only one in your area, I highly recommend checking out Kings Comics website- their shipping charges are very reasonable, and their booster prices are WAY cheaper than anywhere else.

With the weak US$ it's ridiculous for Aussie stores to be selling them at almost double the price, even with shipping costs factored in.

Someone's making a killing somewhere, and I suspect it may be Croftminster (since Kings don't buy from them).

We played a sealed tonight and for that tournament they charged us $27.50 for two boosters.

So if the Tin Soldier is charging only slightly higher than they did for Crisis, what excuse does Mind Games and (Keef's vanue) have for such a huge jump? I'm usually pretty cynical when it comes to Croftminster but this one doesn't seem to be their fault.

If any of you folks need contact details for a cheaper store so you can ask them about mail orders send me a PM, and I'll pass along the information. Also, I'll update you folks about the price at Good Games after I've played there on Sunday. The only way you're going to get a decent price is by going to the competition. :ermm:

For me there are other contributing factors to leave the game. The distance I have to travel (especially with high fuel costs) is pretty much taken up by the price jump now. It's pretty much an overnight stay the night before the tournament. It's been a great 6 years of the game, but now it's just no viable for me to play anymore.

The price rise has got me thinking. While I don't plan to stop playing I may only buy a brick next set instead of a case.
I hope it doesn't kill the game in Adelaide with the price rise. I know with all the sealed events it is going to cost $108 to play all 3. Pretty pricey for kids.
Xgene is stopping playing and I am sad to see that as I have always enjoyed my games against him but I understand.

It's unfortunate becaise it means not giving as much money to your local venue, but if they are charging more than you can bear you really should consider mail order. There are other stores in Australia who do have a more reasonable price. The difference in price in one booster might cover the postage cost!

If you buy your brick by mail order and only pay for sealed games at your venue, you still get the figures you want - and your venue will hopefully get the message that you've cut back on purchases because they've raised the cost too much.

Less than a week ago Good Games online store had their Secret Invasion prices listed as $14 per booster, and $110 per brick. The set was not in stock at that time.

It has now been changed to $17 per booster and $160 per brick.

And when I was in there yesterday the boosters were $18 each.

Update:
Good Games at Burwood is charging $18 per booster of Secret Invasion, and $45 for the Fantastic Four starter set.
Looks like the best prices are in the CBD (at least until I find out about Unlimited Hobbies in Blacktown).

Unlimited hobbies is about the same. Starters are $40 and SI $18, although there's not many left, if any by now. i paid $300 for my case of SI boosters.

That's what happens when the Australian dollar falls from the 90s to the 60s.

Kings does actually base prices on the dollar conversion rate, rather than marking things up semi-randomly, so I can't really begrudge them for it. It's a different economy now.

My dealer in the West asked me about the price of Arkham about 2 months ago, because it seemed Crofts had raised the price again from SI, so part of the rise is not due to the dollar (unless Crofts knew about the drop).

I can confirm that Kings COmics has Arkham Asylum for $19.95 each - I got my case tonight for $359.10 (after my gold card 10% discount).

Fortunately the collation was good - I got all of the CURs and half of the SRs from the case, so I won't need to get much more. At this increased cost, good collation is a big deal.

Kings Comics is happy to sell you a brick of clix, but they don't have any special price for it. It's the same as ten individual boosters.

However, it's worth noting that their Gold Card costs $5 (IIRC) and gets you 10% off every purchase; if you're buying that much, it pays for itself straight away.

Booster $14.95 (seems too good to be true, can anyone confirm?)That is exactly what they charge. Keep in mind that Kings gets their product directly from the U.S. distributor, and may benefit more from favourable USD->AUD exchange rates.

Not currently listed... no longer Selling Heroclix??They haven't sold clix for a couple of years at least. The owner would fail to get new sets in on time, and when he finally got around to it everybody had bought their bricks so nobody was interested. And with no in-store OP, they would just sit on the shelf. Last set I remember them having much stock of was Supernova.

How did your sealed event go?Sadly, not everybody could make it two weeks in a row, so we only had six (plus Mr_Nobody) instead of the ten people who played on the 19th. But the event itself ran pretty smoothly. We all played on the Hammer of Thor maps, which are unusual in that both sides are identical - picking which side to play on makes no difference whatsoever.

Did anyone get a brick figure?
(do they ship with/come with the Brick?)They aren't packaged with the brick. Ragnarok Surtur seems to be shipping after the set itself - Kings got HoT last week but their Surturs only arrived this week, and Tin Soldier got HoT this week but have no Ragnarok Surturs yet.
