Obvioulsy this move was awful, here are my reasons why.
After a carreer of making cool, dark movies (Lost Boys, Flatliners, Falling Down) my boy Joel decides that Batman should be full of Neon and as hokey as he can make it.
Jim Carrey is not funny, not ever, he is a great actor when he stops making faces but he is not funny.
YOu can change the story mand origins and whatever, I see movies as kind of Alt-universe stories anyway like Ultimates but you have to stay true to the characters. Without the bad make-up, costume and incesant Riddle Me Thises, I would have never guessed who Jones and Carrey were trying to be.
The only thing this movie has going for it, is that it isn't the fourth one.

Neon makes everything funny. / It doesnt.
I like the Riddler and his costume changes, and I preferred Val Kilmer to George Clooney.
...
Hmm.
Not much else to say. It was enjoyable.

The two good things about this movie:
Jim Carrey as the Riddler. I don't care what you say, the man is hilarious.
Nicole Kidman's cleavage. Nuff said.

Kinda the worst one.
Neither of the villains are interesting.
Robin was ok, but they could have chosen a better actor, realistically. Chris O'Donnell is good looking though so you can get over it.
You'd also expect Nicole Kidman to have a better role aswell.
Poor film.

There was some attempt with this movie - Two-Face, The battle of Identity. Who is Batman, etc.
But really, too flashy and the beginning of the end of a franchise.
Too many bad memories.
6.89 out of ten.

6 out of 10.
Not good, but not nearly as bad as the horror that would follow

My goodness, why are we bringing up this ****. Everyone pretty much nailed what was wrong with the movie. They completely portrayed the villians wrong and I couldn't believe how bright this batman movie was. Not bad as the next one but damn close. Only 3 things I can say good bout this movie.
1. Nicole Kidman was freakin' hot as hell.
2. I thought ole Val was a pretty good Wayne/Batman.
3. Horrible writing and performance aside, I thought they really captured the whole Two-Face making his decisions with his coin. They got at least one thing right.
4.25/10, this was just a suckfest.
Heh, at least Batman himself was done pretty well.
Can't say the same for the villains or...anyone else. They didn't even get two-face's making decisions with his coin right...remember how they had him keep on flipping the coin until the result he wanted came up? Yeah...
4/10

I agree with the first thing, but, to be honest, didn't notice the second.
Anything I liked about Riddler was taken away by the horrible casting job on Robin.

whoooooooooooooooooo, lots of anger here. As someone who actually emjoyed the Adam West Batman I didn't think it was that bad..... just trying to stuff too much stuff into the movie. I haven't senn it since the late 90's but i don't remember it being as bad as you people are saying. I'll have to watch it again but until then I'm going to give it an 8 for neat set design and the visuals......... and part of that 8 comes from giving it 2 points because it makes me want to watch the Batman movie again....... we'll call that Adam West radiation poisoning......

I actually like to think of the series of Batman movies like the comics, Keaton was Bruce Wayne,
Kilmer was Az Bats
Clooney was Nightwing as Batman.
I give Forever a 5.

Yeah, this movie violated all kinds of rules, but the one at the top of my list is "Thou shalt not mess with Alfred." Really, we're used to seeing sidekicks and romantic interests exploited by villains in comic movies. Hell, Kirsten Dunst probably has about ten lines of real dialogue stretched across three Spider-man movies. The rest of the time, she's dangling from things and shrieking. But Alfred - to adapt a quote from Pulp Fiction, one does not mess with another man's butler. I honestly don't even remember Nicole Kidman being in this. Maybe I was too distracted by the Billy Dee to Tommy Lee conversion of Two Face. At least it gave Alicia Silverstone something to put on her resume other than Clueless and a bunch of Aerosmith videos. I give it a 5.0.

yeah, all I remember is her like kickboxing for no reason. Then going to the circus that Dick andd stuff worked in.
That said, i've only seen it like twice, and the last time was a bout 3 years ago.
CURRENT HCR MEMBER RATING:
BATMAN FOREVER - 5.35 / 10
(12 members rating)
As mentioned before, the beginning of the end for the Batman franchise Tim Burton started. A shame really because Schumacher can make some very enjoyable and dark themed movies, though it seemed for him Batman meant neon colors everywhere and nipple suits for his heroes. The villains were hardly what I consider Riddler and Two Face to actually be, and were more wacky Joker rip offs to me. Kilmer did a good job as Batman and Bruce, Batgirl was Uhhhh, and Robin was OK (I apparently dont hate him as much as others do here) A movie I was very much looking forward to seeing, making me leave in awe of how cruddy and stupid (and unintentionally funny) it turned out to be. Batman and Robin MIGHT be worse, but not be too much to me.
Batman Forever - 6 / 10

You realize you're talking about "Batman and Robin" and not "Batman Forever", correct?

I swear, I thought Alicia Silverstone was in Batman Forever. I guess Schumacher couldn't fit all of his awful ideas into one movie. Doesn't change my rating any, though.

6 out of 10 The story was decent, but the neon lights thing was annoying and the movie itself seemed a bit childish. Robin was horrible and I hope they never put Robin in another Batman film again. The costume design was decent but looks great compared to the next film which could possible be the worst superhero movie ever. This was the beginning of the end for the original Batman franchise and after this movie I was begging for Tim Burton to come back.

7/10 Its decent. I like the Villains, but Val Kilmer was weak, and Robin was a waste. I prefer my robins to be at least teenagers not 25. The story is ok. All in all its just that. OK.

There were good points and bad points to this movie; unfortunately, far more bad points than good.
One of the good points was Two-Face's rant to the captured bank guard. It did evoke the portrayal of Two-Face from the original Golden-Age comics; his inner battle is not one of good vs. evil, but of justice vs. random fate.
And I guess Nicole Kidman counts as a good point too, but she was nothing but eye candy. She's capable of doing much better acting.
Chris O'Donnell was a bit old to play Robin. He was already an adult. While a child wouldn't have been believable, a young teen would have been better.
Jim Carrey brought nothing new to the Riddler role; he did the whole thing as a Frank Gorshin impression.
Tommy Lee Jones is also capable of much better acting. Had he played the part as he did his role in Blow Up--insane but low-key and threatening--it would have worked much better. Instead he was just trying to out-laugh the Riddler.
Two-Face flipping the coin over and over until he got the answer he wanted? No. No no no.
And just how many of Two-Face's actions in this film were actually based on the number two, anyway?
My overall rating: 5.

This is to Batman what Quest For Peace was to Superman or what poop is to a tuna fish sandwich. A potpourri of bad one dimensional performances and a terrible script written by someone that wouldn't know the meaning of staying true to a character if it drove a blimp, used a bullhorn and wore one of those awful jesters hats that you see on annoying kids sometimes.
Jim Carey is actually less funny than usual, Tommy Lee Jones seems to have been directed to act as badly as he could and then camp it up for good measure and Chris Odonnel is so bland that I had to double check to see if he was even in this movie (though I couldn't be bothered to check on how to spell his name). Val Kilmer does his best Michael Keaton impression but with nothing to work with, he is almost as cardboard as his forgettable ward.
I should also mention that the plot is a pointless bring mess. P.S. i hate this movie.

I'll give this one 6.5. It had some redeeming features for it (such as Batman actually doing some martial arts) and Alfred was impecciable in this one. But yeah, it lacked even the otherworldly feel of Tim Burton's take on the characters.
Robin is a slipperly slope character, but I liked how Chris O'Donnell played him in this. He made Dick Grayson into an attitude filled young man, which worked for the take. Sadly, I thought Val Kilmer did not live up to his range of acting.
To me the worst by far was Two-Face. Jim Carey was so annoying, but at least he made the Riddler his own. Tommy Lee didn't do anything other than play a manic version of Nicholson's Joker with a coin flip fetish.

campy, yes. terrible, not yet...
Ridller and Two-face overacted most of the time, but I liked there roles.
Val Kilmer makes a decent Batman, Chris as Robin wasn't awful.
Nicole Kidman looked great, not like the "robot' she is now...
