Critical Hit Volume 2 Issue 2 (http://www.hcrealms.com/temp/CriticalHit.Volume2.Issue2.pdf)

HORROCLIX FREAKSHOW CHECKLIST (http://www.hcrealms.com/temp/Freakshow_HrC_Final.pdf)

WIZARD WORLD EAST GAMING SCHEDULE (http://www.hcrealms.com/temp/ConSchedule.pdf)

HORRORCLIX VICTIMS (http://www.hcrealms.com/temp/HorrorClix_Victims.pdf)

Good day to all,

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen. I hope I find everyone in good health and good spirits. Last issue was so huge that I and some of the staff took a break from the magazine so that we could give you a quality issue this time around. Let me tell you this delivers. While we don't have any huge announcements this issue we do have plenty of content and I hope you all enjoy the magazine.

As always we are looking for writers from every gameline and want to give everyone some quality articles on their lines of favor. Though on the same note summer is upon us and summer means CON SEASON. Critical Hit will be at as many major Conventions as possible starting with Wizard World East. If you want to be in the magazine find us at the convention and say hi. We will be taking pictures of people playing and will be doing our best to cover each line at the convention. With that we are adding the full con schedule for each convention.

Well with that I hope you enjoy this issue. For my Heroclix readers next month is going to be a big issue as we will be giving some AVENGERS sneak peaks that will blow your minds. GOOD DAY AND GOOD GAMING.

William Rock

Thanks so much rock. Thats kinda funny really. About two hours ago, I was sitting at the PC thinking about trying to find something to read (been stuck at home with the wife, after her surgery), and I looked down and saw issue #10 and #11, and I was thinking "when is the next issue coming out? I need some Clix material". Then I just got the email.

HAHA that's funny, I love the Highlander-Clix. But I should have TM'd it. I came up with a scenario for one of the events I'm holding in June after watching a marathon viewing of all the Highlander movies (including the terrible Highlander: The Source), and called it Highlanderclix.

300pts, all figs in the team must have BCF and a bladed weapon (no pop out claws). With every KO the attacking fig get a "Quickening" otherwise known as a regen roll.

This is The Le (pronounced Tay Lee), and I do all the imaging and editing for Critical Hit. (And I made all the HorrorClix custom victims this issue)

I hope you all are enjoying the magazine. We've been having a great time with it -- this month we're packed with good information for you all, as always.

I am also happy to say that my T-shirt was listed as #8 in the HCRealms-Create-a-Tshirt contest!

See you in the funnies!

I just imagine Christopher Walken standing behind Rock while he's editing everything together on the computer going, "It could use more Hulk."

Actually, finding *usable* hulk images was quite difficult. I hope we do another X-men issue someday, because finding images for that is quite easy.

Did the LE Johnny Thunder mail-away not work out? Or is that still in the works?

Johnny Thunder has nothing to do with me. I am sure wizkids has plans for that, but we will find out soon enough.

Someone had posted that he would be a mail-away through Critical Hit. Was that never in the works?

Not to my knowledge. I know someone suggested it, but it was never anything I was approached with. Though trust me that is not a responsibility I would want to be handed.

The first person that posted that, did so as a joke/"wouldn't that be cool if", complete with smiley about a month ago after Mark Tuttle let it slip that they were discussing with DC approval on distribution.

No one from Critical Hit has stated that the piece would be available through the online magazine. However, I would echo that "boy, wouldn't it be cool if..."

I think the piece is a novel approach to getting more characters out to the fans without the sometimes cheesy re-use of the same sculpt. I dig my Berserker Wolverine, OWAW Superman...yada yada...Skymax, but new sculpt elements like adding Johnny Thunder to the base is pretty darn cool!

Now onto our previously scheduled oohing and ahhing over the latest issue of Critical Hit! It's chock full of cool stuff!

Edit: I got sidetracked in the middle of my post by actual work, and Rock810 answered already...

Here is an idea for your awesome magazine, rock. Someone write a report about the teams played at WWE! That would be journalism in the truest (gaming) sense of the word. I've seen Wizard magazines write articles on Magic tourneys at cons, but for some reason they have skipped the Heroclix ones. Anyway, I'm definitely interested in the Wizard World teams since I can't go to one.

Also, if someone would post the invitational winning teams as soon as they could, I always appreciate that. I realize that it takes a huge amount of effort especially when there is too much stuff to do at a con and not enough time. But if someone (Critical Hit affliated or not) likes to pay attention to these things and is going it would be awesome to find out the teams within a few hours of the invitational ending.

Critical Hit WILL be covering Wizard World East (I will be doing it personally), we will also have people at WWC (maybe me). If you look we had the teams and pictures for WWLA this time around. We WILL have the Teams and pictures of them at WWE, (I will be in the hall).

Yay! And thanks to Peter Wort too for the Q&A article with the WWLA champ. I saw rock write a brief article for last years WWE (for the Realms) and that's what made me think of it.

I'm sure you can be added to the next mailing list (for next issue). In the mean time the second post of this thread has links to all 4 "parts" of this month's mailer. (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2734279&postcount=2)

Just click anywhere on that sentence. Also, you'll see on that post that Rock810's Signature has a link to the Archives to all the previous issues.

Enjoy!

One thing that I'd appreciate seeing in "con reports" is more attention payed to the BFCs used on the particular teams, as well as what BFCs were in play for certain matches.

The BFC is a very neglected part of "event strategy" IMO.

That's easy. Just play a BFC that screws over your opponent, but has no effect on you. Oh wait, nearly all the BFCs are like that.

And your point is? Now that we are approaching the first retirement of BFCs, I actually think it is interesting to see how this plays out in the big events. Obviously tentpole teams will pack Poor Teamwork, but what are the "winning" LAMP teams packing? Since BFCs need to be chosen prior to the event, it's not like everyone is going to pack the same "screw yer foe" BFCs.

I'm especially curious what "top players choose" since these big events are much more than the usual 3-round affairs that make up 99% of our game experiences...so it's going to have to be more than just "Placeholder, OD, Placeholder"

We will see what we can do in terms of this. While we do our best to get all the information for con reports and the such our resources and sources for that matter are limited. Please remember in the end this is a free magazine and we are limited at times. I do appreciate the feedback and will do my best to see what we can do for this.

LOL. Touche'! You are correct. My original response was *not* a response to your question. It was just a senseless quip about my hate of BFCs.

The Freakshow checklist is missing the Clown victim. Can you tell us what it replaced?

The Freakshow checklist is missing the Clown victim. Can you tell us what it replaced?

I do not know. The Checklist was put together with information provided straight from Wade Sugiyama (Nevamind). So I was fairly surprised to see the preview of the Clown. It may be an additional Victim or replacement (maybe for the contortionist ??). When the set comes out next week the details of the Checklist will be verified and if changes are needed, I'll forward it to Rock810.

We were very honored when Wade let us have the information for the upcoming HorrorClix Set. It was a further sign that we, a little volunteer fan-mag, have the attention (and appreciation) of Wizkids.

And thank you, for sharing it with the members of your forum!

Which would be pretty funny as that would make the second time the Contortionist was bumped from Freakshow:classic: The Escape Artist was originally called a Contortionist unitl Kelly saw the sculpt and renamed it.

And thank you, for sharing it with the members of your forum!

We've all got the same goals - get accurate info out to as many as possible.

So, no comments on the HorrorClix Victims tokens I did? sigh

Hey all,

MrAahz had a few FAQ-like questions about the Highlander figure rules. Here's the questions AND the answers, and if you have any future ones, please feel free to PM me and I'll answer them as soon as I'm able to.

Take care,

Front

I'm assuming by your post in the Critical Hit thread that you are, indeed, the author of Highlander-clix.

If so, thanks for the great piece, but I've got a few questions...

1) Bloodied Immortals all have the ability to regenerate 1 click of life as a free
action when not in contact with any
victim or other monsters. They cannot
regenerate if they have two tokens on
them.

Is this at any point in their turn or during a specific phase?

No particular point, but during their own turn of course.

2) Also,
“hidden” tokens must be revealed if an
Immortal can draw a clear line of site to
them.

Are these tokens revealed to all players or may just the Immortal with LOS 'secretly' view them?

Only the Immortal.

3)
She drives me crazy: Xaiver can once
per his turn, he can control one
additional female victim or one
opponents female monster on a
successful attack role.

I assume that controlling an additional female victim essentially means they get a second Suspense phase as long as the second one is female. But does the monster control essentially equate to Possession? Is she considered friendly? Does she suffer the other effects of Possession?

Yes on a second Suspense phase for a female victim. For a monster, essentially its possession. She is not considered friendly, however.

4)
Increased Strength: The Kurgan can
use objects as weapons, adding +1 D for
light, +2D for heavy.
What are you considering objects in HorrorClix. The rulebook lists portals, tombstones and Tree of the Damned. Which are light and which are heavy? Or are you using HeroClix objects in your HorrorClix games?

D'oh! That one was meant to be only for Heroclix usage of the Kurgan. Then again, this makes my article in perfect line with many fine Wizkids releases!

:)

Thanks for the questions, glad you like them. If you get a chance, let me know what you think after playing with them![/QUOTE]
