STUDIO MAP IN THE WORKS
WELCOME BACK,
I know you didn't expect to see me so soon, but here we are!!! Wizard World is about a week away and CRITICAL HIT MAGAZINE is getting ready to be there. This was a big issue for us as WizKids gave us a little inside scoop on a figure and some other groovy things. Also, this month if you are up for the challenge if you find me ROCK810 you can challenge me to ANY game you like. Who knows I might put you in the magazine.
As always we are looking for writers from every gameline and want to give everyone some quality articles on their lines of favor. Though on the same note summer is upon us and summer means CON SEASON. Critical Hit will be at as many major Conventions as possible starting with Wizard World East. If you want to be in the magazine find us at the convention and say hi. We will be taking pictures of people playing and will be doing our best to cover each line at the convention. With that we are adding the full con schedule for each convention.
Speaking of the CON last month we gave you the gaming schedule, but I find that WIZARD did a much better job so here is a link to their PDF http://www.wizarduniverse.com/_gfx_/conventions/philadelphia/WWPH07Gaming.pdf. Check Wizarduniverse.com for more great info and full programming.
Well with that I am off hopefully next issue is just as big and I hope you enjoy this one. GOOD DAY AND GOOD GAMING!!!

Feats! FEATS!!
I am especially looking forward to ########### ##### (feat #3) which I think will improve some figures that needed improvement.
Thanks Rock!

Darkhawk looks cool. And good show reprinting a few popular feats. The third one is something folks have been wanting for a LONG time. Glad to see it finally make its way into the game. Gonna be LOTS of uses for that.
Good to see you all back,
This is The' Le (pronounced Tay Lee), and I did the imaging and layout for Critical Hit.
So, did anyone like the Spiderman/fortitude joke? I am also quiet proud of the Jerry Springer banner.
lol
I crack me up.
Hope you all enjoy this issue!

Darkhawk confirmed? That makes me 28.3% accurate for the set so far. Not great, but not bad :-)
I've removed Darkhawk from my CLIX TO DO LIST, but as you can see, there are still plenty of Warriors that need doing. Let's go people! :-)
[Thanks for the preview, Critical Hit folks. I may have some extra special anal retentive gripes about your magazine, but I do appreciate the info you've been able to get out to the public.]

I got a kick out of them, and I've enojoyed the layout and the magazine since issue #2, although I later picked up #1. Good stuff. I only had time to browse over this one so far, as I'm not at home, but the previews have actually brightened my hopes for Avengers a little bit. I was getting pretty down there for a minute.
Sooner or later I might try submitting something again, once there's a theme that's in my area, (X-Men and the wide array of related stuff)
Thanks again.

Great mag, as always!
Did anyone else notice the new Fortitude says "Outwit may not be used to cancel this character's powers," with "powers" being the operative word. I guess Thwart and Dissent still work against a guy with this version of Fortitude.
Hey all,
1,500 emails sent out and about one thousand to go. Great work to all the writers. I won't be on until much later to finish this.

cool Darkhawk....that means anyone could be in this set!!!
Awesome...but hes a little disappointing.. he is a rookie though. I wonder if they did that because of his support role all these years.
Ill play him just of sheer principal.
Im also bummed...the TK reach thing was an idea for one of my FEATS!!!!

Darkhawk isn't too flashy, but that mid-dial regen should be neat. Failing regen on a push here is actually a good thing. At 56 points, he fits in nicely with some New Warriors teams I have put together.
I appreciate the write-up; I hadn't been aware that Darkhawk's series lasted that long.

Looks like there's another figure in this set that the fanboy in me must have. I'm glad Darkhawk's included. Great issue. If only the wait between issues was always this quick, but quality should be prioritized over quantity of course. :classic:
Another good-looking issue, but as with most of the people I'm still focusing on the Avengers set info so far.
As pleased as I am to see Telekinetic Reach (though I'm surprised they just restricted it to options 2 & 3) I may be even moreso to see Fortitude and Stunning Blow re-validated and soon to be easily available to newer players. I have the Legacy versions, but it always made me a little sad to see how newer players didn't have them or had to pay through the nose to get them.
And, hey... Darkhawk. Weren't we just talking about him (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=199825)? A fun, little addition, and just the sort of character the new set design allows them to work in. Not a character I was clamoring for, but as with comics themselves there's room for everyone, and I don't begrudge anyone getting his favorites.

AND: Tuttle insinulated that a certain "smart-mouthed Green Lantern" will be in Justice League. I dunno if that's old news or not, but it's certainly exciting!
I've never been too much of a fan of Guy Gardner, but I know others are and it'll be great for finally get him.
I really liked the final article. It mirrored a lot of my thoughts about the new distribution. The internet makes it look like the game is dying, but the response from my players is largely positive. Great magazine, and I love the spoilers.

Rock, I hope you remember I challenged you back in April to play me at WWE in a 400 point constructed. I WILL find you! :p
Thanks for all your hard work covering all the news that's fit to print!
thele - The Springer tabloid was awesome! Thanx!

Thank you 2Face. That's always nice to hear.
I'm not sure what the situation is with the official download link for the Springer Map, but it can also be downloaded via this link: http://www.itswickedfun.net/resources/customs/maps/SpringerStudio.pdf

I actually thumbed through this issue, since it didn't take upwards of ten minutes to open like it usually does.
Minor Nitpick: As terrific as the Astonishing X-men mods are, they seem to have been repeated over and over again in the document itself. It's more kind of puzzling, then anything bad or annoying.
Thing I like: I actually enjoy the non heroclix articles more than the Heroclix articles. Most Heroclix articles run along similar lines, which is just the nature of the game, there is only so much to write about. As a result, I find myself mostly glossing over them or ignoring them altogether as I read through. I actually read the majority of the Horrorclix article and the SWM articles, though. To be fair, this might be because I already know tons about HC, and jack about these other games.
The Le is doing good layout work, even if I don't think the Springer stuff is funny anymore. You should give him a raise.
Edit: Clarity.

According to the distribution in the article, we should receive in a case (2 bricks) containing 100 figures:
.6 Super-Rares
20 Rares
30 Uncommons
44 Commons
Which should give you all the Rares, Uncommons and Commons (especially if you have a case opening party).
It would take two cases to ensure that you would get almost all the Super-Rares.
Couple of VERY critical comments about content:
1) I'm in love with SHIELD teams...but why was a Shiar/Kree mentioned in that article?! Seriously!? And get R. Psylocke on there ASAP!
1b) There are lots of good 300/400 point SHIELD teams (Both pure, and theme...and especially good in restricted)...we should have gotten 1 or two (teams included), IMO.
2) The Mercenary Article...please please please STOP suggesting Nightmare (or other 120+ point figures) as a Mercenary to share attack values/whatever. Don't forget that the Mercenary only works if the character is adjacent to a higher point cost figure with the appropriate team ability. Everytime I see this flavor of suggestion, I have serious doubts that the person making the suggestion is firing on all cylinders.
The Dela Paz mods are so awesome I didn't mind seeing them twice!
Big kudos for fixing the graphics such that the pdf opens and pages much faster than in the past.

I'm thrilled to hear so many people like Darkhawk, I thought I was alone. Although the end of the series was a major letdown imo.
Wow!! Great Reaction. Let Wizkids know you liked the Sneak Peaks so we can get some more. I am pushing for some JLA sneak peaks for next months issue. Also some nightmare sneaks.
By the way 500 issues left to be sent out.

Gice Yourself a Power action... what the heck is a Gice and what does it have to do with Homer?
I'm surprised no ones going mental about this obvious typo!!?

Thanks for the comments! I work on the magazine like this: Finish laying out all the articles, then add custom clix and WK ads to fill in the white space. I actually have another 12 custom clix images or so that none of you have seen yet -- I will use them in future issues as needed.
As for the duplicates images, that is slightly misleading, and partly my fault for choosing them. Each image you see is actually a separate image that was sent to me. Even the 4-image collage of Lockheed was four separate images sent to - images from a different camera angle.
Each image you see is actually a different image that was sent to me -- not the same image. most are just different angles of the same figure.
If I happen use the same image twice, that be my fault, and I apologize (I made that mistake in issue 1.12 I think).
Regardless, I am glad you like the magazine, and heres hoping for a great future!
Keep the comments coming!

Here's my thought on this...
After buying a case, you will have (hopefully) 6 super-rares. There is a good chance that you will get some duplicates. But, let's say they are all different.
You will be spending at least $60.00 (6 x $10.00) plus $30.00 shipping and handling (6 x $5.00). That amounts to the cost of a brick right there.
The super-rare figures are now more rare than the uniques in recent sets so they will definitely cost more than $10.00 a piece.
You know that 1 or 2 of these pieces will be mondo expensive to buy (think Nightcrawler, Ares, KC Green Lantern, Ultimate Thor, et.al.).
I can justify buying a third brick and possibly going for the fourth brick on these numbers alone.

Uhh... Mr Bill Rock, why does the article say:
TELEKINETIC REACH
Now a TK figure is a formidable force that can hold it’s own with any nearby objects or DEBRIS that may be hanging around.
What's that "DEBRIS" thing supposed to mean?
It is a hint to a combo. If you play DEBRIS (BFC) you are more likely to be able to use this feat card.
Copied from a response to me in another thread:
And weren't you the one that had something to say about that S.H.I.E.L.D. article in critical hit? Something about the Kree/Shi'ar being in the article when you thought they shouldn't? You know that they do have the S.H.I.E.L.D. TA right? So it's all the same, right?
My primary complaints against the inclusion of the Kree/S.H.I.A.R. units on (any) SHIELD-pure team is that there are better choices :p. I'm a pretty serious SHIELD-pure player (and have been since Clobberin' Time)..and while the Supernova figures with the TA aren't *terrible*, ala the old-School Kree, they aren't nearly as useful as the Rookie Psylocke, or the investment of Trick Shot.
