It was just three weeks ago. Tony Stark, the director of SHIELD, had summoned heroes from all walks of life -- registered, SHIELD, unregistered, Avengers, retired -- in an attempt to sit down and hammer out a solution to the mess that was becoming of the super-powered society in the months after Civil War. But Iron Man failed to forsee that his invitations would be intercepted. This peace process was interrupted by the forces of The Kingpin... by a Skrull infiltrator... and by a psychotic Punisher. At the end of the day, many heroes and villains lay dead, including Wolverine, Kingpin, RIngmaster, Jack O'Lantern, Spider-Woman, Nick Fury, Punisher, Cecilia Reyes, Falcon, and Songbird. In fact, the only survivors of those eight days was a long, lost Skrull, and a beaten and battered Spider-Man.

When word got out of what had happened, the New York City underworld went into a frenzy. Wilson Fisk was dead. Iron Man, the new figurehead of law and order, was dead. The Punisher, the scourge of criminals, was dead. There was a huge power vacuum and very little to threaten those who wanted to fill it.

It started informally at first, but slowly, the city's super-villains began meeting and gathering in larger and larger groups, until they finally decided on a sit-down meeting that would let them all hammer out each other's territory. A new day was dawning for the super-crooks of the Big Apple.

They just didn't realize that some heroes would go to any length to keep the peace...

Signups are now open for the second round of HCRealms Mafia. We'll be leaving signups open until the end of Friday... that'll give me the weekend to get everything set up and we'll start play on Monday.

Now sure if you want to play? Read the first game here (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=203488) and see if it's your cup of tea. In a nutshell: Every day, the surviving players vote for someone to lynch, hoping to uncover a super-hero in their midst. Every night, the heroes get to pick a player to put behind bars... and those players with special powers get to use them to try and come out ahead. The heroes win if they can outnumber the villains... the villains win when there's nothing left to stand in their way.

The catch?

The villains have the numbers advantage... but the heroes know who each other is, and can coordinate their actions. Can the villains root out the heroes in their midst without making themselves targets?

Not much time left to sign up, we've got 16 players, I can easily take a few more if people want in. The main thread will be put up tomorrow, PMs sent out over the weekend, and the first game post will be put up on Monday. We'll follow the same time limits as last game... 24 hours for each phase, with anything that ends on Saturday being extended to Monday to accommodate those of us who have weekend lives.
