I stand up from my seat at the bar, turn to Cricket and say: "Son, you can have the rest of the bottle. Looks like I don't have time to get that next round after all. Top of the morning to you and a long life. If these ignorant lowlifes don't decide otherwise tomorrow."

I put out the cigar, dust off my hands, and don my hat at a jaunty angle. I take out a gold coin from my wallet and flip it at the bartender. "Keep the change, Sam. I only need two pennies where I am going."

I straighten out my tie and slowly walk out into the street.

"Well, my so-called good people. It looks like I'm the guest of honor for the party. Shall we get going before it gets too boring around here?"

Well in reference to that I have one comment for your friend Thanoguy.

"And Shepherds we shall be
For thee, my Lord, for thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand
Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti."

Nighty Nite.

A man walks out of the saloon on his knees. He stops briefly and picks something up off the ground. It appears to be a mushroom of some sort. He eats it, stands up and lumbers off.

Wait a second.... since when have I become charlesx's friend? Seeing how you guys must think I'm in the Secret Service, I guess I'll have to come out and tell you who I really am: I don't work for anybody. I'm just a townsperson who can track people to find out if they're good or evil. I haven't really put this to good use yet, but I suppose I shall tonight.

Justice is served. Drinks all around, my treat. *pulls out a bag made of buffalo scrotum filled with coins*

*pauses momentarily at the door of the saloon, blinks, squints his eyes*

mutters to himself, "For a moment there, I thought I saw the Sheriff sitting next to RCricket55, eating popcorn. But that's impossible, he is dead and buried up in Boot Hill." I ususally only see ghosts when I am in the depths of an ether binge, and I haven't touched that rotten stuff for a long time."

*shudders, proceeds into the saloon to have a couple of belts in honor of fallen innocents*

Its usually only a last ditch effort type thing. Mostly to try and throw someone off track.

Meaning that I think Thanosguy might be feeling cornered.

Well, well - someone is out there planting misleading evidence, apparently. The investigation that I did last night told me that I might be falsely accused today. I didn't expect the accuser to be you, KitsuShel, but that gives you away. Guess the Secret Service likes to play both ends against the middle.

Folks, I vote to lynch Special Agent KitsuShel.

Well, I don't really know about that. I, too, wanted to vote no lynch the first couple of times. The reason for that was to try to find out who some people were. Well, so far, that hasn't worked out too great, as I'm clueless.

But I do think it may be over the top to vote charlesx. A lot of us wanted a no-lynch early on. I'd wait to see what theanalogkid has to say before we start making decisions yet.

Claiming innocence doesn't mean anything apparently. If you are in fact innocent you'll need more then words in my book, cause when there is smoke there's fire.

Two tall trees, a birch and a beech, are growing in the woods. A small tree begins to grow between them, and the beech says to the birch, "Is that a son of a beech

The birch says he cannot tell.

Just then a woodpecker lands on the sapling. The birch says, Woodpecker, you are a tree expert. Can you tell if that is a son of a beech or a son of a birch?"

The woodpecker takes a taste of the small tree. He replies, "It is neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch. It is,however, the best piece of ash I have ever put my pecker in."

Night 4:
The townspeople have become restless, and that leads to ruthlessness. (Which might lead to the dark side. Not sure on that one. I’ll get back to you.) These nights are significantly more brutal that those past.

The rough-looking man, sat at the bar for a good while. Whenever he started up a conversation with another townie, Ms. Annabelle would cut in and refill his drink and then start a conversation of her choice. The rough-looking man began to get frustrated and shot a few glares at Ms. Annabelle, but she’d been dealing with people long enough to know how to deal with someone like him. After putting a stop to his interaction with the crowd a number of times, the rough-looking man kicked his stool out from under him and headed off to his room.

Downstairs, the gambler sat at his usual table with yet another new partner, the nervous man. The entire time, the nervous man’s eyes are scanning the room for possible threats. His attention is spread thin. After a number of hands, both players ended up with the entirety of their purses in the pot. It all came down to that hand. The nervous man called. The gambler laid his cards down. “3 aces, beat that.” The nervous man folded, dropping his cards face down on the table. “You win.” The nervous man got up from the poker table and ascended the stairs, careful not to draw too much more attention. The gambler collected his winnings and went to reshuffle the deck. He picked up the nervous man’s cards, deciding to see how badly he had beaten the man. A full house, 8’s and 6’s. The gambler threw the cards down in disgust and retired for the evening. Upstairs, the nervous man entered the room where he thought he had seen the rough man exiting earlier.

“Jesse!?! What are you doing?!?”

“Cole! Get in here and shut that door before someone sees us!”

Jesse had the rough man tied up interrogation-style. Jesse was holding a knife and there were open wounds all over the rough man.

“Jesse, what the hell is going on?”

“I already lost 2 brothers. I’m not about to lose another. It’s my job to keep the gang safe, and I’m doing my job as best I can.”

“Did you kill all them others, too?”

“You wanna yap all night or are you gonna help me out here?”

The torture continued most of the night, but the rough man revealed nothing. When he’d pass out from the pain, they’d slap him awake again.

“You attacked my family and took 2 of my brothers you bastard! If you don’t tell me who you been workin’ with, so help me, I’ll make this last forever. You’ll WISH you were dead.”

But, all he ever did was stare at them with pure hatred. If looks could kill, Cole & Jesse would have been experiencing the most gruesome of scenarios. Eventually, the rough man bled out. His body was left behind to serve as an example. The rough man was Brock Rumlow – Enforcer played by Thanosguy. Alignment: Evil

Cole and Jesse agreed to split up after taking out Brock so that they could each do some more investigating before the morning. As they left, they didn’t notice the native hiding behind the door to the room adjacent to the one they were leaving. Apparently, the native had overheard the tail end of their little torture session. He narrowed down his options to two targets for his revenge. It would be one of the brothers, but which one?

Just before daybreak, the native caught up to his prey. His target was peeking in the side window of the general store looking for clues. The native crept up behind him and without making a sound, slit the man’s throat. His body would be found on the front porch of the saloon the next morning. His victim was Cole Younger – Younger Family played by Kitsushel. Alignment: Good

Day 5:
The townspeople all woke up to find a strange barrel in the center of town. As Jim Younger approached the barrel, he noticed that the dirt around the bottom of the barrel was wet. Upon touching the moist earth he realized that it was reddish in color. When he opened the barrel, he found a body with a shotgun wound to the chest. This was the body of Dwight 'Dewey' Riley - Sheriff’s Deputy played by RCricket55. Alignment: Good.

I'll ask that Kitsushel, Thanosguy, and RCricket55 not post to this thread or pm any players until the game is over.

Here are some things we know:

We have at least two good guy gangsters left, Jessie and Jim.

We also have some sort of killer native on the lose.

I'm pretty sure there is a 3rd killer as well. Jessie and Cole killed the rough SS enforcer. Later, Cole was killed gathering evidence. Therefore, Jessie is likely a nightkiller. So is the native. However, the deputy was seemingly killed by neither of them.

Personally, it scares the bajessus out of me that out of 7 people left, 3 of us can kill at night.

Iron Ham
08/09/2007, 17:45
Well, let's hope they target each other... Honestly, I have nothing to go on today.

Anyone pick up anything interesting over the night?

Lobstrosity
08/09/2007, 18:07
One of the night killers seems to be silent, preferring knives instead of guns or being dragged behind a carriage. Hmm.. xlr1926 seems to not have spoken since merey confirming he had a valid identity at the beginning of the week. Could he possibly be unable to talk/post? If so, he probaby doesn't communicate with anyone, pm'ing or otherwise, and the odds are he is one of the night killers. Is he a random killer, does he have no allegiance?

Well, I vote to lynch xlr1926. If he or someone has something to say in his defence, let them speak.

Jackofhearts2005
08/09/2007, 18:19
Actually, Jessie and the Native have knifes (as shown by the deaths of Cole and Brock the Enforcer). I'd say it's safe to say that the secret service guy that had a knife in his back a while back was the work of Jessie (as the Native should be on his team).

Still, I do admit that the Judge tied to the carriage and Frank being mauled by a horse are odd, non weaponary murders. Still, those happened on the same day.

I'm not quite ready to lynch someone as a suspected silent killer.

Jackofhearts2005
08/09/2007, 20:25

This assumes Jessie is our only night killer, which would make the other 2 night killers bad guys.

It's a hard world. xlr1926 is either a silent killer, a scum-sucking secrete service agent, or a silent townie who has stood by with his head in the sand, trying to drown out the anguished cries of the family members of his murdered neighbors. Will he stick up for you if the lynch mob fires up the torches and comes marching down the road crying your name in a bloodthirsty rage?

Here is a list of characters still alive:
Jessie James (good, James-Younger gang, probably night killer)
Native (evil, secret service, another night killer)
Ms. Annabelle (probably good, townie, probably role blocker)

This list will be updated as I read through the writeups again.

Not a bad start. Looking forward to seeing who else you come up with.

The townspeople surrounded the man clutching his shotgun.

"Dag Nabbit! I'm a good guy! Why's e'erybody always out ta get me?!? Always snoopin' 'round my place at night. I warned ye! I warned ye all! But ye didn't listen! I didn't wanna shoot the deputy, but he snuck up on me and Bessie in my own place! On MY property!..."

He contunied his ramblings as the townspeople swarmed him and knocked him to the ground. Someone wrestled Bessie out of his hands and the rest dragged him to the gallows. As he reached the foot of the stairs, he managed to wiggle free.

"I'll not be hanged like some fellon so y'all greedy bastards can loot my store!"

He dashed into the General Store and locked the door before the mob could catch him.

"Get back! I'm warnin' ya! Get back!"

With that the General Store erupted in a huge explosion. Hours later, when the fire was under control, the townspeople recovered the body of Reginald Barclay - Paranoid General Store Owner played by xlr1926. Alignment: Good

Night 6:

A full moon was beaming in the clear night sky. At the edge of town, a couple could be seen strolling towards The Winchester holding hands.

“Thank you for getting me out of that old dingy saloon for a change,” said Ms. Annabelle.

“My pleasure.” said Jesse as they reached the porch of The Winchester.

They paused for a second, looking into each other’s eyes. Jesse pulled her close and their lips met. Then as Ms. Annabelle broke their embrace to retire for the evening, Jesse said, “I’ll see you tomorrow.” Ms. Annabelle smiled and entered The Winchester.

As Jesse was headed back to the hideout, he felt and eerie presence. It made the hair on the back of his neck stand up almost as though he was being followed. On a hunch, he changed his path and went down an alley between the bank and the burnt out general store. As he rounded the corner to the back of the general store, he muttered, “I’ll teach you ta follow me, ya dirty injun.” With that he turned around, drew his knife, and lunged at his silent stalker. The Native managed to deflect the jab enough that it just grazed his side, but more importantly the knife embedded itself in a wooden supply crate that had been left outside. A fist fight ensued. Both traded blows showing that this was not the first altercation for either. One lucky punch staggered the native and he fell backwards to the dirt. Jesse took this opportunity to pounce. They grappled on the ground, each trying to get the upper hand. Finally, Jesse’s luck ran out and the native got a good grip on his neck. It wasn’t long before he blacked out. One would assume he didn’t feel the rest.

The next day, his body would be found slumped over, seated against the base of the well, his scalp in one hand and his own bloody knife in the other. This was the body of Jesse James – James Brother played by CrusaderC. Alignment: Good.

I'll ask that CrusaderC not post to this thread or pm any players until the game is over. (Yeah right, like anyone else is listening to me anyway.) So basically, don't give the game away.

Not necessarily.

Cole was caught by the injun sneaking into somewhere (the saloon?).
The Deputy was shot trying to get into Reg's store.

I'm pretty sure we've already lost our cop and tracker. :(

The two things we still have are a role blocker (who targeted the wrong killer last night!) and a doctor.

I'm not sure if John aka the man who is well dressed and good with the ladies has any powers.

Here's another thought: We don't know that the indian is the only SS guy left. In the first mafia game, the Ringmaster tried to make the first 4 or 5 hits. When he died, they switched to someone else. Do we think the card player is part of the mafia?

He's played cards with mainly mafia members. The only times he played with non mafia members, they died that same night.

She seems to do a good job of keeping people busy at night.

The card player on the other hand definately doesn't prevent people from doing things at night. Cole/Shel played with him, then her and Jessie killed the tough mafia guy, then she snuck into the saloon, then she was killed.

Well, ladies and gentleman, Fin Fang Foom is not able to get to a computer so I'm under orders here. He wanted me to vote for Lobstrocity for the lynch so that makes a vote of 3 out of 5. A majority has been reached.

Day Whatever:

All the townspeople had fortified themselves in The Winchester. They assumed there was strength in numbers. They were right. Especially when those numbers turn on one of their own. An argument started amongst the group because no one could seem to find the mysterious native. One man turned to Jim Younger and said, "This is all your fault! If you varmints hadn't come here in the first place, half the town wouldn't be blowed up!"

Jim retorted, "Why you blamin' me, ya kook? I didn't blow up the town, the bad guys did! You know, the same bad guys what killed my 4 brothers. How about you focus on goin after them for once!"

"Yeah, well I ain't convinced them's the bad guys seein' as how this town was peaceful before you come 'round."

And with that, the townspeople dog-piled Jim Younger and brought him to the ground. Some continued kicking and punching him. Some preferred stabbing him. Either way, he didn't have a prayer. Before long, he was a lifeless bloody mess on the floor of The Winchester. The last of the James Younger gang was dead. Jim Younger - Younger Family played by Lobstrocity. Alignment: Good.

Sorry for the delay, these last few require some tricky plotting.

Night 7:

The Gambling man sat at his usual table for most of the night, waiting for a partner. Just then, a man entered The Winchester. He was short and fat with black hair and a bushy mustache. He noticed the gambling man looking his way and a big smile came across his face.

“You wanna play a game?” he queried.

“Sure, what type of game? Poker suit you?”

“I got it! We’ll play a special game. Ok, you guard that door over there,” he said motioning towards a door at the top of the stairs. “I’ll run up the stairs and try and get past you without you hitting me. If you have any axes, feel free to throw them.” He said with a huge smile.

“What’s wrong with you? You simple or somethin’?”

“Here we GO!” exclaimed the fat man as he dashed up the stairs and barged right through the door. Except, instead of cheering when he had “won,” he stammered unintelligibly. The gambling man, now annoyed came up to see what the problem was only to find that the simple man had walked in on a murder.

The sight was unforgettable. Ms. Annabelle lay limp on the floor, her neck in an eerily unnatural position. The native stood over her with a stoic look on his face. As he lumbered towards the petrified men, the simple man yelped, “He’sa Wario, He’sa gonna win!” and took off down the stairs. The gambling man wasn’t far behind. They both found the safest place they could and waited for daybreak.

Ms. Annabelle Bransford – Barmaid played by Fin Fang Foom (Alignment: Good) was dead.

The day phase will last for 24 hrs or until a majority is reached.

"Lynch or Lose" time :(

Here's the deal. We lynch nobody, the injun kills one of us. Then, we can't get a majority lynch vote and he kills the other one.

We lynch the wrong person, and the injun kills the other one.

We only get one more shot at this, or we're both dead.

I don't really have to think super hard about my vote.

Iron Ham, you haven't really done much for us, and you haven't really done much against us. Based on your votes, you've managed to help kill a mafia member, and the bounty hunter, IIRC.

Analog, you've had some pretty dang suspicious votes.
So far, you've voted for Lobstrosity, a good guy who you claimed was the native murderer, xlr, who was a good guy, Zombie Stomper, a neutral who you claimed was the rough man, and macaq, another good guy.

You also voted for charlesx, stating you'd avenge him if he was a good guy, a very dubious claim for someone who can't kill at night, but an appropriate thing to say to your teamate who was about to die anyway.

Vote: theanalogkid

I suppose the best I can do at this point is roleclaim and hope you believe me.

As Mario, the plummer, I've been doing pretty much nothing all game.

I'm good, and cannot be killed at night due to my jumping abilities.

I've done my best to figure out what is going on from the story posts. I've organized that information and shared it in the hopes that people with information gathering roles can use it to figure out who the secret service are (or at least figure out who they aren't). I've only voted when someone else has claimed to have evidence against another person, because personally, I don't have a clue who anyone else is.

On the other hand, you have TAK who has lied multiple times about having evidence against other people. Every single vote he has made makes sense for a secret service man to make.

I don't know what else to tell ya, dude.

sstralkowski

Well as per the rules of the game, a majority was reached ending the phase, therefor the vote change was void. I think that's the only fair way to call this one.

Day 8:

The Gambler had found what he thought to be a safe place to wait for daybreak. He was outside in one of the alleys in between buildings hiding amongst some crates. How wrong he was, he nervously scanned his surroundings looking for the native. Leaving his safe spot was a gamble he wasn't willing to take. Just then, the native dropped from the roof down on top of the gambler. A struggle ensued and the gambler was outclassed. The native had him in a strangle hold. With every passing second, he was getting weaker and the world was getting darker until he lost consciousness.

Suddenly, the italian dropped off the very same roof and landed on top of the native, clubbing him repeatedly with a wrench. The native was caught off guard, and the italian kept up the assault until there was no question that the native was dead. Some might say he even took it beyond a reasonable doubt. The native was very dead. He was John Proudstar - Misunderstood Indian played by JackofHearts2005. Alignment: Evil.

The gambler awoke to the italian standing over him. "I got it!" he belted. The gambler stood up and they both walked back to town square where for a couple minutes they both just looked around and took in the carnage of the last week. Then the italian ran off never to be seen again leaving the gambler standing there alone.

The game is over.

The townies have won.

The last players standing were theanalogkid and Iron Ham, however theanalogkid did not meet his win conditions so Iron Ham stands victorious.

Here are all the roles:

Jesse James (Vigilante): James Family You are the one and only Jesse James (the western outlaw, not the motorcycle designer). That’s all I have to say about that. You may choose one target to kill each night. You may communicate with your brother, Frank(OICU812), via private message during the night phase only. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (CrusaderC)

Frank James (Doc): James Family You are the older wiser brother of Jesse James. You do your best to keep him out of trouble, and when he gets into trouble, you bail him out. Choose a target each night. If that target is killed during the night, you can heal them and they will not die. You may communicate with your brother, Jesse(CrusaderC), via private message during the night phase only. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (OICU812)

Cole Younger (Cop): Younger Family As the oldest Younger brother, Bobby and Jim take their leads from you. In return, you do your best to keep them safe. Choose one target per night to investigate. You will find out if that player is good/evil/neutral. You may communicate with your brothers, Bobby(m_a_caque) & Jim(Lobstrocity), via private message during the night phase only. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (Kitsushel)

Bobby Younger: Younger Family You’re the middle child and often misunderstood, looking to make people remember you. You may communicate with your brothers, Cole(Kitsushel) & Jim(Lobstrocity), via private message during the night phase only. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (m_a_caque)

Jim Younger: Younger Family You’re the youngest Younger in the gang. You pretty much just follow the lead of Bobby and Cole. You do what they tell you to do and they take good care of you. You may communicate with your brothers, Cole(Kitsushel) & Bobby(m_a_caque), via private message during the night phase only. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (Lobstrocity)

Dwight 'Dewey' Riley - Sheriff’s Deputy (Tracker): You’re basically a bumbling idiot, but you’re a bumbling idiot who takes initiative. You can choose one target per night and follow that person to find out where they went, but since you’re an idiot, there’s a 50% chance that the person will find out that they’ve been followed. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (RCricket55)

Ms. Annabelle Bransford - “Bar Maid” (Role-blocker): You’re the local “bar maid” who runs the saloon. ‘nuff said. Choose one person to take back to your room for the night canceling their night power. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (Fin Fang Foom)

Kenneth Rogers - The Gambler: You’re a drifter just rolling through town. That said, you’re always in for a good wager, and you’ve got money on whether or not the James/Younger gang will ever be brought to “justice.” You’re betting they won’t so when you heard they were in town, you saw your opportunity to make your end of the wager bear fruit. Choose two targets each night. First, choose who you think will be killed that night, then choose another player. If your first gamble was correct, the second target you chose cannot use their power that same night. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (Iron Ham)

Reginald Barclay - Paranoid General Store Owner: Despite all your good intentions, you’re a conspiracy theorist to the bitter end. You always think people are out to get you. Could explain why you never married and why you sleep with a loaded shotgun under the sheets with you. Anyone who targets you at night will die. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (xlr1926)

Rick Grimes - The Nice Young Man: You’re just an average Joe. No powers at all. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (Rokk Krinn)

If the Bar Maid dies for any reason, you become the Serial Killer. Your alignment becomes neutral. You may choose a target each night. You will kill that target in the middle of the night. At that point, win condition is to be the only survivor.

John Proudstar - Misunderstood Indian (Tracker): The government is taking your people’s land so you are willing to chip in and help these Robin Hood-esque heroes in their plight. You choose 1 target and follow them to see where they go. The problem is that people don’t trust you and see you as a bad guy simply because of your heritage. If you are investigated by the cop, you’ll yield an “evil” result. Win Condition: You win when all those who are evil aligned have been “eliminated.” Alignment: Good (JackofHearts2005)

Maury O. - Town Kook (Jester): You’re just “plumb” crazy. You do whatever you want whenever you want. You have a “warped” sense of reality. You have no loyalties except to whatever whims come over you. Win Condition: You win when you get lynched before another faction is eliminated. Alignment: Neutral (theanalogkid)

Joseph Brown - Judge (Lawyer): You’re calm cool and collected. It’s your job to be fair so you don’t choose sides, but this lynching nonsense is not a form of justice in your mind. You will do everything in your power to convince the people not to lynch anyone by choosing one target during the night phase. The townspeople will need a 2/3 vote instead of a ½ vote to lynch that person the following day. Win Condition: So long as you’re still standing when the smoke clears (when one side is victorious), you win. Alignment: Neutral (DarqFeonix)

Jonah Hex – Bounty Hunter: You only care about one thing, getting paid. Your job is to find Jesse James and bring him in. You don’t choose sides, and you don’t care who kills who so long as you get your man. Each night choose a target to investigate. You will find out whether that person is Jesse James or not. If you do find Jesse James, you leave town with him in tow, removing him and yourself from the game. Win Condition: Find Jesse James and remove him from the town. Alignment: Neutral (Zombie Stomper)

Allan Pinkerton – Head of the Secret Service (Don): Will appear innocent to the cop as long as he hasn’t lost any members of his gang yet. Chooses who to assassinate. Must designate a killer. You may communicate with your fellow Service agents(St-Dumas) (Thanosguy) (V'Shael) via private message during the night phase only. Win Condition: You win when all members of the James Younger gang as well as those aiding and abetting them are “brought to justice.” Alignment: Evil (charlesx)

Rollin H. Parker – Secret Service Agent (Tracker): You’re Pinkerton’s right-hand man. You’re not as sly as he is, but you’re as loyal as they come. You’re the nervous type so at night, instead of sleeping, you choose one target and follow them to see where they go. You may communicate with your fellow Service agents(St-Dumas) (Thanosguy) (charlesx) via private message during the night phase only. Win Condition: You win when all members of the James Younger gang as well as those aiding and abetting them are “brought to justice.” Alignment: Evil (V'Shael)

Brock Rumlow - Enforcer (Recruiter): Your brother walked in on one of the James Younger Gang’s heists, and a surprised Cole Younger shot him dead. It was an accident, but you don’t see it that way. You signed up with this group for one reason and one reason only. You’ve got revenge on your mind. You’d love nothing better than to see the entire gang swingin’ in the hangman’s noose. Choose a target to “persuade.” That target’s alignment now changes to evil and they are your ally. Anyone you recruit in this manner loses whatever night power they had and will now appear to the cop as evil. If you target any one of the James or Younger brothers, the recruitment fails and they will find out that you are the recruiter and that you targeted them. You may communicate with your fellow Service agents(St-Dumas) (V'Shael) (charlesx) via private message during the night phase only. Win Condition: You win when all members of the James Younger gang as well as those aiding and abetting them are “brought to justice.” Alignment: Evil (Thanosguy)

Alfred Bundy - Hired Townie (Bodyguard): You’re hard up for work and will do whatever it takes to provide for your family. Choose one target per night. You can “take a bullet” for that target. If any aggressive powers are used on that target, you will be affected instead. You may communicate with your fellow Service agents(Thanosguy) (V'Shael) (charlesx) via private message during the night phase only. Win Condition: You win when all members of the James Younger gang as well as those aiding and abetting them are “brought to justice.” Alignment: Evil (St-Dumas)

Damn, that was a nice game. I thoroughly enjoyed it. :)

What I thought wasn't ecstatic was that once I was eliminated, my brother was a sitting duck left hanging, or stomped to the ground as the case maybe.

Great game! I liked the roleplaying part of it, as well. After the reveal, I see that KitsuShel decided to follow me one night, broke into my room, and found evidence that doomed me. Since this is the first Mafia, I have played, let's just say that I learn from experience and will be more careful next time.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well Jackofhearts2005 played his part. Had I not known that he was on the evil side, I would've totally not expected him to be the killer injun. Too bad that he was eliminated, but he played his part very well.

In all, I thoroughly enjoyed this both as a player and as an observer once I was dead. I'd definitely sign up for another one. Good job, SS!

Technically, the good faction won so everyone playing a good character won(except JoH who was recruited to evil). This is why some people will place themselves in harm's way to further their group. However, there are some serious bragging rights to the ones left standing at the end of the game.

Some Wild West Mafia trivia:

Iron Ham had been guessing the deaths of people rather well at one point and chose to use his role-block on theanalogkid who had no powers.

Fin Fang Foom left for vacation on Friday and gave me standing orders. One of which was to role-block CrusaderC (Jesse James) who ended up dying because of it.

Fin Fang Foom blocked RCricket55 one night. Two nights in a row, RCricket55 had targetted xlr1926, meaning that the first night FFF saved his behind, and the second night, he got himself shot up.

Aside from the first night, Thanosguy didn't use his recruiting power until the very end when it was blocked by FFF anyway.

I'll 'fess up to that one. I ordered your death. Thanosguy was the trigger man. As the "Don" of the evil team, there was some randomness behind my decision - to get the town riled up - but by the same token I thought that you'd be a serious threat as a player. So take it as a compliment that I decided to take you out early in order to eliminate the competition.

My error was not having KitsuShel taken out the next night. She proved to be my undoing, and many props to her for being more convincing (and crafty) than I was - therefore getting me beaten to death!

I do have a question regarding the role-playing aspect if the game. It seemed some people embraced they're role while others went in totally different angles. Is it expected to act completely like your designated character or to fake your way through as someone else?

It's really up to the player. I've found that if you don't give anyone any extra clues as to your role, you tend to live longer. That and if you pretend to be in the majority at all times, you're even better off.

That actually won him the game.

He successfully blocked TAK, but the injun murdered the lady anyways.
Therefore, he knew it was me and voted as such.

If he had picked anyone else to die, I think that I could have convinced him to vote for TAK.

I'm kindof suprised TAK voted for anybody. Without his vote, nobody but himself could have been lynched. Since it was "Lynch or Lose" he could be sure that both of us would lynch him rather than see nobody get lynched.

Very true. I hadn't even thought of that possibility. Seems 2/3 of analog's choices would've granted him the win, but he chose that one that didn't. Hmmmm.

As requested:

Night 1: V'Shael was killed by Crusader and Rokk was killed by the mob's hitman Thanosguy.

Night 2: DarqFeonix was killed by Crusader and OICU812 was killed by the mob's hitman Thanosguy.

Day 3: Zombie Stomper was lynched.

Night 3: Dumas got killed by a deflected Crusader and macaque was killed by the mob's hitman JoH.

Day 4: charlesx was lynched.

Night 4: Kitsushel was killed by JoH himself, Thanosguy was killed by Crusader, and Crickets was killed by xlr1926.

Day 5: xlr1926 was lynched.

Night 5: A blocked Crusader was killed by JoH.

Day 6: Losbtrocity was lynched.

Night 6: FFF was killed by JoH.

Day 7: JoH was lynched, theanalogkid ran away, and Iron Ham won.

In retrospect:

JoH made 4 of the 6 mob kills including 3 of the brothers and led to even more lynchings including 1 of the brothers. He took out 4/5 of the James Younger gang.

Thanosguy made the remaining 2 mob kills including the first gang member to die.

Crusader took out 3 of the 5 mob men, and helped lynch one of the other two. This brought his take to 4/5 of the mob men. He also took out the Judge as an appetizer.

I particularly enjoyed our back-and-forth, Kit. My only regret is that I was beaten to death on the way to the gallows, instead of being well hung. :p

Since I was posting "in character", I hope that you've already forgiven my unfriendliness while doing so. You are a fierce opponent! Glad to stay on your good side!

It was really fun and truly a pleasure. Plus, I could never be mad at you, Charles. :)

I was suprised so many bad guys killed good guys and vice versa. I know there are investigative powers and stuff, but even when Kit did the investigating, half the time she got an answer, the guy ended up dead by the end of the night, so the info was not all that useful. It is also kind of cool how one bad decision at the begining of the game (investigating Reg Barclay) could have swung the game in a different direction. I really like how the Nice Young Man would have turned into the serial killer if Miss Anabelle got killed. That would have been truly terrifying if she got killed halfway through, and, all of a sudden, a third, random person started to get killed at night.

That just happens to be part of how the game works. I think if her and Crusader would have been able to communicate, they'd have cleaned out the mafia MUCH quicker. As it was, they targetted the same people on a couple consecutive nights. I will say though, that it allowed Crusader to get rid of the bodyguard while Kit hung the noose around charlesx.

If xlr were more active, it would have been an even faster game seeing as how some people would have surely investigated him sooner.

Heh. Our bad, sorry.

It almost seems as if the cards were stacked against the evil guys. This is not a complaint, mind you. You see, we had the ability to recruit through Thanosguy. However, it was very risky to do so - though in retrospect we should've probably taken that risk more than once early in the game. Jackofhearts2005 was not evil to begin with - he was brought over to the evil side. Then, he wound up being the last man standing from our team!

Overall, I feel the game was balanced and well thought out. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Well, I went with the typical ratio of mob:total players that is suggested. It worked rather well. I think what hurt was that Crusader was just spot on with his targetting. Especially the first night considering he had no intel.

Also, I would've used Thanosguy's power every night. Even if he only managed to recruit one guy, he'd be replacing himself in the event he was lynched. That and once he was outed, it'd place doubt in the good guys' minds and they'd be easier to pick off. Just my opinion.

Yeah, in retrospect I agree. The fact that we lost V'Shael on the first night took us aback, though. Crusader definitely did get lucky from the get-go. It was good that Thanosguy managed to get Jackofhearts2005 on our side.

Now that I have an understanding of how the game works, I'll be able to make better decisions as a player. Talking about it after it is all said and done helps a lot, also.

I think macaque is going to start a sign up thread for the next one. He'll be running a Star Wars theme. That way I can play too. :) Then I might do a Star Trek one after that if time permits.

i believe crusaderc (jessejames) took out v'shael, darqfeonix, st dumas and charlesx at night

xlr accidently shoot rcricket when rcrikett investigated him.

the rest were mob "hits" or lynches i think

The day I killed bundy I didn't know what happened. I targeted darqfeonix (I think) but bundy took the fall. So I had to wait on charlesx

For a first-run game, I'd say that turned out amazingly well.

And just so you guys know, after the current HCRealms Mafia Volume 2 game ends, I plan on doing HCRealms Mafia Crisis (DC Comics-based), so that should be seeing signups late this week/ early next week.

Thanks man. It took a while for me to figure out how to write the night actions. I found it better to just write it as a nighttime narrative rather than do the big daytime reveal thing.

Does more than one game going at a time cramp your style? You started this trend so I don't want to step on any toes.
