View Full Version : HCRealms Mafia, Volume 2
Okay, here's a quick recap on how we're going to be playing this for those who haven't read up on it at mafiascum.net or elsewhere.
Each of you have been (or will be, shortly) PMed a role you have been assigned. This PM will include your character, alignment, and any special abilities you might have. You may not copy-and-paste anything from this message. I occasionally have a distinctive writing style, and it could be a giveaway as to if someone is telling the truth or not... a healthy dose of paranoia is what we're going for. There is no need to act 'in character'... if you start saying 'bub' and 'snikt' a lot, people will figure out who you are. You're trying to hide your identity so that whoever is killing people doesn't decide to go for you next.
The game will begin with a story post by me, detailing why everyone is here and the first death. After that, you will have 48 hours to vote on who you want to lynch. Votes are cast by typing VOTE: NAME or CHANGE VOTE: NAME in this thread. You may also vote for 'Nobody'. If a majority vote is not achieved by the end of 48 hours, nobody will be lynched. Either way, you get another story post and we enter the Night Phase. The Night Phase will last for 24 hours. Anyone with a Night Ability must PM me their target by the end of the phase (or PM me 'nope, not using it tonight' if you are allowed to). At the end of the phase, you get another story post learning who died... erm, I mean, what happened during the night. And we repeat until one of two things happens: Only Mafia are left standing, or only Townies are left standing.
In this game, the Mafia are represented by the super-hero team that has infiltrated the meeting. The Townies are represented by super-villains. Expect anything... past games I've been part of have involved cults, serial killers, multiple mafia families, suicide pacts, powers that change every few days, all kinds of oddness. We won't have a lot of that... but there will be some.
Remember: Unless your Role allows you to, you may only discuss this game in this thread. Anyone caught communicating about this game outside this thread, without a Role that allows them to, will be auto-killed.
I hope everyone enjoys themselves. The game will begin shortly... as I can onl end out one PM every minute.

The game begins now.
Some of you are mobsters. Some of you are psychopaths. Some of you are simply super-villains. All of you are here for one reason, and one reason only... to divide up The Kingpin's old territory. Who would think to crash the party with this many super-villains present?
Apparently, someone was. A group of heroes who were known as the Marvel Knights had laid out a plan and infiltrated the meeting. Using some mind-altering gas, they were able to remove the long-term memories of everyone present... except themselves. Now, each night, another member of the villainous meeting gets ambushed and dragged to jail... at least, that was the plan.
"There's somethin' fishy about you, girl... c'mere... no, you don't get a choice!" The massive man grabbed the young woman and tore her mask off, and a thin powder fell from inside the mask. As it fell, the villains felt their memories coming back to them... they knew who they were! But... they didn't know who each other was. Minor detail. They knew that the woman with the memory-gas antidote must've been a super-hero... and she very quickly became a smear on the warehouse floor.
"Okay, you mugs, listen up. We got heroes here. Now, I'm guessin' none of yous know who I am. So here's how this is gonna work. We gotta get the heroes. And we gotta kill 'em for this. One of them -has- to have more of the stuff that'll give us back our memories..."

Sidenote: New Excaliber sucks. Dazzler tells Juggernaut (a guy who almost killed her, thought he had killed her and buried her alive) that she wants to kill someone for killing her. Consistancy in the marvel universe? Not gonna happen.

In what may be the fastest decision any group of bloodthirsty villains ever reached, a majority of those present decided that they would wait and see what happened during the night before they decide which of those among them were heroes.
It would be a deadly mistake.

You just gotta know not to cross Spider-Man. Kingpin was just a blubbery ol' gasbag. Now he's daisy food (and a lot of it), and we get to inherit the kingdom.
I don tink Parker de same after he aunt die. Told Kingpin in front the whole prison. Nuthin he could do to stop him if he aunt die, Fisk was next. anybody ruin a hero's life recently?

I looked for her on Google first. Apparently, Marvel did a crossover promotion with another company that produces something with a similar name some time ago, and that's all Google can find.
I eventually found her on MarvelDatabase.com or somesuch. And, I've got to give you some major credit for even knowing she existed, man, much less coming up with an appropriate power for her.

Hang on ... there's more than one obscure character that used my character's name. They're all female and could have reason to be in this group.
Now I'm confused as to which costume I should be wearing ... I mean, my thong will definitely look better with that outfit, but my push-up bra could really sell this other outfit.

Actually, turns out it won't matter if the last remaining person sends me a PM or not. The outcome will be the same no matter who they target... or don't target...

The villains had taken comfort in their numbers, each of them sharing the feeling that, by sacrificing someone else, they would gain vital information about who was the hero among them. None of them expected to be the one to be sacrificed... nor did they expect that, in some strange way, the heroes themselves would provide some of that information.
You would think that each villain would retire to their section of the warehouse and keep to themselves. Well... no. There was a surprising amount of
activity... most of it nefarious, as one would expect.
Some considered him nothing more than a hired thug with a high-tech suit. But Firebrand didn't mind. This was going to be a new start for him, a chance to come out on top, to be a big-name playe ... *BOOM* He never saw the sharpened crowbar that was thrown at his back, and the explosion caused when it ruptured his fuel-tanks was small, but burned intensely enough that he never felt a thing until he was dead... and, actually, not even after that.
Startled by the explosion, another man considered a joke finally worked up the nerve to prove him. "You!" he shouted at his selected target, "You shall not stop our evil plans!" With a bellow and a roar, he charged at his enemy, head lowered, looking to gore him to death... only to glance off his rock-hard skin and careen into a pile of boxes, vanishing amid a shower of splinters. "That..." his target said, "Wait... was that... some sort of... Man-Bull?"
In another part of the warehouse, an evil man, much more evil than many of those attending, quietly watched a doorway into a private room. He didn't know who she was... but he knew who he was, he knew what he wanted to do, and he knew that his powers would let him have all that he desired. He opened the door and let waves of pheremones wash off of him... shortly before waves of blood washed out of him, let free of his body by a barrage of bullets. Minds, he could control. Paranoid instincts? Not so much. This one would not be mourned by anybody.
Amid the confusion of the explosions and the gunshots and the crashing and whatnot, the sinister seductress who called herself Gypsy Moth found herself strangely drawn to another present. She couldn't quite place him, but he was familiar to her... and that made her think that he needed to be watched, to be stopped. But the man she watched never realized she was there, as a white-cloaked figure dropped from the rafters behind her and knocked her out with a single blow upside the head and dragged her off into the shadows
And as things quieted down, another figure in white staggered between rows of boxes. One hero, who hadn't been part of the Knights' plans, noticed her and quietly rejoiced. "Hey! Hey, you! I thought they'd killed you... glad to see I was wrong. Look, my name's BenReily... I think I used to be Spider-Man. And I remember you, I think. I... I... AIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
In the morning, the assembled villains found Ben dead, his body pierced by multiple shards of light, the corpse of Dagger sprawled on top of him. Just as a precaution, someone shot them both in the head. Just to be sure.
The morning news reported on the arrest of someone who had been with them just that night... perhaps she had gotten off lucky.
BigSoph is dead. He was Firebrand, Villain with an armored suit... otherwise, he'd've never been Clixed.
theanalogkid is dead. He was Ben Reily, Independent Hero With No Memory... Perhaps For The Best
TMNT99 is dead. He was The Purple Man, Villain Mind-Controlling Total Scumbag who died amazingly appropriately.
kontrol has been arrested. He was Gypsy Moth, Villain Fabric-Controlling Mutant Member of Night Shift.
If you are dead or arrested, unfortunately, the game is over for you. Please do not talk about this game via PM or post until it has concluded. Which, at the rate we're going, might not be very long at all.
Day 2 has begun. You will now cast your votes for who you think is a hero. Upon a majority vote, that player will be lynched and killed in a very violent manner... unless something odd is going on. With 15 people left in the game, 8 is a majority.
DayUM! I slept like a rock all night, but it sure looks like someone else was busy? Anyone got an idea about who da rats are? Or should we just start flingin' random accusations?

My two cents:
1. With so many kills, there's got to be both a serial killer (Scourge, maybe?) and a vigilante (no idea) running around.
2. What was that about the corpse of Dagger lying on top of Ben Reilly? Dagger isn't listed among the victims of Night 1.
3. I'd guess that Moon Knight took out Gypsy Moth.
Other than that, I'm in the dark.

Also, it looks like Gypsy Moth was a villain tracker--she's described as watching someone. Even worse, she may have been the "cop". Her being taken out so early is not good at all for us villains.

Whoa, that was unexpected. Being the boss that I am, I'll take charge of this shindig. Lets look at it this way, if we take a shot on someone, we have a 50/50 chance of them being a hero or villain. At this point, I really don't care who gets hit as long as I survive.

In fairness to Jacin, the Punisher had a similar ability in the last game. On the other hand, the Punisher wasn't really on anybody's side but his own--not sure if that applies to Jacin in this game. (It may be that while Jacin's no hero, he's got his own win condition, which is different from the villains' win condition.)
I do, however, think it's extremely odd for anybody to admit to killing another villain, especially when it's so likely to put you at the top of the lynch vote. If there's any reason to give Jacin the benefit of the doubt, it must surely be because there's nothing to gain from admitting to killing Purple Man. (Or, at least, there's nothing I can see that Jacin would gain from admitting this.)
The bigger picture is that when we lost Gypsy Moth, we lost either a tracker or the cop. If she was the cop, that would probably be the worst thing that could have happened to us villains.
However, we may still have a tracker/cop out there. (The first game had both a tracker and a cop.) The problem is that he can't share any information directly with us, not without making himself a huge target for the heroes (although if there's a doctor, that helps us--the doc can protect the remaining tracker/cop).
One possible solution is to have our remaining tracker/cop keep a low profile and communicate with a teammate. (I believe Gypsy Moth was a Night Shift member.) The other Night Shift member should do the talking, so the remaining tracker/cop doesn't have to reveal himself. I remember that the New Avengers had a similar set-up in the first game, and that struck me as a clever idea. It wasn't foolproof, but it may be worth a try.
In any event, the problem, as I see it, is getting the remaining tracker/cop to share useful information to us without outing himself. Anybody got any ideas on that score?

I think I've figured it out.
TMNT99 - Purple Man was incapable of choosing targets as his special power. Instead, he would randomly end up choosing a female to try and seduce, so that he could tell them what to do.
JacinB- Villianess has a power that allows them to kill anyone that targets them for anything.
I'm concerned about a few other things that happened, but I want one more night to set it all straight in my mind.
I change my vote to no lynch.

My guess is that there are 4 Marvel Knights. In the first game, 3 out of 15 were mafia. This game had, I believe, 19 players, so 4 seems about right for the Marvel Knights.
That doesn't take into account other threats to the villains--vigilantes, serial killers, skrulls, independent heroes, etc. But I would guess that there are 4 heroes who can communicate with each other.

LOL, I was downtown registering the little guy to start school in September. All we need left to do is get his Medical form filled out by the doctor, but they gave me some attitude on the phone saying it would take up to 10 days to fill out a 3 minute form, since he was just there for a check up.
So, here's crossing my fingers that they'll be resonable about it.

Okay, phew. Just caught up on a lot of reading.
Here are things we know:
1) Kontrol/Gypsy Moth was arrested by a hero (probably a marvel knight) in white, probably Moonnight.
2) Gypsy Moth was a member of Night Shift. That means we have at least one other Night Shift member here. Who else is part of Night Shift? Any ideas what their powers might be?
3) Someone, supposedly JacinB killed TMNT/PurpleMan in self defense. Since TMNT and Jacin seemed to suspect each other on the first day, I wouldn't be surprised if Turtle did in fact target Jacin.
4) Analogkid/Ben Reilly (not a marvel knight) was killed by a girl in white, who he mistakened for Dagger. It seems he confronted the girl, so it is unlikely that someone targeted Reilly for death. I'm not sure what to make of that.
5) BigSoph/Firebrand was killed by a thrown crowbar. Wrecker or Bullseye is probably the cause of this. It looks like we have at least one villain who can kill. I wish he had targeted someone else, but its good to know.
6) Manbull (or something like that) targeted someone who he failed to kill because of their rock hard skin. This was probably Thing or Luke Cage.

Here are things we know:
1) Kontrol/Gypsy Moth was arrested by a hero (probably a marvel knight) in white, probably Moonnight. Moon Knight is probably correct. Am I the only one who thinks that this was a big, big setback for us villains? Gypsy Moth was described as watching someone, which to my mind, suggests that she was a cop or tracker. My guess, based on my experiences in the first game, is that there's still a cop or tracker out there, but they haven't found anything useful yet. If they're ever outed, the doctor (if there is one) will need to protect them.
2) Gypsy Moth was a member of Night Shift. That means we have at least one other Night Shift member here. Who else is part of Night Shift? Any ideas what their powers might be? There is a possibility that the Night Shift identification was put in by Peers to throw us off. In the last game, I recall that G.W. Bridge was identified as part of SHIELD, even though he was actually independent. At any rate, I suspect that if there are Night Watch members, they're going to be very reluctant to identify themselves after what happened to Gypsy Moth.
3) Someone, supposedly JacinB killed TMNT/PurpleMan in self defense. Since TMNT and Jacin seemed to suspect each other on the first day, I wouldn't be surprised if Turtle did in fact target Jacin.
4) Analogkid/Ben Reilly (not a marvel knight) was killed by a girl in white, who he mistakened for Dagger. It seems he confronted the girl, so it is unlikely that someone targeted Reilly for death. I'm not sure what to make of that.
Maybe the girl in white is Dazzler. :laugh:
5) BigSoph/Firebrand was killed by a thrown crowbar. Wrecker or Bullseye is probably the cause of this. It looks like we have at least one villain who can kill. I wish he had targeted someone else, but its good to know.
6) Manbull (or something like that) targeted someone who he failed to kill because of their rock hard skin. This was probably Thing or Luke Cage.That means there are 2 villains who can kill, assuming Manbull isn't a serial killer or another independent. Interesting.

I'm also not sold on the rock-skin person being a hero.
That seems to be a terribly useless power for a hero to have, not to mention I'm pretty sure Thing's crossed Rhino's path enough times that he would have recognized him immediately.

I'm kind of annoyed that all our night killers just picked random people on the first night.
As far as I can tell, 2 people (Purple Man and Ben Reilly) were killed because they targeted a specific person and two people (Firebrand, whoever has rocklike skin) were attacked at random.
I mean, gosh. I wanna kill the heroes too, but a random person just might have someone to offer us you know?

For one, I'm not sure if the manbull thing is villian or hero. Nor the guy he tried to kill.
I'm thinking that manbull is probably independent. We've gone with a unanimous "no lynch" vote two days in a row now, and he attacked someone anyways. He's gotta have a "kill 'em all" win condition, or he's just tired of not lynching anyone.
Why would it be Rhino and not Man-bull? Considering the level of obscurity we have with many of the villains here, wouldn't Man-bull fit much better than Rhino who really is quite recogniseable.

Yep, and he's been known to fight Spider-Man a few times.
He's shown on the cover of the upcoming final issue of "The Irredeemable Ant-Man" as one of the "limbo/mort" characters pulling O'Grady into the black pits of "has-been comic characters".
Oh, and he has a VS card - a rare at that. (Yeah, I collect -that- too. :) ). He's on the Sinister Syndicate which includes primarily Spidey villains but also a bit of crossover into Marvel Knights villains. It's not the best logic for me to be using but -if- he's considered nominally associated with that "clique" and the Marvel Knights are the heroes, he may not be acting randomly (especially if he had reason to go after a possible hero or was misdirected).
Guess I'm still cautious on the whole "fire and forget" that folks are doing as well as the urge to "lynch just to get in a lynching".

If they attacked you again, and left the rock skin guy alone, I'm guessing that's a high possibility.
I can't say for sure; the right power with the right target can change an entire night. I will say this...
