Oh, I'm sorry. This thread is already sufficiently off topic.

Don't they have to descend enough first for it to be an effective tactic against each other? :cheeky:

How can you wish someone a happy birthday with good wishes one moment and then disrespect them the next? Oh yeah you are docdoom187 who has no grasp on reality. Dude, I don't drink like that and don't appreciate anyone making that statement towards me. Grow up a little before throwing something like that towards me.

For something to be a joke it has to be funny between both parties. I don't think it is funny at all, I think it is offensive. That is the problem with Doc, I realize he is young still, but some of the stuff that is said is stupid and hurtful even with a :). IN all honesty :) is just an excuse to say something mean and say it was a joke.

Not to mention it wasn't a smiley but a "sticking out the tongue" which leaves multiple interpretations possible.

I don't mean to sound like a sycophant but I have to back Rock on this one. I, personally, wouldn't be very amused if someone was making drinking jokes about me and don't think it's a safe category (not implying anything here about Rock but considering the number of people that do have alcohol-based problems in their past due to themselves, friends, family, etc. it's just like firing a bullet randomly to sass about such a topic without knowing the person well).

Thanks Rokk,

Personally don't have a drinking problem at all (I know first step of alcoholism is denial), HOWEVER, I get to drink once every two months or so and when I do I know what I like (whiskey being one of them), and I am one of those people that will NOT drink to get drunk. I enjoy my drink and when I feel full I stop (know the limits) The only reason it even hits a nerve is that I hate people assuming anything like that about me without knowing me.

If I am an addict of anything I am a Caffine addict. Trying to cut back as I have a nerve problems in my hands as it is (darn genetics) and shaking hands sucks unless you are rolling dice. OH WAIT!!!

Oh, good gravy did I use to be hooked on sweet lady C. Yeah, when you get the shakes, it's time to cut back. Golly, when I was staying up for late rehearsals back in the day I lost track of how much of that stuff got poured into my gullet, along with a vast cornocopia of no doubt interesting and very hard to spell chemicals.

My hands will shake no matter what I do because I have "essential tremor" which is kind of a nerve disorder with the hands (they shake all the time and sometimes I won't know when there is something in my hand and I will drop it). I should take the beta blocker, but the side effects SUCK!!!! Rather have a shaking hand, but definitely do need to cut back on caffine so I can sleep better (I say as I drink another diet coke...yeah ASPARTIN!!!)

This talk of caffeine reminds me of how much I miss soda pop. I was never a coffee-drinker - even the smell is unappealing to me - and while I like tea, when I was doing "boards and wards", soda was a lot easier to come by back then (hey, even my infamous "I sleep maybe 8 hours a week"-insomnia has limits). Soon as we start talking Lady C - as Jack rightfully calls her :) - I can immediately start tasting soda on the tip of my tongue. I almost feel like that description of Jack in King's "The Shining" when he has "phantom tastes" of his old addiction (I quit soda not because I was addicted - though now I wonder  - but because the carbonation was interferring with some medications I take for abnormal brain signal intensity...just to explain before someone thinks I'm daring to compare a desire for soda to alcoholism).

Actually, one of the side-effects of my signal intensity is a familiar (aka; essential) tremor that I need to watch (fortunately I don't need to take beta-blockers and, in fact, due to the signals my brain sends muscles - including heart-muscles - it would be risky for me, but other meds control it pretty well; it just took a lot of trial & errour and it's a bit of a touchy subject for me as I have to constantly explain to people it doesn't affect my ability as a physician). Anyway, guess I'm saying I can vouch for how Rock feels (as can my father - he has tremors as well and so did his mother so we have some genetics at work here though each case has stemmed from a different base reason; best we can figure is the base reason - in my case the signal intensity - triggers the genetic mishap).

Anyway, my "unofficial" thought on beta-blockers is that unless you absolutely 100% have to use them, avoid because as you note the side-effects are lousy and they can cause some other problems down the road (plus you can't just hop on and off beta-blockers too easily and you need to have something on you to let, say, paramedics know you're taking them as it does interfere with certain meds they'll push on-scene in case of, say, an accident). Just not worth it unless you have no other choice.

Got a persecution complex or something Doom187? If someone calls you on something you did it doesn't mean you're not welcome on the Realms, it just means maybe the specific post you made wasn't welcome. You've been -way- too defensive of late (c'mon, thinking that the Mafia game - a game where people try to remove possible opponents - only has the goal of making you feel unwelcome is absurdly paranoid) and need to start realizing that people aren't reprimanded you because you're unwelcome but because you did something wrong. What, did you think everytime your parents yelled at you for doing something wrong as a kid it meant they wished you were never born? Stop being so melodramatic.
