View Full Version : First Mod from scratch - Iron Man
Finally finished it, my first full sculpt. Its not as good as I originally saw it, but its a start. I was hoping to make him look bulkier.
I posted a while ago what I should use to start a sculpt. I've learned Armatures are not all that great. Just use wire. You can pose better with it.
Now I have to paint him. I am desperately looking for "glossy metallic red" or a rich metallic red that i can apply a gloss coat to. Similar to what Wizkids did to the ultimately Iron Man in Avengers. Any help there would be very much appreciated.
I also want to thank the guys who directed me to some websites. Those were of great help.
Pic is in the "Originals" folder.
Here are Iron Man's stats:
#001 IRON MAN
Team: Avengers
Range: 10 //
Points: 168

Defense - Repulsor Shield: Iron Man has Toughness and his defense is +2. Iron man is defense -1 for each action token on him.
Movement:
Running Shot
Force Blast - Repulsor Blast
Earthbound - Suit Malfunction/Power Levels Low
Attack:
Energy Explosion - Pulse Bolts
Defense:
Invulnerability - Armored
Willpower - Rerouting Reserver Power
Damage:
Perplex - Battlefield Intel
Outwit - Armor Upgrade
RCE - Unibeam
Shape Change - Automatic Armor Defensive Measures
There it is. Let me know what you think.
Thanks for looking.

The sculpt is awesome, and dial is good!
For "Repulsor Shield," I'd go a different route:
When Iron Man would be dealt damage from an attack, power or feat (including penetrating damage), you may roll 1d6 and subtract 2 (minimum 1). He reduces the damage dealt by the result minus the number of action tokens he possesses.
He ignores penetrating damage/PB/PW/EW, and can reduce up to 4 damage on a single attack.
man that is cool cant wait to see it painted!!!!
as for repulsor shield?? i would keep it the way you have it, sorry spider ham but what you said seams a bit complicated and a bit to powerful B^(

Very nice! I love the sculpt and the dial! Kudos on a mod job well done.
I only have a couple persnickity little changes I would make.
Energy Explosion = Pulse Bolts
RCE = Unibeam
Outwit = Battlefield Intel or Battlefield Computer
Perplex = Scientific Genius or Power Boost or Armor Upgrade
Like I said... just being persnickity. -- Hope to see more mod goodness though!
Yeah cool minis! I have the same Delll Rusk.;) I believe we must be more tahn two.

You could try mixing Citadel Miniatures paint for the metallic red.
Awesome mod!

Nice mod but Advanced Targeting Systems seems useless...
If you give him a power action to use it, he can't attack or move afterwards...
Instead, maybe have him taking 1 unavoidable damage for doing that.

Nice dial. Should "Repulsor Shield" say "Iron Man has Toughness and his defense is +2 for ranged attacks?" Because if there isn't some restriction there, I'd think it would be easier to just grant the +2 to the defense value naturally, and keep "His defense -1 for each action token on him."

My bad. I guess I should have added he can make an attack with that power action. I just didn't want him to use that Special Power with RCE. I want it to be decision when attacking. Do you attack that guy in stealth for 3 or 2, or hit someone in the open for 3 or 4.
Thanks for the correction. Makes more sense now.

Good point. I decided to make it for all attacks. I thought if the power was countered or canceled he should be easy to hit and the hit should slide him into his Willpower clicks.
I was going for a reverse Shellhead I guess. I could have just said he has Toughness and while he has not action tokens his defense is +2.
Thanks for the input.

No problem. I like feedback.
I like your Energy Exlposion and RCE
Armor Upgrade would be cool for Outwit. In fact new gadget was kinda lame, but it was all i could think of at the time.
Thanks
Persnickity? That word makes me think cheese now.

I'm trying to do stuff from scratch too, I read the modder's guide or whatever, not sure if it helps me much, but anyway what tools/materials did you use?

Excellent work on Iron Man. The only problem I have is that the pics seem a little dark and I'm not able to see the detail work that you've done.
