Does anyone here listen to metal? I was suprised to see the last post as "Never".

There are so many great bands out there from all different types of metal. Dream Evil and Falconer are two of the best bands period, not to mention my personal favorite, Kamelot. Mushroomhead, Dark Tranquility, and Gojira all have great stuff for those who are into heavier stuff.

While we are on the topic, whats your favorite Metal band?

I like a lot of different stuff. I listen to a lot the bands that Flash just listed. I really can't pick my favorite as there's just too much to choose from but my top four in no particular order are Iced Earth, Black Label Society, Fear Factory, and Hammerfall.

I also really like:
Iron Maiden
Metallica (pre-Load)
Slayer
Pantera
DragonForce
Dethklok
Guns 'N Roses
Dio
Black Sabbath
Ozzy
Danzig
Van Halen
Antrax
Lamb of God
Megadeth
In Flames

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll check my playlist when I get home, and I'm sure that I'll add a couple more...

Where's the love for Blue Cheer my frends. Summertime Blues was released in 68 and is arguably the first "true" metal tune and lemme tell ya - these boys were heavy. Blue Cheer - Summertime Blues (http://youtube.com/watch?v=-kJONgWKFi0)

Yeah, I'm a big fan of metal. I go to concerts regularly at my local venue, Nile being the latest band I've seen live. Thrash and Death metal are my favorites, but I listen to it all.

Rush counts a Progressive Metal while GNR counts as Glam/Hair Metal.

Ahhh my friend you have awesome taste in music. Firewind is one of my favorites, there are awesome guitarists, then there is Gus G, who is just beastly:devious:

Also Pagans Mind, Heavenly, Ignite, Apocalyptica, Nightshade, and Mors Principium Est, all make great stuff.

I saw them with Megadeth.
Me and my friend both fell asleep when Sabbath went on.
Dio is nowhere near as good as he used to be.

It was like 2 and 1/2 hours of the same song.

But Megadeth was kickass, Nate. I think we still got our moneys worth out of those tickets.

I cannot believe that no one has put

Led Zepplin

O yeah Nate, I really would not count Avenged Sevenfold as metal anymore, heard any of their new stuff. But hopefully they will return to making metal with their new album.

Dude, send me the info. I'd love to go as well!!! I have been so busy as of late with getting class ready for my students I have not been paying attention to ANYTHING concert related!! Of course you are the guy to go to in South Florida if there is ANYTHING decent in terms of music going on!

Hey Matt, the concert still has tickets left. It's Sept 15th at the Panthers Arena. Queensryche is going to open the show and then Alice Cooper and then Dio with Sabbath. Vinny Appice is playing drums with Sabbath and Eric Singer is drumming for Cooper. Let me know if you're going. I'm gonna see if if I can get backstage passes for either/both Alice and Sabbath.

I saw Heaven and Hell (Dio Sabbath) when they came through Canada, and it was unreal...besides that Megadeth who opened is one of my favorite bands and i got to see them again, it was so awesome to see that lineup for Sabbath. I picked up the DVD the other day of the show at the end of that tour cause it was so awesome! I highly recommend seeing them if you get the chance...and if you only really listened to Ozzy era Sabbath before, check out the songs, "Heaven and Hell", "Die Young", "Mob Rules", "Falling off the Edge of the World", and "Neon Knights" to see if it's your kinda stuff.

Of course, "Bat Country" by Avenged Sevenfold would need to be on there.

Okay, I know that Avenged Sevenfold hardly classifies as metal, but work with me here...

My Chemical Romance and 30 Seconds To Mars were in the metal section of my record store, but I dislike metal at home.
