Currently leading the Yankees in the Wild Card...just a couple back from the Angels in the division race...IS THERE A LITTLE PIXIE DUST LEFT FROM 1995? IS THERE SOME MAGIC LEFT FROM 2001?
MY, OH MY!
Just put the shmack down on the Rangers, hee. Sweep us for four last time, willya?

Just one back from the Angels! Go Toronto! Boo Texas! Yay Mariners!
Granite Moose
08/24/2007, 10:08
Hey I'm rooting for the Mariners in the Wild Card to knock the Yanks out. But that Moose is dangerous. Just ask Coco Crisp.
JackAssterson
08/25/2007, 13:37
Yes, he is dangerous. He is wild-eyed. He is hazardous to your health! He is a moose, and he's OUTTA CONTROL!
Still beatin' up the youngsters in the Texas lineup...c'mon, Angels, drop another game, it builds character.

#%#$. A coupla Beltre errors stood between us and being tied with the Angels for first. Well, at least they didn't extend the lead.
#%#$.
Too bad we won't see a Weaver vs. Weaver match up. Anyone know if they have ever pitched against each other?
Charaxes
08/28/2007, 12:27
I don't know for sure, but I'm leaning towards no. Jered has only been in the Majors for about one calender year now, and during that time Jeff has been in the National League with the Cardinals, so I'd guess that they have never faced each other. At least not in the Major Leagues, anyway...
JackAssterson
08/28/2007, 19:30
I don't think we've seen Weaver vs. Weaver.
Oy. Dropping that first game to LA did not a happy camper make. PLEASE take out Santana and (preferably) take game three, guys. Stay in this thing!

Well, they sure took out Santana. Unfortunately, the M's had Weaver pitching.

I can't believe they're piddling away a first inning 5-0 lead. Even when they tie it up...BOOM Angels get the lead again.
This game just hurts. Oy.
JackAssterson
08/30/2007, 11:34
Well, they had a good run. Sigh.
Charaxes
08/30/2007, 12:25
They still have a pretty good chance at the Wild Card, which is more than I can say for my Redbirds.
Anything is possible.
The M's still have 31 games. And they are in the wild card chase with the Yankees and Tigers.
The Cards have the luxury of being in the weakest division and still can win the NL Central despite not really being in the wild card chase.
Anything is possible.
Then again, six game losing streaks are not a good thing.

Why do I have this feeling you're going to take an extra Emperor Joker and dress him up in a Mariner's uniform. Or better yet, AS the moose? :p
Today's victory over the Yankees brought them back to one game behind in the wild card race with 26 games remaining.
The Ms are far from dead. Todays game should hopefully get them back on track and ready to roll into the playoffs.

True, true. It's a little irritating to be the chasers instead of the chasees, but at least all hope isn't dead yet. Now to smack around Phil Hughes...

Game? What game? I saw no game. Was there a baseball game being held behind that bloodbath?
Oy. I didn't even see that game and it hurt. Oy.

Ok, so there's a bright spot left to the Mariners season:
SEAHAWKS, BABY!!!

The one we got over the Yanks was a sweet one. Especially as Ichiro got hit #200 in the form of a Home Run!
Here's looking forward to attending 3 of the last home games of the season.
GO MARINERS!!!

I'm really hoping they can recapture some of the dynamite they've been exhibiting this season; especially in the bullpen. It's been one of the best in baseball at times -- recently it's been, well, not so much.
Hopefully having today off will get them back to their winning ways. They seem to be in desperate need of a day off. Plus they get to play the slumping Tigers tomorrow, and have some really easy opponents left down the stretch like the Devil Rays.

Hehe.
The Yankees, simply put, are AMAZING. Arod 2 bombs tonight AGAIN.
The Mariners are solid, but thats the problem, they're too solid. They never havr huge comebacks, or Gems being pitched out of nowhere. When you go to a Mariner game you know what you're getting. 4 runs from the starter, 1 from relief none from Putz, a couple of hits from Ichiro and XBH from Beltre, and a Single or 2 from Ibanez. EVERY GAME
As a total aside, is it just me, or with that mustache, doesn't Ichiro look like a mouse? :p

One fun fact from a Mariners blog I'd like to point out:
Seattle has become the first team in modern baseball history, dating back to at least 1901, to drop 13 of 14 games after being at least 20 games over .500 as late as the Mariners were this season

Didn't we win the World Series last year?

Hey, at least you guys still have Hanley Ramirez...
Silva is an innings eater, so hopefully he does that. And Adam Jones better have one heck of season for them to be able to justify letting Guillen go.

Deal's done.
Bedard for Adam Jones, George Sherrill, Chris Tillman, Cam Mickolio and Tony Butler.

They still don't have enough offense...their best hitter is a base-hitter for average. Where's their pop at? Not Raul Ibanez...he of the .260 BA!

I have to say that deal was downright stupid. They really needed offense not pitching.

Those are everyone's thoughts now lol.
I'd be feeling worse about the Mariners season, but you know, the fact that the Yankees aren't going anywhere either, well, that makes things a little better in my books. Now all I need is for the Rays to win the World Series, though I just don't want the Sox or Angels to win it.

This truly was the best option for him in my opinion. Obviously, the sentimental aspect is great as even if he has an off year, he's come back home. Also, playing in the American League allows him to have a lot of time spent as a DH which should help his body at his age. Personally, I'm hoping for Jr. to have a huge rebound year as baseball sure could use the feel-good story that would generate about now.

I think we were at the point where we would have traded him for several brightly colored bits of string. If he does better somewhere else, more power to him.
