Any folks into Electronic Music ? Sorry I don't listen to Trance.
I am into:
Techno
Minimal
Drum N Bass
Experimental
IDM
Electro
New Wave
House
Grime/2 Step
Synth-Pop
Recommend something.. More song on my Ipod the merrier.
Current 5 tracks :
Justice - Phantom
Paul Hartnoll - Patchwork Guilt
M.I.A - XR2
Soulwax - NY Excuse
Digitalism - Jupiter Room (Martian Assault Mix)
I'm not heavily into electronic stuff, but I do enjoy Fragma's Toca album and Iris's Disconnect album more than is probably healthy.
I don't know if industrial/aggrotech counts, but if it does, I must say I quite like Funker Vogt, Front Line Assembly and occasionally Velvet Acid Christ.
As for individual tracks, try these:
Fragma - You Are Alive
Iris - Annie, Would I Lie To You
Funker Vogt - Maschine Zeit
Front Line Assembly - Mindphaser
Front Line Assembly - Lowlife (Portion Control Remix)

I actually got that Fragma CD as a promo.. Its like Vocal Trance..
Industrial got some great stuff... Let me add-on
Front Line Assembly - The Blade (technohead remix) * Classic Trax *
Front 242 - Headhunter
Nine Inch Nails - Down in it
Nitzer Ebb - Murderous
CombiChrist - This S'it will F you Up
I'm not up with the play on the different sub-genre names but I quite like Germany's 666, they've got quite a few songs that I like - Amokk, Paradoxx, Diablo, Supadupafly, Dance Now, Policia, etc etc.n Plus other more "pop" ones like Sash, Darude, Pet Shop Boys etc. My mind has gone blank right now but I love many more. Electronic music is great for being able to create new sounds that can make a track stand out with or without vocals.

Yeah, I'm into Electronica. Boards of Canada, Frou Frou, Imogen Heap, older Porcupine Tree, Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet.
Those are my favorites.

I like Imogen Heap.
And I used to love "You Are Alive" by Fragma. It was my theme tune for ages.

Yeah.. One of favorite groups Pet Shop Boys. I have most of the
stuff, a very few of there imports. But what I do got is there re-mastered stuff w/ b-sides of unreleased remixes and tracks that have never been put out.
Imogen Heap, I to listen some to her stuff, kinda slow like Chill-out type. Must be good stuff to others, because she always on the Top 5 Itunes on Electronic charts.
Any suggestions, what everyone favorite track of hers, maybe i'll download it.
Anyone listen to new Justice or M.I.A ? whatca think?

Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet.
You consider Shadowy Men to be electronic? I guess I always just think of them as the guys who did the theme for "Kids in the Hall." To throw out some other names, I can recommend:
Unkle (sample track: Reign (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zATXJQ7OuPM))
Ladytron (sample track: Destroy Everything You Touch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtqGoHouoE0))
Royksopp (sample track: What Else Is There? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOt15JsLloU))
Curve (sample track: Chinese Burn (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0s0qbqZeoIk))
I admit, Curve's kind of problematic, as they're not strictly electronic. They're too rough to be shoegazer, too lyric-centered to be lumped into the vast techno wasteland, and they're got too much drum machine to be plain old rock. Strip them of the first and last qualities and you're left with Garbage (not knocking them, as I'm quite the fan actually - just that Curve pioneered the sound).

Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, i've listen to few of there tracks on Amazon.. I like there sound its has Alternative/New Wave sound to it.
Whats one there bests hits ? add into the Ipod.
Unkle - there first releases, was the greatest... (hands down)
Ladytron - First 2 releases was the best. Kinda sound change in lastest releases.

Yeah, I guess Shadowy Men is more surf rock than electronic. I don't know what I was thinking.
I'm really into techno, but dont' know how to find good stuff and am always looking for recomendations.
What I've got on my MP3 player that I like is:
Apotheosis: O Fortuna (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yO99j2n2rM4)- Possibly the single greatest techno song ever.
Daft Punk: Homework - I like Around the World and Da Funk in particular.
Chemical Brothers is also good stuff.
There's more, but I'm not digging it out right now.

O Fortuna.. man old skool days... Goes along w/ James Brown is Dead, Arachnophobia, Speed Racer and Phantom of Opera.
Yes Daft Punk Homework was there best stuff, really don't care for that Discovery (one more time) junk.
Chemical Brothers u need to own 1st first CD and Dig Your Own Hole.
Recomendations, Hope this help bring some new tunes too your player.
808 State - One in Ten *lead singer of UB40 on lyrics*
Underworld - Rez
Orbital - Belfast
Utah Saints - What can you do for me
Swayzak - Pineapple Spongecake
Kraftwerk - Tour De France
Underground Resistance - Sonic Destroyer
Leftfield - Africa Shox
The Prodigy - Voodoo People
CJ Bolland - The Prophet
Thanks for the post! I've got everything Utah Saints has produced. Got their first album on tape in '93, and then rebought it on CD a few years later.
I've got some Prodigy and Underworld, I think it's from a techno mix album.
I'm also diggin the hell out of Venus Hum. Dunno if that's 'Techno' per-se, but it is electronica. I first heard her open for Blue Man Group in their "Rock Star 2.0" tour, and my GF just ordered her second album last week (still waiting for it to arrive.)

Yes My wife likes VNV Nation, she got a few of the CD's haven't got a chance to listen to them. But I will someday..
VNV Nation is grand, you should give them a listen immediately. I would reccomend something specific by them, but I can't think of anything they've done that's bad.
You know, I could never get into Daft Punk. I liked Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, but everything else I've listened to by them just falls flat for me.

Daft Punk Homework was there much better stuff, they change there stuff in Discovery and i didn't like at all. Da Funk is nice track, I use to walk in busy streets of NYC with that song.

I don't really want bash u or trance, but it seems like a craze that doesn't fade away. Because it always played in Clubs and people goto Clubs too have fun. Trance wasn't really well known back then, it like step up to 90's dance that went away. Like the Aqua, Hadaway, Real McCoy and No Mercy. But if your interested any want to listen to roots of trance like

At the risk of sounding like an ### (I am an ###. There.), I must express my intense, laser-beam-like hatred for all of the above music genres. My hatred for them is as follows:
"I hate them, very much."
It's probably not even the music which I hate, though. It seems to me to be more than likely that it's just another extension of my extreme distaste for the [string of expletives] otakus I used to count among my friends. Being exposed (by them) to that bilge day in, day out alternately made me want to make like Nitro by exploding into a thick mist of berserker fury, and put on pink Hello-Kitty shaped glasses.

I just got "Overpowered (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overpowered)" by Roisin Murphy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roisin_Murphy)
You may remember her from the big 90's group, Moloko.
It's a very accomplished album, and meticulously produced. Though it's electronica/dance, it's very mellow, realtively speaking. It's not throbbing and stuff. I really recommend it.
Singles so far;

Goa, such as Psy Trance? (I know the two are not exactly the same, but I've never been too good to differentiate musical genres :nervous:). With bands like Astral Projection, Infected Mushroom, Doof, Chi-A.D., you mean this kind of sound?
I used to listen a lot of these a few years ago (I still listen to these older songs pretty regularly, but I don't care so much about recent stuff), it's great .

Yes u are correct about Psy Trance, but it was called GOA first. I dunno why they keep on changing the names of genres around. My only guess is that it attracts more people when throw in word TRANCE.
TRANCE SUCKS.... Tiesto Sucks.

02. juno reactor - pistolero (these guys were amazing)
03. chemical brothers - sunshine underground (great track off their underrated 3rd album)
04. the orb - little fluffy clouds (yay!)
05. moby - feeling so real (or any Moby track...)
06. underworld - moaner (ditto...)
07. children of the bong - interface reality (good ol' 90s trip)
08. the source - it's a kind of magic (it's trance but it's great)
09. aphex twin - to cure a weakling child (off what i consider to be the landmark "abstract" techno album
10. sven vath - accident in paradise (also trance-y, but this song has always sounded to me like the guy started up a beat and then bent it backwards...like when you screwed up your eyes while playing Qbert and the board became all inverted...)

Sunn O))) (pronounced simply sun) is an American drone metal band in its broadest sense; however, it incorporates elements of the dark ambient, black metal and noise genres as well. The band consists of Stephen O'Malley (Khanate, Burning Witch) and Greg Anderson (Goatsnake).[1]

I'm into the harsher electronic stuff for the most part.
My favorite group is Hocico. I like everything they've put out. The solo projects of the two members are great as well (Rabia Sorda is more "mainstream" and Dulce Liquido is very harsh noisy stuff that's really an acquired taste). You owe it to yourself to check them out.
I'm a fan of Unter Null, Psyclon Nine and Dawn of Ashes as well. I plan on ordering some Die Sektor, Tactikal Sekt and Nurzery Rhymez soon, the stuff I heard on myspace was pretty good by all three of them.
As far as less harsh stuff goes I enjoy:
Assemblage 23
Frontline Assembly
The Crystal Method
Edge of Dawn
DJ Shadow
VNV Nation is a group I'm torn on. I own a number of cds by them, but it seems that only half of each cd is decent. The more ambient/chilled out type stuff isn't all that impressive, other groups do it far better. They are at their best when they have more energy.

Oh.. did anyone goto DEMF this year... Kinda late.. I went on Sat. for a few hrs. No I don't stay for Moby.
I know I'm late joining the discussion, but I enjoy tons from the "electronica" genre as a whole. I really like Spazzed out IDM and glitch (it helped that I grew up listening to "punk rock(ha)".
Please check out this youtube video of one of my all time favorites:
Venetian Snares! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rkbvTYQbqk)
There are so many artists I enjoy. Too many to list all of them, really. A few?
Boards of Canada
Squarepusher
Venetian Snares
Doormouse
Stunt Rock
Bjork
I also enjoy "electro-accoustic" bands such as:
Broadcast
Tortoise
Those are just a few off of the top of my head. Enjoy the video!

Does anyone know of any good sites or anyplace to Download Electronic stuff ? No Trance or Mainstream Junk...
The following websites are very far from mainstream. They offer tons of downloadables, and are run by freinds of mine. I have submitted stuff to animals within animals and bad taste both. I hope you hear something you like.
Bad Taste (label) (http://www.badtaste4life.com/)

Songs are open to mass interpretation, but to me, this one is about the girl, who has the idea of living fast, dying young stuck in her head. She gets off on pain, in that sexual way...she meets people, and they join her, as she joined others like her before. This thrill addiction of pleasure/pain ends up in damage to both those around her, and death.
I think the choruses and second verse are about the passing out/death of some of the group she's in (chorus), and then the verse is about when she takes her fetish/fascination too far, inflicting pain on others. They'll "never age" because she'll kill them. Think that film a while back about those people who kill people in those leather fetish torture devices and broadcast it online.
She knows she doing wrong, though, and wishes she could stop, or that someone would stop her. (the line about heaven interfering)
That's my interpretation. Bit macabre. :)
