View Full Version : HCRealms Mafia - 'Arkham Riots' - Sign-Up Thread.
With Peers' most recent Mafia adventure wrapping up, I decided now would be as good of a time as any to launch the sign-ups for my first Mafia game.
The focus of this game will be Gotham City and, more specifically, Arkham Asylum. Since we're dealing with a bunch of crazies and psychopaths, this definitely won't be your 'typical' game. Your participation will help decide whether Batman and his allies can succeed in cleaning up the mess, or if the Inmates rule the Asylum ...
For those of you still unfamiliar, here are the basic rules (adapted from Peers):Mafia is a game where an informed minority, in this case the Gotham Knights, tries to arrest an uninformed majority, the Inmates. Translation: the good guys know who they are, the bad guys don't know who the good guys are and try to find them before they're all either dead or arrested.
The game is played in two phases. During the day phase, everyone will cast a vote as to who they think is a member of the Gotham Knights. When a majority vote is reached, that person is killed and you learn if they were good or bad. If 48 hours go by and a majority vote has not been reached, nobody is 'lynched'.
Either way, we then move to the Night Phase. The thread will be locked down to represent everyone retreating to the relative safety of their cells for the night and sleeping.
Some of you will have special powers as part of your role; the night phase is when you will PM me the names of your targets for those powers. When the night is over (which happens when I have all the targets for the night, or 24 hours have passed), I will write up the events of the night and post them here.
Sometimes the writeups will contain clues as to who did what; sometimes it will have red herrings. Once the writeup is posted, the thread is unlocked and the next day phase will begin.
We continue until one side wins.Sign-ups begin now, and end on Sunday, September 2nd, at 11:59pm CDT. The game will begin (hopefully) with PMs being sent out on Monday.

I don't think JackAssterson would find this game fun at all so I wouldn't expect to see him sign up.
I, on the other hand, am all for it.
Sure, I'm certain I can find time for this as well, and running loose in Arkham Asylum sounds like too much fun to pass up. Count me in! :)

No, it wasn't ABF's fault, that's true.
Now, whether ABF could have done something to prevent it from getting as bad as it did, well, guess each person has to make up their mind and decide what constitutes "responsibility of action" (I also look at IH and Pash as I say this).

Speaking of which, someone smack Batman across the head for being all Mr. "I destroyed all the pits but one which I keep guarded" and meanwhile the darn things are popping up all over the DCU again.
Hmm...actually, there could be a story in that where it's explained that the Earth will start to "force creation" of Lazarus Pits - if too many are removed - as a sort of antibody or such.
By my count, we've currently got 23 players, which is enough for much fun, frivolity, and mayhem. And, I'm certain that a game of that magnitude could be quite fun for everyone involved.
However, if you want to truly plumb the depths of Mafia-based madness along with carnage the likes of which may never be seen again, we'll need about 8 more people ...

So what happened with Iron Hams, with Pash/and stuff?
The story goes something like this:
You can't talk about this game outside of this thread unless your role specifically allows you to communicate with other people via pm.
This rule is on the front of every mafia thread and some of the sign up threads.
Pash didn't read the rules (surprise!) and he told ABF who he was. Then Pash told Iron Ham that he had told ABF his role. Iron Ham thought he was joking. ABF thought it didn't matter since they were on the same side anyways and they didn't talk about it again.
Then, ABF's goal changed to killing all the "mod" affiliated people. He knew that Pash was the last mod. He told JackAssterson (who was on his team) that he knew who the last mod was and he told him how he knew and that he didn't know what to do. JackAssterson went to Iron Ham and IH ended the game with no winner.
The moral of the story? Don't tell people your role, because it ruins the game. Also, if someone tells you theirs, tell the mod immediately and said person with be modkilled and the game will continue.
As a sidenote, I don't mind playing a mafia game with ABF, but I wouldn't play one with Pash. Nothing personal, it just sucks ending a game halfway through because someone else ####ed up.

I think that all of the 'usual suspects' have already signed up to play in this one, which means that the likelihood of adding more players and releasing a few of the more, uh, 'troubled' personas into the game are rather slim, as they would be the last characters added.
(Which is too bad because 'Inmate #00031' had some potential to really make things interesting.)
And keep in mind that, even with 27 characters already established, we've still got room for about, oh, 13 more players or so before I start running out of ideas for characters and their appropriate powers ...

And if you're the mod, take people's concerns seriously. That was my issue with it all. The potential for nipping it in the bud and not screwing up the game was there, but ignored.

Ok, ok, bygones be bygones. Ham did do a great job with the characters and the game. I loved how I got myself and my win was when the other mods got offed. Classic. :laugh:
