CRITICAL HIT VOLUME 2 ISSUE 4 (http://www.hcrealms.com/temp/CH.Volume.2.Issue.4.pdf)

Good day my loyal readers,

I know you have all been patient and waited the last two months for the magazine that delivers all your gaming needs and desires for the price you all love. I apologize for keeping you all waiting so long, but a summer of relaxing some and then getting ready for first day of school (getting ready to teach 9th grade) and the High School Football season put me behind a little. However, we are always looking ahead and will always give you the low down on the games you love.

As always we are looking for writers from every gameline and want to give everyone some quality articles on their lines of favor. With our brothers at INQUEST closing shop we now must fill that void and I am looking to make the magazine bigger and better than ever before. Come be a part of something grande as we look to getting bigger.

Well enough hearing me ramble, let's get to the magazine you all love!

William Rock

Another awesome job and a big thanks to all who contributed.

I'm excited about a new Mimic and hopefully a Colossus with a dial worthy of that mighty sculpt. Maybe we will get Morph also.

Huh, so I guess we definitely are getting two Hulk, Green Scar and WWH Hulk. That's kinda good news.

That Mimic sure sounds like the Mimic from Exiles...I really hope it's him.

This The' Le, the guy who did the layout. I hope you all like the current issue. I added more humorous images, which let me flex my creative side.

I was quite proud of my "characters you'll probably never see as a Clix", and the Amazo/Hulk joke.

Enjoy, and I'll see you next issue!

I'm so keyed up! Omega Red and Archangel's sculpts sound really impressive. Morph is a nice addition (not a big fan, but I like EXiles options). Jean sounds well done, and Dazzler (who I'm not super into) has me excited just because of the silly singer sculpt. Bring on Mutations!

Huh, so I guess we definitely are getting two Hulk, Green Scar and WWH Hulk. That's kinda good news.

We're probably getting two or more Hulks(Atleast I hope) but that sculpt he was shown isn't WWH, the figure he describes is the Green Scar we've already seen. WWH doesn't have a shield or axe, he uses a sword and lacks most of the armor of Planet Hulk.

Actually, WWH is the picture on the box which really has my hopes up. I love playing Tentpole teams but so many of them can't fight a group unless they have PC or HSS. Hopefully the WWH will be strong enough to do so.

Really? Because he mentioned a metal arm thing that didn't seem to be on the Green Scar Hulk, at least from the poor angle I saw. Then again, I suppose that little orange bit on his shoulder in the sculpt we've seen could be the metal thing. Oh well, like you said, we'll probably be getting two Hulks at least. Would be nice if they were from different stories though. Maestro maybe?

I've always wanted to know how to make Giants work better, and I'm glad all this information was there. The news about Star Wars Pocketmodels was also useful.

Also, I saw myself in a couple of this WWE pictures! Yay!

I think you're right. I haven't read them in a while but I'm pretty sure Green Scar always had the metal armor on his left arm(I know he did in the fight against Silver Savage). He had leather shoulder guards though but only got a metal spiked one for WWH.

I personally would be extremely happy with four Hulks:
Green Scar(Getting one)
A Defenders Hulk
World War Hulk(On the box art)
Maestro

I hate to say it, since I really apreciate the previous issues, but I´m very disapointed with this number of Critical Hit. With so much new stuff coming up, I was eager to see a few things like:
*A review of the most useful stuff on Avengers, as well a "set review", weighting the pros and cons, from dials to sculpts and cardborad.
*Review of the possible Team Teams (not like the ones been spotted on HC realms until now. Not a "One Theme Team Review", but a full range of at least one of the Keywords strategies - I mean, like how to take advantage of the great number of Perplex in Scientist Theme Teams and such and interesting picks for scientist theme teams, and other examples - Soldiers, Teen, etc.)
*Reviews of the Heralds and examples of how they will play on Restricted and Irrestricted enviroments.
*Special previews of Justice League and new mechanics in M&M
And so, I feel it fell short of the usual degree of quality and usefullness I got myself accostumed.

Hi. I was the guy who made an unwarranted stink when Critical Hit added non-HeroClix and non-WizKids content. I decided that I had given the e-zine and its contributors a bad rap when I "quit" reading this with Vol. 2 Issue 1, so I wanted to give this issue a read-through. It was fairly simple to skip over anything that didn't interest me (although I didn't see the tabs to do so like in #1) and I did stop skimming to look at some of the pretty pictures and to glance at what was going on in some other games.

I really enjoyed the thorough look at Giants in this issue and especially appreciated that IceHot is willing to write articles exploring different rules issues. It is almost certainly the lag time that Rock mentioned earlier (the articles were gleaned over two months time) that made some of the reviews less timely; having an article that seemed to be phrased as "Look for these pieces to surprise you in CoG!" after the event itself was over was a little jarring.

At the risk of getting flamed, receiving neg rep or just being blown off with the statement "hey, it's free": I really think the editing in this issue was below the level of some of the earlier efforts. Multiple misspellings ("GigantIa" was at least consistent, but "reveled" was in an article title), the inclusion of internet shorthand in a written article, and many grammar mistakes plagued this publication. I'd really like to see the e-zine improve because, well, it's still likely better than any print publication out there.

All in all, it's an entertaining piece of work and I'm glad that y'all are producing it. Keep striving to get better and keep up the great work.

Thanks for the kind words and the criticism all, it is completely understandable. I am working on getting more editors, but I don't exactly much much...well at all. I am in the realization we need to step up some as we are it in terms of hobby magazine and articles out there now. With Inquest closing shop that leaves critcal hit to cover all the games out there. For the most part I will stay with Wizkids games, but will be looking at some WOTC and a few other companies. A big factor I have is that Wizkids does better with communicating with me and giving me some feedback with the stuff we put out.

Nice articles, useful information on the giants.

Although I disagree with one thing. Super rare Zombies and side kick characters were not really a good thing. Not in the rarity that they were available in.

I read some of it and I have to say, this issue is really worth the wait. I love the focus on the Giant characters this time around. Hopefully the next issue will be out soon to cover the new double-based characters from JLA.

I, too, really liked the emphasis on giants this issue. Jon Loftus', Joeldad's, Normalview's, Steve Luzader's and Eric Schaen's pieces combined to bring a strong emphasis to a class of pieces that most players (myself included) have tended to dismiss as being more trouble than they're worth under most circumstances. Peter Wort's modding article was also very interesting. SLVRSR4's theme piece on attempting a Serpent-themed team was also appreciated. I haven't given the full issue my attention (and, frankly, with any of the pieces on other games that's not likely to change), but I did want to give a thumbs-up for the above so far.

Although I disagree with one thing. Super rare Zombies and side kick characters were not really a good thing. Not in the rarity that they were available in. Oh, I agree with you - they were actually some of the worst things to be done within the past year. One or more of the other "great" things in the list were, well, at best I'll call them a matter of perspective.

I'm not going to kick cramcompany in the grin for being hyped up on enthusiasm when he wrote the piece, but it did end the issue with something that was somewhere between a starry-eyed cheer and a commercial. The info on the quality of the sculpts and paint jobs, the nature of the plastic, along with the Mimic and Dazzler info were all new useful... everything beyond that was a general hype and almost a political commercial for Mark "He'll fight for your favorites!" Tuttle. I understand getting a buzz from having someone in a position of power in a hobby one's very much into come up and showing one some advance sculpts and talking one on one... but like candid pics taken at a party, it can be potentially embarassing once one sobers up. ;)

Thank you so much for this Issue... the next tournament at my venue is a Giants one (min of 2 giants per team), and this helped out a lot.

I would just like to point out something that is Incorrect.

His most redeeming quality is that high Defense on
the first two clicks with Impervious!
That is from the "My Name is Giant" Article, Page 4 a Bit under the Abomination Dial, Which makes the error all that apparent.

Impervious isn't on Abomination's Dial, the only location where it is in the HCrealms Unit Gallery, which is not correct. Acording to WizKids website, Abomination never gets Impervious, but has Invulnerability.

I don't have the Figure to look, but I did play with it the other week, and can't remember impervious.
I could be wrong however... In either case, There is an Error in the issue,
A: Impervious is mentioned but Abomination dosn't have Impervious.
Or
B: The Dial shows Invulnerability when it show Impervious.

Nice issue. Enjoyed the Giant article and M&M info
however...why all the Star Wars stuff?

I could understand if there was a 'SW' clix line, but
since there isn't...what's it doing in the clix magazine
in place of more clix focused material?

Obviously I'm not a fan, so no need to flame 'SW' lovers...
I just don't think it belongs in Critical Hit.

I must admit that the source of the stats was in fact both HCRealms and Wizkids Websites since, at the time of writing, I was travelling and did not have the clix in question in front of me. Despite the error, I hope you enjoyed the issue.

BTW, there's also a wicked-cool Avengers Checklist that should be attached to this mailer! Feedback on it would be appreciated.

Rock and gang thank you for another great issue and all the information that was in there. I have found myself using the giants more lately due to the numbers that we have and try to include them in some of my teams. I really enjoy using them as they add another key element to this game. LOL. I am actually 33 years old, and I run a side business publishing Dungeons and Dragons d20 books -- http://www.TheLeGames.com

I do all the layout for my books and some of the writing -- that is how I hooked up with Critical Hit. I saw issue 1 and offered my services to do all the layout and imaging.

Hopefully I will be able to get the D&D 4e license soon, which should be huge in the rpg world next summer.

Oh well, back to the grind. Maybe next month I'll make some smurf-clix. And for the record, my own personal favorite joke this issue is either "hulk want HSS" or "Naked Namor Make Hulk Uncomfortable"

Man, I crack me up.
